For Optmizing kernel and Ram management
NFS injector and FD.AI mod
Now you might be wondering why I used two Ram and kernel optrimizers instead of one the reason is that NFS aims for Optmizing cell for overall fluid experience be it in heavy games like pubg or asphalt 8
while FD ai realtime optimizer i.e. it optmizes Ur cell on the basis of how it is used so as to provide faster app openings ,fluid animations and more ? life and best part is it will keep Ur phone improving day by day based on type of user.
U will not able to understand it completely until you not experience it.
Next up is PIXIFY(slim)
This mod activate all this pixel goodies on your phone such as screen call etc. without putting more load on phone.
Next up is SONY DUMMY.
this mod help you to get all Sony apps available in playstore without much hustle but you have clear playstore data once after reboot.

Yes screen call is not available for now on custom roms

After 2 days 9f putting all sorts of stress on Phone I can now say NFS injector and FD AI mod make a difference. I find phone much more responsive. The best part is even after heavy pubg playing for 5hrs, the phone remained Cool and performed exceptionally well. I m using arrow OS by bauuu. Go for it guys.

I only use NFS injector for my phone currently because its is stated that to not use any other kernel tweakers.
while at that, my experience with only NFS injector is pretty good.
battery is cool even on heavy gaming session

(Q) Rooted , boot loader unlocked now what ?

I have had a good look around the forums but still feel like a small fish in a big pond
I would like my play to be lean without all the bloat do I need to flash a new rom / kernel for this ? would like it to run faster , I am into games had a stack of emulators before I rooted and unlocked what benefits can I expect now and what programs / mods should I be doing in general ?
I apologise I know this has probably all been asked before but this is the first time I have messed with a phone and every thread I look at confuses me more .
i found that the stock rom works for me the best in terms of gaming and even normal use. i have .58 rom + Samsung Galaxy SII theme on it and it works smooth for me for now i also using Rom Toolbox to uninstall bloatware and block ads in programs. whenever i installed some custom roms, they were great, have awsome functionality, but i always back to a stock one where i had no problems with compatibility in hardware or software...
Ok, thats what many are asking right now!
If you are a hardcore pro gamer and you only use your play solely for play games using the PS certified pads then don't bother coming here. Cause I can tell you you are gonna have a bad time trying to find a decent hack, Custom ROM and ICS firmware with a stable and optimised Game pad compatibility. True i can say some are better and some are worse. Many ROMs fully suppor emulators. However No Custom ROM has a proper working driver where all those HD games by gamloft can run on.
So now i said all the disadvantages then here are some pf the pros
Rooting, unlocking your phone opens many capabilities. You can flash ICS which is the latets android operating system on the market and not available throguh offical update on Xperia play. You can learn more about how the phone works and everyday you get the chance to try out cool features that the devs around here make or implement. ICS is fast and smooth. Not so nice with the gamepads. But fast! Performance on it is excelllent. Battery life sometime an issue though. Unlocking bootloader and rooting would mean you can flash complex kernals that can allow you to Over Clock your CPU safely to 1.8ghz which is almost double the speed you would get on stock firmware. Some say it's useless when you can't use that speed to play hardcore games but thats not true. The OC speed has given me personally faster video playback and most points and All the normall games on the pla market generally load much faster,
I hope this gave you what you were looking for.
Good luck and happy rooting
Cheers I am not concerned about the HD games the only marketplace one I play is GTA 3 I am more concerned about emulators , so can you point me in the direction of a good kernel and rom to accomplish this and give me a few pointers of how to change them , i have flash toll but I am kind of lost at this point .
Try Gin2Ics, emulators work, it's stable and unarguably the best Gingerbread rom there is, in my opinion
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631144
Well i am going to give it a go , wish me luck
Which files do i need from the repository the rom and what else ?
So I am rom and Kernel successful but now my wifi does not turn on
I've tried many of the ROMs and kernel combinations but so far gin2ics with stock seems the most enjoyable. You don't need an unlocked bootloader for this.

[ROOT]Quick performance and battery life guide.

This is going to be brief for now and I'll update with links later, plus extra tips that can help a lot. Here goes.
I've been modding/tweaking android phones for around a year and had a few devices, plus done other peoples devices
You'll want to make a full backup in cwm before anything.
ALWAYS THOROUGHLY READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, GUIDES AND F.A.Q'S BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING. DO IT TWICE. IT NEVER HURTS TO EDUCATE YOURSELF BUT IT WILL HURT IF YOU BREAK YOUR DEVICE AND I WILL "LAUGH OUT LOUD" BECAUSE I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE AND YOU HAVE BE ADVISED.
Best performance mod is cross breeder, it's a tad out dated now but still the most stable and battery friendly. Also blocks ads.

A must have root app is greenify, it hibernates apps at your will or when the screen is off without freezing them etc. Basically it prevents apps and games from chewing your battery and keeps your ram nice and free. Don't use other ram apps with this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155737
DS battery saver works well and actually keeps processes dead while your phone is asleep, keeping your phone in deep sleep. I don't always use this unless I get random battery drains during sleep.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030696
Viper4android (find in xda) is the best android sound mod but still in the works. Its immense and installs drivers that make your audio crispy clear, whilst giving plenty of extra sound features. It can be a ***** to get it working properly though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Last but not least, Nova launcher is the best and fastest launcher with overall best features.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
I'm gonna update my profile on xda with all the links and from my experience and research these are the overall must haves.
Also if you haven't done already, unlock developer options by going to settings/about, scroll down to build number and keep clicking it until it says you are now a developer. This will unlock tons of developer options such as debugging and onscreen performance stats. Be careful with these and I recommend setting limit background processes to 4 on each boot, and animation scales to 0.5.
Also please note that developers of these mods and apps worked hard and deserve credit where due. Not me, I'm just an eccentric-android-person-thing. These are my opinions and should not be taken as a clear certainty, but moreover: "my favorite android ****".

thanks for sharing this with us.
I've tested the Viper4android App/Mod and it sounds really good with my Earpods
"CrossBreeder" is something I used with my SGS3 and was very happy with. Will try to install it now on my s4 mini.
"Greenify" is a very good App, that I am using for quite a long time now.
Never used "DS battery saver", but as you said you only use it when getting random drains, so I think this isn't necessary for me.
finally I don't think there is a big difference between nova and apex launcher, so I will stick to apex

[Q] The most RAM saving ROM

Greetings,
I've been around for some time, lurking mostly. And installing a ROM with ICS or JB on my Galaxy W was a wonderful way to innovate. It feels like I'm using a brand new phone, which is awesome.
I have tried Cyanogen mod and Paranoid Android and even the PAC roms. But the issue I run while using them is that my ram seems to be full most of the time, and it's filled with system apps more than my own apps. Which limits the phone seriously. I am almost unable to use Swiftkey for typing online or even messages, since it lags too much the phone.
I plan on keeping a couple of apps like a battery saver, Aviate launcher and occasionally a traffic monitor app like 3g Watchdog.I've been thinking about going back to Gingerbread versions, although new ones seem more enticing with features/apps like Google now.
I'm breaking my question in two parts:
1 - Can a more advanced android version like JB (or maybe KK) help make the system faster and the ram management more efficient? Or should I stick with a rom similar to stock?
2 - What roms do you recommend? Which Kernel? Or should I just face the fact my phone won't be able to comply with my current needs and I should ask Santa for an iPhone?
thanks

Can't add widgets with aviate launcher (settings crashes)
otherwise seems alright.

Z2 Plus overall usability review with custom roms and bugs, battery life, heating etc

Hi Z2 plus users.
After lot of analysis and research, I finally ordered Lenovo Z2 plus today. Got a great deal.
8k INR / approx 125 USD
I have the option of getting Redmi Note 4 as well at approx 150 USD / 10k
I have gone through lot of videos on youtube with different custom rom reviews of Z2 plus, pros, cons etc.
My main concerns are:
- Battery Life
- Heating issue
- Overall usability without digging into custom rom installations and updates very frequently. I will install custom rom but would like to use it as daily driver for few months at least before I look for new updates etc. (Time is the issue - Don't get much of it these days to do all the research and experiments )
With custom roms like AICP, Jaguar - how is the battery life in terms of SOT?
How is the heating issue with custom roms which this phone is infamous for?
I saw a review from Indian tech reviewer on youtube suggesting Jaguar R14 is very stable and good rom for this. But I see some complains and users posting different issues in Jaguar rom thread.
Kindly suggest, if it will be good to go for this phone now (after 1.5 yrs of it's launch)?
Can I expect to use it as daily driver without any significant issues for next 2-3 years with custom roms?
At present which custom rom will you suggest with regards to Battery life and heating issue resolution?
some inputs here will he really helpful

I do not have the device yet and that is my dilemma whether to accept it or return it.
Does these roms also have overheating issues?
How is the battery life on these?
CitrusCAF 3.5 by miju12 seems very stable(dont flash custom kernel unless you know what you are doing) and have favourable review from the users.
and Lenovo z2 is better choice anyway
looks okay
Got mine today as well. Same deal as the OP (around $120). First thing done was an upgrade to Nougat. Sept 2016 manufacturing and there was still 30% charge left . Device did heat up during upgrade as it was on charge. Haven't observed any major heating since. I have upgraded (or downgraded) from a oneplus 2 so my criteria of heating may be somewhat biased. A 5 inch display does seem smallish though.
Geekbench 4 was 1720, 3999 which is par for SD820. So no throttling etc.
Just wondering what is so broken about stock ROM ? What's not going well with everyone on ZUI ? I did tweak the DPI to my liking - other than that ROM feels pretty much stockish android. I mean I have heard so much hate about stock ROM for this device?
Edited - Ok I am starting to see oddities. 1. Double notifications (any fixes?)
And the usual follow up questions -
- Does the U touch specialization / gestures (swiping etc) work on the custom roms for this device ? Edited - Yes I guess.
- Would unlocking bootloader reset the device ? If yes, might as well do it before setting up apps etc. Edited - Yes it would like any other device.

I have been using Rooted ZUI (I believe that’s what the stock rom is called) for a few weeks now (Xposed now, but that’s been just a few days). At first I thought I would keep it stock rooted and get all the things I need with Xposed, but the Notification drawer and Lock screen is getting on my nerves. All notifications are ICS Style, i.e. they are not expandable and they have no quick action (except USB connection to PC which lets u choose cam/file mode). Lock screen has this weird image in the middle which just sits there doing nothing. Notifications doesn't get displayed in lockscreen (weirdly I am getting 1 calendar notification there, but nothing else). I tried enabling lockscreen notification for a lot of apps, but it seems to just allow calendar and nothing else.
The U-touch is awesome BTW, but wont let me start Google Assistant voice through it (I like being able to set alarms through it)

MIUI or Vanilla Android?

Dear all,
This is my first Xiaomi phone and my first experience with MIUI. I love MIUI so far so good, I think it's a very fast ROM and has awesome features, such as full screen feature where there is no navigation buttons at the bottom of screen and you just swipe from the edges of screen.
However,
I see that many people don't like MIUI and most of the kernels don't support MIUI. Why is this? Is vanilla android ROMs, such as Pixel Experience, AOSIP, RR, etc better than MIUI? How? Do they have full screen feature like the one on MIUI? I've never used any ROM other than MIUI so far, so I don't know. And I would want to know if there are any advantages before trying them out blindly.
Also, could you please advise which kernels can be used with MIUI? Serious answers please.
Regards,
I really prefer Pixel Experience like ROM. You know, Xiaomi add their ads in their system software, you will not like that. Xiaomi do not control ads contents, it's a third party company who decides the content of ads. So, your kid may see sexual ads while using your phone.
Miui is good but now a days xiamoi is becoming greedy you know adds too many and bugs .that's all nothing else to hate
Yes, edge gestures are there in RR. I use them personally.

I am not playing game. I usually use my phone for news, facebook, reading novels. I played game several days ago, it may last around 5 hours for a light game. Normally, without game, it can last 8 hours on screeen.
With MIUI 10 my battery life goes bad... Before i had about 3 days, now i only get 2 days... I want to try another rom now. Maybe pixel experince rom.
Can someone help me a little bit here, too?
My questions:
1.)
Is battery life nearly the same like with miui - will i get my 3 days (with light use) back?
2.)
Is full gesture control (no bottom back, menu, homescreen buttons) working in pixel experience rom too?
3.)
Is face unlock working in pixel experiece rom too? Is it the same like in miui or is this another face unlock app from google? Which one is better/faster?
4.)
Is camera working in pixel experince rom out of the box? Is camera as good as miui camera? Is all working in pixel camera?
5.)
Is there any big bug in a non-miui rom? Some missing (big) features?

Oh man you should move to custom rom if you play games. In MIUI I can't play AOV 60 fps, can't run PUBG on HDR setting, it was a pain since our phone's specification actually can do it. You can see other phone with exactly same spec can run it right (Asus Max Pro M1).
I don't expect to get those features when changing to custom ROM since I just wanted to upgrade to Android Pie, but when I run the games unexpectedly those features enabled by default. So satisfying ?
It's simple. If MIUI is enough for you, just use it. If you wanna MIUI features, like gestures or dual apps, just use MIUI. It's simple
