how to get more icons in the status bar - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

I wonder how to get more icons in the status bar. The place is there, but only the left time is shown and the right only this two icons.

(If you're willing to root...) I've installed GravityBox and disabled the clock (or move it to the center, it hides under the notch)... At least I have 3~4 icons (3 icons + the dot if more than 4 notifications are there)

The clock can be hidden without root using systemui tuner. Some other icons can also be hidden (eg. I hide the alarm indicator since I always have an alarm set)
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...roid-9-0-pie-remove-status-bar-icons-0186364/

I probably wrote it wrong, but my problem is that I don't see more than 2 icons on the right.I don't have root.
And this application does not help

Hello Tramin,
Good Day !
Dear Have You Tried To Reduce Screen Resolution Size ? I Mean Go In Developer Options => Smallest Width (Around 448 dp). It Will Reduce Your Screen Resolution Size And You Can Get More Space In Notification Bar.
Greetings...
Thanks,
MUHAMMAD Asif Qasim

It can definitely fit more than 2. I can sometimes get 5 if they're narrow or overlap. The traffic arrows are the worst.

@aasiaasi:No change, what's wrong with my phone??

Probably because of the notch, this phone shows less icons by default. Eg. Bluetooth only shows when connected. My previous phone showed more icons by default but it had no notch and ran marshmallow.
To make more icons appear...
Connect a Bluetooth device.
Plug in headphones.
Set an alarm.
Put the phone on silent/vibrate or do not disturb.
Be on 4g while WiFi is available but needs sign in (both WiFi and 4g icons display).
Re enable battery icon.
Run Google maps.
Run a hotspot.
Is that what you mean?

Thanks, it's probably it.But it's not entirely correct, because bluetooth is on all the time and the icon is not visible.

The icon only shows if something is connected to Bluetooth.

Oh,thanks

Regular xposed is not available. EdXposed runs on pie. It's a new thing that tries to be compatible with Xposed. Many modules are not compatible. Gravity box is.
I strongly recommend having mm (magisk manager) setup before playing with EdXposed because bootloops are fairly common and mm from twrp let's you turn off EdXposed so you can boot again. Then you can fix the module/setting that caused a problem.

power toggles works great except for 2 things...

1. No way to set the brightness to 0%.. why won't it go below 10%?
2. GPS toggle brings up location services menu instead of actually toggling the GPS on.
Anyone have a solution to either?
You can always use an app to get those toggles or just wait for the custom ROMS.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 0% means no brightness at all......
So how the hell are u gonna bring it back up when u can't see a thing?

Not sure if it's zero but installed power widget goes much darker than power toggle does
Make power toggles a system app with titanium backup, then pressing the gps icon will turn it on rather than take you to the location access screen.

Just move /data/app/com.painless.pc-1.apk to /system/app/com.painless.pc-1.apk , chmod 644 /system/app/com.painless.pc-1.apk and reboot.
Need root
Thanks!
I would VERY much like to have no icon rather an an invisible one. The blank space seems off. Any possible edits there?
There has to be a way to get rid of the icon. In the description of the app, he mentioned that it can't because of the api but extended controls removes it from notification but when you enable notification controls, a widget is still left on the screen. Which this one has an option to remove that.

The GPS thing is general. After 3.0 update no app is allowed to change GPS state so you need a work around. Tasker can't change GPS states either. Either do it manually, or install secure settings. Needs root.

Yes ofc as u can see in the screenshot there is a huge space between the battery status and the message notification. That is because of power toggles. I choose transparent but the space is still there, how do I move that space? The creator of the app said it cant be done but I am quite sure someone has done it before...so please help me out

has nothing to do with gps mate
fyi an update a few weeks back fixed the GPS on/off location services bug.
still no way to set the minimum brightness below 10 however.
i have to go into the brightness settings and manually move it lower if i want the screen to be dimmer.
that still bugs me.

Setting the notification priority to 1 instead of 5 and restarting the app removes the icon. The toggles can't be pinned to top however.

[MOD][NMF26U/V] NavBar Tuner, Additional QS Tile Rows, NavBar DPI - TWRP Flashable

I have done some basic mods for the Pixel that have been well received, and @StickyEyez requested I do it for the Pixel XL as well. You can see my original post here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel/themes/mod-navbar-tuner-additional-qa-tile-rows-t3522314
**I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES TO YOUR DEVICE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK**
**v1.0 2017.01.05**
This mod is based on the NMF26V update, but it should work on NMF26U as well. It may work on older versions, but I have no information regarding this. If you want to test on other versions, you should back up your original /system/framework/framework-res.apk and system/priv-app/SystemUIGoogle/SystemUIGoogle.apk
NMF26# increased the NavBar height to a ridiculous 48dpi, so I have added 4dpi step-downs to 32dpi.
I've also made changes to make the Statusbar slightly smaller at 20dpi (original is 24dpi).
Only install one of each mod at a time. The NavBar/Statusbar mode impacts framework-res.apk and System UI mods impact SystemUIGoogle.apk, so if you select multiple it'll just install the last one you selected.
The mods that can be applied are:
NavBar/StatusBar dpi
0dpi/0dpi
0dpi/20dpi
0dpi/24dpi
32dpi/24dpi
32dpi/20dpi
36dpi/24dpi
36dpi/20dpi
40dpi/24dpi
40dpi/20dpi
44dpi/24dpi
44dpi/20dpi
48dpi/20dpi
SystemUI Mods
NavBarUI Manager + Brightness
NavBarUI Manager + Brightness + 4 QS Tiles
NavBarUI Manager + Brightness + 4 QS Tiles + Battery Mod
Return to Stock
framework-res.apk
SystemUIGoogle.apk
Note, the 0dpi/0dpi mod is actually 0dpi/1dpi because if you set the statusbar to 0dpi you cannot pull it down while in apps. If applied to a standard setup, you will find that the tops of the clock show in the statusbar, and will not look good. But if you use a different launcher, I have been told this is not noticeable.
You can download the mod here Stranula_Full_Flash_v1.zip
To install you will need to have TWRP installed, then simply install the zip and follow the on screen menus.

I am about to be on a plane for the rest of the day, so I've updated the original post. @Cbass15 has reported the installer and mods to be working, so hopefully it is good to go. He is also going to be putting up some screenshots soon.
Here is just a couple of screenshots...
The first picture is a picture of the 4QT, along with brightness adjuster removed and battery percent enabled
The picture with a Nav bar is 32/24
The picture without a Nav Bar is 0/20
Want to see anymore screenshots before you flash? Let me know,I'll hook you up with one. :good:
Any chance of adding the center clock mod?
I don't see much point in removing the brightness slider as it does not shrink the area it was in. Unless you literally don't want to accidentally touch it.

If you don't want to disable the brightness bar, then don't disable it. It is an option in the UI Tuner. You can toggle it easily.

Yeah, it's a toggle. I just find it unfortunate that it doesn't really shrink down.
Thanks for this package, BTW. I just did this manually myself yesterday because nobody had anything that would allow for the navbar tuner in 7.1.1...

Unfortunately, not from me. I don't have the time to invest in modding. I just happen to be on vacation and had some spare time to do this.
I've been waiting to root and install TWRP until we get xposed framework because I want to hide the nav bar and enable pie controls. I see with this mod that I can hide the nav bar. Are there any good apps or installs for pie control like the GravityBox module with Xposed? I would love something that works similar to the pie controls in GravityBox. I've tried stuff like LMT but it doesn't appear to be as smooth.

If you don't want the nav bar at all, you will need something like pie controls or something similar.

Navigation buttons anyway to swap them around ? and make them appear or disappear ?

All my recent phones have been Oneplus phones (5 and a 5T) and there is always an option to change the order of the recent and back buttons, I tend to prefer them the opposite way round .....but usually not an issue to change, but I cannot find any button switching on the recent and back buttons.
Also is there a option to make the recent and back buttons just drop off the screen when surfing , on the 5T you can assign a gesture so just flick up from the bottom of the screen and the buttons appear, which is really useful when reading a website as it gives you more screen to view rather than losing a centimetre from the bottom of the screen.....but once again I cannot find such an option.....anyone know how or if this can be set ?
Other than those and the battery percentage not showing ( I just use an app instead and turn the battery icon off) I am enjoying the phone, but those two fairly minor things would be nice to work out...
Probably you need root to do this on stock Android (there is already a pre-patched Magisk boot.img for the A2L). Then an app or a (still non-existent) Magisk module will do the trick.

Not yet, but as I said above, if you search in the development section (very easy, there is only one thread at the moment) there is a user that posted a modified boot image that includes Magisk.
If you flash that image via fastboot and then install the Magisk manager apk, you'll be ok (there is a link to a guide in the same post with the boot image).
u can use xda navigation gusture..

HI , The only issue with the link is that it explains for rooted then has a link for non-rooted which takes you take a page of 24 pages full of different hacks that do not seem to explain how to do this for non-rooted phones.
Do you have a direct link to the non-rooted method please.

for the guys who don´t know if you press the settings button on the navigation bar bar about 10 sec ( keep doing until a new option appears on system menu) called interface tuning or similar that you can tweak the status bar
You can use "custom navigation bar", using adb instead of root.
this is not true. if it is true, show us.

yes i can confirm that pressing the settings button on the notification shades for a few second make system UI tuner to appear on settings above developer settings. and it's only purpose is for hiding some statusbar icons.

Question: Status Bar Customization Tool in Android P v10.0.2.0

********
Hello,
it is really annoying
I have not found a suitable app to modify the status bar yet.
You can, however, set the DPI setting (minimum width) higher in the developer options.
So everything gets smaller and it fits more in the status bar.

Hi guys,
I just updated my Mi A2 Lite to the latest Android P version (v10.0.2.0) from Android Oreo.
At the end so far so good, but... for my OCD I have a very annoying issue.
It's a bit hard to explain that, but let's try:
In my status bar, by default, I have: Battery + %, 2 SIM Signals + WiFi + Do Not Disturb
In Oreo all good, but apparently Pie added the WiFi up/down network activities "arrow" and every time those arrows come out, basically auto hide my "Do Not Disturb" icon and replace with a small dot.
You can see it inside my 2 screenshot.
As I said, this is for me it's super annoying because my eyes are distract from the status bar that keep changing every seconds.
First of all, that happen to you guys? And doesn't annoying you?
I tried to use UI Tuner, but it seems working only with few icons, not with WiFi icon.
Do you know some tool (root) that can remove maybe the 2nd sim signal? Or maybe remove the network activities.
No idea... I just want my Oreo status bat back
Any idea?
Really appreciated and thanks!

Until then, only with the user interface tuner. I do not know anything that works with root.
If you deactivate the percentage of the battery is already gaining space and if the do not disturb is disabled, you will gain more space yet.

Use "UI Tuner Launcher"
You can download it from Play Store
Same problem for me, biggest grip with Pie
Has anyone find its solution ?
Because i noticed this after upgrading to pie (on oreo the dual sim signal indicator stack one over another)
Can't we mod or just have like oreo?
I can get battery percentage with System UI tuner (Nova launcher), but...hehe...I can see now %
But alarm icon, wifi/data icon and 1st SIM icon gone under little dot.
This is really frustrating.
And 1 more thing after PIE upgrading: there is no alarm icon and time on lock screen (when alarm is on).
Pie it's not an upgrade...for me look like downgrade.
EDIT: all fine now with lock screen...by itself somehow
Having the same problem. Statusbar icons dis- and reappearing every few seconds, why someone thought this is a good design choice is beyond my understanding.
Has someone found a solution yet?

Question No status bar in display settings?

I would like to add the seconds to the clock on my status bar and the way I do old phone is settings>display>status bar, but there is status bar settings in the display settings? Any other way to add seconds to the clock on the status bar?
Going to clock app and settings does not help.
You'll probably have to root and wait for a root solution that would work with the Pixel 6 Pro. There's some chance you'd be able to do it without root, but not much. There's an app in the Play Store called SystemUI Tuner. At minimum it would likely require some work with Google's Platform Tools (ADB, etc) unless it just flat out requires root to enable that.
And thanks for reminding me, I meant to find out for myself what I can do with the SystemUI Tuner on the 6 Pro before I root.
I'll be looking for "seconds" on resolution as well....

I just confirmed that it seems to me that ADB isn't enough to get SystemUI Tuner working at all. It is or used to be for some other apps that had more limited capability, but likely to get seconds would need root no matter what.
