Phone wont store taken picture, App crashes instantly after taking an picture - LineageOS Questions & Answers

I use an MOTO G5 (cedric) with LineageOS (https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/rom-lineageos-16-0-t3885211) and the Problem is that if i take an picture is crashes, and the google camera app says that i dont have sufficent storage(i also tried diffrent camera apps). Every other app (Netflix, Play Music, etc) where i can store data too dont have problems like this. I have tried (force)Restarting the phone and force close the camera app. I also gave the app the permission to write and read data.

i found the solution
I just deactivated the integrated privacy feature of the phone for the specific camera app and it works now.

Yes, this thread is pretty old, I know. I still use the moto G5, with the same issue that CruZer003 described.
LineageOS 16.0-20190912-UNOFFICAL-cedric.
Please, can anybode explain the solution for me as nativ German-speaking? Screenshots would be wonderfull.
Thanks for support...

Slo-mo feature missing after Lineage install

I recently installed Lineage os on my Moto g4 plus (athene). I have noticed that in the stock ROM the camera had the feature to shoot in slow motion. This feature however is missing from every camera app after installing Lineage. Can somebody please offer a solution?
It's not a solution but here is some understanding. Not all device features can be done when using open source software. Unless the device oem has made the code for that sensor available then there is nothing that can really be done.
I noticed the same thing on a HTC-10, HDR and slow motion are missing from the stock LineageOS and Google camera apps.
The official HTC camera app is available on the Play Store but crashes immediately upon opening.
My other phone is a Nexus 6p and everything just works as it should, I guess I took it for granted

"Cannot display panorama" error on one+ 3T

hello,
i'm having issues with stock camera app.
when ever i take panorama photos and try to view them in gallery (regardless of app used), i get this error message:
"cannot display panorama / the image file does not contain the required panorama metadata".
so far i tried with default gallery app and quickpick. neither of them are able to open the panorama file.
i also tried with google camera app. this seems to take panoramas without issue.
the only time / place i am able to view the panorama files is right after i take them and use the "recent pic" option from within the camera app.
right now i`m on android 7.1.1 with OS 4.1.6. unlock bootloader, TWRP, rooted device, stock OS / kernel.
already tried to clear camera app and gallery app data/cache. also did a wipe of cache / dalvik for entire phone. all in vain.
so .. if anyone has other suggestions ...
thanks.
In QuickPic, don't press on the displayed panorama icon but pinch-to-zoom instead.
Also keep in mind that QuickPic is noticeably slower on Nougat and might take some time to render the photo in full resolution.
The fastest gallery for Nougat at the moment is Simple Gallery, which also shows panoramas without issues for me.

The stock gallery doesn't give me any issues with panoramas, but it's a crappy slow app and I don't use it.
Nothing you can do about this. Something is fundamentally wrong with the way panorama-metadata is stored with their stock camera app.
Also taking panoramas in general is a PITA. I tried numerous shots at the beach last week. All were unusable because of countless stitching errors.
Clearing app data did not help unfortunately and It's not the only thing weird, also taking panoramas with google camera doesn't refocus for each shot.
Even some few OP5 camera reviews mentioned the same behavior. I really hope OnePlus fixes their app eventually.

Geotagging pictures

Hi,
I've been trying a few camera apps. I'm using the A2 camera module (magisk), GCam_mod (R5Plus_fix_crash), CameraMX app, CameraZoomFX app and OpenCamera app (from FDroid). And I could only use the geotagging feature with the Open Camera app. The other 4 apps didn't geotag any photo. I must say I have google services disabled, I don't know if they heavily rely on them. All other location apps work just fine.
I tried leaving the app open for quite a while. Tried shooting with split screen (not the first two) with an app that uses location (satstat or maps) after it fine locates me. No luck. Only OpenCamera is able to use the phone location to tag the photos.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Google Photo Help?

So I have tried to find the answer with no luck. How do I switch my text app, Facebook, Instagram apps to use Google photos as the default instead of Samsung photo app?
It will use both, just add a shortcut to Google Photos on your homescreen where Samsung Gallery was and use that instead
That definitely didn't solve the problem. It's just using the Samsung photo gallery, and doesn't even give me the option to make Google photos as my default.

Try setting google photos as default app for photos will do.

I am having the same issue. There's no way to change the stock Gallery app to google photos. When I had my pixel, my apps would source directly from Google Photos, and I guess I was spoiled. Even if a photo wasn't downloaded and I selected it to send, it would forward it after it downloaded.
It's a pretty dumb situation honestly with this phone. Your text app you can use the Google photo app, but anything else like , IG or Facebook you have to go into Google photos app and download it to the phone so the picture you want to post goes into the stupid Samsung gallery. I bought the app that someone had suggested to disable the Samsung gallery app and it didn't work. Also when you disable the app, it effects other apps on the phone, so you are pretty much screwed. Besides the fingerprint scanner, I think this whole, not being able to just use the Google photo app as default for everything is the next biggest ****ty thing about this phone. I still love the phone, but you pay the big bucks and you still have to deal with issues like this, when phones half the price offer these two things better. Oh well I guess?

Camera app crashes

Hello, unfortunately my camera app crashes when taking pictures. However, this does not happen when I snap pictures in Pro mode.
On "photo" mode it takes a picture then hangs briefly and plop the app quits.
I have not consciously changed anything.
This happened with MIUI Global 12.5 version then I updated to 13.0.2.0 version, unfortunately without success.
I attach the crash report of the camera app, in the hope that you can do something with it.
I have deleted the app data. Also I removed dual apps, that should help according to an entry I found via Google, but it did not.
Which camera app do you use?
The stock camera App.
