Working GCam Mod? - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Themes, Apps, and Mods

Is there any working GCam mod available for the MI 9 SE?
I tried several versions, only some of them work partially - night mode is lacking as hell.
Reminds me of the MI8 before they implemented fixes for it in the official ROM.
Did some1 have any more luck with a working version?
Camera2API is enabled and fully supported says Camera2API Probe app..

Do you know what those settings would be?

Go to BSG mod settings-->Fix
Sett buffer fix to On
Image format JPEG (Need mi8)
Add aux to camera switch On
This is what I set

thanks, it works with such settings. I tried a night mode photo and the quality is improved a lot respect to miui camera

Thank you it works. Any ideas how to switch to the wide angle or telephoto lens?

Yeah, a wide lense support of the gcam as seen on the MI 9 and the LG Series would be really helpfull!

any news on this topic ?

try this, works for me

thx will try it.
a general question: how do we ensure that there is no nasty trojan or spyware in those apks ?
is there a way to sandbox those apps ?

I would like to post some pics but somehow I cant

so... no progress here, right.
i tested tons and several of modded gcam.. with none of them night mode is working properly. it just struggles around after 2sec and is not usable.
strange the the normal mi 9 has a working version.
is there something missing in case of firmware xiaomi has to patch to make it work? just asking because this was the case on mi8 and mix2s.. after a patch from xiaomi gcams were surprisingly working..

cmiiw, mi 9 se required gcam that has 'Frame Buffer' fix on it. Maybe that was firmware problem or maybe something else... ??*

uhmm no. not correct. buffer fix works indeed for normal gcam usage.. ut the buffer fix doesn't apply to night mode.

Can someone do a little comparison between stock camera and GCam? With some sample. This could be awesome.

I'd also appreciate this. From what I gather too, the gcam works fine in all functions other than night mode?

A quick comparison from my sofa.... both shots attempted to hold same position, with the focus on the nearest point of the lip of the cup.
Xiaomi.eu 9.5.9 shot on 48M camera mode - link
MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk shot on 48M HDR+ camera mode - link
The default settings with Xiaomi camera produced 6000x8000 13.5MB JPEG, on gcam 3000x4000 2.0MB.
Colour reproduction, contrast and detail is so much better with HDR+ processing using gcam camera. This is typical of what I find when comparing gcam to xiaomi camera app.

I've heard of some people using the app in SD625 devices, and the Mi A1 has the 625 SoC, so in theory it may be possible to port the app... I can't code, so does anyone know something about a download link that works on Mi A1 or can mod the XDA apk to work on the Mi A1?

If you are rooted you have to add below line in build.prop -
Code:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
after that reboot. you will have working gcam with HDR+. although the slomo option won't work. and you will have EIS too in gcam.

2. nope.
i think Google camera hdr+ need a snapdragon 820++ isn't it?

If you cant find the difference by looking at the samples posted, then you dont need HDR+.
But the fact is the difference is night and day!
Google is primarily known for software, which is what HDR+ is all about.. It uses the camera h/w, takes many pics when you click the shutter button, each in different contrast, and applies some kick-ass machine learning algorithms on every pixel of each groups of pics it took, fuses all of them, to get awsome looking pics.. Thats all it does, and thats all that no other stock camera app does from any other manufacturer. Thats why it beats even iphone.
So basically, google does more through software , what all others achieve through multiple h/w.. Reason why pixel 2 still has single Camera.

gcam on realme 3

hi, sorry for my stupid question.
i just want to know, can i install gcam mod on realme 3?
thank for the answer
I've heard that this version from Arnova8G2 works:
- MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk
You need to load this config: Realme_3_Config.xml (guide: how to load config files).
I don't have this phone, so I don't know if it comes with the camera2 api enabled. If it's disabled, you have to enable it first. I'm sure you can find a guide by searching online.
You can also find more apks from Arnova8G2 on this page and follow his thread here on XDA.

I was testing 1.3c version on my new phone, but it was fail taking photo.
Only panorama and video were operating.
But, today I installed the configs file and now camera is fully operating.
After first HDR tests and quick analysis stock camera render better (Chroma boost disabled, not needed!).
(I use a standardized position from my seat to a sunny open door in the middle of the room. )
I already tested panorama in outside situation and it is GREAT, much better than stock.
Not tested night and video.
Overall comment: This phone is a top gun. No need to spend million.

Need help about crashing video mode on realme 3
I need ur help guys. I have installed gcam version MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk.
In my realme 3. I have also installed realme 3 config.xml configuration file in gcam. After that the gcam is working full fine with all the functions. But after the latest update of March 2019 Android security patch and fix of some minor issues. The video mode of google camera is not working. When I open the video tab. Gcam automatically closes. When I do repeat. It also do the same every time.
I've also tried to install various apks of gcam version 6 but all those are show the exact same problem when open the video mode. Please anyone suggest me the fix of this issue ???. I will be very thankful to u guys.
Regards.

Good news, I have found a working config for the latest update. You first have to download the apk from

This is the apk called "fu24: MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova_TlnNeun_4lens_V1.3.030119.0645-02j.apk". Then use these configs I attached.

Tested now, with no XMLs activated, pure stock and so far so good ... also quality is good, better, a lot better than stock cam. Don`t ask pics please, the smartphone I`ve tested is not mine, it`s my father who owns it
---------- Post added at 06:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:25 PM ----------
Since I`m trying to improve the photo quality somehow for the smartphone my father use, I`ve searched a bit about what camera module it uses and I`ve found out that is the same module (Sony IMX582 sensor) used on redmi k20 (not pro) and I will test if any Gcam ports for that modules will bring a better experience in photos, compared with the ones I`ve read here....That if my time will allow me to actually do so. If I see anything to be mentioned here I will post.
Meanwhile you could also try these ports https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-ojosehenrick/ and https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-dieflix/ made by k20 users/devs
All the best!
I don't know if it was an option or it appeared, but in full HD 60 video recording in FPS you can select image stabilization. However, this is probably another android bug, because stabilization does not work. Is this android 9 underdeveloped? Is simply android one stripped of its function?
Guys Anyone else facing this big dark circle in camera after clicking Pic in Night Mode using Stock Camera inside a Dark Room with very little light ?
Anyone knows the reason ??
What config did you use?
Thanks!

You're correct, this is the only 6.2 GCam working on the Mi 9T. But xtrme's version, although it's based on GCam 6.1, works great too with all 4 cameras. I don't know much about photography so I can't really tell which one is better overall.
Can you reduce NR for main camera as well? Night shots with HDR+ are good, but lack detail. A little grain won't hurt the image IMO.
Grainy noise is better than colour noise

Try changing library in advanced settings. Fit v2 seems to be optimized for Mi 9 that has a very similar main sensor.

This is my modded Gcam for Mi 9T.
Basically it's @Urnyx05 mod but I was able to fix the excessive noise in photos with Zoom 2x sensor.

Version with less aggressive NR :

Thanks to @Wyroczen and Savitar (who made the original fix).

It should crash only if wide or Tele camera are active.
Do you know if there is a version with working video/settings and auxiliary cameras support?
I suspect that video profiles for aux cameras are missing/hidden, at least in Global ROM.

Good evening everyone.
I have just joined the forum having just purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9T phone (That's still awaiting delivery)
Anyways, I am just wondering if this google camera mod can be loaded straight onto the phone or does the phone need 'jailbreaking' in some way?
Thanks in advance.

Just install the apk and enjoy.
The download links are dead? It just says that the file might no longer exist, in both links

It's not working in hdr+ or hdr++ on stock 10.0.14.0.
It's working on 10.0.13.0 flawlessly!
You have camera2 api enabled?

And without camera2 api any gcam will crash.
Forgot about that, you're right!
This is beyond strange, still working for me. Try to take another picture with front camera and check like a minute later if the pic is showing in your gallery. It takes a bit for our A2 to proceed the selfie. If it's still not working idk?

Still no luck. Can take picture in normal mode, not in hdr. Have you changed any settings, developer settings?
Does the focus on Android Pie work?
10.0.14.0 HDR not working on the front facing camera, everything else works I believe. Also i think there was a version that could shot 1080 60fps video, not really sure, this version only shots at 30 fps. Thanks for the apk!!
the focus is very unstable
On my phone it won't even install, even though I have camera2 api. Other GCam's (version 5 and 6) do work.
It is this one, right? GCam_7.0.009_A_005.apk

you have to uninstall one the versions you have installed then you try installing again.. it conflicts with the existing one you have installed.. I'm sure it's the v5
Try and see

Indeed, after uninstalling both the V5 and V6 GCam, it worked. Thanks!
Too bad i have to manually switch HDR off when using the front cam, and back on again when using the back cam.
There are focus issues as usual. If someone can specifically build a GCam version for Mi A series, that would be great.
video working for anyone using the aforementioned GCam ?

I heard there is astronomy photography feature(cuttlefish mode) in gcam v.7. But with this version I cant find one though there are several options "camera.cuttle.something" in the developer options. Anybody knows about it?
Hi guys,
Is there a way to save picture on sdcard ?

I didn't meant the settings thing, i want the feature, while shooting in night mode there should be the cuttlefish mode, this mode have a very long exposure time like 1 min or so and u have to keep the phone steady for that time. This mode ultimately create more sharper image than the previous night mode, also can detect stars.
