so since there is sound going out of the screen of the lg g8, does putting a screen protector effect the sound output?

Not at all. I have a Pure Gear glass with a Spigen clear case and it sounds the same as when I had it naked out of the box.

Two interesting things:
a) It has a sort of bone conduction effect, which makes it very easy to hear in crowed places
b) When used as a loud speaker, it becomes MUCH louder if laid down flat on a surface (as opposed to being held in the hand, or propped up leaning against something).

I've got an otterbox type case/cover, the screen cover is a plastic..the difference in audio is negligible.

How does the pure gear glass fit? Is it full adhesive? And is it cut to the correct size? It seems almost impossible to find a quality glass screen protector for this device.

It is not full adhesive, and is slightly narrower than the device. It's not my ideal fit, but it's not not bad.

Thanks for the info. I was debating between the pure gear and the ishieldz tempered glass which I'm going to check out tomorrow. Does the gap under the screen protector bother you at all?

No. However, in sunlight it's hard to see as the glass has a texture to it that gives it a tiny for lack of a better word

I tend to be picky about my screen, so I think I'd almost rather have a smaller protector that doesn't cover the curve, so long as it's tempered glass and full adhesive

I have tempered glass on mine and the screen still sounds fine

What is the best non-Tempered glass screen protector for LG V20?

Since there don't seem to be any tempered glass screen protectors that cover the entire screen and stick properly to the curved edges, I'm looking for the next best option.
What is the best protective film for the V20?
So far, I have come across these two on eBay:
1. Nillkin HD Clear Crystal Transparent Thin Phone Screen Protector Film For LG V20
2. 2x Mikvon Armor Screen Protector for LG V20 Retail Package with accessories
Anyone have experience with either of these protectors? Are they worth buying?
I tried to find Skinomi on eBay but shipping to my country is not available.
Note. International shipping is important.

Yes I did but the shipping costs are way too high, at U$9.95 + U$4.00 it would cost more to ship to my country than the cost of the screen protector itself.
I got this one and it rocks! It goes all the way to sides and it doesn't attract fingerprints, without compromising the screen quality!

The Armorsuit screen protectors have always treated me well. They seem to be clearer/have less of a "fuzz effect" than the others I've tried. They're wet application if that matters to you. I personally think it makes the process easier.

Mikvon goes from edge to edge. However it does not stick to the top and bottom curve of the phone. You will have a gap and it slowly collect dust. Also if you have a case, it might push on to the SP on the side.

Is this wet application? How much room is on the side? I use spigen case and looking for screen protector that doesn't interfere with it.
If the screen protector goes from edge to edge it has tendency to be peeled off by case.
Also does it cover entire screen from top to botton included lg logo?
Not a wet application. Just a dry one - you'll get quite a bit of bubbles but they clear up within a day. It's got about 1mm at the sides, cutting it a little close - slight off and you'll have that halo issue which I solved by snipping a bit off whichever corner.

So far, I haven't seen such a problem. No dust or lint collecting on the sides. but like I mentioned, slight alignment issues and you'll probably have to trim it off using a cuticle scissors or something - that's what I did. :good::good:
Here's a video for reference. Pardon the quality, I got the cam for christmas so just fooling around with it.

Looks good!! Thank you for the detail review!!
It's definitely better then the Mikvon I got. The ads say "gold..." and the pic shows a tint of gold?? Don't see that in the video though, so it's just a normal TPU SP?

The gold is just the top film used during application. It's really just clear. Not too sure how a TPU SP is like but I reckon yes, it's just a normal clear version.
One word of advice, don't try to remove the cut-outs when you're removing film 1, leave it there, it's easier to remove that way - I learnt that the hard way.
Here's it now, the bubbles are pretty much gone and I haven't done anything specific to it. Perhaps playing some swiping games pushes the bubbles away

Bump. Anyone find anything yet? Tried the highly recommended skinomi and that thing is crap. If you want to feel like you're touching an inner tube for a bike (minus the dirt) enjoy. But I can't stand that rubber feel. Ordered a different PET type from Amazon, hasn't come yet but hoping I'll have luck. Wet installations suck. And absolutely hate tempered glass. So, anyone have any PET type protectors to recommend that cover the whole screen?

Nope, dry install. If centered correctly upon installation, it is complete full coverage. My tip is to get a deep steam in your bathroom, and make sure your hands are clean. I have no lifting from my case and I got a case that the phone slides into. It has been perfect since install. Only 1 comes in package, but lifetime warranty. I highly recommend it.

Hey guys,
has anyone experienced an "oily" Effect on his display with the original film from oneplus on it. I don't mean fingerprints, my phone is completely clean but some area's just don't look like they are. Is this effect from the film or is my display broken?
I could rip the film off but then I have to get an new one :/

I had a HTC One m7 before and after using it 3 years it had so many tiny scratches.
I don't want this to happen with my op3, too.. I always wear them in my pocket, never with a key or anything in it, but the film already has some of those tiny scratches.

Currently have it naked, keys and knives don't scratch the screen, be careful when you clean it tho, don't use any spray just a micro fiber should be enough. Plastic screen protectors catch a lot of smudges and scratches really easily. Naked or Tempered glass is currently the only option.

Poor experience with glass film

I applied the glass protection of the brands Mocolo and Amfilm on my Pixel 2 XL. And what I realize is that, the black level is decreased somewhat giving way to gray color. These glass films look shiny. I wonder if these films of malleable plastic that needs a liquid to be applied, if it keeps the color faithful to the screen.
The last film I used was this ..

There is another plastic film option as well. Even though it protects little compared to glass, I prefer plastic because of the faithful color levels. For greater protection only use a case that has larger edges than the screen. I use a Spigen liquid crystal and its edges is above the screen, so I already have a good protection.

I've had this for a while after some bad tempered glass experiences. Along with a Spigen case of course.

What screen protector doesn't suck?

These new tempered glass protectors with the black surround adhesive are terrible. Poor touch sensitivity and a weird hollow feel/sound because they don't actually sit flat on the screen. Are there any non-adhesive tempered glass protectors that are worth looking into? Amazon reviews are spotty. for every brand and every type of protector for the G8.

Using the LK film protector I linked earlier. Goes on like the ringke film, using multiple steps and doing 1/2 at a time. Feel is good. A little stickier than a tempered glass protector, but it's solid on the screen. No air gap. I think it might be interfering with the crystal sound display a bit. Volume seems a little lower now.

I have several of the Ringke stocked up, they have a great installation process. I personally enjoy the film (dry application) protectors more than glass as they have a much slimmer profile. The downside is that they offer little impact protection and can be imprinted, but they're cheap enough that I just keep a few around and change them as needed.
This was the only full-adhesive glass protector I could find. DON'T buy it! I left pics in my Amazon review showing why: Our screen glass curves before the pixels end. The only way to have a flat piece of glass stick to the whole screen is to cut it smaller than the visible screen edges. This one hangs off the sides by 3mm, rendering the edges useless.
[2 Pack] LG G8 ThinQ Screen... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZZ6YGY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I've just ordered the only one I could find that claims to be smaller than the screen area, but the description still makes it a bit tough to know what to expect.
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Protector-Coverage-Tempered-Adhesive/dp/B07QJ41M2H
Update: DON'T BUY THESE. This one is even worse, as it's way too tall. Again, the scroll bars don't work because you can't touch them. Total trash.
Unfortunately, unless they make one with genuinely curved glass that follows the screen, there won't be a useful full-adhesive protector for our phone. It looks like every glass protector is flat. They advertise rounded edges, but are still flat glass. If you don't believe me, please look at the pictures I've left in the Amazon reviews. These should never have been made.
Tempered glass is used to protect the screen from scratches and also Protect direct damage of the screen. any branded Tempered Glass is famous with their Hard surface and smooth working. I always prefer Casper Tempered Glass and Whitestone dome Glass.
Add this one to the list of screen protectors that don't work. It won't lay flat on the sides. Long air gaps up/down both sides.
Here's the item description on Amazon. I can't post links yet.

Full Body Skin
You may want to think about giving the Skinomi Full Body Skin a try. I wouldn't say that it feels as smooth as a glass protector, but it does wonders at protecting the back of the phone. It also keeps it from slipping off of surfaces and easier to hold! Very nice for those times when you don't want to wear a case. The back protector doesn't interfere with any cases, and the front protector covers the entire screen of the device. Skinomi's warranty is pretty legit too.
I've used it on my Nexus 4, v30 and now the G8.
I'm using an AILUN screen protector with a SPIGEN TOUGH ARMOUR case and they fit and work perfectly together. Got them both off EBay.
I was wondering if screen protectors might dull the sound, since the screen itself is a speaker.
I just placed the wet install IQ Shield on my new G8. I haven't even turned it on yet as I'm in a contract on a stupid Note 9,but I like them on my last 4 devices.

Luibor tempered glass screen protector

Anyone has any experience with this screen protector? It looks good, and inexpensive, with lots of good rating.
But, it's too good to be true. And those ratings also for their old products I think.
If I cannot find better alternative, I might jump into this. On my Pixel 2 XL, I am using tempered glass from Whitestone dome. It is good, but expensive, and they don't have Pixel 5.
https://www.amazon.com/Luibor-Googl...2878597&sprefix=luibor+pi,aps,226&sr=8-7&th=1
Yeah, Whitestone is honestly the best screen protector I've ever used. Looking for a replacement or hoping they make it at some point. Looks like they completely avoided making a pixel 4 protector.
I'll check out that protector you linked to, but it has 300+ reviews from weeks ago when no one has a pixel 5 yet. So who knows...
I ended up with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J7MDDPV/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It doesn't include installation kit, so you need to line up the screen protector carefully. I think this is the same as Luibor as well. Installation is straight forward, but it can be difficult without steady hand. There were bubbles which I can squished out, luckily. Although, I threw away 1 screen protector because of dust problem. The other two were successfully installed on mine and my wife's P5. Responsiveness is good, no problem. But, I am not that happy because mine is a bit miss-aligned. Oh well, still looks good and I can live with it. I will replace with other if it is broken, preferably one with installation kit.
What about the Sound quality with a screenprotector? I read a lot That on LG phones (which have under screen speaker for 2 years) it changes the Sound quality and makes it worser if a screenprotector is aplied
Btw. Dont use those camera protector glases until they make One That has a cutout for the mic.

Sound quality is OK-ish. Pixel 5 is not good, compared to my 2XL. Stereo is non-existent. But, I have to live with it, sadly.
I don't understand about the camera protector glasses related to mic. Why is that?

I don't see the camera screen protector would interfere the mic.

ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Anti-Glare Screen Protector for Google Pixel 5 (2020) (Case Friendly) Anti-Bubble Matte Film. My favorite.
I ordered both the Luibor and the Qitayo versions... and the dimensions are exactly the same, 100%
I installed the Qitayo, and 'tested' the Luibor too... just pressing my fingers a lot of times on the glass and you'll see fingerprints quite easily... so the oleophobic coating, if it's there at all, isn't great.
But protection is what counts for me, and considering they're dirt cheap I'll take it.
Like 8 months ago I had a tempered glass from Amfilm on my Oneplus 7 Pro, a curved one with full adhesive, yes they do exist, and that one had awesome oleophobic coating, the glass felt really smooth and almost no fingerprints whatsoever.
But it's not available for the Pixel 5.

How much space is there around the case friendly version? Do you have a case on it? I'd like a film protector that blends in more than the glass I have on there that doesn't touch the black so leaves a big gap and is too visible for my liking.

They also have "matte" version https://www.armorsuit.com/collectio...ogle-pixel-5-screen-protector-case-friendly-1
Happy with the Spigen Glass.

Which one specifically?
Is it easy to install?
Fit the area nicely? Not too small?

No. I have had this one on for weeks now and its like-new still. This is the matte version (see pic below)

How much space is there around the case friendly version? Do you have a case on it? I'd like a film protector that blends in more than the glass I have on there that doesn't touch the black so leaves a big gap and is too visible for my liking.

Here is a pic with gap shown between ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Anti-Glare Screen Protector and GESMA for Google Pixel 5 Case.

im on my second attempt at tempered glass (latest one is the Spigen)
Both attempts have resulted in the proximity sensor being activated on calls - resulting in the screen going black when call is accepted (even if the phone is on my desk). It also means i cant access phone options during calls.
Is it just me having these issues with tempered glass ???
