Project Treble & S10+ - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

So I have spent a bit of time testing out project treble roms, cant get any to boot unfortunately. It might be a twrp thing who at this point knows?
Hopefully some Roms & possibly kernels will pop up In the coming weeks or months
Was worth a try, if anyone has had success with GSI's and getting them to boot, please share your method......:good:

I got my S10E to boot phh's v112 gsi, backlit broken so screen very dim, some other bugs to: some settings and apps crash.
How to:
Make sure you have an exynos version
Have an stock rom installed, bootloader unlocked and rebooted into stock and make sure oem unlocking in greyed out in dev settings.
Install recovery (latest fixed version)
Use multidisabler and format data (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/development)
Reboot recovery
Install GSI, A/B version
Mount system and use TWRP file explorer to delete rw-system.sh in system/bin
Reboot , may need to press power, volume up and bixby few sec in inital boot.

Successfully flashed ......just transitional animation bug, brightness can't be adjusted....but it's not dim....Pixel Experience Rom.

Pixel Dust ......
Just testing out one more, they both boot fine (Pixel Experience & Pixel Dust). ..
Obviously Fingerprint Scanner is non functional also the same brighteness bug (cannot adjust).
Here are some screens of Pixel Dust.
I'm guessing with a little bit of work these roms will be just fine....:good:
Root also works as it should, as your booting to a rooted system....

Thanks to you both for your testing on GSI roms.
If you report the bugs with logcat to phh telegram group i suppose he will fix it for sure.

Thanks. By the way, do we stilll have the magisk after GSi? In other words, as of S10 now have restriction on installation of magisk into system partition and it has to be installed into recovery partition, (the Method using Ian's patched TWRP and Magisk), how GSi interact with root and TWRP?
Thanks in advance.

You can control thé brightness with modifying a build.prop setting just check the git issue on phh site.
Do you mean with last (fixed ?) twrp, can we power off the phone without bootloop ? [emoji16]

Flash magisk ou supersu from twrp as usally.
Not the patched or prepatched provided file lol.
Else some aosp roms are prerooted with supersu. They are tagged *-su* in filename

In the meantime, is someone running GSI as a daily driver?

I am. BUT there are several bugs to be addressed such:
Not working:
Bluetooh/NFC
Fingerprint
Proximity sensor
Auto brightness (manual does)
MTP
Force closes on any app info in settings
Im using because the progect is very promising and phhusson is open to user's reports so, im trying exactly to do that feedback and speed up the development.

[x Force] Installing Magisk Root & Universal Systemless Interface

Had issues installing the latest SuperSU, turns out an old version needs to be installed then updated
Found no mention of Magisk and the x Force so gave it a try. Works beautifully and just wanted to share
This is what I did for reference
Download:
Latest Magisk zip from here
Latest Clark TWRP from here
Have a clean boot, bootloader and system image see this guide here - Also follow this guide for obtaining adb/fastboot if you don't already have it
Copy the Magisk zip to your SDcard
reboot into fastboot either by holding the power button and volume down when booting or via adb
Code:
adb reboot fastboot
Temporarily boot into into TWRP
Code:
fastboot boot C:\twrp-3.0.2-0-clark.img
Select the install option, then navigate to the Magisk zip file. Swipe to install. Wait
Reboot
Install the Magisk app from the play store - official guide said there would be a stub app but i didn't encounter
Reboot again to get Super user access - Note: you can install modules like xposed at this point through the app.
Thankfully my banking app tap to pay works when used with Magisk Hide enabled on it so I am very pleased

Maybe™
My banking app uses google's inbuilt SafteyNet library to detect root and from my understanding that is also how android pay works as well. Magisk's hide function seams to bypass this detection even though on the main screen of Magisk management app the SafetyNet check fails.

Absolutely it is !!!
You are rooting your phone.
BTW, I've been running Magisk on CrashXXLs ROMs since they first appeared last summer. There is a Magisk module available to allow the ROM to pass SafetyNET.

With the very latest CrashXXL ROM from a few days ago, Magisk 14.0 passes SafetyNET without the need for any additional modules, or at least it does on my EU xt1580 :good:
If you are coming from stock MM-6.01 on the X-Force, I can strongly recommend the CrashXXL 7.0 ROM as it is rock solid, works with TWRP and has auto-updating disabled (which is a good thing if you don't want to accidentally brick your rooted phone). Moto are not really supporting the X-Force, so there is absolutely no reason to stick with stock as there will be no official Oreo update.
Your other option is (unofficial) LineageOS, however, when I tried it a few weeks ago, I found it extremely unstable, particularly when running TomTom! Therefore, I cannot recommend LineageOS for the X-Force.

And how are we gonna unlock the bootloader?
Is there a way to do that?

Root and Magisk on Oreo (oct security patch)

After using this phone for a while I decided to root it.
I unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and flashed Magisk, but all I get is bootloop or stuck on bootlogo (your device has been unlocked.....)
SOLUTION
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/guide-how-to-magisk-root-xposed-oreo-8-t3743273
Applicable also for moto Z2 Play, just with appropriate recovery, of course
Please note the updates to the first post. It may be necessary to do the procedure twice.
I tried these TWRPs:
3.2.3.0
64bit 3.2.1
and TWRP and modified magisk from https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-play/how-to/guide-twrp-root-t3667769
I tried all TWRPs with both modified magisk and official v18.
I have XT1710-09 with Oreo and October security patch
Is there a way to root this lastest firmware?
Thanks

I did 3.2.3-0 TWRP method (by Junior Passos) on my XT1710-06 device with 8.0 on August 1 security patch (purposefully neglected updating any further cause method was tested exactly up to August patch according to Passos) and everything seems working pretty fine for a month now. Think I've installed no Magisk modules other than Xposed systemless yet and I've no interest in SafetyNet as well, so not deeply tested either. Don't know for sure, but I guess there's a good chance for such method to work on October patch too. Just be sure to perform every step as it is now in the 3.2.3-0 OP. One word of advice: after performing TWRP backup, look for it in /system/media and move it to both external and internal SDcards just in case something goes wrong (usually because of a missed step, I can say)... Also: I recommend to install Magisk v17.1 first time; then, if you want, update to v18 but right from the installer...

Strange, I have zero magisk problems when using the latest stock rom. Flash in twrp, done, no issues. However, it could be because I first back up boot and system and then restore them with twrp before rooting(this removes encryption).
Have these steps worked for me...
1.)Flash TWRP using Fastboot
2.)Go to TWRP/Settings and open Terminal.
3.)Run both of following commands:
echo KEEPVERITY=true>>/data/.magisk
echo KEEPFORCEENCRYPT=true>>/data/.magisk
Click to collapse
4.)Flash Magisk-v17.1.zip
5.)Repeat step 2 and 3 dont wipe.
6.)Start
NOTE: before Reinstall stock or uninstall Magisk.
I did the Junior Passos method of doing the backup, and everything is working like a charm.

It's not what rom but, how you do it. When on stock ROM, it is encrypted so you must first back up system and boot and then immediately restore them, this remove encryption. Now flash magisk and it will work.

This worked perfectly on my Moto Z2 XT1710-06 with Oreo 8.0 when no other options worked.
Flash or Boot into TWRP
Backup System and Boot partitions in TWRP
Restore System and Boot Partitions in TWRP (note I had to enable R/W access in TWRP to restore the system partition)
Flash Magisk-v19.3.zip
Reboot
That is it. Now Rooted and passes all SafteyNet test. No more restricted apps. Even Google Pay now works.
Thank You.

Root & Xposed on WW_17.1810.1910.73 & Update WW_17.1810.1911.110

Hello i found a little way for have root & and working xposed with no bug on last firmware WW_17.1810.1910.73 & WW_17.1810.1911.110
Stock Recovery
You need adb drviers and unlocked ZenFone 6 on WW_17.1810.1910.73 or WW_17.1810.1911.110
First install last Magisk Manager
Open setting of Magisk and add custom update channel https://github.com/solohsu/magisk_files#custom-update-channel
Download ZenFone6RootXposed-10.73.img or ZenFone6RootXposed-11.110 (i have add stock boot11.110.img, we will need it for next update)
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/skzceszqu8d3j/AsusZenFone6
Now reboot device to bootloader
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
And boot with ZenFone6RootXposed-10.73.img or ZenFone6RootXposed-11.110 (not flash it, your device have a chance to bootloop)
Code:
fastboot boot ZenFone6RootXposed-10.73.img
Code:
fastboot boot ZenFone6RootXposed-11.110.img
The devices reboot automaticly
Go to Magisk and install Magisk, choose direct install
Reboot and Enjoy root
if you want Xposed flash it with magisk :
Riru Core
I use YAHFA
Android 10 ElderDrivers Xposed
And the manager
Xposed Installer
Good morning
I have tried several times root for Android 10
The Magisk part works smoothly, but the Xposed part never works, producing a bootloop
I have extracted the boot and applied magisk, loaded the Riru Core module, but when loading ElderDrivers, the phone stays in bootloop
Do you know what the reason may be?
Works splendid, great guide!
Tried to use Sandhook first, but ended up with YAHFA instead due some xposed problems (xposed not detected).
Had an old version of Android 9, so i first upgraded it to "UL-ASUS_I01WD-ASUS-16.1220.1909.194-1.1.1" (only supported upgrade path - 9 to 10), then to "UL-ASUS_I01WD-ASUS-17.1810.1910.73-1.1.1-user" (your specified .73)
- Later patching with your img
Thanks
it is impossible
Starting with .73 stock
at the moment I install Riru Yahfa, following the manual, it does not start again, unless install the official boot
the device stays on the Zenfone boot screen without doing anything else
I have tried the version supplied by Magisk, I don't know if you have tried another version
Why will we need the stock boot for the next update? We can't make menully update after root? I just want to make root not install xposed.
Sent from my ASUS_I01WD using Tapatalk
thanks a lot, this a really easy way to get root, but i have a little issue, i had my phone with NO pin code or fingerprint before using this method, and now if i want to ad a pin, password or gesture it simply does not get saved, every time i do the procedure to set the pin it does like if i did nothing, anyone has this issue, or know how to fix it, is there a problem if i hard reset?
any help will be good
In the latest build .110 ctsprofile is false while basicintegrity is true. Is it due to the root or the rom has not been signed by google?

Someone try this method to install xposed? I afraid to get bootloop.
Sent from my ASUS_I01WD using Tapatalk
Hi everyone, I hope somebody can help me out to solve an issue I just got with my zenfone,
After using an advise from DaConcho for getting back screen lock after unlocking bootloader I got in another situation.
I followed the instructions from the post and everything was going fine, I boot thought adb with the provided patched boot for Q .110 and that far no issues , when I open magisk manager to download magisk from the alternative source magisk manager prompt to complete the installation downloading some necessary files, not the magisk version, just said some files, and I click yes, then it installed something and reboot, phone started fine, but when I wanted to start the process again I found out that I loose PC connectivity.
I have no connection at all, even if I manually boot in bootloader I can't connect to PC, so no adb commands,
Please can someone help

Try this: If you need help you can always just post a quote here
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot "your magisk.img"
Let your phone boot (happens automatically)
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot "your magisk.img"
Click to collapse
the issue is that when i do fastboot boot magisk.img it gets stuck on the boot animation. i have to hold the power button and volume up to force it to power off then i can boot it back to the normal version

Ensure the folder /data/adb/modules is empty. In other words, delete all your Magisk modules and try again.

Since you have no root access currently, you have to do so via adb in recovery mode with adb enabled.

im camping over the weekend so i will try this on monday and get back to you if it works or not. i assume now its prob good practice to disable magisk modules when updating so i will do that from now on.

Yes, at the very least disable all Magisk modules before OTA update. I learnt this hard way. One particular module that I know of which will cause bootloop after OTA is SmaliPatcher.
Anyway, I found a simpler method which bypass the manual patching of stock recovery.img (I couldn't get it to work on OOS11 anyway).
Use this version of TWRP and fastboot boot into it. You should then boot into TWRP (without overwriting your stock recovery) and use TWRP file manager to delete all Magisk modules.

Thanks. This worked fine. I just used local install from update, backed out without rebooting, installed magisk app and did the first reboot into bootloader, then wrote magisk modded boot image to boot a/b. It was a dirty update over the prior version.

Hi, I really need EU version of boot.img, could you please help me?
I've even looked for the full 11.0.2.1.HD65BA but with no luck.
So basically can't find anywhere both the boot.img and the full stock rom, any advice?
Thank you

How To Guide Install GSI and magisk with TWRP and ODIN

/!\ DISCLAIMER
I'am not responsible for bricked device, dead eMMC or anythings else
and if you flash TWRP, your warranty is now void (Not if you live in Europe and the breakage is not because of the root).
If you have a problem, I am regularly here and a whole forum can help you.
(Pls dont blame my english it isnt my fisrt language)
We know, rooting this phone is kinda..... difficult, he as the imei problem, magisk wont work if u flash it on twrp.
But i will show you in this thread how to root him sucessfully and install a gsi and root it. Lets go
I have 2 method : flash from twrp (for keeping the stock firmware) or flashing magisk with odin3 (for GSI)
1. Lets go on the first method:
You need to install TWRP --> TWRP
You need to download magisk CANARY ( At the end of the post)
Put it in your phone and boot TWRP
Flash it, format data and reboot your phone
(With the A325FXXU2AVC2 firmware you probably dont gonna have problem but if your imei die -->IMEI fix)
Install the magisk app and in settings, select canary channel
Update magisk app and the root
2. The second method :
You need to root your device with odin and magisk
-> Take your firmware on samfw (A325FXXU2AVC2 if u can) patch the AP on the magisk app and flash it in odin with BL,CP,CSC without auto reboot
Shutdown your phone and reboot in DL mode and flash TWRP
Reboot into TWRP
Flash a GSI (Go in "install", "install image" click on your .img and flash to system image), I give here one --> crDroid (if you dont have a sdcard, just pull gsi in the storage via MTP on twrp)
Format data
(If you want Gapps and your GSI dont have it, you need to flash it (open gapps, etc) but the system partition is too small, do that in a linux shell : e2fsck -f <your gsi.img> and resize2fs <your gsi.img> 4G and reflash the GSI)
Install magisk app
And voila, you sucessfully root your Samsung Galaxy A32
I hope this post can help anyone
Edit: I forgot to say : Go in phh settings and select "Use alternate way to detect headphone" in Misc, for 90Hz display go to Misc and select "Force FPS" and select 90Hz, go to Samsung and enable "Extend Brightness range", "Use alternate audio policy" and (for better photo) "Access to all camera" and finally go to Misc and enable "Force enable Camera2API HAL3" and "Expose aux camera".
What doesnt work:
Fingerprint reader
MTP (use adb instead, app with a GUI : Python adb file explorer GUI
GSI dont boot with encryption enabled
Credit and thanks to :
@Prove N. for his TWRP (you saved us)
Magisk developers for the root
@dronkit for fix the imei issue
And XDA developers and all the staff
Have a good day and bye bye
Do in need a SD card so that i can put the gsi to the sd card?
