I've gone to use the headphone port USB-C to jack cable/adapter today and the sound quality is AWFUL. As soon as I got to work I tried numerous other headphones to test it's not a fault on my own. They were all the same. Sound quality is terrible, no bass, sounds mono, tinny. Bluetooth is fine. No audio issues anywhere else.
Is this a common issue with these adapters or phone? I've never used one before. Never wanted to buy a phone without a headphone jack and this is why.

I bought a fiio e6 on amazon and sound quality has improved tremendously. Even with my a2dp receiver in my car, the improvement was great. Any other experience?
What kind of headphones are you using? i suspect that makes much more of a difference than the amp
I'm planning to get an E6 by the end of this month. Together with AKG K240 MK II. I will need the amp anyway, but it'll be good to know what ear-/headphones you are using.

Just tried my E6 on my i9100. Absolutely no change at all. Tried 5 different IEM's and 2 different headphones, they all sounded the same.
Maybe your E6 is broken!
I use it with akg K317 and in my car with a beewi bba100.
I've ordered an e5, which I should receive tomorrow, from what I've read the bass boost on the e5 is better than that of the e6.
I'll report back on any change on the sound quality, although don't expect anything in-depth, I'm no audiophile
without a proper lineout from the phone, the sound will either be same or worst in most cases. Because what youre doing is amplifying an amplified signal. So, if the amplified signal from the phone is bad, i'm pretty sure your external amplifier cant fix that.
You would need the Samsung official car dock for true line-out audio. Either that or make your own cable like the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20710266&postcount=14
Maybe Bluetooth audio would also work, if you have a Bluetooth receiver with a decent DAC.
No matter what you use, it will not improve the overall sound of the device as it uses a cheap and crappy sound card. Any sort of amp including the Fiio E6 only brings EQ to the music, not to mention you actually lose sound quality because your using a jack to jack method unlike the iPod where they have special cables that connects directly into the DAC of the iPod because of the special provide cables which over-passes the direct headphone jack port. (Search up Fiio L9 Cable) Also when using the jack to jack cable that's provided with the Fiio E6 it lowers the loudness of the sound when connecting via phone to the amp.
Of course then there's the human ear, if you feel like it sounds great, good for you but in reality the sound is worse with EQ added to make you think it sounds great.
If your an audiophile you have to accept that the SGS2 isn't the best music device. Cowon for example or the SGP are good sounding music players. It's a waste of money to buy a Fiio E6 Amp unless your using an iPod to be honest cause it significantly improves the iPod devices.
That's my 2 cents, take it or leave it as you wish.

Yeah, I noticed no change in sound quality with my e5. However it can make it a LOT louder, so if that's something you need, you might still want to consider getting one of these

The galaxy s 2 does also have line out which bypasses the headphone jack (for example the samsung car dock does line-out over the micro usb port) but there doesn't seem to be anything available to buy to do this without the dock. However as claimui said you can make your own cable too
Just bought a used/refurbished Tab 3 7.0 from Amazon.
The sound quality when connected to a stereo cable going to my truck's stereo aux in is VERY poor, scratchy, staticy and only hitting the left channel well.
However, when i try headphones, it sounds fine.
I have, for basic troubleshooting purposes:
-Know that the aux in jack in the truck is fine... it works with my HTC ONE and other devices i've tried.
-Know that the stereo audio cable(s) im using are fine. Again, used them with multiple devices to troubleshoot.
-Used multiple headphones and earphones to troubleshoot. I even used my skull candy's with detachable audio cable, then immediately tried that cable in the truck.
Audio is "tolorable" if the tablet is set to 40% or less, but that requires cranking the truck WAY higher then it should be.
Once i hit 50% of volume, it starts sounding like crap, and once i hit 70% its unusable.
However, with any earphones or headphones, i can push it all the way to 100% without distortion (and no, not wearing them while i do it)
Im thinking a software issue somewhere.
The tablet says "earphones connected" no matter which cable i plug in, headphones or aux cable.
Also, in accessibility the "mono if using a single earpiece" box is UNCHECKED.
I have the exact same issue. Were you able to figure it out?
EDIT: I found this link where safariking made a zip file to remove bloatware. I ran it and my sound is vastly improved.

I really like this phone, everything about it is great for me EXCEPT the sound quality. Anything that has to do with the headphone jack is an absolute disaster.
First off I have not experienced the dreaded AUX problem but I have experienced random pausing and skipping - as if I was pressing music controls on my headset - both in my car and on my headphones. I think a headphone jack is starting to wear?
Next I have experienced terrible distortion and static in the left channel, that was until I rooted and Installed Viper4Android. While the problem didn't go away entirely its much better than stock.
Im using my g3 with 3 or 4 devices....

Fiio e6 amp (with the shures, sometimes helps sound quality)

The flaws of the g3's sound output are noticeable on any of these, even the bluetooth soundlink and ESPECIALLY, on the SE846 direct.
I created this thread because I dont know what to do, its apparent I am an audiophile and care about my sound quality and youd think Id invest in some sort of MP3 player (I do have a Clip+ ) but I really enjoy using spotify. Should I buy a DAC and just avoid the g3s sound card all together or call and fight with LG and see what they can do?
Is anyone else having these problems? I have the Verizon Device.
I use Westone's connected through a Sony SB52. I haven't noticed any issue except that I like Sony's Walkman app better on my Xperia than LG's player.
I'm fairly picky about music quality and I haven't noticed any issues at all with my HD419s (the only headphones I have right now). Audio quality through aptx bluetooth directly to a car amp and polk component speakers is as good as one would expect too. No skipping or pausing with LG's app. Is that happening when your screen is on? Try turning it off, maybe it's a screen issue? Or maybe it's a glitch with the app you are using? The only problem I had with it was how quiet it was with headphones but the fix with root worked well.
There are several threads about the strange hissing sound - which I also got myself. LG has told me that they're working on fixing it and that it's a known flaw in the current ROMs.
I just got mine and I think this is the best sounding phone I have ever heard. Of course my expectations were very low after my experience with Apple and Samsung.
This opinion is coming from a very jaded HiFi gearhead so your mileage may vary.
The problem I'm facing..
There is noise+distortion+hissing during call
And when headphones are connected I cant understand or listen any thing I only hear wired noises..

The sound quality has been noticeably bad for me using headphones also, bluetooth isn't too much of a problem and works fine.
I just got my headphone jack replaced free from LG (as it was doing the random skipping thing) - I quoted that it was a known problem (i mean look on XDA for all the threads) and as my phone was under warranty, i flashed stock firmware and sent it back - when i got it back in 48 hours it was replaced and working. They even cleaned the screen for me lol.
I don't use a headset, only headphones, and the quality is most noticeable on my sennheiser hd800s, but also on my beyerdynamic headphones. Install Viper audio and it improves slightly.
I got mine replaced today as well.

When I plug in my headphones to the HTC, it acknowledges that they are plugged in as the headphone symbol shows up but no sound comes when I play a video or a game. These headphones came with the phone too. BUT when I use these same headphones on my iPhone it works perfectly, so I know something is wrong with the HTC, not the headphones. Other headphones also don't work on the HTC. Only the HTC's inbuilt speakers work but no sound from headphones. Do anyone know how to fix this problem?

Could be your headphone jack. It may be possible to replace it yourself, or pay someone to do it for you.
Headphone jack, probably worn out or has crap in it clogging it up. Mine is still working well with headphones but no dice with my car headphone to aux cable. The cable is probably outdated. I have 3rd party headphones that worked well at first but now the microphone is acting up during calls and boomsound "glitches" on and off now and again. Headphones are in good - very good condition but I can't rule out an internal break in the wire.
I would be inclined to say that the m9 has sensitive electronics attached to the headphone jack and any short circuits or voltage/amperage/resistance discrepancies would be picked up to protect the rest of the sound system. Headphone jacks tend to arc too which is why you get a thump in speakers when you connect or disconnect the jack.

I have been trying a lot of custom ROMs recently on my Z2 Plus and I noticed the audio quality from the 3.5mm headphone jack is not particularly good on any of them. When listening to a piece of music or a podcast with quiet sections, a crackling noise is audible that makes it hard to hear any detail in the audio. The problem is most notable at low volume levels of just a few notches. I tried disabling any audio enhancements like the 'AudioFX' app that comes with Lineage-based ROMs, but this did not make much difference.
I listened to the same MP3 files on my ZTE Axon 7 and the audio is crystal-clear with no crackling present in the slightest. I'm using a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50 monitor headphones.
I know the ZTE Axon 7 has a Hi-Fi audio DAC which might explain why it sounds so much clearer, but I didn't expect the difference to be this much... Is the bad audio quality just a limitation of the ZUK Z2's hardware, or is it something that the custom ROMs are not implementing correctly?

Thanks, I actually tried both of these tips before making this thread but I wasn't overwhelmed by the difference in audio quality... When playing music I still hear the crackling/static kind of noise during the quiet parts. I think it's probably a limitation of the hardware more than anything else.
Do you guys think using a 3.5mm to Type-C adapter with a built-in DAC would solve this problem? Then I could play music through the Type-C port instead of using the headphone jack.

You can always use a external dac via usb c port. Someone from zukfans.eu said it is working. But external dacs are expensive. Type c to 3.5mm jack adapters wont do anything if it does not have any dac inbuilt

Okay, thanks. The reason I mentioned the Type-C adapters is because I thought some of them were marketed as having an inbuilt DAC. But that could be wrong and the ZUK might not have compatibly to use it anyway.
Yeah, I don't like the thought of buying an external DAC since I don't intend on keeping this phone much longer anyway. I'm just having trouble choosing my next handset since the smartphone market is so stagnant at the moment. LG V30 would be good for audio quality but it uses PWM which hurts my eyes too much.
try paranoid rom nougat version, it was the only rom in which I felt the audio quality was better. ZUK 2 clearly have poor hardware, my old moto g3 sounds much better.
