Any hope for Custom ROM Development for M30 with Exynos 7904? - Samsung Galaxy M30 Questions & Answers

I'm looking to buy this Galaxy M30 over Redmi Note 7 Pro for it's overall amazing specs!
But in future is it possible to install any Custom ROM on this device by any chance?
or this equations are true?
"Exynos = closed source
closed source = no developer interest
S6 = locked bootloader
Exynos + Locked Bootloader = double whammy
Exynos + Locked Bootloader + small non-removable battery = Disposable device with 2 year max lifespan & low re-sale value "

I have applied for kernel sources and will get soon. I am a developer so I can develop for M30, but yea RN7 Pro will have many developers thanks to SDM675.

Is this OS has guest user option?
I've purchased this device. And I love it. Under 216$ this is the best you can get.
I want to know if there is guest user option in Samsung experience.?

Hi all,
Is it true that exynos processor will not have rom development at all.
I found one document online ....where they tell to enable oem unlocking...so can i atleast root my phone with that.

OEM Unlock is available
Actually, surprisingly, Samsung has enabled the Developer Options setting for OEM Unlock. This makes it much easier.
We just need a ported recovery and rom and root from some other similar exynos phone.
I'd do it if I had the know-how

Exactly, why do you want it for?
If is to block ads, blokada works just fine. If it's to uninstall bloatware which is little is m30 case, you can do it, if it's basic customization, nice lock and samtweak have a few... Etc etc...
If you want to check how give a try in my s10 guide but also applicable to other Galaxy devices:

Have you made any TWRP for Q yet? The Pie one bootloops for Q (stupid me) lol.

Yes, steps are
• root
• install LSPosed
• download Firefds Kit FOR YOUR ANDROID VERSION
• comb through the settings
• profit!
I know it's a rather old question by a "new" member (read: someone who most likely just made a profile to ask something and never returned)... But i thought I'd answer so someone else might still benefit...

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
This is a weak spot as it's no well known worldwide. Dev's are not too many and custom ROMs or even Official Updates are missing.
Official updates are excellent and fast since android 8 dropped. I usually get security updates the same month they are for. But it's true, no real custom rom development as of yet. Hopefully we get better sw once Project Treble compatible roms are available.
The Phone is good enough. Nothing spectacular. When I got the root sorted by using the Krom root, the phone is stable. I have high hopes and expectations for the resurrection remix ROM via the openkirin project, in my opinion the best ROM out there.

Would you please explain how did you root your phone with mentioned method (kroom root) ?
Do you think I will be able to root my phone Huawei Mate 9 PRO (LON-L29 8.0.0.378(C432)
I have been searching for root for a long time now, but I am very confused since there isn't really good community around this model.
I hope somebody will be able to help rooting my phone.

Assuming you have unlocked the bootloader.
You can download Krom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9-pro/development/kangvip-rom-b354-mate-9-pro-links-t3790605
When you unzip the rom files, you will find Run.bat Run that file and when it's time to install, you get to the install menu, you select option 2 instead of option 1. Your phone will then be rooted and reboot. Enjoy.

Thank you very much for the support. I am still searching for the best way to get root to bypass safetynet. It seems like magisk root is best way to do so. I am also looking for twrp supports decryption, I might have found one I didn't try it yet. This is the link https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3783353

Well I guess I will not be able to root after all since I don't have the bootloader code. I contacted Huawei support, they do not promise anything but there is still a tiny hope.
I know there is options like DC unlocker etc but I didn't get / read any confirmation about that anyone have successfully rooted their mate 9 pro [No EXTERNAL SD double sim version (LON-L29)] with a DC given code.
In this point I don't know what to do. Even if if I somehow manage to get the bootloader code I still need to find proper magisk root method. Mate 9 pro has no good community unfortunately.
I know my next phone is gonna be root friendly device like One Plus 6 or Google phone etc.
I hate not having full control of my own device.

1. Buy a popular phone, more spare parts, cheaper repair
2. Buy a popular phone, more community support and custom ROMs

Yeah there are chances of development and the bootloader can be unlocked, but I doubt the compatibility, responsiveness of the indisplay fingerprint scanner. Most of the OnePlus 6T roms don't support indisplay fingerprint scanner.
Note that unlocking the bootloader (more probably installing the custom recovery) trips the Knox Warranty Bit. It may lead to voiding of device warranty, though I suppose Samsung may still repair the device by charging for the same.
However, it definitely permanently disables Knox on the device so you cannot use Secure Folder, Samsung Pay (not sure of the impact on Pay Mini), Samsung Health, Samsung Pass or any other enterprise features.

I am also waiting for a Lineage OS port , Samsung UI is not smooth.Although the fingerprint scanner won't work on ROMS.

I like the fact that the Secure Folder apps are completely isolated from the normal apps. This has enabled me to install certain apps without them being detected by other apps while also allowing me to maintain dual instances of non-messaging apps. It also prevents any malware from infecting the protected apps. Also, I use Samsung wearables for which I need Samsung Health while Samsung Pass is useful for form filling though I use a different password manager.
So, I suppose it depends on what you want from the device as ROM development with Exynos and in-screen fingerprint reader isn't going to be great. Instead, tweaked Odin ROMs that don't trigger the Knox bit would be great.

Check oem unlock & usb debugging on your A50.
Enter into fastboot mode.
Connect to pc, open adb shell.
Check via commands whether your device is properly connected.
Use : setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1
This will enable your camera2api without touching any system prop files.
The prob is, i don't know how to fastboot on a samsung device, lol.

Question Custom ROM - moto G40 & G60

Dear all. Recently bought a G40F and ever since I was on the lookout for custom ROM support. more specifically, a well tested and "straight forward" custom ROM installation sequence. for a noob like me that's very important.
although Moto shares their kernel source code to custom rom devs, the ROM scene for G40/G60 is nowhere comparable to other phones like Poco X3. Im guessing thats because it's launched only in the Indian market(so far) and it hasnt attracted a lot of devs worldwide. well, its a shame tbh.
I have scoured the internet and was disappointed to find nothing of that sort. just a pile of generalized guides(beware of bricking) which is just copy pasted for every devices out there, probably for clicks and running ads. Yet, thank god I found this guy Selva Kumar A. He wrote a detailed guide and tested it on his own G40, and also has a guide if you happen to brick it.
once again, i am a noob and this would be my first custom ROM. So don't take my word for it. I am here reaching out to the community hoping to find better opinions and corrections to the techniques mentioned above. If any Devs reading this, please spare some time to evaluate this. bricking my phone is such a nightmare, but I want root access and try out some cool stuff.
Bootloader is not unlockable at the moment
Correct me if I'm wrong.
With an unlocked bootloader I can root the phone.
whereas for installing a custom ROM I should wait until a developer makes one that'd fit g40f, which also requires a unlocked bootloader

For optimization, as this is a new phone and as no one can propose the kind of optimizations you expect and as rooting is "experimental", you have to do optimizations by yourself... ^^
By "experimental root" I meant root is actually working fine, BUT Magisk is going on a new way as Magisk Hide is missing or not working as it should !!!

GSI means Generic System Image. These kind of ROMs work on any device running android 8.0 or higher and support A-Only or A/B partitions.
Advantages
Faster Updates
No TWRP Needed (Only Fastboot Needed or Odin in Samsung Phones)
Disadvantages
Only 95% of the gsi may work
There might be a lot of bugs and issues

You thought I didn't test Zygist before posting the different variants of Magisk till Magisk v24 ??? lol
Magisks post v23 were mostly written for the Oppo, Xiaomi and then Nexus/Pixel devices, but Samsung Galaxy devices were not taking into account in the devs's priority if not at all !
I follow most of the discussions in the development of the Magisk forks and no one even owns a Samsung devices or even care about Samsung.
There was a bug in Magisk v23 that causes bootloop in most newer Android devices (a fstab story) and instead of simply patching Magisk, they decided to take Magisk all apart with a fork for Oppo, another one for Xiaomi and then one for the Nexus/Pixel all with a different philosophy... Instead of Magisk Hide which was removed, then created new concepts of "Deny List" and/or "White list" but which work differently from the previous Magisk Hide !!!
Zygist doesn't work, or at least not with the Samsung Galaxy !!!
- First, it disables riru framework and EdXposed/LSposed modules and thus all modules based on them won't work anymore such as XprivacyLua, Firefds Kit and some others... Only AfWall++ continues working...
- Then, once rooted with magisk with Zygist on, I couldn't get any protected Samsung apps working such as Secure Folder, Samsung Health is working only partly as I can run it once but I can't access to it anymore unless I reboot the phone. Samsung Health is working in the background as I can see its notification and the number of steps I walked during the day (...), but once again I can't access to the inner of the apps and I don't have access to the health parameters... Samsung Pay also won't work and others I don't use...
ATM I'm still fighting with Android studio to understand how I can build my own Magisk app for the Samsung Galaxy devices...

i dont'know if your are a troll (your problem). Probably due to your english level comprehension you lost several thread passages, that before your intervention was going smoothly. No one has been criticized and no one say it's easy to build something. Luckily your are not moderator and this forum it's free also for flamer just like you. keep cam and take a chamomile

Is there any work being done to try and root it or is it locked never happening
Don't see it happening. The days of unlocked bootloaders, TWRP and even simple root seem to be over for the unlocked USA snapdragon versions. I can live with that but no esim on the 'ultra flagship' device is simply unacceptable, IMO.
If you go back and read the posts about rooting, you will find the all but 1 or 2 models can be unlocked. the US Unlocked is not rootable. Make sure you read through the posts, you can usually find the answer in the threads.
I appreciate the responses. So let's say I was willing g to sell this one to buy one that can be rooted. Which model am I looking for? I just use a prepaid phone service. But like being able to jump from one service to another.
That is also listed on the forum thread titles.
SM-F926B
Thank you
Isn't there a paid service that unlocks the US bootloader?

Would you trust someone else or a company to use unknown software on your device then install and log in to all of your stuff not knowing if they installed anything malicious?
What about model SM-F926U? rootable or not?
As stated here and in other threads, there is no root for the U/U1. Doing so has negative effects to the ROM, such as disabling the camera.
IF there was/is a successful Root process, the community will blow up with threads explaining how.
So the following link below is wrong:

Try it out ! and tell us back
Checkout if you have the OEM option (@ developer options) to enable it ..
That is the first step to unlock the bootloader
Not seeing that OEM option in Developer options.............so I'm not willing to try it out, don't want to brick the device.

If you don't have the oem option in your developer options your device can't be rooted.

Exactly !!!
Because you can't unlock the bootloader as said before , no OEM option = no unlock
So that link is wrong unfortunately
Yes, any post that says they can root the Fold 3 U/U1 is wrong. You will have consequences like losing camera and such.
Yes, it is wrong. This has been explored at length. I'm sorry it isn't a reality, but that's where we are.
appreciate the feedback..................back in the day with Windows Mobile OS phones, I would flash custom roms all the time, then the same with android HTC devices......................but haven't tried rooting since the Note-8.
