Hey @flar2 when attempting to patch the zip file for 1.01 magisk fails to patch returning error unsupported/unknown image format. 1.00 went fine during this process.
Nevermind. I'm stupid sometimes. This is a zip not an image. Flashing now.

I ask because the instructions state to flash via twrp. Glad to see some movement!

Nice to see the first custom kernel for the 3a. This will probably help me decide if I should get the device ?

I went ahead and bit the bullet on rooting and installing this kernel... I am amazed. The 3a is snappy as is but this is at another level. My 3a is noticeably snappier and overall smoother. Thank you!

Did you notice any hit on your battery life?

Yeah OP's link gave me that error too but if you navigate at the top of the website you can find the pixel 3a section for the kernel. Which is this - https://elementalx.org/devices/pixel-3axl/
Exmanager link on OP's post works though.

What are you trying to flash exactly? I have to correct the download link, I am currently uploading the first build I don't have the device so I need owners to help me with bug reports and I will slowly merge(each build will have a couple new ones), but there may be several builds a day until we get to where I want this to be.
EDIT: It's up now, first build is R2, I have changed the download link to the correct folder

Wow this is really happening!!! Thank you @RIPng and other people that help with the kernel porting
By the way, if we encounter any bug, what is the best way (or what kind of log file) to show you the error in order for you to debug it?

It was all me for coding, there were a couple people testing for me Any bugs either need instructions to replicate or a last_kmsg for reboots. I do also sometimes honor reports of stuff just not working properly, but I need a proper description of what it occurring.

Dark Kernel (Stock kernel for MIUI with Spectrum support) for Redmi Pro

Hello MIUIers!
I am here to share with you a new custom boot img I have done for the Redmi Pro. It is the stock boot img used for MIUI but with some additions in order to support Spectrum but, what is Spectrum?
Spectrum is an app that aims to do what apps like Kernel Adiutor do but in a much easier way with different profiles. In the app you can choose between 4 profiles: Balanced, Battery, Performance and Gaming.
When a mode is chosen some parametres are changed such as the governor of the CPU in order to give a better performance or a better battery life.
Modes:
In the first version of this boot img the modes are programmed to do:
Balanced: same configuration as in the stock kernel.
Battery: the CPU governor is changed to powersave. This means that the CPU will tend to avoid the use of the faster CPUs and it will also change slower between frequencies in order to give a better battery life but reducing drastically the performance of the phone.
Performance and Gaming: in this version this 2 modes have the same configuration. The 8 slower cores of the CPU are configured to use an interactive governor while the other 2 cores are configured to use a performance governor.
Installation and download links:
First of all: this boot img has been tested in some unofficial MIUI 8 China Dev ROM. If you are using other ROM (China Stable) please do a back up before trying it and if it worked well please reply and tell me
WARNING!: it has bugs in China Dev ROM, I will fix it soon
Steps:
1 - You need TWRP, if you do not have it you can download it from here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-565402-1-1.html
2 - Download the boot img here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120743595
3 - Download SuperSu (Even if you had root you will have to download this because some files are installed inside the boot img and by changing it those files are lost.http://www.supersu.com/download (Download the flashable zip)
4 - Go to TWRP and use the flash img option to flash the boot img you have downloaded to the boot partition. Then go back to the flash zip option and flash the supersu zip.
5 - Reboot and enjoy
Do not forget to download the Spectrum app from the Play Store to change between the modes

The kernel is the same as stock but just with spectrum support. I cannot modify the kernel itself because we do not have the kernel sources.
I could add the spectrum support because it is a couple of files outside the kernel that have commands to interact directly with the kernel

Thanks must have missed this one as I normally don't use it ? and just reported it.
Great kernel 5 stars
The beast is here!!
Hi man,
i use Magisk and i have a decrypted TWRP.
I see, when i flash the another kernel, magisk was disable and i need to reflash. It's that a possible problem?
Thanks a lot

I'm also on freedom 4.5.6 and have no bootlops or any other issues. Can you give me more details about your setup. Are you encrypted/decrypted and what root method supersu/magisk used?

As far as I know there is still an issue with magisk and decrypted oos. If you wanna stay decrypted I suggest you switch to supersu. Otherwise use magisk on encrypted oos only for now until TWRP is updated.

Please try below solution taken from xXx rom thread. I haven't tried it my self so can't confirm if it actually works.

yes, but for now i see all "data partition" and i haven't problem. I don't know if the problem is Magisk or module of magisk. Because, when i flash another kernel, and flash Magisk, i don't have any problem.

This is only kernel and not a ROM. Be sure to flash a ROM first and then the kernel to boot into system. Or otherwise don't come yelling that it didn't booted...:p We are good in helping only if you're good at reading and explaining, if not then please don't flash this.
Some Information:-
1) Battery/SOT ?
Ans: This is contradictory thing so let the kernel settle and then check yourself and report back.
2) How frequent kernel gets updated ?
Ans: It can be daily or weekly or hourly as well.......
3) Feature request ?
Ans: Always Welcome. We will appreciate, if the request comes with proper commits and links.
4) Compatible with Oxygenos ?
Ans: Maybe or May be not, Please test & let me know.
Lastly We love to have feedback related ethical improvements, feature improvements or something from which we can learn.

It means you need to wait for a few days before starting to cry about battery drain. Charge it for 3/4/5 times and "let it settle"!
About aod/ambient display feature, can you share some useful information/commits about this?

Excuse my ignorance, is this kernel for OOS only or custom roms as well? Thanks.
Had to flash in twrp. Tried EKM and failed to create the magisk module. All went smooth in twrp.

i use fkm amd works fine though
as the developer asked for feedback ..this kernel at Oos loses the function of waking the screen to digital with a touch. just like the other kernels that are for custom roms.
Flashed on a 7T Pro with FKM. Seems to be working fine on OOS. Any feature list other than the fact that it's upstreamed to the latest linux-stable? Like BBR or 300hz tick rate? Doesn't seem like wireguard is included. Do we need to disable RAM boost for this kernel? Some other kernels require you to do that.
This is the only custom kernel left for the OP3/T so I'm running mad kernel there as well.

Open the app to set the screen, let it work by tapping 2 times to wake the screen and then it will work for you. I also use this kernel with xxx no limits v.12 it works great and saves battery life as well. I like this kernel.
