Lagging in Mobile Legend and Rules of Survival but PUBG works great - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

After I bought this phone I installed Ros, ML, and PUBG. I observe that only in ROS and ML I feel a massive lag even in good ping in middle of the game. I don't know if it's fps drop I mean I think sd675 can handle all high graphics of this two. PUBG in HDR and ULTRA settings works great no fps drop no lag. Can anyone notice it too? I feel bad because I'm a gamer

I had try ML but not Ros. I face same problem like you. for the first 3min on ML it good after that fps start drop until i restart the game and fps drop again

How did you get those settings in PUBG? What android version are you on?
Edit: Mine is July security patch. I can't put the game on higher than HD and High frames.

Same here. Mobile legends is lagging badly.

I used to play a very lightweight game called Punch Quest (no longer in the play store but i loved it), it ran smoothly as hell on my previous Oppo F7 ,But on A70 it was lagging like hell.
I rooted the phone and discovered that "msm-adreno-tz", which is the GPU governer for our A70, is doing horrendous work with 2D graphics (Such as ML) and Punch Quest but it's decent for 3D Graphics such as PUBG.
Changing it to Performance or even Powesave fixed the heavy lag in my games.
I hope this helps someone out.

Edit: i take back this post as this isnt working anymore. I just got excited posting thinking it was fixed right after. The phone plays games without throttling while charging. Please see my edited solution
Solution
So i have been looking what applications are associated with running the app and every system processes that affects the performance of the game.
1. The game launcher launches the game everytime and enhances the game really well. So i skipped this one.
2. I went to Galaxy Store and noticed program called *GameOptimizingService* . I went to look for the reviews and there are a couple of users who complained about frame drops too. I took the time to look at it and it seems its the main culprit for the game frame drops.
Going to the app, i looked for every processes that involves this app. Please follow these steps to stop the app from changing your system performance aggressively.
1. Go to Settings > Apps
2. Click the options or 3 dots on the upper right corner and hit *Show System apps*
3. Look and click for *Game Optimizing Service* > scroll to the bottom of the page and under Advanced Section, youll see *change system settings* > unclick the *allow permission*
4. Same goes under Appear on top section > unclick the *allow permission*
5. Click the options or 3 dots on the upper right corner and hit *Special access*
6. Under *optimize battery usage* > click the drop down *Apps not optimized* and select *All*
7. Turn off *Game Optimizing Service* and *GOS Legacy* and hit back
8. Under *Appear on top* option, hit option on the upper right corner and show system apps, then disable *Game Optimizing Service* and go back once.
9. On of the most important process, enter *change system settings* . hit option on the upper right corner and show system apps, then disable *Game Optimizing Service* and *game tools* then go back once.
10. Under wifi Control, look for *Game Optimizing Service* and disable the app permission.
11. Under usage data access, look for *Game Optimizing Service* and disable the allow usage tracking
The main goal is to hinder game optimizing service from messing any of your device's system apps.
After which, all games improved drastically in mine. Please let me know what happens to your device.

Does this mean you forced gpu to work on everything? How was the battery life after doing it? Does the battery decrease?
Does somebody knows a work around without havibg to root the device?

Did any of us say that? No. I never charge my phone while I'm playing, and the lag is always there.

As I said above, you misunderstood. He says that you should play while charging.
What @bochanseiha wants to say is:
If we use the phone for gaming while it's connected to charger, games will work smoother without (or less) fps drops. Just like laptops.
---------------------------------------------
Your solution is logical. But I do not play pubg or mobile legends. I usually play Vainglory and it never gets laggy even if I play with low battery. Someone who plays mobile legends should give this solution a chance and share his/her opinion here.

Update Game Booster in Galaxy Store.
- Open your Game.
- Pull down the Notification and tap on Game Booster
- Tap on High temperature.
- Turn off Auto Control.
I test without Charging and it work good. You can test.

I was looking for the solution but any of the solution was useless for me lol... So i moved to lineage os and got rid of everything... Games run perfectly now without any problem and also its all your stupid stock that was annoying... Now i can even play games while charging and doesnt matter if screen is on or not charging is fast.. Earlier playing with charger was so **** because it uses to lag more

this is the correct work around. I forgot to come back to update.
But apart from this, it is important to update GameOptimizingService as it throttles the game significantly too. I updated this earlier than game booster and the problem was solved.

I recommend while playing do not switch app or using other app. And block all pop up notification while playing game. I mean just play the game only.

well, i am replying whatsapp message, instagram or something like that when i am dying or respawning. There are no such issue on my previous phone and this phone with Gameoptimizing service and gameenhanced service disabled via CSWE app manager. The thing is i just want to use game launcher and game booster normally without these issues like fps drop when switching app and such cz when it happen, it will only getting worse, till i restart the game again, no matter what i do. The fps drop after few minutes playing did dissapear after update, but when switching app even for a moment, it still broke.

[Q] Anyone else notice some lag after the first few days? need help if you have!

So i've only had the phone for a few days and started noticing lag mainly in the settings yesterday.
It was buttery smooth the first few days until yesterday. I'll try to create a clear description of what is happening.
Everything in terms of hitting applications, sliding/switching pages, and browsers seems smooth but I'm getting doubts since settings have started lagging. So as of now, the settings menu is where I really notice the problem. What happens is I would press any of the choices such as display, sound, storage, etc and it would light up blue as a sign that I pressed it. Basically, the blue lighting stutters/lags as it turns into a deeper color and fades away proving that there is some lag. That itself is very irritating on such a powerful phone. The page also lags a bit as it's opening so it's obvious that it does lag. I don't understand why something as simple as settings might be causing this?
have any of you guys noticed this? I tried clearing ram, restarting phone, messing with dev options by changing animation and something else to .5x while enabling "force GPU rendering." I'm running stock touchwiz on baseband T889UVALJ1 if that helps. Keep in mind i'm not really tech savvy so try to suggest things in an easy to understand way please.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope you guys can help me fix my problem!
Been using it for the past 1 month plus and I do not have any lagging issues. I am on stock rom as well.
No lag either, been using the Note 2 for 2 months now. Check your apps with BetterBatteryStatts (too many backgroundservices runing).
No lag either. Did u install some crappy apps that run backstage

Thanks for the replies so far and before I spend some money on apps or what not, is there any way I can post a 5 second animation of what is happening? Kind of like a 5 second gif of my screen? A mix of a screenshot and video so like a screen vid? Are there are any apps that can do that(preferably free). I'll try to find an app that can do that in the meantime and will edit if I find something useful.
Edit: No idea what this is or how it ended up on my phone but could this be the culprit? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tgrape.android.radar
People say it's bloatware and s-suggest from samsung but i'm not sure why it would be shown as an app on the play store website
I have noticed the phone can lag a bit if you have a heavy live wallpaper running.
Just sharing my thoughts on this
did you modify anything? no lags on my N2.
normally i'd say if you leave your phone on for a few days in a row, clear the memory every once in a while (press and hold home, go task manager, ram tab, clear memory) or reboot it, just so you dont have anything residual in your ram.
when android sees that you have 2gb of ram, it doesnt auto kill as many apps as it would if you were to have only 1gb of ram (my note 1 autokilled sooooooo frequently that it was annoying), so your ram ends up getting filled with some apps that you only used once in a while.

I wrote that I tried clearing ram and restarting phone but it didn't help. Thanks for trying though
Yeah, I get a bit of lag here and there, specially if I haven't cleared running/background apps in a while.
I just do it from the task manager, and also check out what apps are using the most battery, and possibly therefore are some of the likely culprits.
I actually use this app called Carat, which is an "Energy bug detector app" (whatever that means), but it helps identify apps that are draining the battery, and incidentally, partially contributing to the lag.
Also obvious thing like live wallpapers or touchwiz in general (including all the 'special' Samsung features like smart rotate, smart stay, smart motion) probably add to it to. Nova launcher and a static wallpaper might help.
I'll try to post a video sometime soon showing the lag. It's not serious lag, but it does stutter and lag a decent amount compared to my first few days which is what sucks.

You can try enabling Force GPU rendering in developers options. That usually helps with that, or at least it seemed to in my case. Report back if it actually helped
quick update:
I found a vid and my lag basically looks like this http://youtu.be/0qyijcTeHcU?t=2m27s
Look at when he clicks on display, there is clearly some lag even if it is half a second - 1 second. I'm almost certain that my lag is even worse than that, but not by too much. It's just a pain in the ass after the first few days. Would flashing a custom rom like jedi X 7.2 help out with this since it's running a bravia engine?

Asphalt 8 is out and supports shield!

I have to say this is the first gameloft game that I really like. The graphics run on high and so far it runs smooth.
Great looking game, but it does stutter/lag often on my Shield (especially when all the cars are on screen) I noticed that rebooting the device before playing helps. Does anyone else have this issue? I am sure that Tegra 4 can run this game easily, so maybe Gameloft needs to properly optimize it

My guess by the sounds of it is that you are unaware that android multitasks and have not ever bothered closing apps in the background.... That would explain why rebooting helps first as that would close background apps which would otherwise cause lag.
I actually blame android poorly labelling the "recent apps" button, it actually shows "running" apps, if you open recent apps and swipe an app to the left or right to remove it from the list it closes it (and a few more like steam, dropbox and facebook also run 24/7 but need closing from task manager). There are also android task killing apps and widgets which close all running apps with the exception of system ones and those you specify in a whitelist with 1 press.

Oh trust me, I'm a Android veteran, and know all about killing running task! I do kill all running processes before playing, but I still see some lag. It only seems to run best when the entire Shield is rebooted. I am pretty sure that this is an optimization issue with the game, as I dont have to reboot at all with all the other tegra 4 enhanced games that I have on my Shield.
I just wanted to see if i was the only person having this issue..thanks for replying
Drifting
Is it possible to partially drift with the Nvidia Shield like how you would with your phone? Each time I drift, it doesn't allow you to make a small drift, only large drifts.

Thanks, but if you played this with your standard phone, you use the gyroscope which allows you to either drift/ turn a little or a lot, when I say large drifts I am not referring to the length, sorry for the confusion. So is there anyway to control the turn while drifting?

Use a live wallpaper that Uses the Unity engine, it seems to wake up the CPU/GPU after it goes to sleep which causes both to run at only 60% of the specs.
Nvidia said they were going to look into it, in the Nvidia Shield forums, but there is no ETA on when.
I use the "Andromeda Free Live Wallpaper" would love to put a link to the store but just created the account today so I'm restricted for the time being so search on the Google Play store.

I just saw this tip in the nvidia forums also. Thanks...works like a charm! Very little to no lag now.
I've had a lot of fun with this game as well.
But has anyone noticed any random crashing to homescreen? My first crash was when my battery was getting fairly low, so I was afraid that had something to do with it. But then even after recharging some I got more random crashes. I re-enabled wifi and haven't had a crash since...
That kind of makes me curious what is going on... but I haven't looked into it further yet, so don't mean to raise any alarms.
Throughout all this though it has not corrupted my save data or anything, at least as of yet *knock on wood*. I think it was Asphault 7 that one time I got a phone call in the middle of gameplay and it crashed the game and corrupted my save data >_> I had some backups though, but lost some progress.
~Troop
That's weird. I haven't seen any crashes yet but I haven't played it for extended periods of time yet either.

All games that use onscreen controls should be updated to support joysticks/controlpads either shield/moga/ps3 etc. You know how much better it is to physical controls? Freakin' amazing.

How to leave game open in background

Try this app, it requires root though.

Android will only kill apps when it needs the memory for something else, so you either have too many apps that are forcing themselves open (meaning the game as a background app, and a large ram hog gets killed first), or the game has been built in such a way that it kills itself when its not a focused app (certain games are built like this, the Simpsons Tapped Out is one example).
Here is what I use to keep my Clash of Clans active while my phone screen is off.

If you have root maybe Xposed module app settings can help you.
You can set the "resident" flag to keep the application resident in memory and make it survive to android memory kill.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Battery Saving Tips

A phone even with killer looks and amazing features still needs a descent battery backup to support it all. In past we've seen that a few tricks here and there always tend to increase battery life. Usually that includes disabling a few apps or features. This thread is for specifically targeting such tips & tricks and sharing it all so that S6 Edge+ can live upto its expectations..
1. To start with, lets get to the list of bloatwares that can be safely disabled.
If any of you own the AT&T version, here's a list you can disable:-
AT&T Apps:-
AT&T FamilyMap
AT&T Hot Spots
AT&T Live
AT&T Locker
AT&T Mail
AT&T Mobile Locate
AT&T Mobile Transfer
AT&T Navigator
AT&T Ready2Go
AT&T Smart Wi-Fi
Drive Mode
Caller Name ID
Mobile TV
Plenti
Smart Limits
Yp (Yellow Pages)
Other Apps:-
S Voice
Amazon (I prefer the playstore version for frequent updates)
Amazon Kindle
Device Help
Live Weather (Yahoo)
Lookout
Theme Store
Visual Voicemail
2. Refrain from using any free application that has embedded advertisements. They tend to run threads in background to load adds and thus degrade the app performance and used data (so naturally consume more power too). Either buy add-free version or find an alternate app for same purpose and without adds.
3. Disable notifications from social media/news apps like Facebook, Twitter, Tapatalk, etc. Although, the phone wouldn't be that smart if all the notifications are disabled, however, keep them at bare minimum. Not everybody would be interested in notifications from all the apps, so spend some time analyzing through all the installed apps and their settings to turn off the notifications for the apps you do not need to get notifications for. There are several apps that keep sending notifications and running a thread in background which again checks internet to load the notification content. An example would be games like Candy Crush or Clash Of Clans.
4. Turn off "Send Usage Statistics" or "Help Improve the app performance", "Participate in improvement" etc settings from the app which sends data from your device from time to time which acts as a survey to improve the performance of the app. Although this is a necessary option for a developer, however, if you do not care about your granular contribution towards further development of the app, try deselecting such options while setting up new apps.
5. Refrain from using external Memory Management Apps and RAM Cleaners. They tend to run heavy background services to detect memory usage and kill applications. Trust me, you would be better without them.
6. Try using black wallpaper and lock screen. Also, always select Dark Mode if any app has theme section. This makes the pixels produce less brightness and considerably save more battery.
7. Keep GPS Location off when not using any navigational/location based apps. When the GPS is ON, there are some apps that tend to acquire a GPS Lock even though they can work without it. Keeping GPS Off will not allow such apps to request for GPS Lock. GPS Locking is a battery draining process.
8. You can use certain tools like Greenify, WiFi Automatic, etc. to automatically manage application states or phone wireless to save some additional battery. Use these only if you are lazy like me. Otherwise you can always manually turn on/off wifi/bluetooth/nfc etc etc. Also, there are tools (like Juice Defender) which can enable/disable data connective at a frequent interval which results in really good power conservation without loosing push notification.
With applying most of these settings, I'm getting 6-7 hrs of screen on time very easily even when I've downloaded 1+ GB data and 40 minutes of video chat (hangout). Not to mention the usual gaming and application usage.:cyclops:
I hope that helps. I'll keep adding if I get any (without root).
Reserved for future use!

Tweak brightness.
I believe rooting a phone can improve its battery life. This method works for almost all devices.

I'm sure you mean rooting and installing all sorts of battery saving items/tweaking.
Marely rooting wouldn't bring any difference to battery life for sure!
Just tweak brightness, make sure you getting good signal and use WiFi when available, don't leave Abby of the radio on unless not using it and that shall be good I guess

How can you disable those apps. I'm on T Mobile but we have our share of T Mobile bloat. Would love to disable a bunch of them without customizing my files lol

It's the icon on the lower right corner of the screen that says "Apps". Once you get in there find the app that you want to disable. Long press the icon of the app and drag it to the upper left corner of the screen where it says "Disable". Then when the "Disable" word lights up red just release the app into there.
Check out my screenshot for an example.

Thanks for the listing. I love the new design than S6 edge, hopefully it will last longer as well...
Please tell me a solution if any one knows:
I open facebook and after some time i close this application by click on list tasks soft key and close it. Immediately when I go into setting > application manager > running apps I still see a facebook process running. Technically i guess this should be gone i guess and hence any idea how to clean these which i guess can improve battery life.
Update: If I have notifications turned on in facebook then yes it can still run some process even after I close it in Apps Tab but I see the same with Samsung Music Player i.e after I close it I still see a thread in "Running" Apps.

These kind of apps do tend to run a background process to check for updates. Closing the app doesn't necessarily mean that the processes will close. And I'm not even sure even if you turn off all the notification services of an app, all the related processes will close for sure, it depends. Also, if you are using apps like facebook etc, do not worry much about the battery life if you have turned off the background data usage and notification services. It will have very minimal impact, almost negligible!

Yes it does. Came across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/guide-bloating-touchwizzing-note-5-t3184563 does a good job on mine so far. It disabled around 30 app and i feel it did make a difference. I use the default XML attached

Out of all those 30 apps you disabled did you lose any functionality?

Battery drain issues

I've been experiencing battery drain issues with random apps even after shutting off permissions for those apps and shutting off background activity. These apps have also been added to battery optimization.
I've noticed this happens when I open the app and then shut them down, by swiping away from recent apps screen - verified by reopening the app and it never is in the memory and reloads. But they still continue to drain the battery in the background (as can be seen on the screenshot with battery drainers). Facebook is a usual culprit but not the only one, there is generally a few of them as you can see there are some games too. This pretty much keeps changing to different apps every now and then. I feel I'm doing something wrong which is really causing this drain.. every now and then. Any suggestions / opinions?
Thanks!

To add, I'm on the latest firmware with May security update (the one has been persistent throughout before and even now) ans not rooted.
How many time you do it ? Because it consumes less battery to keep them in memory than to reload all the apps every time you use them.

Just a pointer re Facebook.
Take a look at your System apps in Device /Settings /App category
Look for Facebook... and you will see other 3 x Facebook related
apps also listed ..!
You shut Facebook down but the Facebook Services, Facebook App Manager.. etc...? is still running and suckling battery.?
See my screen snip.
I most probably don't need to remind you that Facebook,
has over the past years, been fingered/known, to drain battery
.
My solution, which you most likely won't l "ike"
is to temporarily disable Facebook and the other Facebook related system apps.
Uninstall the one small Game or both??
and see if there is a improvement ?
Good luck.

I meant I've tried both strategies. Shut them off by swiping them away, letting them be and also shutting off thr app's setting to run in background. Nothing worked really.

That's the issue, Facebook doesn't really bother me but the games (or other apps like Twitter or tiktok or Instagram) do. And it's not always Facebook or these specific games. It's different each day - any apps I more frequently used that day continue to stick there consuming power. Every day it's a different set of apps. But wondering why stick causing a drain!

yes ,
Firstly ,
over the years ,i have been a few times, in similar "position" than you, re apps and battery draining .!
I know it's very frustrating ..annoying .....
and in the end i always ended up doing a factory reset . !!
I use a cross section of a different "set " of tools eg BettterbatteryStats ,Wakelock Detector lite ,Gsam Battery etc . ( all ADB enabled) to try and pinpoint the culprit ..
Unfortunately ,the permutation/reasons can be many ??
eg You installed and uninstalled an app and "something " eg System settings got corrupted .?
You disabled /freezed ,an System app and it has an knock on effect .
You did some mod /hack or maybe a sideloaded app thats causing it ..?
App that you installed that's badly coded .
It also could be that when you did an OTA to latest firmware that something/system ,got corrupted..?
Bottom line ,
You sitting with a very irritating/frustrating issue .
Your options is either to live with it ? or try and find the culprit ?
or doing a factory reset .?
Yes, i know you most likely, don't favor a factory reset.
As stated i always ended up doing a factory,on the spur of the moment !!!
Then doing a clean install from scratch ..a few apps at a time .......
Anyway it's your choice .??
Good luck .

Thanks buddy, you make some really good points. This is the first time ever that I haven't rooted the phone or done anything to disrupt the default OS. All I've done is the ADB permissions required for the GSAM Batteey app tk be able to pill detailed info.
I'm thinking if there's some way to reset all permissions and reconfigure them as the apps require? That has fixed things for me in the past.
Factory reset isn't an easy option for me because of RSA apps configured on the phone otherwise I've got to go through a few calls to get access - sorta irritating.
Hopeful something works but until then I'm letting it be lol.
Thanks!

I understand above if you say factory reset is an issue.!
I have a app call Bouncer paid (Play Store) installed on my device.
Don't think there is a free version, cannot remember, as I've had it for a while.
It basically controls your app permissions.
You can configure it to automatically remove permissions after using relevant app.
Also you can reset permissions.
It might help you.?
You can Google around a and see reviews.
To give you a idea, look at my screenshot.
Sorry, can't give any links, as it a paid app.
Good luck

Purchased the app. Kinda handy, but even after rule once set, when you come out of the app, you need to remove the permissions (the overlay window on top requests for removal) - that sorta adds work opening / closing apps.
My battery issues have improved immensely by putting the Facebook app in deep sleep. Battery life now is pretty decent.
check find my mobile.apk and samsung internet browser.apk if at all installed official apps from apkmirror etc the uninstall that apk and go through galaxy store but in galaxy store dont update findmymobile.apk

I suggest you take another look at your Bouncer settings.
You can auto remove it.
I had it on this setting but, change it to lock notifications, as i had better control.
Also remember to back up your Bouncer settings.
If ever you make a mistake you can just import you permission settings.
I forgot to do this a one stage and had to redo over Bouncer 200 apps.. Permissions...!
Otherwise if not sure as dev of Bouncer, for assistance
Good luck
