Custom Vibrating Ringtones? - LG G8 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to make your own ringtones with custom vibrating patterns?
I like the way the LG ringtones have their own vibrating beats to the sound, but when you add your own ringtone it just does a default vibrating pattern.
I couldn't find any information anywhere, so I figured that I would ask here.
Thanks.

install the Tasker app, it has the ability to create a custom vibrate pattern and ability to set phone to play this pattern when it rings.
but if you are not familiar with Tasker it will take some learning and research to make it do what you want.
best place for Tasker support is r/Tasker

[Q] Missed Call/Text notification ringtone at boot ?

I haven't seen this anywhere on the web..
Is anyone else annoyed by the stupid ringtone that plays after boot when you have a missed call/text?
I don't see any setting to turn this off anywhere.. I can easily delete the .ogg ringtone with root explorer but I want to actually turn the notification off or remove/alter the code that causes it..
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
don't know about you, but i find that feature very important and useful
i want to know of all my missed calls or messages during a reboot, or just before the reboot
Well for me it's highly annoying when I'm rebooting at work and widgetlocker kicks in and hides it so that I can't stop it and then it plays loudly for several seconds
Sent from my T989 hunting for Siri Connor
for that i always put my phone on mute or vibrate only before reboot
yes, however I am looking for an automated solution..
I guess what I will do is replace the .ogg file with a better ringtone, something more subtle.. until I figure out where the code is so I can alter it.
the easy way to change ringtones and alerts tones, i use Zedge, free from market
That won't change what I am taking about. And changing ringtones is easy..

[Q] Ring Once Only

I posted this the other day. It never showed up? Did someone delete it?
Anyways - My phone just seems to ring only once when I call it. It will continue to ring through but only without ringing. If I put vibrate as a choice it will vibrate but other wise it just is silent and rings until voicemail.
I don't have a profile setup for ring that I can see.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Noticed this myself, it doesn't seem to loop the ring tone but will continue to vibrate

+1 same here
I think the problem may lie with the audio file. It seems to loop with the default ringtones but not with custom. May need to set the audio files to loop?
What kind of audio format are you using?
In a German board some guy had this issue with .ogg and could fix it by using . mp3 instead.
Haven't checked by self cause I always pick up the phone instantly.
I am using the the standard ring tones with the Nexus. It's called Digital Phone.
I have tried all the rings tones and they all do the same exact thing. Ring once and then silence or If the setting is changed to Ring and Vibrate then it will vibrate..
Update: I did notice something after playing around with it a little longer. Even though one of the included ring tones is Ditigal Phone and many others. There are many tones that start from D-Z do not loop when you are testing the tones. Any ringtone from Digital Ring Tone and below do not loop in playback.
So that must be the case for me at least. Anyone test it out and confirm?
When playing ringtones to see if they loop - I can't get anything from Digital RingTone and below to play in a loop for testing.

Sound and Vibrate?

There are very little sound options provided with the UI. I'd like to have a sound, sound and vibrate, vibrate , and a silent mode but it seems sound and vibrate are not possible. The only option I see is the vibrate when ringing option but that's only for phone calls, I want vibration for all notifications.
I'd like to avoid using an app to do this as most phone manufacturers provide this functionality out of the box but if need be, any suggestions? Preferably not an app that has endless options and complexities and preferably doesn't look like android version 1.
thanks!

Notification settings

I jumped directly from Kitkat (Cyanogen OS which my old phone had and which I never updated as it was very buggy update to Lollipop and I wanted for MM which never came) to Nougat when I bought the Z2 Play. It's mostly a positive change except for the notification settings. I know it's been discussed at length how Google messed up the notification settings on Lollipop and the trend has continued in Nougat too.
So now to my issue with it. I have currently set ringtones at full volume and Notifications on silent by selecting default notification ringtone as "None" as I don't want to hear a chime on every notification that comes through as most of my notifications are News feeds. Whenever l recieve a notification my phone vibrates so I assume there's no setting to customize Silent/Vibrate by default for all notifications and also individual app unless the app itself has implemented it in its settings like Textra and merely selecting no notification ringtone sets it to vibrate unless I go to individual app settings and set on the toggle "Show Silently". It is quite convoluted really.
Now what I want to achieve with the way my phone acts on notifications is something like this:
I want the to set a default notification ringtone and I want to set some notifications to vibrate and some to silent which I simply cannot do unless the app provides its own settings of silent/vibrate.
I want the Reminders and Events set in the Google and Calendar app to have a notification ringtone even when in default settings I have set notification ringtone to "None" but they rely on default notification settings. Some apps like Textra provide their own so is it really hard for Google's own app to do the same. This way I can set a different ringtone too than the default one. So I would like to know of a way to do so. Maybe the Motorola profile Settings can be used for this? That is why I am posting this here also.
And honestly why aren't Reminders relying on Alarm sound i.e. if alarms are allowed to make a sound Reminders should too. It is really frustrating. I missed a reminder like this today because I wasn't aware of the convoluted way Nougat handles all this.
Kitkat had the best implementation. It had a separate slider for notification sounds too.(Cyanogen OS had one).
What I think is a better implementation is allowing to set a default ringtone in Sounds settings and then in individual app's notification settings separating the vibrate part from the "Show Silently" option. This would allow me to achieve my goal of having a ringtone for some apps, vibrate for some and silent for some. And it would solve my problem of having a sound when I have set a reminder in the Google app and have set default notification ringtone to "None".
The best implementation of course would be to set a default silent, vibrate or ringtone for notifications and then have granular control for each app i.e have a list of all apps and allowing to choose from Silent, Vibrate or ringtone for each app which would override the default.
Also why not allow to change the default sound that the volume rockers control. In Google's own YouTube app volume rockers change the notification volume and not the media volume which is again very frustrating.
Sorry for the long post and rant. I really wish Google fixes this but I doubt it.
Many apps have individual notification settings.

True many not all and especially not the Google app and calendar app to which I add reminder and Events. And I cannot set a default notification ringtone as the news feeds apps I use don't have a setting to set them on vibrate. So I am kind of stuck there.

There are other calendar apps and you can silence the Google calendar. I use DigiCal, for the dark theme.
I don't know what kind of apps exist for news feeds, but if you get and android wear watch you can totally silence the phone and select which apps vibrate your wrist.

Thanks for the app suggestion. Does it support adding Reminders through Google Assistant?

If you mean creating new events via voice, yes.

Mute mod attachment sound?

Does anyone know how to mute the mod attachment sound?
I haven't seen anything in settings, nor do I know a way to mute an app.

im sure if you have root you can go into the system files and just delete the sound
The sound is in the ModService Apk, which will turn into a big ugly mess if I edit. Why - we get updates for it via play store, and it's a system app.
The sound id outputted via ringer. why you're ringer is off, but media is on (and playing) you can attach the speaker and have it switch seamlessly with no sound.
The sound will play on DND if it is priority only, and that is with only stared contacts going through. However Alarms only and mute all are fine
I found a clunky, but semi easy, way to do it is to turn DND(must be alarms only or mute all) on before you attach, and off afterwords.
I think I'm going to uses a taker notification to automate the ringer method, maybe using quick settings
ex:
task 5SecRingOff
set var %ring to %VOLR # store the current volume in a variable called ring
Set ringer to 0 # turn of ringer
wait 5 seconds # allow time to attach
set ringer to %ring # restore old volume
(comments are python style, I've been using a lot of it lately.)
However, I still would be interested to see if we could disable via settings, shell or adb.
I tried muting all notification sounds on all Motorola apps. This would require an edit to the apk from what I have tried so far. I will dig a little further on my day off and run a logcat to see what triggers the noise and see if it can be an edit that will allow updates to go through. It might take a few days if a modified apk isn't what you're looking for.
I'm fine with that.
Just in case you missed it, the sound goes through the same audio stream as the phone's ringtone does. It does not go through notifications or media.
Is it possible to block it from accesssing that stream. Disabling phone permissions doesn't do it.
