Always-On display | Whats the battery impact with that on ? - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
i only got my Mate 20 X (International Version) since last night. I wonder if some of you here know a bit more on the average battery impact between the Always-On display and without it.
I would like to use it, but only if its not too much affecting battery life.
Thanks in advance.

HTC One X - Horrible Battery Life

Hi All,
Recently switched from an iPhone to HTC One X and I am quite disappointed so far. Does anyone also endure poor battery life with your HTC One X?
I am not running much applications in the background either, if I charge my phone to 100%, I go to bed and wake up its 80% without me even touching the phone... and it hardly lasts me half a day without charging.
Does anyone have any tips to improve battery life? Oh, and my screen brightness is always at 0-25%... thanks for any help!

There are plenty of threads discussing about battery life, look at few of them to get an idea.
One X battery life is not great, but it should comfortably last a day (around 16 hours or more) with moderate use. But everything depends on what apps you are running and how you the phone. For example if you play graphics intensive 3D games for like 2 or 3hrs then it wont last much more than 4 or 5 hours. Other than processor intensive apps the other biggest battery killer is screen, you can’t get more than 3~4hrs of screen time with One X (but then again 4 hours on the phone is not exactly moderate use either). With normal use i.e: 1~2hrs of screen time for day-to-day tasks (browsing, email, texting etc..) and about 1hr of calls the battery should last 16+ hrs. Standby battery life of One X is fantastic, it hardly drops even more than 5% overnight is left alone. If you notice a 20% drop then there is something wrong. Go to battery usage stats and see which apps are eating up the battery.

There is a huge battery thread in this forum, please read through it. However, to start do as below:
Your overnight behavior is not normal. One X uses a 5th core and barely uses any battery while asleep. Usually with auto sync on I consume 2% overnight (usually 8 hours).
Install CPU spy and Better Battery stats. With CPU spy reset the counter before going to sleep and check the sleep % in the morning, it should be above 90% at 0 mhz. Check if it has several minutes at high mhz (800 to 1200 mhz).
With better battery stats go to other in menu and set custom ref before going to sleep. Check in the morning both kernel wakelocks and partial wakelocks. Check if there are any apps generating the most wakelocks . You could have some of the following consuming your battery overnight (I had all of these):
- weak wifi or data signal generates a lot of kernel wakelocks as the phone is constantly scanning for signal.
- some weather widgets have generated me constant wakelocks
- Facebook, Currents, Flipboard all of those constantly update and consume battery.
Also if your HOX is new at first battery life sucks. Believe me it will get way better after a couple of weeks.
try installing ther latest firmware (2.17). if you cant install then search install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970
works like a charm for me and helps the battery to last longer!

New to Andorid & G3, first few days, weak battery than expected

Hey guys,
So I just moved from iPhone finally, first few days with the G3 and I'm wowed of course, my only concern is that I expected the battery to be a lot better, of course it's better than the iPhone, but I did not expect it to drain so fast, first few % goes slow but then it drops fast, and I'm not doing anything special or massive use, brightness set to auto, and it's trickle charged, I dropped to like 20% after 2:20 hours of screen use.
So my question, is that what I can expect from the G3 because of the massive resolution? or it's just on the beginning?
Would love to hear from your experience! any tips would be cool!
Thanks!
Its because of the qhd screen, better screen, more battery drain, if u root u can adjust a few things to help a little, mine isent to bad
My first 10 percent drop I can get almost a hour of screen time, barely 2 1/2 at 50%. Thinking of returning this for the M8..

This is true, but because you're a new user, I'd highly recommend not rooting for a while, until you've worked out the kinks in your phone. You can set the brightness to a certain percentage, and then auto-brightness uses that percentage as a base and will not let the screen go lower than that level. As for apps that can help you out, I use and highly recommend this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antutu.powersaver
You can select 3 different levels of saving, and I seem to get around 20% more battery life when use it. Or you can look for anything else along those lines. LG also has some built-in tools to help keep your battery going. There's the built-in battery saver option: http://www.androidcentral.com/how-use-battery-saver-lg-g3
There's also a few other things, this site covers it pretty well: http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-g3-help-tips-and-tricks
Anyways, hope that helps, and welcome to the family!
Hey thanks for the help guys!
I will definitely try some of the suggestions, and also considering to root it.
Does it get better with time tho? I mean this is just my 3rd of 4th cycle.
Thanks again guys!

Yes, usually takes a few circles to the battery to settle down. Mine at the beginning was draining fast too but now I'm getting almost 5 hours of screen on time. That's pretty good in my opinion. I use my phone a lot and by the end of the day I'm over 30%. My gs4 was over way before that.

My battery was terrible the first week. It's gotten much better since. So it will calm down after a bit.
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app
My battery was horrible the first week on my g2 but seems better on the g3, I don't think it will get better than this and if it does that's awesome!
I also feel like it doesn't use as much battery when screen on as my g2 did.

The battery backup is neither too good nor too bad.
for normal users it mush have a day or so.
I watched 720p video for a continuous period of 5 hrs and the battery drain was from 100% to 22%, i could have watched 1hrs move or so.
so i hit it

my g3 battery draining fast?!

Hi,
My LG G3 D850 battery is going down pretty fast and always gets about only 18 hrs of standby time (less than 4 hrs on screen) no matter what I did. In such a case, is the extended battery a good option? I already found a mpj 6000 mah extended battery, or ss something wrong with my stock battery? I don't really know much about the smart phones, but I really like this phone so if anyone could help me fix the battery issue thank you so much!
What's your brightness? I'm getting about the same 18hrs too with my battery. I usually have the brightness on 50%.

4hrs on screen is pretty normal depending on your usage. That being said, look into Greenify. It should help a bit.
Remember that this is a 4k display, which is harder on the battery. Some people make it to 6hrs+ screen time with mods, you can look into that if you'd like but being new to smart phones, it's not the first thing I'd suggest.

Question Z Fold 3 battery life discussion

Hi to all F3 owners hope your enjoying your new toy?
Only query / disappointment for me so far is that battery life is nowhere near as good on Fold 3 as it was with Fold 2.
1.5 hours light usage today and I am down to 58% - mostly indoors and on WiFi
I expected the latest Snapdragon 888 to have as good of not better power management than last year's CPU.
What is other F3 owner's experience?
WhatsApp has been running for 25 mins and eaten ~30%? You have something deeper going on there it looks like.
Digital wellbeing is a battery eating feature itself. Turn it off and you will get more battery time.
I have similiar problems with battery. But in my case, it's Calls that take a lot battery, windows link too..

Believe it or not to today has been very light usage compared with a typical day
I have same Apps and settings as i had with my Fold2 so don't know what's up
Hopefully after a few more days of battery usage learning things will settle down

A completely different list of apps with top battery usage is shown with the 2 screen shots...hmmm
This happens with every release of every new phone. It always takes a few days for it to settle as it's downloading apps, settings, updates, etc. It's WAY too early to compare battery life. Give it a week.
Give it time to take a calibration and you to stop using your device not in the muscle memory you and the phone will develop.
Then they'll push a firmware upgrade that destroys all that hard work you and your new fold put in getting to know one another.
See Buds+ battery stat.
Only paired them with phone 2 hours ago to so recording 10 hours of background battery usage is quite an achievement
I reckon the battery usage stats are unreliable on my Fold3 ...
Estimated 15 hours on a full charge..... Spectacularly BAD if accurate long term
Battery drain (mostly standby) in first hour is 6%

Total app usage in 90 mins since coming off charge is 1.9%
Therefore standby drain is 4.1% per 90 mins. Not ideal.
I didn't notice a particular issue whith battery life on mine l nearly 10H of uptime with 35% remaining is alright in my book)
yah i definitly see what you mean

yah but alot of time its not always accurate
I'm having a 6h30 SOT with lot of web browsing and gaming with mainly usage of the big screen so not bad at all for me
Update: today I put !y SIM card in another phone and used Fold3 on WiFi only
Normal battery drain and good SOT
Can only hope September OTA improves network radio power consumption

Accubattery estimates 6hrs SOT time is, which I think is a out what I got from Fold2. My previous high battery drain does appear to have been network / radio related
