YES! And it's driving me crazy. My notifications page hasn't been able to refresh for a week now - just giving me an error stating it's unable to retrieve data, etc. I get a similar error message whenever I scroll down the news feed awhile. I am a newbie, but I have been reading up and it seems that Facebook for Android is just utter CRAP. I use Facebook a lot and am very disappointed with paying $400 for a phone and not being able to do something that was SO EASY on my iPhone. I use the browser sometimes for Facebook, but what a pain! I still don't get alert notifications - I get my Gmail alerts first! ACK!
Search Facebook in the Android Market and install.. it should let you. Fixed my friends phone last night with the same issue a few days after he bought it new.
Just make sure you hit refresh because the app will still be open, so afte rinstall or before install, kill it and then go back.

[Q] Facebook Push Notifications FIXED!!

I was wondering if anyone who is running Synergy RLS1 ROM has working Facebook Push Notifications? If so could you help me in getting them to work? I have never had push notifications working on my phone and would like to pin point why it works on some EVO's and not others.
Edit: After doing some research on Google I stumbled upon this page that explains that having "Facebook for Blackberry Smartphones" in your app list on Facebook your push notifications will work. So I found someone who still uses a Blackberry (wasnt easy) and all I had to do was log into my Facebook on their phone and enable notifications and wait for my news feed to load. Then I just logged out. Went on my computer and sure enough the "Facebook for Blackberry Smartphones" appeared in my App list under account settings. Then on my EVO I just cleared the Facebook app data and logged in again and sure enough my Push Notifications were working. I have cleared the data before and it never worked so I dont know why having the Blackberry thing makes it work but it has for me. No more flooding my gmail inbox with Facebook crap... Please feel free to try this and post if it works for you.
The Facebook for Android app just sucks. I don't think anyone has done anything specific to get push notifications to work on their phone - some do, some don't.
You can set up push notifications through Friendcaster using your Gmail or something. I haven't actually done it because I don't use Facebook very often, but I know that the option is there. You can try that out.

I can tell this, it wasn't working when I was on stock froyo, not working still with what I have now. I don't think the FB devs are able to test it on all phones and roms, but then again, I don't think they pay much attention to bug reports. I must have sent them one report everytime they update that notifications are broken.
Friendcaster's a neat replacement, though.

Oh this one's going to be easy over here. More bb users than droids. Lol.
I'll try the workaround. Thanks!

[Q]Facebook/Android shady practices??

I usually pay no attention to the "People you may know" section of Facebook. Today, I looked through some of them and noticed a few of my recent customers, who I have no possible connection to, outside of selling them a car, on the list. No mutual friends, no stored contact information. I suppose I should check the permissions of Facebook, as I'm sure it has to do with recent calls. Is there a way to keep this from happening? I don't want all my customers trying to add me because I keep popping up as someone they may know.

Facebook has been doing that for years.
Here is how to remove them.
https://www.facebook.com/contact_importer/remove_uploads.php?r=/phonebook
Additionally, go into the Facebook app settings and under sync, make sure it's set to only sync existing contacts, not sync all.
I did this a few years ago and have never had that issue again.

Twitter Mobile Notification Errors

Just got my Note Edge and I'm really enjoying it.
I use Twitter a lot and really like the Twitter push notifications.
When I log into the Twitter app and set up my mobile notification settings the way I want them, I get an error when I close the settings. I've attached a photo of the error that I get.
I've tried restating the phone, Uninstalling the app... nothing works.
Can someone help me?

Exchange E-Mail App / Push

Hallo Guys,
can someone of u recommend a simple Email App with Push notification Support?
I used the Basic Email App which was shipped with custom Roms before.. but since Android Nougat Push notifications doesnt Work Most of the time and its Overall Buggy.
Now i tried aquamail but the Push function doesnt Work with my Exchange Microsoft Live Account.
What app are U using?
And no... I dont want to use Gmail. Since it sucks and doesnt offer Push aswell...
Would be awesome if the all also sync contacts... The Outlook App isnt that reliable IMO. Since it also have Problems with syncing very often...
Cheers
I had run into a similar problem. Ended up using "mail wise" from the play store. Worked well, but it had ads and all that garbage unless you pay for it. I had my phone rooted and had adaway on, so the ads didn't really bother me all that much. But we just moved to mobileiron at work and now can't figure out a way around it (yet).

Was using Cloudmagic (now Newton) but it's pretty garbage now with all the important features needing paid subscription. So I switched to Bluemail. Ad-free and supports push notification.
