How to enable camera2 api? - Samsung Galaxy A50 Themes, Apps, and Mods

How to enable camera2 api in galaxy A50? Samsung had removed fastboot from their devices making it difficult to flash twrp.

See this 3d about twrp and magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a50/development/recovery-twrp-galaxy-a50-t3916199/page10
A50 has api2 enabled by Samsung but not for all GCam features.

Camera 2 API is enabled for Samsung Galaxy A50 but to work with all features it needs to be Level 3 which is not enabled. To be able to do this we need to install TWRP and Magisk and then to play with build.prop or to do it with ADB Tools.
In my case that I have to wait until TWRP is fixed for A50 because I encounter issues after flashing it and stuck on Samsung logo.

//QUICK UPDATE: I managed today to root Samsung Galaxy A50 with Magisk and stock recovery and tried to enable LEVEL 3 for Camera2 API. Unfortunately it is still stuck on Limited. So, there is no hope for the moment that we're going to have a fully functional Google Camera Port for our devices due the fact that we have Exynos chipset. If it was Snapdragon with Limited feature and changed to Level 3 that was perfectly fine and everything would work smooth but...No hope for the moment.
Sorry for double post but I wanted to refresh this thread.

Raw support is not present why Samsung?

Hai, you said that you have managed root for A50 with Magisk, how to do that.. until now I can not rooted my A50, Could you share with us?

enable camera2 api
I did it in the same way install TWRP and Magisk and then to play with build.prop or to do it with ADB Tools everything worked perfect. Way of Installing Magisk & Root with TWRP read more: docsbay.net/way-of-installing-magisk-root-with-twrp, hopes that helps

it says I have leve3 camera2 API support but when I check it with an app named "Camera2 probe" it says I have legacy support only does it mean that I cannot use Gcam on my phone ?

How do I enable Google camera hdr+ compabillity

I am using a Lenovo p2a42 on aicp 7.1.2. I tried to use hdr+, but it doesn't show up in Google camera. Is it because that p2 doesn't support it or is it possible to edit for example the build.prop and get it. Does it work on the stock rom?

Yes stock rom supports hdr
You mean Google hdr+(ported camera app from Pixel)???
I'm also looking for a working Google HDR+ camera app for Lenovo P2, would you please share it with us?
First of all, hdr+ works generally only on Pixel devices - so officially, no way to get it to work just by using the play store and downloading the app.
There is a ported version that works on SD820/821/835 devices, but this one doesn't work with the P2 as well, as the cpu isn't supported (yet?!?).
So, until then, no way to get hdr+ running on the p2

Actually it's working on redmi note 4 which has the same specs as Lenovo p2....same processor sd625 and camera sensor....so my question is, has anyone tested it with Lenovo p2(custom rom)?? Bcuz I don't want to root my phone without a working Google hdr+ camera app.....
I just checked that and while that seems to be true, it still doesn't work with the P2 ^^
Camera API2 is enabled, the camera also supports all manual modes (See attachment), but the Google camera doesn't work at all (See other attachement). You'll have to make do with the hdr mode of opencamera, which is fine, but pretty slow. Stil, the results are imho better than stock Lenovo hdr mode.

Thanks mate... by the way, which rom r u using.....which is the most stable???
Had to edit out the picture due to visible faces, so here is the "correct" second attachement - to your question: I'm currently using the AEX 8.0 alpha, works linke a charm; snappy, bug-free as can be, fine as a daily driver (other bugs like notification LED and not working fp-gestures also are in every other custom-rom).
So you could perhaps start with that.
Cm14.1 should be very stabile too, although I didn't try that one, so I can't give any advice there.

I think it should work with any custom rom. Dont forget to add mentioned line to buildprop.
Hm, HDR+ with the camera you posted works fine on my AEX 8.0, the Pixel Camera (also with hdr+) however, doesn't. So, what's the difference between yours and this one: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195922284
Edit: I'll correct myself and say that it doesn't works. HDR+ enabled and disabled give the exact same results, comparing that to open cameras HDR, there is a night and day difference.

[MOD] ARCore 1.5 on Xiaomi Mi 6 Sagit

First of all you need rooted phone and magisk.
Download module to enable Camera 2 API.
You can use Mi 6 ALL in One Mod <Version without rounded corners and no interface modifications> or other magisk module, as you like.
Then search in magisk module manager for MagiskHide Props Config. Install and reboot.
Once you've done, you need to change device fingerprint. Do this using a terminal.
Type props in terminal.
See this for photos: https://imgur.com/a/W4qTDEd
Select 1 - Edit device fingrprint
Press f - pick a certified fingerprint
Go to 16 - Xiaomi, and from there pick 11 - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s. Press y, y. Reboot.
Once you've done, install ARCore 1.5, which you can download from here .
Test it with measure app, version 2.2 and above.

But on my Mi 6 with MIUI 10.9.1.17, with all magisk modules loaded and GCM works well, the AR Stickers still NOK.

Trying to install GCam, where can I get the latest patched boot image?

I'm following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-how-to-enable-camera2-api-t3851414
And it takes you to a thread with old boot images, and I was wondering if there were any ones that were more recent (i.e. January 2020 security patch). Or does it not matter if I'm using this method only to enable camera2api?
Thanks
Grab the latest stock Rom from here and download it (10.0.18.0 is Jan 2020) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/fastboot-xiaomi-mi-a2-fastboot-images-t3824871
Then follow this guide until step 9 to get your own patched boot.img : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-install-magisk-proper-support-ota-t3836952
It matters which version of the boot.img you're using, if you happen to use an older version, your device won't boot and you won't be able to do what you want.

Search for my comment in the same thread, I described the way you should follow to avoid data loss. With my method you won't lose your data. But also if this is your first time unlocking the bootloader, you will lose data. If you've unlocked the bootloader before then you won't have any issues. Cheers.

Go to developer settings in the Settings > System. If you can't see it there, you need to enable it first. To do that go over to About Phone in settings and tap on the Build Number several times, until you get a toast notification saying Developer settings are enabled.
Once you're in the developer settings, find the USB Debugging option and enable it. After you connect your phone and execute "adb shell" command, a pop-up will appear on your phone saying if you want to trust this computer, tap yes then you'll be good to go.
EDIT: I believe you tried to use 7zip for extraction, 7zip can only extract 1 archive at a time and the file you downloaded is compressed twice (tar, gz). WinRAR can decompress the file in one go. Final files have no difference so use whichever suits you best. Don't forget to use my method while locking the bootloader again. Cheers.
Hey! Don't want to open a new forum so I'm just curious which version of gcam you guys are using? Can someone suggest me a gcam? There is not a single gcam that has everything working currently, there are 2 reasons for this and lags :
1 - Our CPU is old, so it can't handle gcams' processing that well.
2 - There has never been a single gcam optimized for our device, except for hass31's gcam port. But that gcam's version is 5.1 and although it worked wonders in Oreo, it has focus issues on Pie.
The gcam you're using produces the best results on this phone right now, at least the front and back cameras work. You can try Urnyx05's gcam ports version 6, those will have back camera working, but the front cam HDR+/HDR+ Advanced won't work. If you downgrade to Oreo, you can use hass31's port. Or you can flash a custom kernel on stock Pie ROM, which fixes the focus issues. If you only have Cam2API enabled with a locked Bootloader, I'd suggest sticking to the gcam you're using right now, because it's the one that works properly. But feel free to test other gcam ports here : https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

Thank you for your detailed answer! Guess I stay with the one I use for now. I'm a bit disappointed as the stock camera records slow motion but gcam don't ,but having an app that makes better quality pictures is more important. Shame xiaomi doesn't update their camera app so we could use theirs with Cam2API.

Yep, Xiaomi doesn't care about their AndroidOne devices, we learnt that the hard way. Meanwhile as I've mentioned the most stable gcam version out there is hass31's Mi A2 Lite optimised port. I'd suggest giving it a try, if you're willing to flash a custom Kernel on Stock. Because it checks all the boxes you've mentioned (including slo-mo), but it lacks Night Sight.
Not sure if anybody has tried this, sorry I don't have gcam enabled on my device so cannot test, but on my redmi note 4 that is almost the same hardware this one works really well

[MOD][Magisk][MIUI][v1.1]ALWAYS on display for Mi 10 Lite (monet)

Hi there!
I made this Magisk module to enable more options to choose with the Always on display on monet and not only the annoying option of "10 seconds after tapping".
Did it modifying the "AODSettings.smali" file inside an old AOD apk, where there was an exception to our device to enable more options. I'm trying to make it work with recent versions.
Tested and working on MIUI Q/R stock and xiaomi.eu based ROMS.
Changelog:
v1.0 (26/01/2021)
- Initial release
- Patched original apk, ver. 2.0.453.
v1.1 (11/02/2021)
-Updated AOD app from 2.0.453 to 2.4.542
-Solved a syntax error on "AODSettings.smali" which could cause side effects on some sensors.
-Dark mode fully supported
-Specific apk bugs solved (Xiaomi's changelog)
Maybe there won't be more updates of this mod because for earlier versions of AOD they included proprietary libs that are not easy to manage.
Known bugs:

The MOD is under testing, working fine with xiaomi.eu 12.1.1 - Android 11.
Super Wallpapers compatible.
Not tested yet on global and another MIUI based ROMs.
Known bugs:
-Some users with Android 10 reported audio jack isn't working with this module installed.
-You tell me.

I have tested your module, but I cannot boot my device with it. I am on xiaomi.eu 12.1.1 as well.
Works on 12.1.3 EEA rom with root.
Please add dark mode. I love sheduled mode.
works fine on 12.1.3.0.RJIEUXM
no problem with audio jack
thanks for this module
works fine for me! Thank you!
Edit: After one day usage I noticed a bug for me: AOD and Lock screen shows AM, PM while using 24hrs clock, so probably I will stop using it for now

It is a specific apk version bug, so I'll try to make the mod work with recent versions.

As this mod is not device specific, you can try, but do it at you own risk, it may work.
Hi, i need to root my Phone for this Mod, right?
Or is there a way to install this without root?

Yes, you must root with Magisk. I don't know if there's another way. Maybe uninstalling the system app with adb and then install manually the modified APK. But I didn't try.

I read that this is unfortunately not working with System Apps.
Is it not possible to edit the Android Manifest and raise the APP Version higher than the already installed AOD App?
Has anyone tried to root the Redmi note 10 pro and tried this mod?
"Maybe there won't be more updates.."
What do you mean by that? So it won't work with the upcoming versions? Then I won't play with root if it's just a temporary solution. Have you noticed the changes of the libs in the latest beta?
Oh, and BTW, is the functionality of this mod the same as for other xiaomi smartphones that include AOD always options out-of-box? I'm sure it's a better solution than disabling MIUI optimizations to get it working (regarding battery efficiency)...

Didn't know that Redmi Note 10 Pro have the same limitation. I mean, maybe there won't be more updates of my mod because for earlier versions than 2.4.542, Xiaomi included proprietary libs inside the apk, they don't have debug symbols and the built apk doesn't work. Look at this
Recompile Settings.apk MIUI 11 · Issue #2243 · iBotPeaches/Apktool
Information Apktool Version (apktool -version) - 2.4.1 Operating System (Mac, Linux, Windows) - Linux Ubuntu 18 APK From? (Playstore, ROM, Other) - ROM Stacktrace/Logcat I: Using Apktool 2.4.1 I: C...
github.com
Is the same problem for me, so this is not my notion.
Also, note that the mod works fine, even with latest betas, so is not a temporary solution. Have been using this along with the Telegram community. Maybe if I have the time I'll try to modify the Android Manifest and see if it works without root. By now, this should work on any Xiaomi with AOD support.
is it possible to install it trough adb with an apk?
Eu Rom Miui 12.5 rom pürüzsüz.
Only the weather super theme has a double clock display error
There is a new update for monet, 12.5.2 (xiaomi.eu), the module doesn't work anymore. Clicking the AOD in settings throws you back to the main settings page.
Thanks, I just installed v1.1_MIUI_AOD-Patched zip to Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, MIUI 12.5.8 EEA stock, and it works flawlessly (I can now use AOD really always (actually scheduled during the day), not only for 10 seconds as Xiaomi forces)

Hello,
Thank you very much for the port. One question: is this ROM based on G40 or G60?

It does... However, for as far as I understood, the G40 doesn't have NFC (although GSMArena says it does), which is why, all the ROMs I've tried so far don't work for Tap to Pay (aka contactless payments). I'm using a G60. So...that's why I'm asking.
I mean yes, the ROM can be installed on both. But do contactless payments work, too? I guess that's kind of my question.

Gsm arean is sadly not true but if u correctly look into g40f logs you can see NFC crashing or blocked by vendor so it may be there but not usable as blocked by vendor aka Motorola so you cannot use any NFC feature on motog40f

About the NFC, would it make a difference if the base ROM was a G60 ROM instead, for let's say RETEU? Or G40 ROM for the same region.

hey, are the animations while closing and switching apps feeling laggy or choppy on your device?
nevermind, fixed it by disabling window blur.
Also, my mobile data doesnt seem to work and for those people who are facing the issue of incoming calls not showing up on the screen, download the google phone app from play store
banking apps like gpay work?
edit: gpay seems to work. but mobile data isn't working
