Pixel 3a XL and Spotify - Google Pixel 3a XL Questions & Answers

Can anyone with spotify on this phone tell me if you are able to download music to your device. I paid for spotify premium but I am unable to download any songs to my device. I am able to download all the songs I want to my Nexus 6 using same spotify account.
I have tried multiple restarts, uninstall reinstall and no luck.
I am starting to think that Magisk is ruining my phone's performance.

Running on beta 4, and it's working fine for me

Does Spotify have issues with root? I've never had issues. While I haven't rooted this device, my OnePlus 6T, Moto Z2 Force, Nexus 9, and other devices have all been rooted and I never had to enable magisk hide to use Spotify or anything

Do you have Spotify premium and try to download music locally on your phone? That was the issue the OP had, and apparently hiding it in Magisk solved his issue. He wasn't having playback or transport issues........

I do have premium and I've always been able to use it just fine and downloading music hasn't been an issue for me. Unless it's a more recent update, I haven't seen this issue before. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if Spotify has begin to insert root detection in their app to prevent music downloading

Not able to download/update apps from Play Store.

I got my Honor 8 Pro exactly 1 week ago and just yesterday I started having this issue where I'm not able to download and update apps from the Play Store.
When I click 'install' button it says downloading but nothing really happens. I have tried clearing the cache & data, restarted the phone and all sorts of things, but it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone else having this problem?
__________
EDIT:
Issue fixed : uninstall truecaller, use Honor 8 Pro's stock Launcher and restart phone. No idea why this happens but at least it's fixed.
Maybe your Google Play Services just received an update. That's what happens when it updates.

Tapzo was the culprit app, had to delete it and clear cache etc, started working ok now.
This might help:
Go to settings - Advance settings - Backup and Reset- Network settings reset
Should resume downloads.
In some cases, uninstalling truecaller and/or tapzo might help
What worked for me was uninstalling Play Store, and downloading the latest Google Play Services and Play Store apks from apkmirror.

Yes this works for me all time
Uninstalling truecaller and rebooting the phone indeed worked, but on installing truecaller again the playstore install/update issue is back.
Any one has a better solution? I'm not able to use truecaller and playstore together.

Temporary solution after lots of logs sent to R&D team.
Go to Settings- battery - lock screen clean up.
Untick all apps (Close all option must be greyed out).
Switch on Airplane Mode for 15 seconds . Turn it off.
Turn on WiFi and downloads should resume automatically .
The issue got resolved after B140 update. No more apps update/download pending issue.
So they were able to fix it.
Have you tried clearing the Cache files in the internal storage and rebooting your device? Sometimes that will solve your issue.

Google Play Music - Download Issue - 8.0

I installed via the OTA 8.0 and performed a factory reset after the install. As I go back through and put my music library back on my device, it appears Google Play Music stalls out at different times during the download. I have Google WiFi, +200mbps WiFi and no breaks in my WiFi connection. I have attempted to do it the Apple way by not allowing the device to lock to keep the app active but it still is stalling out.
Appears to be an app issue but wondering if anyone has a fix I should look at? Thanks!

I've had similar issues in the past with Google Play Music. Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it? Are you using an ad blocker?

Apps won't use fingerprints to authenticate on PXL

Hey guys, is anybody experiencing issues with fingerprints in apps to authenticate? For example, keeper, a password manager can use fingerprints refuses to use it even it's enabled, the other one is American Express app gets stuck when enable. Fingerprint is enable on the XL and works flawlessly to unlock the phone.
My setup is PXL, Oreo stock with October sec, rooted, Magisk 14.2, Busybox v1.27.2, ElemtalX 2.02 kernel.
Any ideas why is that?
Tx guys!

I'm thinking it is the apps themselves. I haven't had a problem with lastpass or any of my banking apps.

I'm using LastPass, USAA, and PayPal with fingerprint fine on my Pixel XL under 7, now 8. Must be the apps.

They've worked on my 6P with the same setup before switching to the PXL. I have wiped them with no avail. Also I just tried the Play store to use fingerprint when purchasing it FC, hmm!

I encountered a strange issue just yesterday, where the play store would hang when trying to update my apps. But once I explicitly hid my root access from the play store using suhide, it worked fine.
Have you tried anything like that, or duplicated the problem not rooted? I'm also on Oreo October patched.

SU Hide is enable for me and passing SafetyNet. I have added them to the Root Hide option in Magisk Manager, no avail. I think full wipe and unroot and use them to see is this is root related later.

Question Detach youtube from play store

Hi, tried Temifi and the detach module from magisk, both detach the app from the store, but after a day youtube is again in the store.
How can I detach youtube forever?
Reason is to avoid vanced youtube doing any updates. as play store swicht to auto updates again after a couplel of days
thanks
Play store never switched auto updates for me, only updating apps then it really needed for app proper work
This was driving me nuts. Eventually just disabled yt in apps and downloaded the non-root vanced, been like this for months without a problem.
Thanks, will try the non-root vanced.
@bugac.
this is strange for me, I disable updates each 3 days but its goes back to auto update by it selfs, dont know why

Use detach module and tasker to do this for root method
Right now I am using the non root version, think this is doing the same job as the rooted one.
But strage that the play store change updates by it selfs...

I debloat with terminal debloater. YouTube and YouTube music first. Then use detach module for the same 2 apps. Tasker runs every 30 min to restart playstore taking the off the update list
Ok, thanks for the hint
I there someone else with this issue about play store and auto switch to updates? it might be I got some issues with the play store on my phone. I cleared the cache already, but still the same.
thanks
Today i receive notification from youtube... Wtf ?!?.
I never use it!
I Never sign in youtube ! Creapy google log me in?
I would like to uninstall them but i'm not unlocked/rooted.
Detached module only worked temporarily for me, and I don't like non-root Vanced. The only effective solution I've found is using TeMeFi app to detach from play store. It's persistent and works flawlessly.
Tried TeMeFi as well, but after a few restart its in play store again. Doesn't work for me

Question Has anyone successfully gotten any streaming apps to work on AA?

As per the thread title, has anyone successfully gotten any of the streaming apps to work on Android Auto that has root? I was thinking that I would be able to get it working once I had root but that's not the case. I can get them working on my Galaxy or LG devices (both unrooted) just fine but not on my pixel which has root
Android 12 and recent AA versions seem to break screen mirroring apps. Haven't tried CarStream or similar.

I haven't been able to get anything working including car stream, fermata, car tube. Absolutely nothing is working. I was hoping someone here has figured out the trick with having root to make it happen

Did you properly set up Zygisk (-> Enforce Denylist)? And set up Universal SafetyNet Fix?
I do not use Androidauto, but all the apps I'm using (banking, security, google pay etc) work without a problem once Zygisk is properly set up.
Yes but it's not likely a safety net thing though
The stream2auto and AA Tweaker threads have some clues. But I've not tried them myself.
I've been able to recently get stream2auto working for one day by uninstalling AA and installing version 6.9.613744. Lost it next time I tried to use it. Also needed to clear app data for AA and Google Play services. This is due to a combination of AA and Google Play Services doing their best to remove third party apps from AA.
I've seen some suggestions for using LuckyPatcher to rename screen2auto. Also seen some for detaching AA from the playstore, but have not tried those for a more permanent. Read through the links posts/threads for more insight.

Screen2Auto and AAStream suddenly started working for me. You still have to install with AAEase or AAAD.
Android Auto 7.3.120444

Lucky you. I was able to get those to install and both show up in AA but fc when trying to launch. AA 7.1.614574. will try updating to that version and see but I'm not optimistic.
Interestingly enough yesterday when I started AA I got that warning that happens every so often where AA doesn't start and makes you have to stop and agree to the terms again and everything started working again. Idk if it's just luck or there's something to it but what I did was used AAAd to download catstream 2.05 and the AA Aio tweaker app to patch catstream and it works... For now
