Simple root and flash question - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Just moved form unlocked and rooted Mi Max 2, the boot loader of my Mi Max 3 is unlocked running Global stable 10.3.1.0 stable (PEDMIXM). Question: can I just install official TWRP (https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimimax3.html) and flash modded Global from https://mi-globe.com/ without any risk. Just hate to brick it
Seems like an easy way to root and mod.
Thanks in advance

Hmm, well hopefully someone more experienced will answer, but...
Globe ROM is based on miui.eu, who themselves remove ARB (anti roll back), at least as far as I'm aware. This shouldn't matter though, I'm assuming, as you'll be flashing newer firmware/vendor etc than what's on your device currently. See here for more info
As for TWRP, I'm not sure, I'm currently awaiting delivery of my mi max 3 so cannot say much more on the subject, but have been reading a bit about it, plus I have other Xiaomi devices that have run Globe ROM in the past. Sorry if it's all a bit vague, like I say, hopefully someone more experienced will step in and assist you. But that should give you a bit of assistance and some further reading!!
Also see here for further info on ARB of your ROM

Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes ARB is probably the root of my worries. Flashed the hell out of my Mi Max 2 without issues but as I said I'd hate to brick it so soon. I'll update the thread with my progress.
Again thanks so much for the info.:good:

For me twrp only worked once and only once and then i bricked it. After that i bricked and can never go back by fastboot TWRP again. Now every time i boot to TWRP, it goes to black screen with backlight lit.
What i don't get is how other devices like Redmi 5 Note Pro, Mi 8 can get twrp to work if they are also on the list like Mi Max 3 for the recent Anti Rollback.

I ALSO have the same question ,
I didnt unlock the bootloader yet but i want first to know is it safe to root this device i read many users saying the antiroll **** is causing bricking the device .
If anyone can tell us a detailed guideline or steps to how to root the device for the average non advanced users like us ,

the following:
to be on the safe side use fastboot boot recovery-image-name do your stuff and boot via stock recovery when you don't need twrp specifically
like this you can avoid issues with encryption
if you don't want that you can make sure that you get a version of twrp that has no issues with decryption.
if you upgrade API version, i.e. Oreo > PIE, only do that if you don't intend to roll back to oreo
unlocking the bootloader and rooting are straight forward and no different than for any other device, what has basically changed recently is
A/B partitioning as well as recoveries mostly being in boot (no separate recovery partition for most devices) and that encryption scheme
has changed in a way that twrp without tweaks (original) has issues with decryption.
i use other than this A/B devices like OP6, OP6T and one simply has to be careful and not just flash away, thins got less forgiving
but work nevertheless once executed correctly.
if you want TWRP permanently you'd have to flash the twrp zip via fastboot boot twrp.img or fastboot flash twrp.img (not mandatory) boot into twrp if you flashed and flash twrp.zip, boot into recovery first and directly and there you go until you flash a new system things are quite stable if you choose your variant of twrp carefully.

Let me be the first to ask a complete noob question.
I bought a Mi5s a couple of months ago and loved the phone. However, Miui 8 is becoming somewhat of a annoyance for me. I flsahed the global ROM by making an EDL cable, pretty straight forward. But i'm still missing the stock android experience I had with my nexus 5. Today I saw that Lineage OS is being developed for the Mi5s and when this becomes more stable I really would like to try it.
My question is, where do I get started.
I know ik need to request to unlock my bootloader (I did a couple of days ago) and that I then need to somehow install TWRP. But thats it. Is there a manual I can use or at least read to better understand how the process works and what I need to do?
Thank you very much
p.s. I read a lot of stuff about the mi5 and how to flash it but i'm wondering if the process is the same since the Lineage OS 14.1 is ported and unofficial.
Noob question here too, loving the phone, battery life is amazing after samsung s4 lol.
I read on i guess xiaomi.eu forums not to wipe system partition on twrp. I was always wiping system ( i was just leaving sd and internal and wipe anything else.) So, i shouldn't wipe system on mi5s?

Hi
First of all, I agree totally that MiUi gets a crappy feel after you get used to it and start missing the old vanilla Android. Also, yes. You need to send an unlock request for unlocking your device. Refer to an unlock thread or wait if there's no thread yet. Somebody will eventually make a thread regarding this unlocking and flashing TWRP thingy (mostly me). And unlocking ain't gonna void your warranty, so all good. I don't think that Unlocking the BL is the hard part. You've just gotta apply for permission on their site with a good reason why you wanna unlock it and all. Flashing TWRP and rooting- here comes the fishy part. You can't just flash any TWRP on any device (unless you are that stupid). So wait till a proper thread has been posted about this topic. I would suggest you to go ahead and unlock the device. And also, no question is a noob question. I just named the thread like this so it sounds better. XDA is an open community built with the sole purpose of helping techy-brains all over the world.

Thanks for your reply. I got my unlocking permissions but when I try to unlock with the unlocking tool I get an error that the mi phone isn't connected. On the Miui forum I read a couple of different ways to unlock the device. One of 'm stated you can unlock it on Globa Stable but you have to enter your Mi account details under developer options/MuInlock. And if you can't find that option you have to use a developer rom. Problem is, there is no Global developer rom that is newer than the global. Can you help me?

All that about flashing developer ROM for unlocking is plain bull****. I unlocked mine on global stable 8.0.6.0 (my redmi note 3). If you have been getting errors unlocking the device, make sure you are following these steps correctly:
1. Update your Mi adb drivers.
2. Enable developer options in your phone, enable OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging (because 60% of people forget this step).
3. If you've got permission officially, wait for a week or so, because it needs time to get our name and Mi Account ID registered on their servers as they get up to hundreds of unlock requests per day.
4. After a week has passed, connect your phone to the PC and start the unlock tool. This time it will get unlocked successfully. I guarantee you that this method will work if you follow it exactly how I told you to. I have tested it myself and trust me, it works!
Do update me on what happens with your device. Best of Luck! May the servers be with you... LOL!

It worked!! The server's were strong ? It was a driver or device issue. I tried it on another laptop and it worked instantly. Thank you for your time and effort. On to the next step.
P.s. strange thing is I never received a text messages from Xiaomi that I could unlock but when logging in to the unlocking tool the check said my account had permissions to unlock. Whatever, it worked right.

So I have Mi5s , from gearbest, not changed anything on it, no rom or anything.., not sure how to do it, so I am using it the way it came... first question, what can I get if I change/update rom or anything like that ?
second. autofocus on video is really annoying and only reason to get this phone was camera and video... I see that on miui website , they still didnt get any answer for this problem, so maybe someone here can help me with that. All works ok if I use some other software and MANUAL mode, but its pain in the ass to adjust everything manual all the time.. so is there any solution to that or no ? global 8.2 stable

It will wipe the cust partition. I don't recommend it though if you want to go back to MIUI..
So I see "NOOB FRIENDLY THREAD". Sorry if my questions are too much noobish.
I just bought MI5S on aliexpress with installed international version of firmware on my phone. And I want to know how to start?
1) How to unlock everything (+root) + install TWRP + update to latest firmware + backup. Is there a guide for novices?
2) Do I need mi account? (I never user xiaomi phones before)
3) Do we have any stable unofiicial firmwares?
4) Is there a way to disable all xiaomi-related things?
Hi I have a Mi 5S plus.
Would like to root for using some programs (gmd, Autovoice, few others).
Not interested in trying new roms, and prefer a simple root, hoping that I can receive Xiaomi software updates without big problems.
Possible? Instructions??
Hi, maybe not much of a n00b question but didn't want to make a new thread for this little thing.
I own Mi5S since yesterday 3/64GB version and first issue i've noticed is that its getting hot really quick (battery sensor in settings shows 38'C) i know it has Snap 821 but still, making a phone call and feeling hot in hand. Sure, the aluminium back is transfering the heat but its not a pleasant feeling. Is that normal with this model ?

Hey experts,
I see a few questions pending, but I hope someone is gonna pick them up soon, and mine as well!
@sesser, mine does get a bit warm sometimes, but never to an uncomfortable level. Hard to say if you're more sensitive, or whether there's something wrong with your phone...
First a bit about my situation:
I bought the mi5s 3/64GB directly from the Xiaomi online store in China.
Unfortunately I dropped it within less then a month and now the 3 touch buttons are going crazy. Fingerprint scanner is still working fine though. I found a temporary fix with the apps "remap buttons" and "VirtualSoftKeys". But MIUI kills these apps all the time, so I have to re-enable them in settings/accessibility. Definitely not a long term solution!
I also managed to install the google play store. But it is unavailable quite frequently.
I'd like to install LineageOS as soon as there is a stable release. But until then, I hope to find a better solution than what I have now.
So here are my questions:
1) Does the MIUI.eu rom have any advantages over the Chinese version? For example I have quite a few system apps that are in Chinese. Would be nice to have them in English. Or getting the search bar in the notifications go to google.com... Or is there another stable rom you'd recommend instead? Or are the differences so small, that I should wait for LineageOS?
2) What reason should I tell Xiaomi for unlocking my phone? I read "My Mi5s came with a custom ROM. Please approve my unlock permissions so I can flash the official MIUI ROMs." But I don't think that works, as I bought mine straight from their website.
Thanks!

The newest lineageos version is very stable and bug free when you make a clean install with dynamic gapps

Has anyone successfully rooted the device?

Hi!.
Is bootloader unlocking and rooting a thing on this device?
I'm really curious if anyone has done it and how difficult it was
tbh you can unlock nubia device easy but the problem is no twrp and rom dev are into it..unless you search chinese forum for that..this nubia phone never ever in my life i buy ...and worst scenario no software updates only security patch thats it..i have red magic 3s global version and software is so crap and bugs..i have to flash cn rom

Well that's unfortunate because the 5S looks seriously polished since then. They've come a ways and this is the first time I've legitimately been considering Red Magic. It would be a shame if this phone didn't see any development.

the RM5G (nx659j) and the 5S (nx659j) both have the same hardware ID
the S comes with faster internal memory speed, ram, and an extra layer of Silver on the cooler.
otherwise basically the same device.
the 5G forums already have an excellent modded Kernel, and Have AOSP and LOS developers working on roms. once the 5S has a working TWRP it shouldn't be hard to use the 5G roms already in development.
also from personal experience, the 5S stock rom is quite solid. I've had my 5S for a few days now and tested a fair bit, so far so good. I've not experienced any of the bugs being mentioned on the 5G page. alot of the bugs that have been reported by the 5G users have been fixed on the 5S
If Nubia release all their sources for the phone, both kernel and drivers, it will be easy to port many roms to this device. with a few devs already on board doing work with the 5G I see the 5S doing well.

Has Nubia ever released both kernel and driver sources on previous phones before?
Edit: Guess I answered my own question, the z17 had a crap ton of development.
Thanks for all the insights guys!
I'll wait and see how it plays out first, I jumped the gun before and went with huawei thinking project treble and all would mean much easier and faster development but you can see how that played out....
It's 700$ too much to buy a device that's potentially without source code or development - or even worse another huawei x.x

From what I understand, Mattofthedead, the developer for the 5G OC kernel helped with a crowd fund to get a lineage developer to help with getting lineage on the phone. they're soon to release the first version.
Once a working lineage rom is made and released it will be the base for literally every AOSP rom. meaning this phone is going to get alot of support.

Honestly that would be great, I've been watching phones for a long time and truthfully if the OP 8T doesn't beat this phone out in a fair amount of ways then this phone is surely one of the absolute best ones you can get in the year of the SD 865... Definitely worth consideration for an upgrade. However you're also having to look at the fact that A LOT of upper tier specs and performance features are now leaking down to a ton of mid rangers, for example high refresh rate, large battery capacity, bezeless displays, better camera implementations, 5G accessibility... So to me that just signifies that maybe it might also be worth waiting for the SD 875 series??? I mean technology usually only gets more expensive right, but seems to me they're going to have less and less to offer as exclusively flagship and people just aren't going to dish out $1,000 every time they want a phone upgrade.

Waiting is totally up to you. I got one because my last phone was 6 years old.
a speed test done comparing stock OP8 and the RM5G with Matts Kernel, the RM5G smoked the OP8. antutu and other benchmarks.,
considering the 5S is a slight update to that hardware with better internals only means we'll get a slightly better speed than his 5G.
I picked this up mainly because it was the price of upper midrange phones now, but with specs of top tier flagships. (its basically a s20 ultra 5g without the camera) for less than half the price.
the 5S ROM version really did a great job fixing the errors reported by the 5G community, face unlock, UI bugs, Finger print senor all working quite well on the 5S. the gaming aspect of the phone too is really good, with modable trigger buttons, there is a option in the game mode of the phone to map the shoulder buttons to anything on the screen. so you dont have to tap over something that may block your view. to you can tap something that is hard to reach depending on the option (or for example move while aiming and shooting at the same time in FPS). its a fantastic feature.
I'm really happy with this phone and the next update (form looking at the speed increase of the current CN rom) its going to be a monster of a phone.
I used the old method and worked

i could tell you what i did to root my device, most likely differs from everyone else's ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the only thing i can surely tell you never ever fully unlock bootloader or you will have a nightmare with the fingerprint scanner calibration... like i am having
this is the code you should avoid to prevent the break of your fingerprint scanner fastboot flashing unlock

- You updated your OS in the latest version.
- You UNLOCK the developer option (setting>>about phone>>tap 7x the build number) and you switch ON the OEM unlocking & USB Debugging.
- You approved the RSA request in your red Magic 5s
Red magic 5s how to unlock bootloader
Connect the phone to computer, open cmd and go to where you have Minimal ADB and Fastboot then do the following steps
Code:
adb devices #make sure you see a device ex: 0123456789ABCDEF device
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices #make sure you see a device ex: 2e45f69f fastboot
a- if you do not see a device you will need to go into device manager and install the usb drivers
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J
PREP YOUR FILES:
once you downloads and extract Link #2 you will have 2 folders (images and MiFlash2020-3-14-0) make a folder called images1 and all the files that are found on images copy them to images1
by the end of these step you will have 3 folders (images, images1, MiFlash2020-3-14-0), images and images1 are exact copies of each other
from what you extract from Link #1
- you will find Magisk-v20.4.zip copy and paste it inside your adb folder
- you will find recovery-TWRP-3.4.1B-0324-NUBIA_REDMAGIC_5G-CN-wzsx150.img and vbmeta_BL_skip.img, copy and paste them to the location where you have (image, image1 and MiFlash2020-3-14-0)
rename recovery-TWRP-3.4.1B-0324-NUBIA_REDMAGIC_5G-CN-wzsx150.img to recovery.img
rename vbmeta_BL_skip.img to vbmeta.img
move the recently renamed recovery.img and vbmeta.img into images1 and replace the files.
HOW TO GET TWRP AND ROOT:
open the folder MiFlash2020-3-14-0 and then the application called XiaoMiFlash.exe in admin #ignore message "couldn't find flash script"
where it says select this is where you going to look for the image1 folder which contains the modded TWRP files #ignore message "couldn't find flash script " again
on you mobile device you should be on the bootloader, select the option Boot to edload #the screen will be black on the phone
back to the computer on the application XiaoMiFlash.exe, click refresh and you will see you device connected #if you don't see it make sure you have installed the Qualcomm drivers
click on flash and allow the system to process until you see a flash done!sucess! #the beauty of these step is that you also learn how to unbrick your device, you just will need to select image folder instead of image1
disconnect the mobile from the computer and on the mobile press the power button and hold it until you see a green notification light come up then let go the power button.
once the mobile boots up You UNLOCK the developer option (setting>>about phone>>tap 7x the build number) and you switch ON the OEM unlocking & USB Debugging.
open your cmd window and type:
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J
select option to reboot into recovery mode
since it is the first time you are running TWRP
It will reboot in TWRP twice, in the 2nd reboot it will stay in TWRP, change the language to English and select the keep read only.
Go to Wipe -> Format Data - type yes and click the check -> once that is done, click the back button until you are back into the main page
go into Advance -> ADB Sideload -> check Wipe Dalvik Cache and Wipe Cache -> then type
adb sideload Magisk-v20.4.zip #watch the magic happen, once done reboot System
you are done
A big thank you to you sir, with all these steps I would really need to spend some time and carefully follow each step so I would end up with a shiny new brick lol.
I have another question and forgive me for being such a noob, do you need to unlock the bootloader first before you can obtain root? and will I be able to use apps like Kingroot after I unlock the bootloader?
Once again, your help is greatly appreciated.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ never used kingroot, you could try it out - the above gives you the steps to revert back as well to factory settings by using the image folder
the above will leave you with permanent TWRP, which leads to this issue - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82272969&postcount=6 - from my perspective is a minimal thing

this is all very complicated and unnecessary for the 5S
Making sure you have the correct drivers installed for fastboot. and the steps are quite direct. you do need to wipe everything so backing up your internal data is reccommended. these steps do not unlock your bootloader.
I posted a short tutorial here with a zip with all needed files.

Is bootloader unlocking and rooting a thing on this device?
I'm really curious if anyone has done it and how difficult it was

It's really hard in this device by the way we will get any custom rom in future ??
Hahahaha fk me . I'm posting in the wrong thread.

Just bought a xiaomi mi 10t lite. Some questions...

Hello!!
As the title says, I have just bought a xaomi MI 10t lite. Absolutely wonderful phone in my opinion.
Always root my phones but simply consider skipping it this time.
But if I would like to do it anyway, I have some questions.
1. Is it difficult to root this device?
2. Which rum would you recommend? I want a fast phone that works well to play with. It does not matter if it takes a lot of batteries.
3. Read a bit and saw there were lots of tools. Which tools are best to use, it does not happen that xiaomi has been so forward-thinking that they create their own software to do this?
Have a good night my fellow geeks!
//knorrigbollen Sweden
Edit: sorry haven't learned to write on the phone yet so had to edit some spelling screw ups.
I haven't looked into rooting this device yet. I don't know how many rom's are currently developed for this phone but I would recommend xiaomi.eu stable rom.
The only hurdle is unlocking the bootloader, you need to use unlock tool provided by Xiaomi. The unlock tool comes with a wait time, I had to wait for about ~2 weeks before I could unlock but wait time can vary. After unlocking the bootloader it's pretty much basic adb procedures and install script's to flash a rom.
I'm just starting to look into TWRP for this device, looks like it's still being developed but should be ready to use.
Just check out the guide's you can find online during your unlock waiting time and you should be golden. Greetings from your neighbor ~FIN
Root only if its absolutely necessary
No rom for this device has been cooked yet, even in the future stick to stock rom for stablity and relaiblity.
Tools to use?
check XiaoMiTool & XiaomiADBFastbootTools
@Knorrigbollen
1. easy to root, just unlock the bootloader, patch stock boot.img from Magisk Manager and flash it in fastboot. No TWRP required (even if it's available).
2. stock ROM is nice, once you remove/block most of MIUI apps. No ads, no tracking, responsive, next to no bugs. Personally I see absolutely no reason to switch to another ROM, I appreciate included Google apps.
3. you need to use Xiaomi tool to unlock the bootloader (where you need to wait 2 weeks to be able to do that). You can use this nice GUI to "debloat" MIUI apps https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools, but standard Android fastboot/adb tools work very well.
Personally I'm loving the MIUI, it has some great features, they thought of a lot of little things. I too always root my devices but this time I have not. I would only do a basic root using Magisk/TWRP official when/if it comes out so that I can mod my apps/games and block ads etc.
Yes I agree you. I will also wait until Magisk or TWRP is released. In my case I want to get rid of some pre-installed system apps.

oh that is really good to hear!
Well I am back into android now for 1 month, I used to root back in 2017 my Huawei p9 lite and in 2015 my Samsung Galaxy S3. Now I dont know how to start with, cause my last phone was iPhone 7 (yea, shame on me; Jailbreak is nothing to compare with root). Is there a good step by step instruction of how to root my phone?
Thanks in advance; greetings from Germany and sorry for mistkaes in spelling.

My preferred way:
1. unlock the bootloader
2. patch your own boot.img (or use one from this topic https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/root-stock-and-magisk-patched-boot-images.4201597/)
3. hotboot patched boot.img and install Magisk from Magisk manager (this will create a backup of stock boot image, which will come in handy for OTA updates)
4. that's it
P.S. you will have two weeks waiting period for the bootloader unlocking, so plenty of time to read how Magisk/systemless mods work now

Not officially it's not. Until I see it listed as supported here: https://twrp.me/Devices/Xiaomi/ with reports of it being functional I'm not touching unofficial. I see reports on that one posted with various issues.

That's of course completely up to you. On my previous phones I had issues even with "official" TWRP which never got fixed. Unofficial or custom builds were usually more stable for me and obviously available much faster than the official build.
Anyway, the fact is, that Magisk is out since day 1 and TWRP was released unofficially recently, so anyone who want's to do some modding is free to go. TWRP for rooting is optional and I personally don't use it at all.

The TWRP looks weird but it's completely fine, used unofficial builds on most of my devices and they've been better than official ones. I get your point though
it should be official now..
I am in kind of same situation. I bought a mi10t lite from amazon, once it arrived home I noticed that it is vodafone brand with old miu and security version update..
I want an official europe version and block again the phone in order to have everything like original.
I applied for the xiaomi official unlock but it will take at least a week..
Any way to do it NOW ?
Thanks,
D.

Nope, none of the methods/tips for quick unlock are working, you just have to wait. Also I would advise to use the phone a little during the waiting time to avoid further delay in unlocking (I read many reports mentioning longer waiting times when they kept their phone in the drawer for the whole week).

Question Poco f3 bootloader unlock + custom rom

Hi everyone, I'm new to the community and I had few previous experiences with phone modding so I'm here to ask you some support. I'd like to unlock bootloader, root and maybe install a custom rom o just xiaomi.eu rom but I don't want to brick my phone. I don't know what disadvantages i get other than losing the warranty( i read something about banking apps and netflix). If someone could guide me or link to some detailed guide I'll be very grateful.
The first question about bootloader is do i lose data when i start the process of unlocking the first time and should pop up the error of 160hours? or i lose data only in the second "try" after 1 week?
As said i have a poco f3 8-256 if could be useful.
You won't lose data, at least in my case but just make a backup to be safe.
You can start here:
You can look at his other videos too about Poco F3. They are very helpful to me and it is in English.
I personally prefer xiaomi.eu ROM 12.5.19 gives me 700k AnTuTu, google apps, miui cam, good battery life, good gaming experience, game turbo, and debloated miui which is optimized for the phone.
Yes correct, your phone will only do a Factory Reset after the "2nd try", aka. when the bootloader gets actually unlocked.
On the 1st try, nothing happens with your phone, it'll just ask Xiaomi's servers to allow your Xiaomi Account to unlock the BL.
Munchy's videos (the video above that LynnnXDA linked) are a good starting point for info.
To give you useful info along the way, the other day I made a comment about the disadvantages of Unlocking your bootloader in this thread, I will copy&paste it here:
If you unlock your bootloader, you must be aware of the downsides. Some apps won't work (at least not without a workaround), like Banking apps, Netflix, Super Mario Kart, Google Pay.
That's cuz Google's SafetyNet API reports to those apps that the Security-Status of your phone is "Fail", because of the unlocked bootloader.
You can hide it with Custom ROMs that specifically list "SafetyNet passed" or by using Magisk Root with a SafetyNet Fix Module. Or Both idk whatever.
I use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM on Android 12 with Magisk Root. Everything works, but this stupid cat & mouse game with Google and Android Modders definitely sucks.

I also made another comment about the risk of bricking your phone when flashing a ROM, in this thread:
Critical partitions are being modified in the Flashing-process.
There is no protection.
If your phone shuts down during the Flashing-process, your phone can get bricked (black screen) and you can't even boot Fastboot & Recovery anymore. I know this. I have experience.
You must ensure that you have enough Battery (I recommend 75% Battery at least), that the USB connection is stable (will not disconnect randomly), and that your PC won't crash/shut down.
IF IT HAPPENS, that the Flashing-process errors out, DON'T REBOOT THE PHONE. If you do so, you won't be able to enter Fastboot anymore. You must stay in Fastboot. Just reconnect USB, and try again to Flash. Just don't reboot the phone.
Sorry for fear-mongering, but this is definitely dangerous and not to be taken lightly.

Despite the disadvantages (which might increase, because of Google fighting against it), there are some nice advantages, like being on the cutting edge ROMs with the latest updates, freedom, Access to system files, System-backup/restore, Call Recording (which may otherwise not be available for you), Cool Magisk Modules, Mods and other things...

The best drivers are included in Mi Flash, under the menu "Driver".
Before installing the drivers, I recommend starting Windows with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled.
Otherwise not all drivers get installed, because a few are not signed (They are safe to install though).
To temporarily start Windows with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled:
1. Hold SHIFT while clicking the Restart-Button
Windows automatically boots into Advanced Startup Options
2. Click "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Settings" > Restart
Windows boots into Startup Settings
3. Click 7 for "Disable driver signature enforcement"
Then when you're in Windows, you can install the drivers from Mi Flash.
Hi everyone, tomorrow i will unlock my bootloader and during this days I looked for some custom roms. First of all I want to ask you which are advantages and disadvantages of rooting the phone, I read about safetynet problem, and also some custom roms that are compatible with safetynet.
I'd like a stable rom but not stock like miui.eu, I was thinking something like lineageos or arrow os, what are the differences?
Hi All, what is best stable EU 12.5 rom for POCO F3 best better battery life?
Hi All, is it every time request unlock bootloader from xiaomi.com have to wait a week 7 days ??
@coolkillermax Yes, you have to wait.

Question help on rooting and flashing

Hey all, been out of the rooting for a long while now (not long after majisk first arrived on the scene on the scene (I think it was quite on and off at this point and still finding ways to get stable) and imagine a lot has changed. I now have F4 and looking to root and flash new ROMs again but have a few questions
1. Does having unlocked bootloader or custom kernels still lock you out of bank apps (Barclays particularly) and Netflix etc or are there ways to hide it again?
2. Titanium and CWM etc seem to not show as premium version paid anymore (don't know why as they were bought, maybe I've changed account or something or they have changed devs and originals defunct)? Is the best way to restore data and passwords etc after flashing using TB or are there better ways? Is there a how to somewhere to flick through after coming back after so long?
3. Is there a how to guide posted anywhere to come from completely original stock to links to boots/kernels/roms/etc? The old forums used to but they were much more heavily developed (S2/X1/G4 etc) so maybe this would come in time?
No worries about unlocking the bootloader. I tried a couple of the very new custom ROMs and if you chose one with GApps integrated there should be no problems. With the Mi flash tool you can always return to the original state with MIUI and locked bootloader.
After testing crDroid, ArrowOS and CatalystOS my current favourite is SparkOS.
Just installed Barclays App to check for you, it's starting without complaints and asking for the login credentials...
PS. I didn't root the F4.

Thanks for the reply, will gander into it tomorrow. Is the MiFlash tool just for restoring back to a general stock OS? I've always had SDs in phones so backed up original FW to SD, and flashed through phone having to wipe internal. Is flashing on this now all done through PC now? Only ever really trusted XDA for support but not a lot for F4 yet. Is there somewhere with instructions? Looking forward to trying these ROMs (crDROID was always one of my faves back in the day) but looking forward to trying these others too
Follow this guide to unlock the bootloader.
Mi only supplies their unlock tool for Windows.
Then follow the flashing instructions for the ROM of your choice.
Backup/restore with TWRP or OrangeFox not working yet on the F4.
crDroid is in a rudimentary state as of today, Spark is a lot more developed with a similar choice of config options as crDroid in general has.
