Which ROMs retain VoLTE? - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

I'm guessing this has been discussed plenty of times but as someone who just picked up one of these, there a lot of old threads to go through.
I was hoping to load a open source custom rom but it seems that will disable VoLTE which I really need. Is this still the case? can a binary zip be flashed over LOS or something to enable it?
or is it only stock based roms?
either way what are my best options to consider for this phone and retain VoLTE in 2019?
I usually run LOS and MicroG and get most apps off FDroid.
Thanks!

That one seems to have VOLTE in the settings. I don't know if it's working as intended though. I just know that it's there and can be enabled/disabled.

I am not sure if there is any lineage os based roms with volte. The lineage 16 dev for this device said it uses proprietary Samsung drivers to enable volte, and therefore would take a lot of work if I am not mistaken.

[SOLVED] To port IMS Manager to KLTE

I want to port/build IMS Manager for getting VoLTE feature on klte (LineageOS 14.1) but there is no guide on XDA, YouTube or even on google search... There are even VoLTE patches for Mi, Moto and Yu devices. Please help me to build it as I don't even know where to start after getting sources... Thanks in advance! ?
Update:
Found VoLTE rom for S5 (snapdragon variants) https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-s7ux-pure-stock-t3505699
So you are aware IMS manager is that, a Manager, it doesn't effect your IMS functionality. Furthermore, LineageOS doesn't currently have native VoLTE functionality afaik. IMS manager is a samsung app for the samsung system, you'd better bug the Lineage Dev's for a tool for manipulating the IMS settings in LineageOS and more so bug them to implement VoLTE, however this comes at a risk as it can interfere with 911 Functionality and as such could pose libaility they wish to not deal with
Pls help him, I need VoLTE, too
If you need another similar to stock android 32 bit chip set ROM with ims manager, I could suggest you download wind7 ls 5016 firmware(snapdragon 210 with marshmallow). It might help you. Please try.

Bro you saw my above comment?
Have you made any progress on this? I've had a look at this in latest lineageos and on Galaxy s6. Though I think the basic idea is the same. The ImsManager is part of lineageos Rom. Though it needs a ims service. If that is not available even if you enable volte or WiFi calling over build.properties it will not work.
So to my (limited) knowledge, the first thing one would have to do is provide an implementation of that service. I think in Stock Galaxy s6 that is provided in imsservice.apk that comes in /system/priv-apps. I've attached the version of stock s6. Though I'm unable to use that since it's signature is not accepted and I'm neither able to decompile nor to resign /zipalign the package.
Any ideas? Or is this an all wrong way I'm following?

I didn't had to port IMS Manager to lineageos or any rom. And instead I tested the above specified rom, it's for SM-G900F but I flashed it on SM-G900W8 and SM-G900T. After flashing and booting up for the first time, I got VoLTE running on both devices without even changing a setting. Keep in mind that the rom have 3 bugs, SystemUI crashes when you get a notification from WhatsApp, You cannot disable the lockscreen, If you change lockscreen from swipe to something else and lock the screen, you won't be able to unlock the device. Then you'll need to factory reset/flash the rom again or have to manually remove lock using TWRP. I am switching to a different operator next week, I am tired of the battle for VoLTE. Hope it helps.

Looking for a ROM

As it appears StatixOS is going to no longer be maintained for whatever reason, I'm stuck with a soon to be outdated ROM on my, to me, expensive phone. So I have a simple question...
What ROMs are there for this phone? I'm aware there are some that aren't listed here, but I'm looking for one with the same features as Statix (plus some other features). I'd also prefer it if the ROM were official, as that tells me it's receiving proper support and likely won't be dropped for some time.

Stock is so good now days that a custom rom is not needed anymore.
Use the stock rom with a custom kernel and you can find find a few addons to your liking.

Unfortunately I don't find that to be the case - the stock ROM doesn't offer the options that I like, such as navbar/statusbar cust., custom fonts, and precise DPI control, among others. Addons and third party apps can accomplish a lot of it, but very imperfectly, being more prone to bugs and issues than the same feature built into the ROM itself.
After having given Bootleggers ROM a try, I was VERY unimpressed, running into issues with it just minutes after booting and, even later after setting some things up, facing frozen apps, UX not responding properly and some rather suspicious activity (such as it somehow knowing what email I originally logged into my phone with, despite doing MULTIPLE full system wipes prior to install and being the ONLY custom ROM that triggered a "Severe security alert" from google upon trying to sign in), I've decided to stick with StatixOS until the LineageOS devs get off their butts and make an official ROM for this phone, as the unofficial one doesn't support eSIM which is required for Google Fi. StatixOS has the features I want, it's actually stable unlike Bootleggers "stable" build, and GPay works on it.
Note that my gripes with Bootleggers and the unofficial LineageOS are not meant to say you're not working hard at making a ROM - it's entirely a subjective review, and as a ROM enthusiast I understand the time and effort that goes into making a ROM even run partially right.
Have you tried Dirty Unicorns?
Or stock with edxposed and GravityBox (this is what I am currently using and it has been working perfectly for the last 2 months)?
How do you get GPay to work on StatixOS, I have tried using Magisk hide but it still detects root?

It may be an isolated case, but I had all google play services modules hidden along with google pay and other google apps (just in case they talk to each other), along with the safety patch module from magisk.

I'm using the latest DU official for bonito right now, and at first everything was working wonderfully - except Google Fi is running into some issues on it where I can't send messages or make calls without being connected to wifi or enabling mobile data. I might reflash Statix, or I might just live with having to keep mobile data on when I'm not at home or work until they patch it up.

No custom rom support for this device?

Is the device hard to work on or it just lacks support? There only seems to be one rom available long time now.
Theres currently lineage and aosp.
But the difference of roms for this device compared to other devices is the problem with GSI.
It requires devs to know how to build gsi roms based off phh modifications. Not to mention kernel changes and including the correct vendor partitions to play nice with the phh roms.
Not many devs in the g7 forum, i personally have nothing to work on since i dont like to build with no actual device to test since my G7 is bootloader locked.

Almost no work is needed for GSI support. If you want to install any GSIs just check out the "how to install pie" tutorial. The second part covers it.
The idea of GSIs is that it works with treble to work on any treble enabled phone. It's already build and the last thing left to do is to make sure it works. Thankfully only some small modifications were needed to get it to work

Lol if only it was that easy but with most of these phones they all need work.. phh has been adding support for most phones as he continues to update his work.
LG blobs arent very common, they will need work especially the video lag and possibly non working data or wifi.
Download the RR arm64 gsi and let me know if it fully works.

I'm 99% sure that the old versions work. I had it myself.
There's no need to rework wifi or data. It just works. LG had made their treble support pretty good. The only things that do not work is the LED and a 0.5 black screen bug after an unlock
There's no video lag.

Phh aosp might work out of the box. Otherwise I've used LOS 17.1 (from this forum) and it can be made to work with nfc on global vendor, but that's not supported by the dev.
The reason most roms here don't have NFC is that most of the devs are from india, so they use the indian vendor; but the indian hardware doesn't have nfc (so the nfc stack is most likely missing from their supported vendor image).
I think to stop confusion these current custom ROMs should be marked as Begoniain only...
Once a ROM is out that has all the features of Begonia like NFC etc then it can be marked that...

I'm not so sure about that. The ROMs themselves have the features (except for some broken configs here and there). Just the devs won't "support" global. If I had experience doing any android-related dev work and the time&patience to deal with some of the demanding users around here, I'd have "supported" global rom for LOS 17.1. Maybe some money incentive on some of the experienced devs here would help? I mean, people usually pay for support on open-source projects.
Otherwise, I've put in nearly a hundred hours of "research" into this phone and you can read my posts on the LOS thread on how to get the other things working. It's more like things need a simple patch here and there (but some, like hotspot, do need a rebuild, I think); there's no need a completely new ROM.
Yes. Some GSI support nfc. For example I have working nfc on havoc 2.9 GSI official.

Minimalist ROM with microG support advice?

Dear all LG G7 users, I would like to create this thread to discuss about ways of using LG G7 with all the basic features working and without Google Apps and Services.
I have a EU G7 with latest firmware and updates (Android 10) This is what I am looking for:
Working USB Tethering Hotspot and WiFi hotspot
Working Gcam
Working Bank Apps
Working microG
Good GPS signal
AOD - Always On Display (if possible)
DT2W - Double Tap to Wake (if possible)
I see there are a few ROMs like LineageOS 18.1, Dot 5, and others. But I am unsure of which one offers the stability I am looking for (not customization). It is ok to use Android 10.
I have downloaded the file from LG to unlock my bootloader, so I am ready my goal is to get rid of Google, and I am aware that with stock rom, even if I like it, it is not possible.
Thanks in advance for everyone who will join the discussion.

I thought custom ROMs based on Android 11 did not have USB tethering. So not even Android 10 based custom ROMs have it? That's strange that a paid app like PDANET allows USB tethering

Because the app itself allow it through their own method. its not using android's implementation. And no, not even android 10 roms have it working on g7
Hi there, I am still here, trying to find a way of minimizing the Google impact in the stock ROM.
Could someone please update me if a custom rom has USB tethering working? And if the answer is still a big NO, is there a way to debloat or degoogle the stock rom via unlocking bootloader and root? Ideally I would love to replace Play Services with microG, or at least remove Play Services while keeping the phone booting. Any advices are appreciated.
EDIT: seems like this is a viable option for me, anyone tried? : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-degoogle-any-device-and-install-microg.4058743/
For other searching here: I just installed AOSPK from Emanuel (telegram group) and it is Android 12 based. Here USB-Tethering works out of the box and the ROM does support signature spoofing so microg can be used right away.
