Moto G6 Play - Australian model? I'm lost.. - Moto G6 Play Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I am at a loss. I seem to have the only version of this phone in the world.I have a Moto G6 Play purchased in Australia. Under About Phone, it shows:
Model
moto g6 play (XT1922-1)
Software channel
retapac
Android version
8.0.0
Baseband version
M8937_26.30.05 7SR
JETER_ROAPDSDS_CUST
Kernel version
3.18.71-perf-g575351b
[email protected] #1
Thu Jan 10 12.07.33 CST 2019
Build number
OPPS27.91-177-2
I cannot for the life of me find stock firmware for it, and and unsure of how to go about resetting everything. I did manage to root it, using TWRP and sideload, didn't go through the process of making TWRP stick, but it's no problem to get it on when needed. I have unlocked the bootloader. The update to Oreo will not take, and I want to be able to, if I desire, to use a different rom. However, I'd like to update it though to Oreo.
I've scoured the internet, and less than a handful of matches for the model come up, but none in relation to safely doing anything with it.
Does anyone here know where the stock firmware lives? Or how I can manually update the firmware?
Cheers for any help!!!!

https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/aljeter/official/RETAPAC/ there you go. Use the stick firmware from that. Your device is the Aljeter not jeter but it's ok my guide works for your device as while. Just follow it. Don't worry about finding the build prop stuff unless your on pie. Just follow my guide

Thank you NinjaKira. Appreciate that.
Sooo many traps for people like me who only do this once every few years when they get a new phone.

I can confirm that aljeter RETAIL firmware can be used if bricked or boot-looped on updated PIE 9.0 XT1922-1 phones.
I have been unsuccessful in installing any GSI on the my Australian G6 Play.
NinjaKira Guide.
Step 4 - Could not backup. Probably me.
...and
Step 8 - Supplied TWRP 32GB would not let me factory reset, delete or format any phone partitions.
If anyone can get XT1922-1 working with GSI let me know.

How Can My Retus Device Can Get 7.1.1 Successfully Sideloaded? Reteu is on 7.1.1.

I have several Moto Z Plays here; two are retus and one is reteu. The reteu one is running 7.1.1 (official version, not a soak test, NPN26.118-22) because I downloaded the official update and sideloaded it yesterday. It has the July security patch. I was never a soak tester, either. The retuses are still on 7.0, May security patch (NPN25.137-24.4).
Here's the issue. When I sideload NPN26.118-22 (7.1.1. official) on a retus, I get an error saying "E3002: Package expects build thumbprint of 7.1.1/NPN26.118-22/21:user/release-keys or 7.0/NPN25.137-24.3/4:user/release-keys; this device has 7.0/NPN25137-24.4/5:user/release-keys," and it fails. (This also happened on reteu, but I happened to have the package it wanted to see, so I installed it first. See below.)
So, my next move is to replicate what worked on reteu, which was to flash the other package I have first, but I get another error saying "E3002: Package expects build thumbprint of 7.0/NPN25.137-24.3/4:user/release-keys or 7.0/NPNS25.137-24-1-9/10:user/release-keys; this device has 7.0/NPN25.137-24.4/5:user/release-keys."
I'm sort of at a loss from here of what to do, since the May security update for retus does seem to prevent compatibility with flashing any new package. The reason this wasn't an issue on the reteu one was, I'm assuming, because it was on the April security update, and I was able to install the second package, and then finally official 7.1.1 to get it current.
Anyone have any ideas? I can't be the only one running this freaking NPN25.137-24.4 (May) update on the retus Z Play that is preventing me from sideloading official 7.1.1. Thanks in advance!
Let me ask again (not you, in general). Why do you so desperately want 7.1.1? And risk hard bricking flashing images?
Mine Play is also retus and got May security patch last week. I'm not noticing any bugs. 7.1.1 is not bringing something revolutionary. It's still 7.x after all. I'm even thinking to not accept update. Don't fix it if is not broken.

I appreciate your reply, but this isn't really relevant to my question at all. I acknowledge there are risks with flashing, but I did it successfully on one of my devices and it's really not the scariest thing I've ever done on ADB.
If you're content to wait, that's fine; what I want to know is the reason why I can't seem to do it on 2/3 of my devices. I'd appreciate responses that are relevant to my question.
I replied to your post on reddit, but I'll share it here too. Someone may even correct me here on XDA if I've got any info wrong.
The 7.1.1 that was released to most of us (retbr, retca, etc) require the build number NPN25.137-24.3 (May 2017 security patch) to be installed.
The May security patch on retus has the build number of NPN25.137-24.4 (I guess there was a change that warranted the .4 over .3). All retus phones will have this build number if they've installed the May patch.
This is why you were getting errors when trying to sideload 7.1.1 onto the retus phones (trying to install an update not meant for the device). retus will likely get a different install package for Android 7.1.1
How do you sideload using stock recovery? I tried adb devices and my device is not listed. I want to sideload Google stuff to stock ROM, any idea how to do that? Tried to install the APK files manually but I got force closed after that. Thank you.

Flashing ONLY the newest baseband on custom rom

I have a question that might be simple to answer, but i need confirmation because i don't want to brick my device recklessly.
When i got my Moto Z play, i immediatley unlocked it, flashed TWRP and installed LineageOS. So my device (including bootloader and baseband) are still on the state it arrived i guess. But my OS ist the newest LineageOS (so android 7.1.2).
My Moto Z play is an XT1635-02 32GB (bootloader adds P7 as variant), software channel must be RETEU.
My bootloader is C0.14 (from 2016-07-11)
and my baseband is M8953_10208.08.04-47e (bootloader says M8953_10208.08.04.47R ADDISON_ROW_CUST)
Are there newer versions of baseband (which might more important) and booloader? And can i flash them without problems?
Just flashing the NON-HLOS.bin in fastboot and i'm fine? Can i also use the 7.0-modem from RETAIL?
Sorry, these questions might be dumb and too careful for old users, but i'm only used to nexus devices and i am scared of bricking my Z play! Nexus factory images always had baseband and bootloader version written in the filename so it was easy to find out if you need to update. In addition there was just one "software channel" which made it hard to brick a device or flash something wrong.

I'm running the original bootloader and baseband from 6.0.1 without any issue, so I would suggest leaving it.
I don't want to get on the wrong side of you but that wasn't my question.
I wanted to know this because i'm not sure if i get the most out of my phone with an older baseband. I can't use VoLTE for example which possibly is activated with a newer baseband. Or it might improve the signal.

Well I'll suggest you only flash the baseband that comes with your specific firmware, if you flash the baseband from another firmware package you will end up without a IMEI and you'll have a expensive brick, which you will send to me so I can use the screen to get my mzp working again. That will be payment for warning you
Good one, flashallthetime
Back in, uh, I think Atrix time or even HTC Desire it was normal to flash/change radio baseband. It supposed to improve radio, prolong battery life... In reality, most of the time didn't do anything, sometimes broke something...
So in theory, you can do that. Should be fine but I wouldn't recommend.
If you have to, to get VoLTE, I would make a backup of the current rom, follow guide to flash back to stock and then restore backup. But be extremely careful, so many users over here bricked their devices. As far as I can see, downgrading and the accepting OTA.

i dont think this will work i think i have tried this exact one with no avail
As long as you didn't flash pie and lose your baseband that way, you can fix it.
If you're on stock just go to recovery and do a factory reset from there, it should bring your baseband back. However, if you've flashed a modem from a firmware not intended for your phone, then you need to reflash the correct firmware then recovery, factory reset. If you flashed pie not intended for your phone, you might be out of luck depending on what variant you have.

Stick to one thread or create your own, posting the same problem in 20 different threads won't help you in any way.

OTA updates after root

Hi everyone, i have rooted my g6 play few months ago and I'm happy with it, but i cannot install the newer OTA updates. The one im stuck on is the October patch, since than i haven't received anything?
Is it something to do with the root/bootloader/recovery/whatever, or that was the last update anyway?

If you installed TWRP you won't get OTA updates.
Either way if you want the latest firmware available you will need to flash it.
You should know 3 things before flashing.
Model number, codename, and software channel.
Those should be shown in
Settings/about phone
Looking for
Model: XT1922-x
Codename: Aljeter or jeter
SC: Retus, reteu, ....
Then downloaded firmware from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto
There are some instructions at the end of this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g6-play/how-to/pie-update-moto-g6-play-t3904886/page2
Or I have some general information in
Setting up and Using adb.exe and fastboot.exe https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/index-links-setting-using-adb-fastboot-t3495167
And
Moto Drivers, Firmware, RSD Lite, and other Unbricking Tools

OTA not working, how to manually update G981B?

Hi there,
my G20 5G (Europe) doesn't find any updates after security level September, and that's been going on for some time. It's not a branded version, so I think I'll need to update manually. Now I haven't manually flashed anything since my old Nexus 5 and have never flashed anything with Odin.
Could anyone point me to the correct OTA-file and instructions how to flash OTA-files without wiping the phone? With the myriad of options I'm not sure which file to get for my specific model.
This is my phone info:
Modelnumber: SM-G981B/DS
Buildnumber: QP1A.190711.020.G981BXXU4BTIB
Basebandversion: G981BXXU4BTIO
//edit:
ok, i found about CSC and stuff, I'm on a T-Mobile software and they are the reason I don't get security updates in time.
Case closed for me, will look in to samkey.
