Does this twrp work on android pie?

link broken

Bug report.
Hello developer of current TWRP for Nokia 3, i am going to report some bugs based on what i have seen and experienced, if you do see this message, please note that i am willing to become a tester for the recovery of this device, i am now going to start stating the problems, please also note that i am using Nokia 3 with Pie ROM, Bootloader unlocked, rooted with Magisk, i am using TWRP 3.2.3 from https://unofficialtwrp.com/nokia-3-root-twrp-3-2-3/, i also believe this is the same with the TWRP that @RevanthTolety made, in other words, you, let me introduce the problems to you.
i have attached the pictures of the bugs, as well as logs, to help you all regarding about this problem, i have messaged all five of you in hopes that some of you are still willing to develop a proper, working recovery for the Pie ROM of this device, or at least team up in making one, anything as long as this project will still continue or something will be done.
Bugs i have found:
1. Decrypting of data, the recovery is asking me for a password and i have no idea what to do, i have never encrypted my device, or anything, and here is what i have done so far:
1a. Formatted data through TWRP, rebooted into recovery and applied root.
1b. Wiped data through TWRP, rebooted into recovery, then applied with root.
1c. All of the above, except this time i flashed no verity opt encrypt, didn't work.
1d. Formatted data through fastboot, rebooted into recovery immediately and applied root.
For the most part, by the time i managed to format or wipe my data/userdata, i am able to gain access on it through TWRP, and the recovery isn't asking me for a password, but once i am able to fully set up my device and it reaches the home screen, not putting any screen locks, just Swipe, rebooting into recovery again, and now it asks me for a password, i tried "default_password" and "password" but it didn't work, at this moment, i can only flash zips through my MicroSD Card, the recovery doesn't have access to my internal storage and i couldn't make a backup with my userdata.
2. TWRP gets replaced with stock recovery if you do not boot into it immediately after flashing, trust me, this is where i got frustrated the most, i was about to smash the phone because of this! I still had to root to ensure that the recovery will stay, or else at next boot the stock recovery will be back.
3. Battery percentage is shown incorrectly, based on the 5 forums i've seen which is all related to porting TWRP for this phone, this error has been very consistent.
4. The recovery keeps showing me a prompt of asking whether to keep System read-only or not, even though i selected the box "Don't show me this screen again.", it still comes back anyway.
5. The recovery complains about '/hidden/emmc_hidden" not being found and all that.
6. I cannot save my language, even though i already toggled it through the settings of the recovery.
7. Touch is very slow during the first screen which is the "Keep System read-only?"
Here are the things i confirmed to be working:
MicroSD Card access
OTG access
Installing .zips
I cannot test the backup and restore option since i can't access data through it, i don't want to lose progress.
The link is broken so i couldn't test the recovery from the true source which is you, hopefully you could still provide me the recovery you actually ported to see if anything is wrong, but if the recovery i obtained from the link i provided is from yours, then please hopefully you could provide a fix for it, you are currently the latest developer for this recovery so i expect you can still do it, the device tree is also still intact and that's the reason why i still have hopes, i want to help not only myself, but also other Nokia 3 users regarding about this, please lets do something so all Nokia 3 phones with Pie ROM can enjoy a fully stable TWRP.
That's all of the bugs i have seen so far, i am going to use my friend's phone who happens to own a Nokia 3 for testing the recovery, if i still haven't received a response within 1 week i will return the cellphone, you could contact me through Telegram, Facebook and other social media sites such as Instagram, i am willing to take the risk, please contact me if you all are still willing to continue with the development of TWRP for this cellphone.

The link doesn't work
I get a 404 error when I click the link

Here is Slimkat 10 unofficial built from sources on March 2. Built using JDK-7, which turned out to be beneficial for the rom. Slim, fast, smooth and stable. For those of you who have been using Lollipop for a while, you will see how much faster, smoother and more stable kitkat is. Everything works: no reboots, no freezing, no overheating, no screen light flickering, no video recording/play problems, great battery life and abundance of features. This taken together with improved security makes a pretty darn good rom. I tried it and got rid of Lollipop.
Changes:
1. New Iptables binaries which allow to stop kernel communicating (if used with Afwall) with Google home.
2. Changes in Vold to enable 256 bit AES encryption, as opposed to default 128 bit
3. Key length increased for multiple keys
3. Kernel with disabled Selinux and enabled Tomoyo together with all ciphers/hushes/digests/random number generation tools
4. Latest changes from Google code (I was surprised finding changes pushed for kitkat while synching Google source)
5. TWRP 2.8.x integrated in boot image
Install:
1. Be on Kitkat, rooted with recovery
2. Enter recovery and wipe Cache/System/Data
3. Flash the rom and reboot
4. Enjoy and say thank you or perhaps donate

cuz latest kk build by Slim Team is 9.0 : https://github.com/SlimRoms/vendor_slim/blob/kk4.4/config/common.mk#L154
so you must have made some major changes to call it build 10, right?

Thanks for all your awesome roms
I downgraded from CM12 because it feels like each LP-Rom needs more polishing.
The Rom installed successfully (did a system / data / cache Wipe) but now I am unable to get into recovery. It is stuck on the Sony Logo. Just starting the OS works fine though.
Edit:
I tried flashing TWRP 2.8.6.0 via Flashboot.
Flash was successfull, but I still get stuck on the Sony Logo when i try to get into recovery.
The Led also switches lights from purple to orange.

If you have recovery in Fota partition, it is known to collide with in boot image recovery resulting in no recovery at all. So, you need to get rid of Fota recovery to use internal one. For that do this in fastboot: fastboot erase recovery; then fastboot reboot...

Thank you! That did it.
But I still dont quite understand what happened here.
So i had 2 partitions, fota and recovery, each having a recovery installed. 'fastboot erase' does delete the one in the recovery partition, leaving only the one in fota.
That sounds kind of wrong for me, because I do want to use the recovery I install via fastboot.

Xperias don't have recovery partition. Fota is used by stock firmware only, so it is available in custom roms, hence recovery image could be installed there. However, the normal way for custom roms is to incorporate recovery into boot image, which is faster. This was until lollipop, when the not so smart folks at Cyanogen, gave up on CWM (which was always in boot image) and came up with their own recovery. CM recovery does not work, so TWRP guys figured out a way to install their recovery in Fota, instead of having users/developers decompiling boot image, replacing CM recovery with TWRP and recompiling the image again. That's what I do in CM based kernels, but Slimrom folks use TWRP in boot by default.
So, when you did fastboot erase recovery, you got rid of recovery in fota partition. Now, you have TWRP in boot image.
Running it for 2 days now and I am highly satisfied.
I downgraded from Lollipop (tried CM, crDroid, another CM-Based Rom and Custom Stock) because each Rom caused 2 main issues: Runtime decreased from 2 days to 1 day and the infamous touch screen issues.
Running this Rom, these issues are gone. I am again at 2 days runtime and I can finally write longer messages without beeing bothered by an unresponsive screen. The system feels reliable again.
Only issue i found so far, is that my headphones are sometimes not recognized. In these cases, I have to unplug and plug them in again until the system recognizes them. I had the same issue when I was on KitSlim_AMG, but not on stock. So this might be a bug in the SlimBean / CM Code-Base.

You are forgetting the heat issue, which requires RECALL. I am not a huge gamer, but CPU can easily get to 75-80 degrees after using Firefox/Fennec for about 10 minutes. Then flickering and other heat protection kick in. Note, that most users won't notice overheat, because glass is not a very good heat conduit. They just complain of backlight flickering. However, if you enable CPU stats in developer options, you can see the temperature on screen. This is a shame (overheating), especially that LP has been around for about 7 months to no avail. You can't blame the processor, since there is no heat issue on kitkat and jb.
Lollipop, in my view, is the worst ever android version: linux (which is great) + google poop (google does what it does best) = lollipop. Really, the name should be Lollipoop.

So the boot image doesn't have a kernel? Do I have to fastboot flash recovery recovery.img if I don't have the bootloader update?

I can't get Treble to work with the OnePlus 5T - please help

Hi all,
so today I found a treble-enabled ROM of Android Pie and wanted to flash it. Thing is, I need to enable treble for me first. The treble check says that Treble is indeed supported, and so does the OnePlus website, but I don't have access to the vendor partition in TWRP. Using TWRP 3.2.3-1, by the way.
So, I read that MoKee enables Treble. Tried that, flashed the rom, flashed the radio and then the rom, factory wiped, flashed rom, factory wiped, flashed radio and rom, nothing. Still can't get Treble support. Then I tried kylothow's Trebliser, but nothing there either. I am realy at a loss here - I even reinstalled OOS (newest beta of course) and I couldn't get the vendor partition to show up, which is weird considering installing said trebliser actually states "Vendor partition found, good!" when installing, and then proceeds to in fact patch the vendor partition. It just doesn"t do anything, I can't install GSIs, can't even get the treble check to register that I do in fact have treble.
So this is where I turn to you guys. Do you have any idea what I could do in this situation? Please answer genuinely and don't post "just wait for an official android p".
Thanks!
Okay there's a few things remember here after flashing the mokee trebleize pack you should have had the addition of the vendor partition included in your TWRP file system if you have the blue spark TWRP version YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THE ADDITION OF THE VENDOR PARTITION WHEN YOU GO TO MOUNT FOLLOWING THAT.
*** Make sure that after the trebleize is installed or whatever don't touch vendor partition ever just leave it alone you don't need to do anything to it it's fine if some ROM needs to update it you don't have to worry about wiping it first because it'll take care of that with the configuration script in the zip file. Even if you want to go back to a regular Android 8. 1 ROM you don't have to worry about the vendor partition the way it's set up the vendor partition that exist inside the one plus 5T that was created for Treble is not seen by any AOSP ROMs so it's going to create its own vendor folder inside of the system partition like it normally does and that you will not conflict because the fs tab does not Mount the new vendor. By leaving vendor alone and never touching it you're just ensuring that when you flashed yes eyes you're not missing something that's essential to the boot up process and it's one thing that you can from any potential uncertainty as to why a treble mage may or may not be booting.
Follow this....
Normal Android ROMs you would usually wipe system data cache D-cache if you were going to install a new ROM that wasn't just an upgraded version of the one that you were already running you'd have to start from scratch always. This is still what you should do it whenever you want to start and flash a fresh regular ROM or treble run always do that but it's how you proceed from here that is a little difference between the two.
With a regular ROM you would just go on to flash the ROM that you want to install followed by Gapps and so on.
When you want to flash a treble image you need to be on a clean fresh ROM that has treble support already good to go in that it can see that vendor partition that was made before and that it contains the binderized HALs needed as well. Because official treble support is still in beta with the OnePlus 5T the only officially supported treble Android 8. 1 ROM is mokee so you always want to start with a clean flash of the Mokee ROM because it also contains the supported kernel and ramdisk and other things as well.
Upon flashing a fresh version of mokee you want to go ahead and Flash no-dm-variety to ensure data is not encrypted because it will lead to a bootloop and the only way to get it to work will be to either format your SD card or to install the no variety which is the way to go just install it every time you flash mokee so that way you know everything is good.
**** I've only had experience using Android 8. 1 GSi so I'm not sure exactly how it would work concerning open G apps because I've only had to do it with two 8. 1 apps I'm not touching the Android P treble ROM until it's official so anything that I'm saying here has nothing to do with that if that's the image you're trying to install that I can't help you with it because I don't honestly know I remember reading something about that changing something different with it and I got to read up more on it.****
So next part depends on whether the GSI you're trying to flash comes with GFS included inside of it some do some don't I think most do but just make sure you read the instructions on the forms from where you download them from where they will tell you about the gf's the ones that I've installed that didn't have gf's on I would install mokee then I would flashed gf's to mokee but I've seen ones where people have flashed the gf's after flashing the treble images well and they didn't have any problem so just make sure you read into that one. obviously if the GS I can change the gf's then don't flash any before flashing or after as it will be flashed when we install it to the image and everything will be.
Which brings us to the last part if you did everything right up to this point then you should have no trouble installing the GSI through either TWRP or fastboot but before you do just make sure you go back to White and you just swipe to factory reset again so that we know that we cleaned out the data and we're on something clean after on encrypting the data if you did Flash no variety but remember don't wipe any partitions you want to make sure that you leave mokee on there. if you do it correctly you won't even need to wipe anything afterwards you should literally just need to be able to install the image into the system partition now and then reboot and it should work fine
It's your choice on how to go about doing it I've had success with TWRP but I've had more success using the fastboot method if for some reason you do try TWRP and it flashes and says success in 10 seconds then just reboot to fastboot mode in just flash it from there because you probably going to run into an issue just factory reset it again before you do it by swiping you don't have to wipe any of the partitions leave those alone.
So either go to the fastboot route which is put the phone in fastboot Point your terminal to the area where your GSI is located on your computer and then type fastboot flash system xxxGSI NAMEXXX.IMG.... OBVIOUSLY REPLACE THE FIRST PART WITH THE ACTUAL NAME OF YOURS. Next press enter and give it a few seconds and then you should see it's a success at which time you can reboot the phone and it should boot after a few short minutes.
If you wanted to use the twrp I believe I saw something about how you have to be on version 3.2.2 or above most likely for blue spark version as I use that one because it has treble support and I can see the vendor image even though I don't touch it. So if you flash it here you want to make sure instead of rebooting to fastboot like before you would just go to install and select image then find the image on your phone select it and then select the system images where you are installing it and then wipe the bar at the bottom for Flash and then upon it finishing you should hit reboot and let the phone boot up the first time set it up and then you can go back and you can go back to TWRP if you want to flash magisk or any other modules or TWRP Zips I've stated first then make sure you move the phone and go back and do all the modifying after otherwise you're getting stuck. I hope this helps feel free to contact me if you have any trouble.

Bro can u plz tell me how to get back to 8.1 oreo i am on 9.0 and didn't get treble support

Installing GSI ROMs on Mi8 Pro

The below is a guide to installing GSI images on the Mi 8 Pro. I specifically have experience with the PixelExperience 9.0 (Unofficial) but have had other GSI ROMs booting and working. I hope this is useful for some.
GSI (Generic System Image) ROMS can be flashed to any Project Treble enabled device. These devices have either an A/B partition layout (these allow for seamless updating as the system can boot from A or B partition) or just an A only partition layout. The Mi 8 Pro is an arm64 a only device and support project treble ROMs. You can choose from suitable ROMs listed here and here.
The instructions given below are for Android Pie (9.0). The same basic setup can be used for Android Oreo (8.0, 8.1) ROMs, but the Mi 8 Pro should be flashed with the appropriate Xiaomi base ROM first before flashing any 8 based GSI ROM
As the ROM development for the Mi 8 Pro is basically dead, I decided to buy a OnePlus 6T and sell my Mi 8 Pro. However, due to having my new OnePlus 6T stolen, and due to a lack of funds to buy a new device, I have revived my Mi 8 Pro to try to get something other than MIUI working on it. I now have The PixelExperience (Unofficial) GSI ROM running very smoothly on my Mi 8 Pro.
As the PixelExperience team has stated they will be delivering GSI images again, if there are enough of us asking, we could get better support for things like the fingerprint sensor, for a more complete experience.
Some of the below steps may be unnecessary, but are there for a complete beginner's guide to doing this and getting the right results.
Working:
WiFi
Bluetooth (with APTX)
NFC (Including Google Pay)
RIL
Mobile data (LTE / HSPDA / 3G / EDGE)
GPS
Camera (with camera built in to ROM, as well as some GCAM implementations)
Video Camera (not working on GCAM implementations tested so far - only working on Camer built in to ROM)
Flashlight
Sound / Vibrations
Face Unlock
Hotspot
Not Working:
VoLTE (I have had it working, but unable to end phone calls and problems receiving SMS messages, so reverted)
Fingerprint (There is some support. The fingerprint area of the screen lights up when trying to enrol a new fingerprint. The screen dims when a finger is placed on the sensor, and a green light us emitted from the sensor area, but it does not register the fingerprint and this is not currently working.)

How to install
Flash the latest Fastboot Global Stable Android PIE (9.0) ROM for the Mi 8 Pro. (eg. equuleus_global_images_V10.3.4.0.PECMIXM_20190712.0000.00_9.0_global_9a181f79c1.tgz) using the Xiaomi Tool.
Update: Use the latest MIUI system. The contents of the vendor partition are important. The most compatible vendor partition as of 2019-08-19 is from equuleus_global_V10.3.5.0.PECMIXM. You can download and flash that vendor independantly, if you have already set up your GSI image.
Reboot and finish basic MIUI setup.
Reboot to recovery.
[*]Format data (Wipe - Advanced - format data - confirm by typing yes)
DO NOT FORMAT DATA. Just perform a factory reset. Formatting data can cause issues and prevent booting.
Wipe Cache - Dalvik Cache and System
Reboot recovery
Use adb to push PixelExperience GSI image (img file extracted from download) and latest version of Magisk to root of SDCard. (Empty due to formatting data).
("adb push c:\path\system.img /sdcard/" and then "adb push c:\path\Magiskv19.3.apk /sdcard/")
Flash the image to system partition by taping INSTALL and then on the "Install Image" button (to toggle between flashing zip and img files). Do not reboot yet.
Flash magisk zip in the normal way (hit the same button as in previous step to show zip files to flash. (This is necessary to avoid bootloops)
Reboot, and enjoy.
You can now set up your "PixelExperience" device with your apps and settings, including registering a face for face unlock.
To pass cts validation for the safetynet and to allow service such as Google Pay to work
In Magisk, under settings - Find “Magisk Hide” and toggle the switch on
Magisk restarts. Go to Magisk Hide from the Magisk menu and ensure that...
Google Pay
Google Play
Google Play Services
Google Service Framework
Any Banking Apps
...are checked so that they cannot see Magisk (canont see phone as rooted).
Now go to downloads and install the SafetyPatch v3 module (created by hackintosh5).
Reboot.
Open settings - go to apps and notifications - and find the above apps to clear all data.
Enjoy your rooted safetynet compliant, as close to stock as possible Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro.

Face unlock works fine. I have it paired with Pick to wake phone - so when I pick it up it wakes up to allow face unlock.
However, be prepared for some investment of time (not for face unlock).... I am a bit stuck now and cannot reproduce the above to get this working. Sometimes the results are different depending on base ROM etc.
Share how you get on and anything you may need to do to get this working.
Thanks
Nice work, i will try it .
The mi8 pro 's fingerprint is so bad which can be ignored, and the face unlock is the mostly used, hahahah
thank you very much for your work
Hi, I am waiting to unlock bootloader. Need 148hrs. Will install this. Thanks for sharing.
Quick update: There are some issues with GSI ROMs and the Mi 8 Pro. SOe of these relate to the SIMcard settings - and selection of preferred SIM for data, calls etc.
My experience shows that the vendor image from equuleus_global_V10.3.5.0.PECMIXM fixes many of these. The vendor image from the original MIUI ROM is used with the GSI system image to make the whole Project treble stuff work. I advise flashing this latest vendor image for maximum compatibility.
Do you know what issues remain after flashing the latest vendor image?
Does the face unlock on Pixel Experience work with IR camera or front cam?
I tried installing this and it got stuck on the loading screen with the Google logo. I tried following your instructions and a few other ways and couldn't get it to work at all i'm also not able to root my phone at all. When ever I try rooting my phone just reboots to twrp until I reflash the ram or flash the magisk uninstaller.
Do you have any tips, tricks, or suggestions I might try?
Thanks!

Have experienced this on occasion also.
What GSI image have you tried? after my multiple efforts, I would recommend... in this order: Omni. HavocOS, Descendant(no future updates), PIxelExperience. I am hopeful about the PixelExperience team who have made an announcement that as of August they will no longer produce CAF versions of PixelExperience, and that they will maintain regular GSI builds also. PE official GSI - I am full of hope.
Anyway, back on topic: Try this.
Follow the instructions - a few precisions:
Use XiaoMiFlash to flash the equuleus_global_images_V10.3.4.0 as a base. You can update the vendor partition once you have GSI up and running, but don't let the MIUI update to 10.3.5. Ensure you define a PIN to make sure that data partition is encrypted. (everyone should use encryption nowadays, and besides, I have had bad experiences whn using a xiaomi eu or mi-globe ROM (unencrypted) as the base
Reboot and finish basic MIUI setup. - What I mean here is to let the ROM boot, don't have to sign in to Google or Mi, but get to the home screen after the initial setup.
Then reboot fastboot and flash TWRP 3.3.0. Search for TWRP-3.3.0-0504-XIAOMI8UD-CN-wzsx150.zip.
Boot to TWRP. Make sure that you are able to decrypt the data partition with the PIN you set earlier. If TWRP does not ask you for the passcode / PIN - something is wrong. Try again. ONce all is OK in TWRP, perform factory reset. (DO NOT FORMAT DATA for the aforementioned encryption reason).
adb push the img file.
adb push the Magisk 19.3 zip.
Flash both in TWRP
Reboot TWRP
Reboot system. If it appears to hang, after 5 minutes you can force restart with the power button. I have had the ROM boot OK after second boot only?
Pretty sure that if you strictly follow the above you should get a working GSI image on Mi 8 Pro. Let me know...
It's a bit flaky to set up, but once set up, apart from fingerprint sensor not working, very stable and lovely to have the stock ish android system on a MIUI phone!
Be careful with preferred network type for mobile network as some selections have messed up incoming SMS messages for me... a dealbreaker.
What happens when you flash Magisk? What does TWRP say? Have you tried flashing Magisk, rebooting TWRP, and flahing Magisk again? It may be a TWRP version issue?
Thanks for your reply!
The version of twrp you mention is what I have used. I have not tried installing then rebooting to twrp so I try that.
When flashing magisk it usually flashes fine (I have had a couple times where it just throws an error) then when I reboot the phone will boot past the Mi logo the the Android boot logo then after 10-15 sec. it just reboots to twrp.
I was finally able to get the twrp to stick across boots by flashing twrp, signing boot image, removing twrp then reboot to Miui.
Do I need to adb push the GSI image or should it be fine to install from a USB drive?
The SMS issue isn't really a big deal for me as I use Google Fi routed through hangouts for one sim and a local sim where I'm living for mostly data and a few phone calls for the second one
Thanks so much for this post. I was completely oblivious to the fact that the Mi 8 Pro would actually be different to the Mi 8 when it comes to custom roms. When I decided on my next phone, I read the positive reviews and saw enough Mi 8 roms to be willing to make a switch to Xiaomi. Until I read your post I was close to despairing as I don't want a Xiaomi rom on my phone for various reasons (among them is the fact that I don't trust them and the way they have decided to collect user data).
I've tried to follow your guide in every step (I've also flashed the updated vendor.img), but unfortunately I have not been able to install the Pixel Experience rom on my device. I do see the boot animation but it never stops, I'm forever stuck with the Google-G and the progress bar below it. Has anyone else managed to install the Pixel Experience rom on the Mi 8 Pro? If yes, did you follow the guide here or did you do something else?
Also, in your initial post you write that we should wipe the system in TWRP but as far as I can tell GSI roms need you to wipe data, cache and dalvik cache but not the system partition (if you do it, you also don't get asked for your PIN code in TWRP any more, which - as you said - indicates that something went wrong).
Did you install a particular version of the Pixel Experience rom? Maybe that might be part of my issue?
I have try many times installing it. Didn't manage to boot it up.
Finally, tested with Miroom ROM as base then flash the system.img manage to boot up.
Don't know why it didn't boot but at lease any one who have issue booting may want to try using Miroom rom as base.

What did you do to install miroom? I've been trying to install it and it just stays on the boot screen. The only non-official from I've been able to install and boot is the unofficial LineageOS rom by fenix-UK.

Hi, I am using a Chinese version. But once you unlock it you will be able to flash any version with the twrp.
I try rooting it with magisk but unable to boot up. That's why I turn to Miroom Rom. They have done something which can boot it up.

Thanks to exynos5420 team for the right kernel
Thx @Valera1978 that's great news.
Gonna test today.
Edit 6h later first impressions:
Coming from Lineage 14.1 Vanilla with TWRP 3.4.0-0.
Backed up everything, full wipe plus data format.
Installing purely the ROM with TWRP 3.4.0 led to "Error 7" 3.3.1 did the trick.
Made a reboot to check if it starts.
Noticed screen failures in form of small black bars/stripes which vanished after a few seconds when I let the screen settle.
(Appearing very often even now after full installation of everything I need.)
Rebooted to TWRP and installed BiTGapps (prefer them to opengapps as they are even smaller than pico) and Magisk.
After each flash wiped cache/dalvik of course.
Installed Nova prime (dark mode) and all my other apps.
Camera doesn't work with Lineage App (as said) but does with opencamera from f-droid.
Screenshots neither but using Quickboot is a workaround when activated in its settings.
When writing text and correcting failures the magnifier shows only a white field with now text in it even when dark mode is off.
Great work @Valera1978 will carry on testing.
Edit 18h later:
Firefox seems to have problems with it, doesn't often even open its add-on page or urls.
Lightning browser has no probs.
Only one sudden reboot until now.
Edit 24h later:
Tried to upload a pic with the screen problems but didn't work.
Mostly occuring when switching from portrait to landscape (reproducible).
Because of the Firefox problems I've tried the 79 version but starting it resulted directly in a reboot (reproducible).
I'm surprised there aren't more responses
Can confirm TWRP 3.3.1 is the latest recovery to work. Doesn't seem to work with 3.1.1
Can't change wallpaper. Not sure why. I have to go to live wallpaper to get the default one back
Ok Google needs to be installed manually
I get security flags from SELinux and Public trust certificates. Probably because the release is so early
Overall it's not bad for a Pre-Alpha release.
First of all: an awesome thank you to Valera1978 since I was expecting a newer version than 14.1 a long time
Have the same issue with the wallpaper change and some flickering in the display. Installed nova prime too but can`t close all apps in task manager only each manually single (wipe up)
I am eager for the next version and improvements :fingers-crossed: and willing to give further feedback.
THX a lot for your passion
the current version is rather a technical build for testing (public, the most stable, there were already about 40-50 internal builds for fixing bugs and checking various things).
In any way - lineage 17.1 coming soon (later today), release build done, on tests right now. And I like it much more, then technical 16.0 build.
I tried 16 and I like it. Looking forward to 17.1. Thanks for saving the P900 from an early grave you are and have been the best ?
i will try this process for the first time. Is there a video tutorial? thank you.

This ROM will probably not be in development any further as the brilliant dev @Valera1978 is already working on a 17.1.
About a video I don't know. Searching in YouTube might help finding out
Here is a very good description which I followed from @thompatry who's ROM is very stable, has a working camera (skype) and gets regularly updated.

Download it to SD.
As he quoted install a TWRP first to exchange the stock recovery.
Easiest to do is use a windows PC with Odin version 3.13.
Battery fully loaded before starting.
1.Download TWRP 3.3.1 for v1awifi from twrp.me but choose the tar version and save it in Odin folder.
2.Get P900 into download mode (turn it off, then press buttons Pwr, home, vol- altogether).
Will give you a warning but continue with vol+.
3.Start Odin then connect P900 to PC and check in Odin if a field on the left turns blue (com+).
4.Uncheck "auto reboot" in Odin.
5.Flash TWRP 3.3.1 with Odin onto P900 putting the downloaded TWRP file in "AP" field in Odin.
When Odin says "Pass" all is fine.
6.Turn P900 off with pwr button but press afterwards directly home and Vol+ together as it automatically reboots.
Then you access the new recovery.
If you fail the Samsung recovery gets reborn and you have to repeat steps 2-6 again but that does no harm.
Save all what is possible with TWRP to external SD using Backup.
Then wipe everything in TWRP (except SD ), select "format data" after that.
Select install and choose the ROM from SD.
Test if system starts. Might take a while.
If you want to use Google apps, download Gapps from opengapps (choose ARM, 7.1 and pico) and save it in advance to SD.
If system starts, turn it off, restart to recovery (pwr, home, vol+) and install Gapps.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all safe and well.
Just a quick question, do I use the latest version of TWRP for my P900 (note pro 12.2 wi-fi). There are versions on the website which are later than the 3.3.1 version in this post. At the moment my version is 1.22, so this is really old! This was obviously installed and I did the flash to 14.1.
Like I say, at the moment, I am using LineageOS 14.1 with an old security patch level (September 19) because I cannot seem to update it. I have tried the auto update, this fails and I have also tried to manually apply but this also does not work.
I was wondering whether it was time to upgrade to version 16 or 17.
I'm not an expert on this by any means and I recall I did struggle with some error message when trying to update to I think at the time line Lineage 15.
Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.
@mattgod69 auto updater I don't use/like at all.
My suggestion is download TWRP 2.8.7-0 as zip and flash this with your TWRP. It is the latest zip released.
From that on it can use img files and you can update further to 3.3.1 or higher.
For me 3.4.0 was needed to flash @Valera1978 LOS17.1.
3.3.1-0 for LOS14.1 by @thompatry which's Vanilla (version 20201215) I use for here camera is working instead of being on LOS17.1.
Thanks for the reply @bmwdroid, i was talking about the app which is version 1.2 (doh)... i have just booted into TWRP and i have version 3.3.1. So if you are using the same tablet as me, what would you upgrade to or would you leave it as is. Also, do you think i need to update the security patch level? Cheers and apologies if these are silly questions.

Mine is a P900 v1awifi.
I suppose that the app 1.2 refers to the TWRP app which I don't use and I've always read warnings to install it so I never did.
It is said that it sometimes causes problems when flashing.
And imo it's not needed anyhow.
If you need camera working for skype or else I recommend to flash the latest LOS14,1 mentioned above.
https://download.exynos5420.com/LineageOS-14.1-Deathly/v1awifi/
with the deathly adiutor built in
or
https://download.exynos5420.com/LineageOS-14.1-Vanilla/v1awifi/
which is a plain android system
The development of this LOS16 seems suspended as the dev is already working on LOS17.1 which I've tested, but as said has no working camera.
Therefore I can't say much about its stabilty but it worked with Bitgapps and Magisk for 4-5 hours until I switched back to LOS14.1.
If you want to test it: I had to upgrade TWRP to 3.4.0 to avoid "Error 7".
To go back to 14.1 I had to downgrade to 3.3.1 first.
Questions show that someone is willing to learn which should be appreciated.

Thank you for the detailed response, very helpful.
I dont really use the camera with my tablet, but i might, so its probably best to wait til 17.1 is working. The tablet is really just a browsing device i use beside my bed, its not an everyday machine.. so i am willing to try new things and play about with it.... it also does not matter if it is wiped accidentally etc.
i have to say it has been overall much better with 14.1 installed, far better than the stock OS. It is faster and more responsive.
Presumably I need new google apps etc download any new OS? If i install the latest LOS 14.1 do i also need new gapps etc? Is this OS much better than the one i have?
I do not know what Bitgapps and Magisk are?
Many thanks for all your help.... this community is great because even though i have done this a couple of times on different devices, there are long time gaps between doing it and it is still quite scary because i dont want to brick the device!
Just looked at Magisk... is it not a good idea to have this in any event? it looks like this would be earier to install later OS like LOS17.12? Is this right?
@mattgod69 BitGapps are an even smaller Google Apps version than Opengapps pico.
I use them on Android Q, as opengapps weren't working properly at that time being.
I don't use Google TTS and always had to block it when using opengapps.
Magisk is an equivalent to SU which is no longer continued.
It's neede for all apps needing root like AFWall, DeviceInfo and many others.
If you or your tab are happy without there's no need flashing it.
It causes no probs when switching ROMs as long as it's a clean flash.
Even updating ROMs dirty works on mine.
If you already had LOS14.1 installed and google apps as well you don't need a newer gapps version when updating dirty as gapps get updated by Google itself.
When flashing cleanly I recommend a newer gapps version but you can use any old (designed for the specific android version) as well.
Only setting up might take longer as the gapps will be updated automatically as soon as they find an internet connection.
The newer version of LOS14.1 will imo only be different in patch level nothing else.
Hope I didn't overlook a question.

Updating TWRP can be done with itself.
Working up- and downwards.
Just select "install" switch to "image" choose the file and select "recovery".
Afterwards reboot directly into the new recovery.

Just a quick note I understand you want to save time and copy and paste the opening page but everyday this phone gets a dozen starting new threads for simple questions and the reason that is is because there's not good information out there. You guys have to quit saying boot into recovery and make a backup and flash rom. We can make a backup kinda but you can't restore it so it's a waste of time. But new users see that and maybe a backup goes through on USB C drive and they find out it won't restore. Really it should read take any photos or data and put it to hard drive on PC or USB otg. Make sure to have PC with miflash and miui rom for Poco F3 downloaded and available in case. Than when you do flash rom with Twrp, orange fox, whatever be prepared to get tons of errors and unable to mount errors and no OS error and reboot and see what happens. No where does anyone actually lay out what people should do or expect to happen. Also 0mb twrp data showing refresh sizes in twrp backups option
Android Auto and Face Recognition works?

Facebook is very slow reopen.
I've tried multiple flash from MIUI 12.5 (A11) to this rom A12 onto a Poco F3 but I don't get how to get it working ?
I've:
- Rebooted into TWRP Vasi Recovery
- Make TWRP permanent in advanced tab (install recovery ramdisk with same TWRP img)
- Flash ROM (with or without twrp inject)
- Wipe Data (or not)
No OS is found and I cannot even see the storage until I flash again in fastboot mode with MIUI 12.5. What do I need to do ? It seems to be related to A12 since A11 version of Pixel UI is working fine (nevermind, it's going into bootloop) but I didn't find any informations about different steps to take.
FYI, it says decryption has been successful, always switch to inactive slot B and always getting those errors:
- Error opening : '/data/recovery/.version' (No such file or directory)
- E:backup /tmp/repackorig/

I've tried multiple flash from MIUI 12.5 (A11) to this rom A12 onto a Poco F3 but I don't get how to get it working ?
I've:
- Rebooted into TWRP Vasi Recovery
- Make TWRP permanent in advanced tab (install recovery ramdisk with same TWRP img)
- Flash ROM (with or without twrp inject)
- Wipe Data (or not)

Even if it says that no OS is found, reboot to OS. It will boot from the other A or B partition

It won't, it just goes back to recovery without any storage
