Hi hello there.
It's been a while since i have tinkered with my device, so much that to this day, i am on the stock tom, not even rooted.
I used to flash and tinker for fun (i'm by no mean a pro, it was just casual fun, using the tools available), and now i just use my device for... using the phone and sms/mms.
4 days ago, i began playing pokemon go, and to my surprise, more often than not, and it's very irritating, the game tell me that my OS is not compatible, shutting off the game. Like every 5 minute.
Well, ok...
Being kinda bad at anger management, i'm asking (before exploding my phone against a wall) if there is a rom somewhere that is fully compatible with this application? Especially since iconsider playing Wizard unite and it might be based on the same code.
On top of that, it would be great if :
- The rom is still maintained
- Is adequate for gaming (game like Pogo or simple thing like when i commute)
- No need for super visual etc, or gadget, i like simple things.

As u ppls can see on my Sig...i just returned my Htc G1 due to some keyboard issue..and i m ready to do some nasty work for my TP2 but i need some answers before doing something with my TP2..
1st-- y we need some custom rom like 6.5.5...while we are already getting everything on the stock rom..and custom roms are same as stock rom some of the difference that the apps tab icons are big(as i am seeing on Custom Rom )<---- Prove me if i m wrong about it
2nd-- i m sooooooo exited to see android on HP2 and i really appreciate the hard work of the developers but i will wait till complete rom comes out ...and my main cause was to buy that machine is to use android on it but i need some user experience.....
3-- i want to know that difference between dual boot ..
3a --- as i saw that a dev created an app that we can directly boot android when we turn on the phone without booting in to WM...
3b---other is that 1st we need to turn on windows mobile then android ...
4--i will ask later when i get my other answers
i want to know which process is best like which process drain minimum battery and run android kinda normal speed...i know that its not that fast but come on ..
these are the main ques that are like dancing all time in my mind..Plz ignore my dictionary and answer my ques

1. Different ROMs provide different experiences. For instance, the 6.5.x ROMs have a more finger-friendly navigation altogether, with the Windows Start button being at the bottom of the screen instead of the top.
Different ROMs will also give you different benefits. NRGZ ROM comes cooked with a radio app that doesn't need headphones (but of course, if you have a CDMA TP2, you won't have a radio to begin with). Deep Shine ROM makes the most of the Zoom Bar down at the bottom of the screen of your TP2. And Valkyrie's ROMs (the one I use) provides the most stability.
Note though that 6.5.x ROMs tend to be slower than most stock-ROMs.
2. You should just try Android for yourself. In my experience, Android was good. I actually downloaded the Facebook app with it, right after I downloaded the Facebook app for WinMo. So it was funny to see those two updates on my Facebook.
Regardless, sound doesn't work, and Camera doesn't work. When those two functions work, I myself will probably be using Android more than WinMo. I don't care much about BT. Look in the Android section of this sub-forum, find out for yourself.
3. Dual-boot simply allows you to boot one operating system first. So say you didn't want to boot WinMo first, then Android, the dev's app allows your to just boot Android first before WinMo. Simple as that.
Ask anything else, but take a look around first.

well i have Vodafone Tp2..idk that is Cdma or not right now i using stock rom for windows mobile 6.5.5..that what the device says it have Sense UI i think TF3d 2.5...so i saw not much difference between my stock rom and the custom rom..and for the android ques well i was asking that which way is better ot use android like i think if i boot throught windows mobile then windows mobile will also take some ram else if i directly turn on android then android will use all the ram.and atleast runs better for this direct process and drain less battery....thats what i think and well i watched alot of videos and surfing web for this like 2weeks before asking these ques....
4---well for some games i want to use fpecse emulator...so any way to overclock the tp2..becoz i saw some of the videos of the emulator on Hd2 .. it runs the game pretty smooth...
5--App2SD..well can we use ap2sd on TP2 while using android?? <---Dump ques
4. There isn't a way (yet) to overclock your TP2. Oddly enough, Android on the TP2 is overclocked. But overclocking it via WinMo isn't possible as of current.
Regardless, playing certain games on FPSCE like FF7 works just fine. The more graphically enhanced the game is, the more the phone will lag. Every game I've loaded onto my phone (including the graphically beautiful Call of Duty 2) has worked just fine. Certain games are only in VGA, so download the WVGA fix (it's located in the "Programs to Download for your TP2" thread in the sub-section "Themes and Apps").
5. I wouldn't know about that, but if you want to put programs on your SD card, I believe they have a fix for that in the Android programs already. So, see that thread in "Android Development."

I have an Xperia Play R800i, I have unlocked the Boot Loader and I am using a stock 4.0.2.A.0.42, which sucks ...
I want to use flashtools to install a custom ROM, but the thing is ... I am not a developer, I am a begginer in Android ... And unfortunately I dont have the time to test several custom ROMS to see what I like.
So, here is what I am looking for:
1. I primarily use my phone for retro gaming, emulators and stuff. I have very little interest in recent android games.
2. I use a lot of its basic functions as a smartphone, such as GMail, Maps, whatsapp and 3G.
3. I prefer something light, that wouldnt compromise gaming performance.
4. Being pretty and shiny isnt a necessity. (could be a bonus, though)
5. Here is the catch: I am really interested in the progress PPSSPP is making, since I loved my PSP. I understand that it will probably just run some basic games, but I really think it is cool. If there is any custom ROM that works better with this particular app...
6. Overclocking capabilities. Again, because of PPSSPP.
7. Something that looks and feels close to the stock ROM, if possible.
I tried to go into specifics so that you can help me find exactly what I need! Thanks a lot!
NXT Light Rom is nice. It's the Rom I'm currently on. I have tried different roms but they all seem to work the same for me. I settled on NXT Light because It simply allowed me more space for installation of apps, it looked nice and I got a battery percentage thingy in notification bar along with alot other very useful features.
Should take a look at it.
As for kernal LuPuSv6-GB is pretty good, with a 1.6 GHz profile already set.

I took some time to return back to pure stock Android to see what I was missing from the great custom roms. From the minute your first boot completes, two things happen: You feel comforted as you know that everything works as expected. You feel the stability and safety as your phone probably won't play any weird tricks to you. But as you go through your settings, pulling down your notification panel or pressing the power menu (and probably a million other things!) you see that all the extra things you were used to are not there. Confusion is the next thing to occur as you may indeed like the polished look and safe playing - ahhh, the original firmware on your device -, but you would definately like your phone to do more things.
Most of us, like to make the most of our devices. So we try custom roms, kernels, radios, themes...the list is endless...to find the golden rule in order for our phone to look and perform the best possible. Developers come up with new and innovative ideas most of the time and testers try their mods in order to provide feedback for things to get better. This is a nice thing and I guess this is called evolution or progress, name it what you like. It's an addictive process for both ends, especially for devs as the joy of making something work the way they pictured it to be, is the most rewarding thing in the world and for the end user the joy of helping devs out and by having the latest and the greatest is a reason to make their day.
But let's get focused on the end user. Wiping and flashing...wiping and flashing...it's a vicious circle man! Everybody's searching for the holy grail, the ultimate rom for their device. But guess what...YOU'LL NEVER GONNA GET IT! Why? Concerning custom roms and as the updates are very frequent, even if you have flashed a version with the minimum bugs possible, the next one will probably have an annoying or critical bug. So either you wait for an update or you start searching for a rom similar to the one you use in order to avoid a certain issue. So as you guess, this is a neverending road trip! And the truth is that after a year or two flashing a million of things on your phone, your device gets old and you probably thinking of upgrading to a newer model. Which of course you need to try it's true potentials, so you will start testing things again... What you realise is you as the end user, you never trully enjoy your phone as it has become a "lab rat", constantly under testing.
So what's the "cure" for you? You can spend some time flashing all different kinds of roms and kernels. When it comes to roms, look for the features that you think suits your needs the most and will be used on a daily basis more or less. I know that a million other features might seem cool to you but if you are not gonna use them they are useless to you. The truth is that we are living in a world were more is better but you need to focus on what is really useful to you. Do not forget that the more the features on a rom, probably the more the possibility of issues to occur or the more the battery consumption. So look for something that is not extremely overloaded with all mods available outhere. Look more for stabiltiy and a little less for performance.
To end this...by doing the above, you already provided feedback on devs the time you were trying things, so you helped them improve their work, and by settling down to a specific rom, you will start enjoying your phone and you'll have a device that suits your daily needs. In the end, even if you still haven't got that, you will need to settle down on something. Otherwise you are doomed to play a role in the "Neverending Story" movie!!!
I got my GN on Oct 16th, played with it on stock ROM for a couple of weeks, then 4.1.2 came out so decided to root it and install Paranoid Android 2.54 on Nov 8th...
Running/loving it since.
No theme, just tablet mode.
Of course I've also customized things more to my likings:

For me it's just Flash -> Test -> Flash -> Test, haven't done any wiping since the last few months and I can run a multitude of different ROMs (MIUI excluded) fine. If there are something that FCs constantly, I just clear its data.
I only test out different ROMs when I'm in the mood. When it's just the usual daily routine I use CM 10.1 nightlies since, in my opinion, they are one of the more reliable ROMs. CyanDelta also makes the whole process a lot easier. If I'm going somewhere without internet access for more than a few days, I slap CM 10.1.2 on my GNex and it's ready to go.
Running CM hasn't caused me any issues so far (like not being able to make a call, or GPS suddenly fails to work). I prefer the constant flashing rather than staying on the same firmware for weeks.
True. Personally I've settled with stock Google image since 4.1.1 came out and I use my spare time elsewhere then OCD'ing over "omg new nightly". Using the phone can be more fun.

In hopes of finding someone who's facing a similar problem, I'd like to ask you about a certain issue.
I've installed the Xperia Play Z Ultimate Edition rom on my Xplay r800i. It's running all cool and great, but there's one problem. The apps are closing for no reason. It's like, one moment you're playing a game, and all of a sudden the main screen appears, as if you pressed the home button, but the app is gone. It looks like they're crashing when the phone is under heavy load. It happens to literally everything. Even Messenger bubbles often disappear when there's a new heavy app starting.
I've searched the rom's thread, but didn't find any information about such problem.
If this matters, I've flashed the kernel that was supplied by rom creator - 480p DoomKernel.
This is the first rom I've seen which has an issue like that, and I don't think there's any alternative, as this is the only ICS rom I know that keeps all of Xplay's core features while significantly improving speed and functionality.
Please help. Does anyone know why this happens?
Update: out of frustration, I've changed to another ICS rom, Honami 2.1.3, together with switching to a Lupus V7 kernel (ram version)... and the same thing happens. Although with the new rom my phone's performance seems to have DRASTICALLY improved, apps are still closing for no reason. There's not even a popup or error, or anything like that - it just pulls the plug and suddenly kicks me to the main screen.
This problem renders heavy games literally UNPLAYABLE. It runs perfect for like 5 or 10 minutes, with high framerate even, then out of a sudden BAM - back to the main screen. No error, no nothing.
Browsing around Lupus settings I've found something called Low Memory Killer. From what I understand, this thing kills the apps when the device is on critically low memory. Maybe this is the cause? And if it is, why the heck is it "going rogue" and killing apps that I'm ACTIVELY USING? How do I configure this? I assume you can't just disable it...

Switched to YET ANOTHER rom and kernel - Nexplay, with bundled Lupus kernel, this time also changing the firmware to R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Enhanced. With this one, the phone runs definitely the fastest, but guess what... same thing happens as before. Games commit suicide when played for too long. Out of all I've tested, the only ones that don't shut down are OpenTyrian and Nes emulator. Gun Bros worked fine for like 5 minutes, and suddenly closed, working very slow for like 2 seconds before it happened. Same thing with Vendetta Online but this one outright REBOOTED THE PHONE! And these games supposedly are optimized for xplay, so it doesn't make any sense why there's such a problem going on...
I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's because I'm using ICS roms? But then, I've never seen anybody reporting such problems with ANY rom. This definitely isn't a common issue. I'm also using Link2SD, but again, I've never seen anyone mentioning it causing anything like that.
I can relate to your problem. I've experienced the same (apps randomly closing while in use) issues 1 or 2 years ago and to me the development on these roms are dead since the developers have moved onto newer devices. Currently my xperia play is dead (bricked) however with experience of using many of the roms i can safely say that ICS is not meant for the xperia play. Sony themselves didn't officially release ICS for this device due to the number of bugs and problems associated with it. I'd recommend you to use GB roms to bring out the best potential of your device. ICS lags some way or another whereas GB doesn't. All games run smooth on Gingerbread and they certainly do not have issues like ICS does. The best rom for this device is Gin2kitkat ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631144 ) and my personal favourite Xperia NXT 2 r1 (i've used this rom the longest). From experience, as long as you use a Gingerbread rom you should be good to go as they are the most stable for our device. Good luck
Aaw, that's a real bummer. The problem with GB roms is that there's a lot of ICS apps and games that I really need. One of the main reasons I've decided to unlock bootloader on this device is because I wanted to get an upgrade to ICS. It's really strange. I've seen people play advanced games on this phone (example) and there are no signs of problems such as the one I'm experiencing.

Btw, what do you think about NXT Gaming rom? I don't care much about flashy UI and widgets, and as long as everything in the phone works (camera, xLoud etc.) priority for me is gaming performance, and from description, this rom seems to be the most aggresive I've seen when it comes for optimizing performance for games.
I agree, from the vid the user is seen to be running the ROM "ICS Ultimate". Also i haven't tried the NXT gaming rom only the NXT 2r1 but regardless, with that rom i've been able to play emulator games and heavy intensive games such as Fifa 2012. I'd only imagine the 'NXT Gaming rom' is faster and better but since i haven't tried it, i'm unable to give you a direct response, sorry. Anyways Gingerbread will always be the best in terms of gaming performance and functionality, but if you're able to find a good ICS rom that is smooth when playing games such as GTA then it's entirely up to you whether you want to stay on ICS or not. Also correct me if i'm wrong but i remember GTA3 (not san andreas) being playable on gingerbread.
Correct, GTA3 DOES work on Gingerbread, but unfortunately only this one and Vice City do so. GTA San Andreas and Chinatown Wars will not work on anything lower than ICS. This is an example anyway, cuz there are few more things that I need and will work only on ICS.
Anyways, guess what. I've tried YET another Rom from a portuguese site (rom is Fusion ICS 2.4), and the problem stopped - apps no longer spontaneously shut down. There's another problem though... as this system is ridiculously unstable. Sometimes it's fast as lightning, then sometimes it slows down to a crawl for no reason - it has nothing to do with active apps; it often happens with no active apps running and with tons of free ram available. It's completely random. Even the interface sometimes crashes for no reason. Curiously though, all games run extremely fast and they never shut down on their own. Unfortunately, it's not worth using such a train wreck. Games running well while the rest of the system goes haywire defeats the purpose for me.
I'd give "ICS Ultimate" rom a try, but for some reason, I get virus alerts when trying to download or open the file. I guess I'll either wait until it's confirmed false alert, or go for GB roms finally.

I may get teased a little bit for this one - but I am a bit of a traditionalist. Even as an IT guy, I tend to shy away from custom, enhanced or otherwise modified ISOs of windows. Not because I am afraid of them... I just like the "stock" look. I would like to stick to the same thing on my phone.
I am still running the stock version of my ATT firmware, 4.x.x. I like it just fine, and it suits my needs for the most part - (Other than the ATT bloatware that crashes constantly for several minutes upon reboot)
However, my device is beginning to slow down and I find myself using Chrome more and more because the older stock browser does not seem to want to render some sites very well. I expect it is only a matter of time before I start running into "sorry, you cannot run this app" type of issues.
So on to my questions....
1. Will upgrading to 6.x or 7.x improve the performance on my device?
2. If so, I see there are a ton of apps to choose from. Is there one specifically that is "less modified" or at least enables some sort of "gotta-have-it" functionality?
3. Can you elaborate on why you chose to move from the stock rom? I understand there are alot of "testers" on this forum who like to play with things. However, my phone is used heavily for work purposes. Simplicity and Stability remain key drivers for me.
Changing to a custom ROM may improve some areas of performance while decreasing in others such as battery life, camera, and stability.
By apps, I assume you mean roms. I can't make any recommendations as I have not had a note 2 for a few years but I have found that custom ROMs based off a stock rom are pretty stable. I always like to start with a very bare-bones ROM and add functionality via apps as needed.
I have moved to custom ROMs in the past when apps won't run on the phone's stock rom.
I've run my note 2 on DN3 for a number of years. You can still find a link to the thread in this forum and you will need to root your n2.
Not hard. 1 advantage is you can remove the bloat and it's still a rom that runs well on our device since it was built for our device in it's prime.
