Is there any way to convert the Dual Version into a Single Version? I want to try MIUI ROM but that is only available on Single Sim versions and won't work on Dual SIM (won't be able to get any signal)

When I bought the XT1789-06, I thought it's a dual SIM version, since there is a lot of webs with specifications for XT1789-06 saying it is dual SIM.
But it looks like XT1789-06 can be both. Dual SIM and also single SIM. Mine is, unfortunately, single SIM, so I am thinking how to change it. The SIM slot inside the phone has pins for two sim cards. Problem is that the tray holder is only for one sim and one micro sd card. So I am thinking to buy a tray holder for two sim cards. The question is if I would also have to change the ROM? For which version?

done, converted from ss to dual sim
1.backup sda from TWRP terminal
dd if=/dev/block/ada of=/sdcard/sda
2.flash file from twrp

only IMEI on sim#1
IMEI#0 on sim#2
but it;s not affect for voice call/ data connection

for signal, ive knly tested for few hours, voz i need the sdcard more than sim2 lol
I flashed AEX 4.6 to my Dual Sim phone, but it detects only one Sim plz Help, I want to convert it to Dual sim as it is very good ROM... Even all other Roms are also Single Sim..
At last I have found the solution...
I know A70 is dual SIM. However my 705W variant only has a 1 SIM slot. The 2nd SIM slot tray is covered with a plastic. If I switch my SIM tray with a 2 SIM tray will my phone become dual sim?

yes you could try grarak modified lineage OS build which unlocked the 2st sim card slot , but you could have bands related problems.

But even if it's unlocked via software, can it work without hardware modifications? I mean, do single sim models have a second sim reader inside?
You are asking about hardware modification.
Maybe you can get one of those microsd card + simcard combo module from alibaba.
Couple with it modified firmware, and maybe it would be possible
