[Sony] Open Devices Project - Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries,

Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.
If you want to build AOSP for your unlocked Xperia device, you find all the resources you need in the sections below.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 7 (Nougat)?
A: Yes, this is Android 7.1.2
Q: What code is Oct-N based on?
A: This version of Oct-N is based on LineageOS 14.1
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But all the others have..
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-N.
Q: What about root?
A: Root is removed by default (user will be able to flash which ever root zip they want)
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite Open Gapps package http://opengapps.org
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
The Oct-N ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your Gapps Provider. When dirty flashing weekly updates, you MUST reflash Gapps along with any other files, apps, custom mods or kernels etc.. (anything that resides in system partition)
Flash ROM, GApps and any additional .ZIP files
Reboot

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-M, we've rebased OctOs on Aosp code.
Q: What happened to CM?
A: Octos was originally formed as an AOSP source rom. We have returned to those roots.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..

[UNOFFICIAL]Mokee Open Source MK71.2 for i9500(ja3gxx)

What is the difference?
RELEASE: Tested after integrating new features, more stable than NIGHTLY. (Odexed builds)
NIGHTLY: Built daily with newest code and experimental features, might contain undiscovered bugs. (Deodexded builds)
HISTORY: Final odexded builds once a newer Android version is out and being built.
EXPERIMENTAL: Released when a new device is added or when a new feature is added for public beta testing and feedback. (Deodexded builds)
UNOFFICIAL: Maintained separately by individual developers, usually involves modification of shared code which cannot be merged (affects other devices), therefore maintained by the developer himself.
THIS IS A UNOFFICIAL VISION!
ABOUT
MoKee Open Source is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!
Read here for developer application: http://www.mfunz.com/en/developer-application, you can host your unofficial MoKee builds on our server!

FP3 Source code is released

Just an information for the community.
On the Fairphone code page (code.fairphone) on Dec 7, 2019 the kernel source code for the Fairphone3 was released.
This is significantly quicker than it has been with the FP2, which is great. Fairphone said they were working to setup up a github repository. As this still seems to take a while, a user did set up a github repository with the name "android_kernel_fairphone_sdm632"

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restores the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

Currently only works with bootloader unlocked
SafetyNet does not pass (Unfortunately, this is not possible as your SoC has hardware attestation... the workaround is to use unsupported mods like Magisk which tbh I haven't tried myself as I don't root my devices, but other users said that plus the SafetyNet Magisk mod works). I posted Rob's solution to SafetyNet / gPay here
Heyyo, allow me to introduce myself. I am Marc "ThE_MarD" Bourgoin and I maintain LineageOS and TWRP for the LeEco Le Max 2 (X2) and was crowdfunded a zippo which I will maintain LineageOS for (with selinux enforcing of course) and maybe assist with TWRP later. I also own a Motorola Edge 30 (dubai) which I maintain LineageOS for, Asus Zenfone 5z (Z01R), and I was also donated a Motorola Moto X4 (Payton) which I maintain LineageOS and TWRP for.
I'd like to take this moment to also thank anyone who donated to the crowdfunding campaign for my zippo! Without you? I wouldn't have this epic device in my hands to work on.
Also MAJOR thanks to Zhenxiang Chen (aka pasta_con_tonno, Lucchetto) for all the amazing work he has done on zippo.
Special thanks to Einar Gednochsson (aka kanstmablason, pete80pro) for organizing the crowdfunding campaign for my zippo and also a new one for KuranKaname so he can revamp our kernel.
Thanks also to hypnz, chema f, gawin and Lucky for also working in zippo and to HighwayStar who started the initial trees for heart (Lenovo z5 Pro GT) which zippo trees are based upon and Art_Chen for working on heart and zippo and also bringing us FOD Dimming and DC Dimming.
Thanks again to Zhenxiang and Chema f for figuring out and implementing the QFIL recovery and vbmeta while keeping the bootloader locked

lenovo seemed to have dropped support for first time unlocking of bootloader on heart.
their site is now not respoonding to requests for sn.img file.
any workaround so i can flash LineageOS20 or even 19.1?
Heyyo @kcmiranda , sorry for the late reply but if their website is down? Technically you can unlock with any heart sn.img so maybe someone else can post theirs or maybe check the Telegram groups?
I don't personally own a heart so I can't help here sorry.. I've sent my zippo sn.img to other zippo users who have confirmed it works for them too
You're the guy Marc!
Thank you very much for your many contributions.

How can i use face unlock in lineage os
@xueshuai , 2D Face Unlock was dropped long ago when AOSP Trusted Face was dropped. If a secure and reliable 2D Face Unlock solution becomes open source and available? It might return, but it has been a few years since AOSP dropped Trusted Face and no secure and reliable replacement has happened...
Thank you, understood.
Hello, why is there an obvious delay when I unlock the phone after lineage opens the password? The problem also occurs on lineage20 and 19.1, nomatter whether it is official or unofficial The delay only appears after the password is set. Unlocking the phone without a password becomes much smoother
Lineage on Heart is so perfect, thank you and the other developers who contributed to Lineage

Err, so it turns out 2 weeks ago LOS team made it a rule that maintainers must own the device.
Since my zippo is dead and I can't test builds? Lenovo sm8150-common on LOS will retire on lineage-20 unless one of you guys take it over

Yes. I own OnePlus Nord (avicii) and I tested it. So trust me.
This recovery (OrangeFox-R11.1_4-Unofficial-avicii.zip) recognizes that I have LineageOS 20 installed and that the data partition is encrypted, but unfortunately does not offer me the decryption dialog.
When I try to decrypt the data partition from the menu, I get a password dialog but no swipe pattern.

Not recovery issue. I already told this to the LineageOS maintainer. He NVM it. LineageOS issue. Contact your LineageOS maintainer.
Tell him to fix it. Nothing to do from my side.
OOS12 decryption works without any issues. OOS12 is also FBEv1 rom.

Thanks for the hint, I didn't catch that.
Based on my experiences with him, I would rate this person as you describe.
Thanks in any case for your efforts regarding the Nord custom ROMs.

If you need vanilla rom with customisation. There is RisingOS AOSP.

I've been using LineageOS / CyanogenMod since the early days of Android, so switching is hard.
But thanks for the tip, I'll take a look and maybe even consider switching.
But I'm also thinking of buying either the Nord 3 or the 11 or 11T this year and thus the "maintainer issue" would be solved .

LineageOS is open source software.
Everybody is able to contribute by submitting patches / commits via our official gerrit server at https://review.lineageos.org
So instead of complaining you could just submit the required code for supporting this custom recovery.
This is just not a priority topic for me as I only focus on official LineageOS features / tools like LineageOS recovery. This is why I did not do it myself.
Also:
I provided a lot of code to the OnePlus Nord custom ROM scene on which your work / ROMs @Sreeshankar K are heavily based on.
I consider it rude to say something like "maintainer issue".
This goes especially in your direction @Doc Sniper.

It's always funny how people think that only because you volunteered to make LOS official for our Nord, you automatically take on the support and do everything for free and now
A little Google and due diligence and there would be less "misunderstandings" and misjudgements from people

"What goes around comes around."
Well, you could have said to @Sreeshankar K last time exactly what you were writing right before. Namely that a working OF-Recovery with LOS is low priority for you and he could contribute code to speed that thing up - done.
Then he would have been informed nicely and would have passed on this surely just as positively also in relation to your person. So I guess @Sreeshankar K took your last answer as "I don't give a damn".
Just like this sentence: "... Also: I provided a lot of code to the OnePlus Nord custom ROM scene on which your work / ROMs @Sreeshankar K are heavily based on. ...". My only thoughts on this are, how can one be so condescending.
When you're that snooty, don't be surprised if you're not respected. Even if you have done a lot as a diligent maintainer, you should always be as respectful to others, as you would like to be respected yourself.
Remember, "it's not what you say, but how you say it" and always consider, others may have far more education, knowledge and experience than you. Live humbly.
Well, anyway, if you felt offended from "m.i.", then I'm sorry.

I don't think my post sounded condescending, it was not meant that way.
I only mentioned my contributions towards Nord custom ROM community to make you think about calling my work a maintainer issue.
To be honest I feel disrespected after spending so many hours developing for this community and getting called something like that.
Anyways I accept your apology.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to criticize your work and your achievements at all and also I don't want to demand anything regarding the ROM. My criticism has only ever been about the fact that I, as well as a few other people, have perceived some statements in the past as condescending. Since you certainly didn't mean it that way, maybe just work on "how you say it".
You donate your free time, so I would like to say quite clearly that I certainly appreciate your work and your effort with the Nord 1 LOS very well.
Thank you.
Never made any contributions to either OrangeFox or LOS but I have some programming experience. Is this somewhat easily fixable, what goes into something like this? Would love to contribute something myself but don't know where to start.
