Stripes on the screen

Did anyone notice that the screen has these criss-crossing stripes on it? They're only visible at a certain angle against strong light source.
Not saying it's bad or anything, just wondering what it is and what it does.
i noticed this too, like you said against string light. be interesting to know its use..
It´s the capasitive sensing grid
yea thats just the way that the touchscreen works out where your finger(s) is/are. It was alot more visible on the G1.

LG Optimus/Swift 7

Does anybody here use this phone?
SOrry for noob question but does it support video calling?
Or WP7 does not support it ATM?
And what are these 3 sensors in front of it?
No WP7 device currently has video calling. The lens you're seeing is probably the proximity sensor, which detects if your face is up to the phone and shuts off the screen so you don't accidentally press something.

Yeah but there are 3 there. Two similar and one deeper looking like camera.....
I have the Optimus 7 and it doesn't have a camera at the front. None of the WP7 devices out there has a front facing camera and I guess that's because video calling isn't supported.

One will be a proximity sensor, one will be a light sensor for automatic brightness and no idea on the third.

Why does the dot view case have a front cam hole

Why does the dot view case have a front cam hole if you can't take pictures with the case folded on. Is the government watching us lol.
Why can't somebody post questions in the Q&A section ?

It's the NSA watching us btw
The hole isn't for the camera, but the sensors. Because they're not covered they're still functional and it can adjust the brightness of the screen, even in dot view mode
Perhaps reporting thread to be moved to Q&A would be an idea? No? ?

Shh its a glory hole
Then again the sensors are all accelerometer based or tap based so he does raise a good question

Yea except for the ambient light sensor (and maybe proximity too?). But still, the hole seems to uncover both those 2 sensors and the camera, and why the camera is uncovered is indeed a mystery... Maybe aesthetics?
I have also noticed that the images of the dot view HTC officially uses on their site only has a hole for the sensors, not camera... Yet the real thing has a bigger hole? See attachment

Light painting flipped

Just tried out light painting mode on the camera and noticed the image is flipped/ mirror. This is using the rear camera..
Is this the expected behavior or a bug?

i light painting, there are 4 sub modes... light graffiti is the only one that is flipped. i am guessing they worry when ppl write letters with light, it might be opposite, hence image is flipped/ mirror...
so, i guess need to be careful what is the selected mode when using this light painting. i didn't notice the sub-modes until much later.

bug or feature... no idea. i guess those using light graffiti need to take note and write like normal.
actually, i can test on the P9 that i have... heh heh... just to confirm if it's the same on P9. update later...

It looks like a feature then. Update us with the P9 results.

managed to finally test with p9.. and.. ya, it's also flipped for graffiti painting. so I guess it's a feature.. and I can see why though I don't necessarily agree.. if a person looking at the camera when doing like painting, then ya, flipping image might then make the alphabet look "correct". but I'm the type that write "correctly" when doing this.. so flipping the image means my alphabet is no longer correct..
but.. I'm ok with it I guess. just good info to know.. plus, make sure you know which sub mode you're using.. coz if you left it at graffiti painting when you wanna capture traffic, then image is flipped/ mirror..

Question 4 pixels

Hi,
Can anyone else see 4 pixels light up when the fingerprint scanner fails to detect fingerprint while being in whatsapp call?
I have attached video of it with 4 pixels lighting up on left
Yeah I've seen it before. Pretty sure it's some kind of sensor under the display. If you are on a white screen, and look closely, you can actually see them.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Does it happens on yours too? I raised it with Samsung support and they are asking me to send the phone to them to check.

Yeah it happens on mine too. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.
I believe it is the underscreen proximity sensor checking if it is an accidental touch or not
