Problems with streaming subtitles from cloud on Philips AndroidTV - Philips, Sony, TCL Android TV

Hello, I have problems with streaming subtitles on my Philips Android TV. The model is 32PFS6402/12 running Android 7.1.2.. Everything was fine until a week ago. I was using ES File Manager and MX player. The source is WD MyCloud. The subtitles ran perfectly as long as the name of the sub file was the same. For a week now not a single subtitle work on it, even on movies that were good before. I have an LG TV on which the subs works fine from the cloud. I tried reseting the TV and restarting the cloud without success. I tried VLC player as well but with no result. Could it be a DLNA problem and is there a solution. Thanks.

[Q] Note2 as DLNA Renderer [PS3 Media Server] - Anyone Had Success?

Hi Folks,
I have an Ubuntu Server running the PS3 Media Server (pms-linux) DLNA server.
I have it configured to stream audio/video files out to PS3, iPad (via AirPlayer or GoodPlayer apps). It also happily streamed to my Sony Xperia Arc S via the built in DLNA app there (which pushed the stream to MX Player).
Having moved to the Note2, I hoped to continue to use the functionality, and was happy to see the stock Music/Video players plus AllShare Player all have DLNA functionality, and, indeed, the server shows in the list of local servers.
However upon trying to connect to the server, I get various error messages on the phone. Tailing the logs, I have adjusted the Android.conf file so that it's selected when the Note2 connects, I've also had it so that the same file as the Xperia Arc S uses is selected. Both, however, to no avail. The phone continues to refuse to have anything to do with PS3 Media Server, I can't stream files from it & play them on the phone.
I'm going to go looking around Google Play for other DLNA capable apps, and couple those with MX Player, to see if I have any better luck, but it would be great to be able to ge the stock apps working.
Has anyone else had any luck with this? If so, could you post your .conf file?
Thanks!
Gav.
Skifta
Well... I tried the same thing. But I couldn't. The best option to stream to XMB is with Skifta. It works perfectly for me with videos, photos and music too.
ArkMC
I use ArkMC for near the same case
It has free version with dlna renderer.
Also tried Skifta - nice design but boring usability.

[Q] Slow SMB transfers/problems playing mkv's from LAN

In the past it has worked flawless playing 720p mkv files from my home server through WiFi over SMB using the Dice Player with hw rendering, but since quite a while back I've been getting annoying audio glitches in that player with some tv shows (I think it began after an update of the app some months back) and have used xbmc (with some lag due to software rendering). But since a couple of days (weeks?) I've been having big problems playing anything on the phone.
After several seconds Dice player plays for like 1-2sec, then pauses for a while and plays another second before it says it can't play the video, the same with xbmc. I then tried to connect to my smb share (on my Win2012 server) with ES File Explorer and tried to play it both with Dice player and MX player from there but still the same even after restarting the phone.
I then tried the app "bredbandskollen" (swedish bandwidth checker) and saw that the connection to internet through wifi was ok 20-30mbit/sec both ways. Then tried on my girlfriends Galaxy SII and it worked flawless to watch movies with Dice Player from my server through wifi.
Then I tried copying the file through ES File Explorer to the phone and got like 30-50kb/sec and it said it should take several hours to copy a ~500MB file (as opposed to 11MB/s and less than 1 minute to a wired Win8 computer and 7-8MB/s on a wireless Win8 laptop).
Playing HD music videos through YouTube or downloading files from the internet works perfect so it doesn't seem to be an issue with non-SMB stuff, also everything works fine on the other Android phone (and Win8 machines) so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the server or router, so I suppose it's something with my phone?
This is with the rom BugX 5.1 (I can't swear it worked after installing that in the beginning of May, but I really think it did and it did work on earlier BugX versions).
I have since full wiped and installed ViperX 3.7.0 and had the same issues. I then full wiped again and went back to BugX 5.1 and didn't install or Titanium restore anything, but just downloaded Dice player and ES File Explorer, but it behaved the same.
I've also switched the router to the less crowded channel 13, but still the same issues. Really annoying since it has worked before on the same mkv's/phone/router/server...
Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?
Edit: Just tried with the latest Skydragon 18.6 and still the same. However I did realize that it worked just as well playing in Dice Player through FTP from the same server and that seems very smooth and fast (even without the audio glitches I mentioned). I just find it very strange that the SMB seemed to get unusable all of a sudden...

VLC - Streaming Options

Hello,
I have a pretty good setup on my Fire TV, but I am always trying to make something work. Anyways, I would really LOVE it if I could stream movies from my PC to FireTV through VLC. This is mostly for DVD's, while I have my DVD drive mapped through SMP it would be great if I could pop in a DVD and start streaming. A few easy options, of which I only tried one.
1: VLC Direct Streaming Pro Free, VLC Streamer Free, etc
This seemed to be the EASIEST option, but I get an error message saying sharing is not allowed on the FireTV. Any work around?
2: KMPlayer: Another option I haven't tried..however was wondering about DVD support and see if someone could try the app.
What are your thoughts?

TCL c815 - External Hard drive files cannot suddenly be read by most Video Players

Hi! I have this External Hard Drive where I used to watch my movies for more than 2 years on my TCL c815 TV.
The other day, I decided to update my firmware to v715 android 11, I was really impressed with the changes made by the upgrade. However, I noticed that suddenly, video players like MX Player, VLC, Just Player, or most video players cannot see the videos on my Hard Drive., some see the Movie Folder name, but when I opened the folder, there's no movie file to be found. Although the Built-in Media Player can see and play movies, we all know that TCL's media player is not really 100% great as for some reason, the media player overstretched some movie types which sucks that TCL hasn't resolved yet. After more checking, I found out that only Kodi can see & play the movies from my hard drive, but Dolby Vision is not supported
I made re-installed the mentioned video players and made sure it has permission to access my files, etc. But with the same result. Also, whenever I open my MX player and clicked the USB storage, my External Harddrive will suddenly like be forced to eject or something, and cannot totally detect the hard drive. I have to re-plug it to be able to see the files again.
My question is: has anyone experienced this issue before?
Does formatting the drive would do? (Though I don't wanna lose the movies, it's kinda large
Downgrading the firmware work?
The external Hard Drive is Seagate with NTFS format
Thank you to anyone who's going to share their experience and solution!
