Device stuck at 'mi' logo after installing custom rom - Xiaomi Redmi 5A Questions & Answers

Hi all, I'm facing some problem with my Redmi 5A. I've unlocked its bootloader by official method few months ago. Now for installing rom I've installed TWRP recovery. And when I was trying to wipe data I was getting an error and sloved that problem. Now after flashing rom when I'm rebooting my device I'm stuck in mi logo under mentioning unlocked. And nothing happening. So after some research I found that Orangefox Recovery can give me better result so I just flashed that but it's showing same output. Do anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm attaching my TWRP ss here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16AgZmSwC5ueMusRkAZvggIdPc_O2XRqH/view?usp=drivesdk
Oh, and I was on miui 10(Oreo) when I'd unlocked my device.

Ok I got it. But can you explain that why we need to flash nougat based roms to install custom rom?
And I'm already flashed my device with fastboot rom. But when I'm trying to install custom rom that case is happening.

Help! Tried installing TWRP now my phone ONLY boots into TWRP!

I'm on Whyred in the U.S.. I unlocked my bootloader today after the two week waiting period then tried to install TWRP with ADB command lines and got the
"FAILED (remote: Anti-rollback check failed)" error so I then attempted to install TWRP through the TWRP recovery itself but accidentally ticked "Boot" as the destination. Now my phone will only boot into TWRP recovery and I can't get into MIUI 9.6.3.0 anymore! What can I do to bring my phone back?

Download the miui 9.6.3.0 rom, extract boot.img from that, copy it to phone, flash it in the boot partition, voila.

It worked! You're a lifesaver, man. Thought for sure I had FUBARed my new phone. I used an OTG USB stick to flash the boot.img from.

Glad I could help. Next time, be more careful. ??
I don't think I'd be monkeying around so much with my new phone if Xiaomi didn't make it so damn difficult to install TWRP recovery on their "anti-rollback" roms now. It's impossible to install TWRP using adb now because of the ""FAILED (remote: Anti-rollback check failed)" error and even installing TWRP Recovery through TWRP doesn't seem to work, or at least I can't figure out how to do it (it reboots to stock recovery). Bah. I think we need an updated guide or something.

You need to flash lazyflasher after you flash TWRP within TWRP. So that MIUI won't replace it with its stock recovery every time.

Okay, I finally figured out the problem. I was installing lazyflasher right after installing TWRP Recovery and got no errors, but every guide I've read has been telling me to press both "power" and "volume +" until I see the Mi Logo then release "power" while continuing to press "volume +" until the TWRP recovery screen shows up but every time I did that it would boot right into Android. But on my phone I have to release both buttons as soon as I see the Mi Logo and then it will boot into TWRP. So that was what was stumping me. Now it's all sorted and I just made my first Backup with TWRP so all is golden now
Thanks for all your help.

I have one final question which you might be able to answer: if I wanted to re-lock the bootloader and unroot my device back to factory defaults, I heard I can just flash the MIUI 9.6.3.0 rom over my existing install of MIUI 9.6.3.0. Where would I download the correct rom for that for my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (model #: M1803E7SH) for the GSM Unlocked Global version I have?

Download fastboot ROM and flash it using MiFlash, you have to select clean all and lock option to relock bootloader
en.miui.com/a-234.html for fastboot ROM. Latest ROM version is 9.6.4
http://en.miui.com/download-342.html#508 for recovery ROM

You need stock recovery and bootloader unlock for original rom image flashing, for all other roms, you must follow the instructions without any hickups.

Redmi Note 8 pro - How to fix TWRP keep crashing?

So i followed the steps on unlocking my bootloader and i successfully unlocked it after a week. At first try i soft bricked my phone trying to install twrp begonia. img from the official website, then i fix it by flashing the older version of miui (miui10) by the help of xiaoMiFlash. After flashing miui 10 to fix the bootloop my phone works pretty well but i want to flash custom rom on it so i tried to install twrp 3.3.1 and it is running well from miui rom but after flashing corvus os to my phone i tried to enter recovery mode specifically twrp, it seems that after several seconds twrp crashes then my phone automatically restarting to corvus os. The main problem is twrp is not working well and it keeps crashing whenever i entered recovery mode (TWRP)
How to fix it??? PLEASE HELP

Can't install any rom

Hello,
Just after unlocked the bootloader, I flashed Orange Fox recovery and tried to install the last Pixel Experience, but I was stuck on boot animation.
Same for previous Pixel Experience rom.
Then, I tried LineageOS 19.1, and successfully booter on it. But, I got screen that said "Your data may be corrupter" and can't do anything but reboot into recovery.
I'm out of option, now... Did I forgot something ?
PS: I also tried to flash Chikori Kernel but I got error "New image is larger than targeted partition"

Try to flash V12.5.3.0.QFLCNXM with Twrp/O.f (TWRP is newer than this OF.)
then
reboot Twrp/O.F
Wipe/format data type yes
reboot Twrp/O.F
Flash rom
Sometimes the flashing of the recovery ROM does not work with the Twrp/O.F in this case use Miflash with a fastboot rom.
If you're still trying to figure this one out, I think I know how to solve your issue installing LOS.
You most likely used TWRP v3.70, am I right?
You should use TWRP v3.61 coz that was the last stable version that worked, the only thing is that you might need to find another custom recovery other than the official TWRP after installing an Android 12 custom ROM like LOS 19.1.
Lineage OS has their own recovery so you'd probably need to use that if you want to update it.
Same issue with me. yesterday. Though mine is fixed.
My workaround was: I installed the official 12.5.3 MIUI using OrangeFox. After boot, I tried installing PixelExperience using Pixel recovery. There I got successfully installed a custom ROM. Alhough I am not sure if the mounting/encryption of Internal SD is the cause.

[Solved] Is there anyone who can help me with Pixel Experience stuck in G logo issue?

My device is SM-N976N (Korean variant of Note 10+ 5G with Exynos)
I've unlocked bootloader, disabled OEM Lock, succesfully installed latest TWRP, wiped everything it need, and tried to install latest PE+ (A13) via TWRP.
At first, it shows 'Google' and go to G logo and tiny status bar beneath. But that's it. It does not boot and just stuck at that thing.
I tried almost everything in google, XDA, or other community. I tried to use 'Format data' in TWRP, reinstall another version of TWRP, install another custom kernel, reinstall old PE (A12)
but it is not fixed at all.
Is there anyone who can help with it? I'm almost dying because of it.
---2023.03.03 Solved----
I just installed PixelOS recovery on my phone and install PE+ via PixelOS recovery. And it finally went through.
Maybe PE is not stable with TWRP in Galaxy smartphones.

I think you're right. I just installed PixelOS recovery on my phone and reinstall PE+ again. And it booted successfully. Thanks for your advice!
