Network Band Frequency - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

HI,
I operate a Note Pro 5 in the UK on the plusnet network which uses the following bands / frequency's. I use the global ROM
800MHz band, the 1800MHz band, the 2100MHz band
Iam not having much luck with the 4G speed / connection. Iam wondering if that's because the handset does not work with these bands. No point reformatting my phone only to find out if the phone does not work with these bands !!!
Thanks
Mathew

It should work fine, as they use EEs network. I use virgin mobile that also uses EEs network and its fine. Have you tried amending the APN settings?

Yes you are correct Virgin and Plusnet both run off EE but its not that simple.
EE only allow some bands to be avalible for resale the ones I have listed are what Plusnet use.
You have pointed out something I should have done!!!! I have removed the APN and started from scratch I will try this for a few days and see what happens.

So from what I've read plusnet don't seem to offer the 800mhz frequency (EE/virgin do), but if your Redmi Note 5 is the global version it will work with all UK 4G bands (including 800 or band 20 if its available from your provider). Usually band 20/800mhz travels further and so tends to be used more in rural areas to help improve coverage. Were you connecting to 4g OK before or have you just changed to plusnet or just got your RN5?

Yes I thought that but have had conformation directly from Plusnet that they do use the 800mhz range

@MathewRB
Global version of Redmi Note 5 supports all frequences You mentioned. The only problem is that it doesn"t support carrier agregation (LTE+) which can lead to slow data acces when the transmitter which Your"s phone is connected to is clogged

This really interesting has that problem been resolved with the Note 7 Pro?

@MathewRB
Yes it has. As far as i know Note 7 support LTE+ 2CA and pro version is 3CA

Here You can read more about that

Thats a good bit of information looks like Iam finding more and more of reason (excuse) to upgrade to the 7 Note Pro. But when is the 8Note Pro due to come out any idea?

how to use note 4 sprint on LTE bands 3 and 7 ??

Hello!
I have an unlocked*sprint*note 4 which I use outside the USA as a GSM phone with a sim card.*
So far so good.*
The problem is that this phone being produced forsprint*does not connect on 4G.
I have been reading about the possibility to change the NV values to be able to add LTE bands to the phone and I was able to change those values but still no luck.*
In my country, the 4g network works mostly on bands 3 and 7 (1800 and 2600).*
I am starting to think that probably the*sprint*version might have differences in hardware with other 4G capable phones.
Can anybody tell if there are any hardware differences between the*sprint*note 4 and other note 4 models.
Do you think that the*sprint*note 4 has what its needed to connect on 4G on the above frequencies?
If yes, what might be the right approach to try to resolve this.
Thank you for reading and since this is my first post on XDA please help me!

Unlock Mate SE frequency bands

Is it possible? I'm with MetroPCS and get about 80% of their frequencies but I'm short a few bands. Anyone on the same boat as me?

I'm with T-Mobile and the phone works great with no band issues-even better than my S7 edge Tmo.

I know MetroPCS uses their network. Have you done the frequency check to see if you're getting all their bands, for t mobile I mean? I have attached the bands that the mate supports on Metro but would like to enable the ones that aren't.

I don't think the Mate phone (or any honor 7x version) have the hardware capabilities for band 66 or 71. If the phone was exclusively for T-Mobile, I bet Huawei probably equipped at least their flagships with them. Below you can see all the supported bands from all the Honor 7x versions.
https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_7x-8880.php#l24
For me, even if the phone had either band 66 or 71 dunno if T-Mobile have deployed these frequencies where I live. I either get band 4 or 12 and is incredible fast (100 Mbps download).
ugh i totally want to know how to unlock all those bands
This phone becomes useless when you travel to Europe especially with LTE as major bands used in Europe aren't supported on US models.
this is very frustrating.

How can I find out with certainty that LTE is covered

In my location considering the li ited amount amount of 4G Bands the Mi Max 3 handles? I don't mind using ATT or T-Mobile but I am less then confident relying on their sale person's answers.
Thanks!

I use Cricket which is part of AT&T...so for 3G and LTE, both signals is quite spot on. I just got mly Mix Max 3 yesterday and i switch my sim from another Xiaomi device to give you an idea that Xiaomi Phones can handle that company, but you can go to Tmobile and have them test it out.

Celmapper uses data collected by volunteers using the cellmapper apps for Android and IOS. It will show you LTE and GSM bands used in areas where volunteers have collected data. https://www.cellmapper.net/Index

I have exactly the same question:
According to official Mi Max 3 website:
LTE band support: B1, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20
I just bought a Global version model: M1804E4A:
The user guide indicates band support: 1/3/7/8/20/34/38/40 (Bands 4 & 5 are missing !!??)
WIthout Bands 4 & 5 - I'm guessing I can't get onto AT&T and TMobile ?
ALso is there a code dialler to check what LTE band is being support by model: M1804E4A?
For folks using mi max 3 in USA successfully - may I know what is your model number?
Thanks !!

cool, but has anyone verified if changes in BandMode enable LTE bands? The G90T has the WorldMode modem and is capable of picking up just about every LTE band used throughout the world.

Redmi NOte 8 Pro has big problems with LTE 4G + tape management. The phone does not keep the 4G + it switches and stays in 4G all the time. It's a modem management problem that does not support the double-banding needed for 4G +.
Bests Regards

Hello, could you please specify what kind ofLTE band issues this phone have? I've just ordered Global vers. with 128 GB ROM, where Band 20 (800) is the most important for me, as it is the most frequently used one in Türkiye. It doesn't exist in my Mi5, so hope the signal and speed would be better with Redmi Note 8 Pro.
anyone played around with trying to unlock more bands? pretty sure the modem has the ability to get them all, and is just software locked for one reason or another
Even I go to engineering mode. It still cannot unlock the band 7 / 20.
it seem Chinese version cannot unlock the band.
I hope some expert can do it later and share with us.

what do you mean by "tape management"? If it's a modem management problem, then it is software related. Helio G9T's HAVE the WorldMode modem, what you're describing doesn't make sense and doesn't answer my question.

it's probably a modem firmware issue. the problem is the Helio G90T is only available on the RN8 Pro, so swapping modem firmware from another device isn't happening. I wonder if anyone with the Global variant has tried though.
I have Note 8 pro Global Version and band 7,20 is enable by default.
may work

Question Force enable carrier aggregation outside us.

Hi everyone. Im wondering if this is possible for pixel 6 pro. Basically my unit is direct from us store which is G8VOU. Now im using it in Malaysia and 4g lte works fine.
Now im wondering if carrier aggregation is possible through root. Right now from what see through netmonster it can do 2ca on the same band(check screenshot). I think its aggregating two towers with the same band, i may be wrong though.
Anyone had any idea how to force enable multi band ca? The local sold phone can go up to 5ca which are mainly band 1, 3, 7 ,8. Thanks in advance.
I would also like to know
Is it not 4G+ an indication of currently using carrier aggregation?
Try to download NPerf app and click on speed test button. It will detect your carrier and mention it's currently on 4G+ or LTE-A
Another proof is below when you check in *#*#4636#*#* . Currently my Yoodo is on band 7 and band 3.
And Digi Malaysia only have 1 band which is Band 7
Digi - Malaysia - Wireless Frequency Bands and Device Compatibility
Digi (Malaysia) uses 2 GSM bands, 1 UMTS band, and 1 LTE band. Find out if your unlocked phone or mobile device will work with Digi (Malaysia)

Yes like is said. Mine is at 2ca indicated that im at TWO bands aggregated. Which is way below whats possible. Let me know if you have something that can help instead of just pointing out facts i already stated in the first post. Thanks.

I sometimes have band 3 and 8 as well. Just never 3 or 4ca at a time. Only up to 2ca max.
The modem decides aggregation.
