[Bricked] Redmi 6 pro - Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all stupidity darwin for me today
I bought the phone from Ebay , it booted on miui unlocked so I said cool in my head, I went ahead and flashed twrp it said encrypted, I said format and I flashed Xiaomi.eu on it .
Now I end up with a locked bootloader, no access to twrp don't know why. Access to fast fastboot but can't use it. Apparently I can use fast boot to go to edl but I can't flash Chinese roms through it I'm a bit confused ... I'm using Samsung devices for the moment and my last Xiaomi devices was redmi 3 (so the security was really relax) . So what can I try ?
Envoyé de mon SM-N935F en utilisant Tapatalk

reunlock the bootloader, if you cant unlock it send it back to the ebay seller and ask them to reunlock it

I ended up unbricking it but it was really a pain, so here is what I did,
I had to dismantle it, shortcut the pins two pins to enter in EDL mode (Multiple articles on the web to do it, https://www.mobilerdx.com/2018/09/xiaomi-redmi-6-pro-test-point-boot-into-edl-9008-mode.html)
I tried Mi-Flash, had to have an authenticated mi-account, which nearly nobody have.
So I searched on miui forum and a lot of people are blocked and are sending desperate messages to Xiaomi and their service centers.
A modo on the forum wrote that a Vietnamese guru can take control of your PC and use his account trough TeamViewer, that smelled like a big joke, but I was enough desperate to test.... AND IT worked.
So SUCCESS (for 25$ super expensive, here is the page --> https://www.facebook.com/SUnlockGlobal/ ) but try everything before because multiple brick can be fixed with other ways.
I thing that,it is really revolting to block the emergency download mode. It isn't normal to block it for a "geek's friendly" brand or for any brands because independent technicians can't unbrick devices...
(Sorry for the way of writing french people are not the best in English)

Mi5s Plus bootloader unlock problem

Wondering if anyone is able to help me.
Recently purchased a MI5S Plus and having problems unlocking the bootloader. Followed all instructions and the unlock fails at 50% with the tool stating that "the account on the device is different than current account" (or something like that).
Now here's what I have done so far:
-made sure device and tool are using the same account with phone number login
-made sure "find device" is turned on and phone can be found
-disabled windows 10 driver signature
-enabled usb debugging on the device
-made sure sim card is in slot 1 of device
So far no dice. Phone is on Global Stable (8.0.1.0) but I wanted to move to EU version (which also has the correct UK locale and some other features). I am not new to the rom flashing scene (just moved from iOS to android and had a Galaxy S2 back in the day).
If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. No idea what else to try.
Best regards

I'll check it out. If it helps I'm willing to try it. What location did you use?
I didn't change anything just use it by default...

I think what this means is that your phone is associated to a mi account different than the one you have logged in to unlock it. Make sure your phone has the same mi account as the one you are using to unlock it.
Good luck!!

Yes it's the same account in both places. I double checked that.

Hi, I will share some of my experience.
Myself had that problem too, bought mi5s plus on global 8.x.x and wanted to move to eu version . The problem with this phone is that there's no global dev rom for it just yet, and you can't officially flash the china dev rom, since the installer doesn't recognize the package. So you find yourself in kind of loop, like
==> to open bootloader you need dev rom (only china available) :/
==> to flash china dev rom via mi flash you need to get your phone to EDM ( Emergency Download Mode ) .
But to get to EDM you need open bootloader.
That's kinda sucks, but i kept looking over the internet and found the overall solution that will probably work on any xiaomi device. And that's to make "Deep flash cable". This cable let's you enter EDM ignoring the locked bootloader, this way you can flash the china dev rom, and from there open the bootloader.
The idea is really simple, just need to shortcut any of the middle connectors of the usb with the ground(the outter connector) when plugging the phone into the pc(don't even need to cut the original usb cable), that will prevent the phone from starting to charge and it will enter EDM (pure black screen without any sign of life, but pc will recognize it on COM port as long as you have qualcomm drivers installed.) In this mode the mi flash tool will recognize the phone and you can flash the china dev rom.
If you need more help just ask, and u can find some nice guides on youtube that explain how to make the cable. Good luck!

Ah damn. Hardware route is gonna be a problem. So why are some people have to unlock the bootloader on global stable and some are not?

Thanks makslll, I have mi5s, wondering if the process is different?
I bought my phone with the xiaomi.eu rom (8.0.10.0 MAGCNDH), unlocked bootloader with "MiFlashUnlock_1.1.0317.1_en" and installed recovery following this (https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-12-1.36462/). After this I was able to install other ROMs .
Hope this helps

Main problem I'm getting at the moment is the fact I can't get past the 50% on the unlock process. Keeps giving me an account error on the Mi Flash unlock tool. Something like "Account on the device is different from current account".
In any case I was looking at this EDL solution but let me see if I grasped this:
-I can use EDL to bypass locked bootloader restrictions. Could I just flash the EU rom without unlocking the bootloader?
-That not being the case, I'm guessing I would need to flash something like China Dev and the try and unlock the bootloader followed by TWRP flash, etc etc.
If someone could shed any light on this that would be great.
Thanks in advance

Thanks will give this a bash later on after first trying to factory reset the phone.
Thing is I read about a lot of people being successful unlocking their bootloader on Global Stable rom, so no idea why I can't do it. Pretty sure I have all the necessary drivers and I'm following the process as it should. Still getting the account error.
Xiaomi should sort their **** out...
Thanks everyone for your help!

You can't flash Eu ROM with locked bootloader, since you need to use special image files of the supported roms for miflash (Can't use the .zip roms that we flash via recovery), and those available only for the official roms ( global stable, china stable, china dev).
So yeah, unfortunally this would take little longer, but i can assure you this method 100% works and it's not very hard once you've done the tricky thing with the deep flash cable =)

I will probably grab a cable from Aliexpress. Reviews seem to be ok:

Will let you know when it arrives and if it works.
On another note, if a Global Dev rom is released for the Mi5S Plus, are you able to flash it as normal through the updater app?
Best regards

Yes, on my gf's mi5 i just flashed global dev rom from the updater and unlocked it easy, they really should just remove the global <==> china barrier
Update: there is official Global Dev ROM available now, so no "deep flash cable" is needed anymore, just download the ROM, copy it to phone memory, and flash it via updater, good luck =)
So, quick update.
Managed to unlock bootloader last night by updating to the new Global Dev for the Mi5S Plus.
However a new problem has arisen, as usual. Using ADB, it recognises the phone whilst in normal mode with USB debugging on. The moment I reboot it into fastboot mode (to flash TWRP), it doesn't recognise it anymore. The drivers are installed as I disabled windows driver signature verification, but the phone is just not recognised anymore.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Bricked chinese Redmi Note 5, with global rom and locked bootloader

Hello guys,Well most of the problem is in title, but what i exactly have done.
I bought this smarthone (Redmi note 5 PRO(whyred)--Snapdragon 636, 4gb ram, 64gb) in very good price on our Polisz e-commerce page. I knew that its chinese phone brought to poland but with installed global ROM, but i didnt know that if i lock it will get bricked.
I locked it in fasbootmode with "Minimal adb and fasboot" from pc. I have tried a lot of things but only once succesfully flashed something and it was form here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...ial-unbrick-harddricked-whyred-t3840687/page3
But still didnt work. The most of my flash tries was in edl mode.
I was thinking about buying destroyed one and replece the motherboard of course not by my self, but i dont know if there will be a problem with that this is a chinese phone and replace it with global parts. Im sorry if it doesnt make sense.
I will be thankfull if someone here help me with that and tell what can i do.
And sorry for my english...
So how is bricked? It won't boot anymore?

Hey guys,
Seems I'm not the only one that has bricked his device accidentally xD
In my case, I was flashing an update of xiaomi.eu when the installation failed. I tried rebooting to recovery in order to try again flashing, but I couldn't access my recovery again.
Since then, it boots directly to EDL, without the need to do testpoint.
If anyone wants to manually boot into EDL via testpoint, this video may help you:
(personally, I haven't opened my phone as I don't have the proper tools & experience for that. Even more, do NOT open your device. Otherwise, say "goodbye" to your warranty.)
I see no logo, I cannot reach fastboot nor nothing.
I have tried to flash using MiFlash, and it detects the device!
You have to download a fastboot package, not a recovery package (see mifirm.net).
I've tried with MIUI 12 (both Q and R) fastboot packages and I get weird Sahara errors.
With a MIUI 11 fastboot package, that error is gone. However, I cannot procceed to install as it's forbidden for common users like us to flash our phones in EDL mode. So it says to me that my Mi account is not authorized for this opperation.
My advice (it's what I'm going to do) is to contact to your seller, or directly to Xiaomi, and try to manage the warranty. If you were on MIUI (like me), we should be protected by the warranty. If not, you'll have to finance your reparation.
This turns me off intensely, as EDL should be totally free for us. In my old LG G4, I've flashed in EDL via QFIL many times, and it's not that risky as long as you have the proper files (which we have). In this way, Xiaomi is generating a bad fame & more work to their reparation centers, as we will have to send our hard-bricked phones there.
I've seen also some online services that either sells authorized Mi accounts for EDL, or that log in with a verified Mi account in your PC via TeamViewer to bypass that verification.
Sincerly, I'm not thinking in paying 30$ for something that should me free for us, so I cannot recommend this for now...
I will update my situation in future posts here. Until I get my K30 5G back with live, my development for this device will be stopped.
Good luck to everyone!

Warranty doesn't protect me in Spain as this phone is only sold officially in China...
I could either contact my eBay seller or contact with someone of those authorized EDL accounts.
I finally had to contact a man with an authorized account, and pay my own reparation (25€).
Idk if it's allowed in xda to share the TG nickname of that man as it can be considered as "spam" of a service.
Talk me to TG if you wanna know more details.
But yes guys, we still have a solution to our bricked phones! Mine revived in 15 minutes

Mine is not bricked. I am glad to see that you found a solution for not much money.
We all know the risk we face when buying China only phones, but the price for the performance is always very tempting.

Redmi Note 8T EDL mode - help needed.

Hello there
my Redmi Note 8T is in EDL mode after an unsuccessful update to 11.0.11.0. Is there any way to get this solved? I'm in germany, so there is no service center.
Thank you in advance! :fingers-crossed:
If you can not boot into fastboot, I mean if you stock with a turned off phone, (just like a dead phone) there is no way to recover it but using an authorized account (with is an special account possessed by Xiaomi Service Centers).
I was left with an absolutely turned off phone, and the Xiaomi service center refused to recover it due to the having no warranty paper, so I found a guy who possess the account, and he recovered it for me for 20€.
Even in internet there is guys who claim that they are able to recover your phone via TeamViewer or so, but I couldn't trust them since they ask you to pay the money (~30€) at first.
You can also buy such an account from websites like S-UNLOCK.
(At your own risk ) (price: ~35€)
Don't lose your hope.
P.S. if your phone still turns on and boot into fastboot (you can see the logo) you can easily manage to recover it by yourself.

hello sz.hatef,
thank you for your reply
I've contacted Xiaomi support and they linked me to a service center in Flensburg (Ingram Micro Services). Let's see if they can do it. I'm still in the 2-year warranty I will post an update of the result. If it's not successful, is it possible to get connected to *your* guy?

Recover bricked Mi 10T

Hello, does anyone know if it is possible to reflash a bricked Mi 10T Lite. It boots into Fastboot mode, but bootloader is locked.
That was be very hard. Firs way it to risk 10,15e and go to mi community ,I can give you person who can flash your ROM with authorized account..
The other way is to open back cover and EDL point. To be able to get connection between PC and Mi flash tools..
Try to do some research and in mean while I will try find this contract with authorized and send you Pm.
The third thing is service centar but I did recommended you.. they will literally restore you phone and in the end they will do.
I bad have bad experience.
So I seat ,two weeks exploring and if you read carefully, you will learn and fix your phone.
