Auto dark mode - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Questions & Answers

I spent some time searching for auto dark mode setting, but there is only manual switch in display settings. I'm not sure if that's specific only to my device, but it looks like I found a way to turn on automatic dark mide.
Simply run following adb command while the phone is connected to the PC:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 0
Flipping the switch in display settings changes that value to 1 or 2 so it forces light or dark mode. 0 is for automatic switch.

I can find it in developer mode.

In xiaomi.eu but in global and in eea rom I cant find it
With the method from maciek90 I receive error Security exception: Permission denial: writing to settings requires:android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

You have to flip one additional switch for adb debugging in developer options. I can't recall its name, but it was near the switch for standard USB debugging.

Button lights no longer working

The lights that usually appear between the buttons on my Arc S no longer work and I can't remember when they stopped! I wonder if a mod I've installed is to blame but I don't want to wipe my phone and start from scratch if possible so am looking for some help...
I am running 4.0.2.A.0.42.
Here is what I have installed:
V6 SuperCharger
I thought this might be the culprit so I used Script Manager to stop running the script at boot, rebooted and it made no difference.
Reboot option in power menu
I am using the one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094730
Status bar widget mod
I am using the Ultra theme from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295254
That's about it.
However, one thing is odd - I seem to have an 'Automatic brightness' setting in Display options and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I first got the phone!
Any help is welcome.

Found it - the reboot mod was to blame.
was there any other impact other than "they just didnt light up" ?
Nope - just no lights. Seems that a few of the reboot mods available in the apps forum have the same bug.
How did you get the option to turn off/on automatic brightness? I dont have that on my phone and have same firmware as yours.

It appeared when I installed the reboot mod - but it doesn't do anything so you're not missing out! I guess the reboot mod files must of originally come from an SE device that had working automatic brightness.
oh thats too bad

Looking around trying to do it on my own, copying text lines that were changed in SecSettings.apk and SecSettingsProvider.apk, but I can not make it work.
Modifying SecSettings only get this:
And when I change SecSettingsProvider replacement for the original and the phone stays in bootloop.
This is a mod that many would like to have and I hope I can help finish for XWLSD ROMs, XWLS8, MS1, MS8, etc.

Been there. Trying to enable smart lock with a fit band (and didn't worked due to another 6.0 bug) the only solution is to put a pattern lock and entering the wrong comb. 5 or 6 times then it will prompt you to reset the lockscreen with your google account after that swipe is enabled by default

Thanks, that kinda worked. Had to press a "Forget Pattern" button, but then I logged in and Swipe lock was selected by default. However, None and Swipe are still greyed out. If I change it, I have to go through resetting it like that to turn them off. Any idea what could be the issue? I've deactivated all administrators, cleared credentials already and have no VPN set up.
I did, however, try making a Tasker task with Secure Settings+ to unlock at home, but it didn't seem to work, so I've removed that as well.

I have sen this before, on other device. It was a setting in deveolper options call "draw-over" but i do not see it on this device. I will look for it and update you when i find it.
in the mean-time, think about what apps you have that are allowed to show notifications, change theme, keyboard apps, other modifications away from stock.
edit (2 minutes later)
look here ==> https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75863435&postcount=4
settings > apps and notification > apps > setting icon (lower left, gear) > special access > draw over othe apps > top right 3 dots menu (show system process) >
that list has the likely app causing the trouble on it.
I had the same thing. It was because of Dimly, an app that can make your brightness go REALLY dim. Something similar to this that changes the display in some way will be the cause. Do as @mrmazak says.

I had the same issue.
This happens because your previous device had night light activated. When you added and sync your device all the device setting got transferred.
Miui doesn't allow us to use the native Night light setting even though it's already present because of Android.
You have to factory reset and add account back without importing your device setting from previous phone.
Just unselect the part when restoring apps.
Hey,
I had the same issue https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jami.tool.hiddensetting install this app search nightdisplaysuggestion and turn off - Now you're ready to rock
