No Netflix HD despite Widevine L1 profile - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

Samsung Galaxy A50 does not stream Netflix in HD despite Widevine L1 cert.
Contacted customer support of both Netflix and Samsung. Their first line support did not seem to have a clue to what was being talked about. When pressured, they simply said we don't support.
Findings:
On A50, HD streaming works on Amazon Prime Video
On the Galaxy M series web site, Samsung prominently advertises Netflix HD streaming. And Netflix also recently whitelisted the M series but not the A50.

netflix refuses HD compatibility with this phone, even with L1 security, netflix is too paranoid. The only working HD+ version is the netflix 6.20.1 build 51 31579
720P only
find it in apk mirror

Apk mentioned does bring 720p. This is more than enough on 6.4" screen. And updating from playstore does not remove hd.

Force 1080p on Prime video?

So Amazon prime video only allows 1080p hd playback on certain android devices, galaxy s8 being one of them. I have a Oneplus 3 rooted with magisk, is there any way I can make the Amazon prime app think I have a s8 and therefore allow me to stream in full hd?
Thanks in advance.
Do you have xposed installed? Maybe try a "device spoof" faker/changer app in google play and simulate to be an official supported device for prime video. Then it should work.
The only question is, what specific app is best for that and what device spoof information are needed.

Does anyone have the Prime Video apk from the international Fire TV Stick?

The reason I ask is because I bought the wrong fire TV, I bought the US version when I should have bought the international version from my country. Mind you some apps work (Netflix, YouTube) in my country but not Prime Video App, is geo restricted.
I've been using the web version of prime video as a walk around but I would very much like to try the apk.
I've downloaded the Prime Video APK for nvidia shield and xiaomi tv but they seem to work a bit sluggish on my fire stick, and it often freezes.
I hope I'm not alone in this situation and someone found some sort of solution.
I have the same issue. I installed the androidTV version which seems to be working fine but the video quality is terrible. Not sure if it is the app or something else. Could not sideload the prime video apk from google app store because it is conflicting with the existing installation.

Where did you download this? I have a Xiaomi Mi Box S and have been looking for a version of Prime Video that works. It's not in my Google Play Store. Perhaps the Nvidia Shield version would work. Thanks
Did you solved this issue?
I bought an Fire TV Stick (1st gen) from UK, now I can't watch anything from Prime Video because I'm in Brazil.
I've downloaded the Prime Video apk from apkpure, but its installation fails, maybe because the stick it's Prime Video version already installed.

HD Streaming On Netflix/Amazon Prime?

Hi,
Since our device comes with Widevine L1 and HDR10 support, I would like to know if it supports HD streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime? Now before you jump on saying I am an idiot for asking such question as the device ships with WVL1, let me tell you that having Widevine L1 is not the only criteria to be able to stream HD contents on Netflix and Amazon Prime. They have their own set of criteria and every device has to be whitelisted from their end in order to support HD streaming. This is the reason my last device Poco F1 can not stream HD contents as Netflix is not ready to whitelist the device. So I would like to know what is the case with Realme X as I am thinking of getting Netflix. But I would like to make sure HD streaming is working before I invest on the HD plan. If anyone here uses Netflix HD plan on Realme X, can you please check and let me know if HD streaming is working (a screenshot would be better). If you don't have Netflix or Amazon Prime, I would request you to kindly ignore the post as I am not looking for answers based on assumption.
Thank you!!

Yeah right. The device also needs to be whitelisted by netflix and amazon themselves for hd playback other than having L1 certification in the first place. I confirm the support of hd playback on both the apps but hdr is not supported. As you know realme x supports hdr content too(our device only supports hdr, not hdr 10), play some hdr stuff on YouTube and you would know the difference but hdr on netflix and amazon are not supported. Now in netflix app it ll clearly show hdr written if the show supports it and the device supports it as well ( I cannot include ss of the netflix app as i don't currently have an active plan) but I don't think same is the case with amazon prime because (ss attached) below you ll see hdr is mentioned for the show but i don't think it plays it in hdr. Also (ss attached) you ll see my rant over colour os in a post where i talk about the same and the inclusion of osie vision effect as a feature in place of hdr support which doesn't actually work.

Hey thanks man for confirming. Having HD is fine with me. It may not be as good as HDR, but it's way better than SD. Now that you have confirmed HD (not talking about HDR) streaming is working on Netflix and Prime, I am renewing my subscription.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer.

You can always like my comment if I was helpful. Also watching content on this device would be a breeze. I actually used my laptop to watch my content because of the bigger screen but after buying this phone I use this rather. Also did a little research and netflix and amazon support hdr content on only a couple of flagship devices like Galaxy note 10 plus and stuff, those who support hdr10 so having hdr doesn't make a difference. Anyways enjoy.

Fire Cube TV - HD downloads with sideloaded prime video app?

Does sideloaded prime video (phone/tablet version) download movies in HD on Fire TV Cube?
I just bought an L1 certified xiaomi android tv box & surprisingly it only downloads in SD, which suggests Amazon have a device whitelist which it isn't on.
My guess is they haven't whitelisted their own tv cube either as if they deemed this ability suitable, it'd be in the official android tv app which currently only streams (which makes it no more useful than a smart tv which is limited to streaming only).
Can somebody confirm before I buy?

To me the fire cube was their worse device
I'm pretty sure the 4k stick is more powerful.
Only the recast boxes actually download and store video but at that price Id get a Nvidia shield and add a external SSD.
