What is the maximum Wi-Fi AC speed on S10+? Does it work at 160MHz channel width? - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello there.
I'm using G975F (S10+ Exynos). I noticed that the maximum network speed I get is 866Mpbs (when the phone is close to the router). It can be checked by tapping on the connected network name in Wi-Fi settings.
My router is Synology RT2600AC (Wave 2) and I was able to connect other device (PC motherboard) at 160MHz channel width, which resulted in over 1.3Gb/s speeds.
Obviously I tried changing 5Ghz radio settings, channels, etc. in router settings, but it didn't succeed.
I didn't find any useful information about the maximum Wi-Fi AC speed on S10/S10+
I tested with the WiFiAnalyzer app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer
And it shows that I'm connected only at 80MHz:

I found the following topic on S9+ forums: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77773354&postcount=10
It shows that @afh3 was able to connect on 160Mhz (because the speed is around 1.1Gb/s):
Reading S10+ specification, it seems like the 160MHz width is supported on 5GHz radio, because that's what the new Wi-Fi 6 (AX) standard requires.
So there is either a problem with my router, or the Exynos version doesn't use 160Mhz? I actually tested it with 2 different S10+ devices, and the other one has exactly the same "problem" (can't connect at 160MHz width).
Could somebody with an AC Wave 2 router please check what speeds it shows, and if WiFiAnalyzer shows 80MHz or 160MHz width?
I would appreciate all information which can help us understand it. Thank you!
Btw. I posted it in the "Discussion" forums, because this topic was created to get information from users, not trying to fix anything.

From Samsung the S10 only capable of 80Mhz.
https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-s10/specs/

If "VHT80" says it, then at this site: https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-s9/specs/ it's "VHT80" as well.
Wonder why @afh3 was able to connect at 160MHz then on his S9+?
Looks like some difference between Exynos and Snapdragon? O_O
EDIT: S9+ Snapdragon also has "VHT80": https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/galaxy-s9/specs/
S10 Snpdragon specification is missing on their website. So confusing!

Hi @przmus
The speed shown on that shot wasn't due to the utilization of a 160MHz channel, but rather the phone-to-WAP multi-stream MU-MIMO connection that was established.
I've since updated the WAPs that were used at that time with new WiFi6 equipment and, with an S10+, the reported link-speed is now 1200Mbps if you are close enough to the access-point.
This, too, is not due to a 160MHz channel, but, again, the result of multiple streams being leveraged to deliver that link performance with an 80MHz configuration.
From what I can tell, my S10+ cannot even establish a WiFi connection at 160MHz at all.
With my 802.11ax system set to provide a 160MHz option, my Snapdragon S10+ continues to report that it is using a fall-back 80MHz channel.
Hope this helps.

Only seeing 80MHz on APs set to VHT160 as well.
Both S10+ and S10 5G showing same results.

Hi, so i have S10+ , SM-9750 it's the Snapdragon version, my router is asus ac86u, so 80 mhz max.
But i connect at 1083 Mbps and at 1 meter about the router.

Thanks for your replies guys, especially to @afh3 for not ignoring my "@" mentions.
So if I understand correctly, it should jump over 1Gb/s with the following configuration:
Since it gives two streams of 80+80MHz width. Unfortunately in my case (on Exynos version) it doesn't work.
I hope we will also get feedback from the other, Exynos users to understand it better.
Thanks again!

just a thought but i think you can get 1gig link speed. because of the 1024qam. here.. next to the router , reconnect the wifi. then go to your dialer. and go to *#0011# then click the 3 dot menus on the top and click WiFi. screenshot that. we should be able to see if its connected to AC or N etc. also you should be able to see the modulation scheme being used at the moment.. post it here please

Interesting eh... Thanks for the screenshot

Realistic wifi6 speed should be 504mbps.
1200 (max PHY speed) * 0.6 (minus wifi headroom) *0,7 (minus environment issues, configuration issues) = 504mbps.

Try a different wifi channel on the router.
I think the GN supports any of the first four channels.
5GHz is disgracefully and HORRIBLY broken on the GN. Class action suit might be in order…

I get better range on 2.4 (which is to be expected), but I connect and stay connected to 5ghz as well. I get an easy 15 down 10 up on 5ghz.

Think your Note 3's wifi is fast?

What internet are you guys paying for and how do you get such great speeds?
I can't even get over 10 down.
Has to be fibre optic
those speeds are insanely awesome.
How I envy you guys, imagine how much work and how fast I can get things done with speeds like that.

Holy hell batman! Your school must be on dual band .N or even .AC, i'm stuck sadly on the 2.4ghz .N channel, so hence the bottleneck. Our Universities fiber pipe can go well beyond that.

Is that actually outside your wifi network or just internal? Big difference
That photoshopped?
Disconnect from your schools wifi and see how fast it goes.
EDIT: Also, what's the point of hiding your IP address and not your latitude and longitude?

My previous photo is from where I work, we have a 1Gb fiber connection, I have seen speedtests as high as 260Mbps on my Note3. On my coworkers new Macbook Pro he can get about 300Mbps from the same access point (Aruba ap-225 AC). Wired and when the students are off campus, I can get 800Mbps, so there is some bottleneck with the wireless throughput, but the Note 3 is nearly as good as the MBP, which is really something!

I noticed he was referring to his internet connection in the screenshot after I posted. The title indicates the WIFI speed capacity the Note 3 will handle not who has the fastest internet connection. My internet is only 30 down and 5 up which is still plenty fast. The highest link speed on the WIFI connection on my note 3 was 384 I believe. I have an AC router and that is on the 5GHz connection. The 2.4GHz isn't as fast.

We have done lots of testing on link speed vs actual throughput at work, and even the MacBook Pro's with new AC wireless cards to our Aruba ap-225's say 800Mbps link speed, but we are lucky to pull 400Mbps in local file transfer tests. The AC speeds are all theoretical, actual transfer will likely never be close to link speed, but the firmware on our Arubas is still not optimal, so I know that is our bottleneck.

Oh yes, the golden days 2400 baud rate dial up . Seemed like yesterday! I am assuming these types of speeds is near impossible for home set ups? In my area I think the fastest is 50 meg down via Bright House.
Well I'm in Mexico right now and the Hotel's WiFi reminds of the Dial Up days. Right now I'll take any of the slowest speeds posted. I think I'm getting less then 1mb dowbload. This trip made me appreciate how far data speeds have come in the U.S.

[Q] LG G4 Wifi Link Speed?

I'm using the T-Mobile ASUS Router. But on my LG G4 The WiFi Link Speed can barely get to 263Mbps in the same room as the router. When I walk out of the room its go down to 6Mbps. When I had my Nexus 6 I could of had gotten 866Mbps on the WiFi Link Speed, Which my Nexus 9 Tablet shows right now. I'm wondering if there anyway I can fix this? I plan on getting 1000Mbps Internet soon from AT&T, Once its finished over here. So the higher my Cell phone can get should mean faster wifi speeds on this LG G4.

Nexus 9
I just want to know if I can change my WiFi Link Speed?
I am having similar issues on the 5GHz band but not when I'm on 2.4GHz. I am putting this down to the nature of 5GHz -- the 2.4GHz is generally better at penetrating through walls and concrete than higher frequency bands such as 5GHz, and I am getting much better results on the 2.4GHz band (I have several concrete walls between me and the router) even though it's congested.
In terms of overall throughput, you might want to read up on how speed multiples are achieved using 802.11ac.. it might be that bigger devices such as the nexus 9 have an advantage over phones and phablets in that they can cram more and bigger antennae into the case, and thus are capable to achieving the higher speed multiples. (The laws of physics still apply.)
Noticed this this morning my s5 is connecting to my dlink 868I @833 mbs my g4 is doing 270ish, still love the phone and the s5 had probs at launch no doubt LG will iron them out.

I'm also having issues on my H810 on the 5Ghz band. It works for a while but it always seems to hang on this connection. As soon as I switch to the 2.4Ghz all is normal. Maybe bad drivers?

2.4GHz can only go up to 144Mbps, and likely only 72Mbps on this phone with one antenna.
You won't get 866Mbps on the G4, as it only has one antenna, meaning it caps at 433Mbps.
On your Asus router, make sure you are using a higher frequency like channel 149. Even though the regulations changed recently, it has severely lowered power output on channels 36-49.

Yes, the link speed on 2.4 isn't even close to what it is on 5Ghz. But I would rather have a stable connection, even if it is a slower one.
I too am having problems on my H815 with wifi. I usually only connect to 5ghz and i am seeing multiple times where the wifi either disconnects totally but even worse is when the signal is fine but internet is not connected. Seems like a firmware issue that they will need an upgrade to fix...guess i will be using 2.4 for a little while

Thanks, that was the clue i needed to figure out why my G4 would not connect to my 5ghz n non ac wifi.
Turns out the H818N G4 only sees, channels 149 - 165 on the 5Ghz band and not 36-48, one of which was set earlier.
My sammy's did not complain though.
Has anyone found a fix for this? Using my Dell Venue 8 7000 in my bedroom I get my full 75mbs over WiFi. Using my VZW G4 I get all of 2mbs. Router is an ASUS RT-AC66R with the latest firmware.

Did anyone resolve problem with slow wifi (I have for both - 2.4 and 5GHz)?
I detect the problem in ipv6 protocol - from this site http://phandroid.com/2015/05/13/comcast-wireless-gateway-lollipop-bug/
If I install the app (it makes VPN), web sites open immediately....but i don'tlike it, because it self warns you someone can spy on you, steal my passwords, mails, etc.

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

Rate this thread to express how you think the OnePlus 3T's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
5 stars on 5ghz band. 2,4 is a bit worse but the OP3 had that too in the beginning.
Its a bit strange. I'm connected with 5Ghz and just have 150Mbit/s. My Moto X has 300Mbit/s with 5Ghz. Both are connected to the Wi-Fi at once. Router ist AVM FritzBox 7390.
Any Idea why?
Same here. Moto X Pure got connected at 866 Mbps. OP3T at only 300.
I guess it doesn't have mimo antennas.
MIMO not working?
hey guys,
I just noticed that OnePlus 3T doesn't actually support mimo wifi connectivity which is supposedly meant to increase the speed!
I have this mojo airtight c 75 wireless AP which has 3x3 MIMO and can support speeds up to 1.2gbps..
interestingly when I connect oneplus 3T on 5ghz it can only connect to 200mbps connection speed while I also have s7 edge which connects to 400mbps and gives double the speed than 3T in speed test!...why is this?when both s7 edge and 3T have MIMO and snapdragon processors

Yeah, Mimo is not available on OP3T. You can enable channel bonding for 2.4ghz. I did that and the speed doubled when i am in the same room with the router. In order for this to be effective, you have to set the 2.4ghz band to 40mhz. It won't work otherwise. More information here.

Anyway, the wifi signal on this phone is definitely weaker than nexus 5x or nexus 7 2013. I compared them side by side.
433mbps seems to be the maximum connection speed achievable by this phone, giving me around 190/240mbps out of my 250/250mbps connection (using Ubiquiti AC Pro APs).

Any of you guys on T-Mobile network? Please tell me how network is for you guys? My 6p has great network but am planning on getting 3T this week. Thanks
I just got the Le Eco Pro 3 and it connects at 866MHZ on Wifi, funny my 3 yr old Note 4 also connects at that speed.
Very disappointed that I get only 433MHZ on the OP3T.
I still don't get why is it so hard to integrate Mimo in AD 2017.
I've got a 200mbps internet package. On desktop with LAN getting 160mbps, on my OPO getting 100-110 mbps, on my OP3T getting 35-40 mbps ... wtf
OP3t is chinese version flashed with oxygenos4.0.1 while OPO on slimsaber marshmellow. Is something wrong with the phone or is this normal for oxygenos4.0.1?

Pretty bad is correct. This is on the other side of my house on WiFi. I am also comparing it to the Le Pro 3.

The Le Pro3 will support up to 520Mbps over WiFi (ac) and the OP3T gets a whopping 32Mbps on the same network in the same spot...
5 stars all the way. I am on 5ghz so I cant speak about other freq but compared to my opo I have much better reception.
When I first got the phone, Wifi was pretty poor. Frequently disconnects and even when it was connected, it never got past ~40 mbps and the signal quality was really poor despite being only ~10m away from the router with one wall in between. For some reason, without me doing anything, the wifi suddenly improved two weeks after I received the phone (prior to any updates or mods). Still frequently disconnected, but was able to transfer at an excess of 200 mbps, which far outpaced all my other devices. The signal also markedly improved.. Now with OOS 4.0.3, they have added the option to prevent IPV6, which completely fixed the frequent disconnects. I'm guessing that my router is a little outdated and that it's IPV6 provisioning was flakey. Now, the phone's Wifi is perfect.
Slow wifi speed
I just got the op3t A3010.
Updated to Nougat and tested wifi speed.
I'm only getting 25mbps which is a quarter of what we have.
I'm connected to 5.0ghz wifi. Other devices are getting faster speed.
Help please?

I get about 250 on 5ghz connection haven't really checked 2.4ghz as I don't use it much and the range is great. I noticed it stays connected when I get about 20 feet from the house even.

Problem in wifi speed connection on the Galaxy a50

Hi, I have a problem with the connection speed of the wifi. I try to explain, when I turn on the wifi the speed is at maximum, like the other devices, but after 15 or 20 minutes the maximum speed decreases and remains blocked between 40 and 50 Mb/s. If I reboot or shut down and turn on again the wifi returns to full speed like the other devices. I tried to connect to several different connections, I reset the network settings, I reset to factory data with and without backup features, but I always have the same problem. I think that the problem is software otherwise the speed would not become normal every time I turn off and turn on the wireless connection. Can anyone else test to see if it's a common problem? samsung support says that from its analysis the wireless module works and I should leave it in their hands for a few days so that they can test by repeating my attempts. Excuse my English.

I am having the same problem with my a50 sm-a505f

Mine is sm-a505FN, but do you have the same values as my screenshot? the block is on 40/50 Mb/s?
My Galaxy A50 SM-A505FN does not have this problem, at a frequency of 5GHz I reach speeds well above 200Mb.
Czech Republic.
Speed differences
I have the SM-A505U A50 from Xfinity. I find on my wifi speed while on the 2.4 I get About 40 Mbps and on the 5G I get 240mbps.
Now on my LG G6 which is over 2 years old I get 90 Mbps on the 2.4 and over 350 on the 5G network. Doesn't seem right to me, does anyone else see this kind of degradation on other phones compared to our A50 ?
My A505G can't even reach 10 Mbps on 5 GHz but on 2.4 GHz I can get full speeds out of my 50/50 fiber. My router is running DD-WRT so I can see actual clients link speed and the A50 is getting really low link speeds to the router. I have other 5 GHz 802.11ac and 802.11n devices getting 50 Mbps and link speeds according to their capacity (my router is broadcasting at 40 MHz so a 1x1 802.11ac client like the A50 should have around 200 Mbps tx/rx rate).
maybe I solved it
For my problem, the different speed in different time would be like a sleep wifi function, sometimes the speed connection come back to the top.
I searched this on the web: "Another important thing is the Wifi sleep policy. Sometimes, you notice that the internet stops in between your activity as the Wifi don’t work. This isn’t networking or any other issue. The problem is caused by Wifi sleep policy which is just like screen saver timing."
PS the official technical assistance didn't find problem on my wireless connection

I know but in my case the TX/RX rates never go higher than 86 mbps which is too low for a 802.11ac client. My other devices also go on PS state but when I run a speedtest it changes from VHT80PS to VHT80 and of course the TX/RX rate goes up to 400 mbps and the speed tests show my real Internet speeds.
No Data connection working in Samsung Galaxy A10 and A50
My brother and cousin have Samsung Galaxy A10 and A 50 respectively. In none of them cellular data works. Can anybody help me with this?
Try another brand of router or upload the latest firmware in the existing one. These problems normally happen, although due to standards, this should not happen.
Sorry, something went wrong with uploading pictures, so I'll try again.
My friend has worse problem with her Galaxy A50.
Intenet speed via Wi-Fi runs around 1Mb to 5 maximum while my Galaxy a50 has about 50 connected to the same access point.
Her husband with his Galaxy a70 has about 50Mb as well.
I tried changing wi-fi settings, full wipe, router restart, everything. Soft (brand) up to date. Nothing helps.
Finally I turned on wi-fi router on my cell and what a surprise- her connection is working fine with it- about 70Mb. On Galaxy A70 same speed. Does anyone know, what's going on??
