Which Version of A70 Works on Tmobile USA? - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

There are 2 versions of the A70 I saw. The A705M and the A705FN. Which one works best on tmobile without any issues?

Bump

This is the 1 I am using on tmobile. No issues at all

I don't think the A705FN has the correct bands

No, I usually don't mess around too much with roms. Just know that since this is the international model it doesn't have Samsung Pay. At least in the US

Very cool. But I forgot to ask you a something. The aspect ratio on the phone is narrower than older phones with aspect ratios of 16:9. I like the older phones with those wider displays. I got2 questions...
1) Can you recommend a current 2019 phone with wider displays with 16:9?
2) Is the a70 wide enough in your opinion?

Believe me, I am no expert. I think for the price, with the A70 you are getting a bargain. Nothing else besides the OP7 Pro has a screen as big, but even that is almost twice the price

I'm using the SM-A705MN/DS on Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) with no problems.
I'm the same as you...I greatly prefer 16:9 phones. Unfortunately there aren't many available these days. The Razer 2 is one but the screen is overall too small for me. I specifically bought the A70 because it is a little wider than some of the other phones like the 6T. I also have a Mate 20 X which is much wider but also much bigger overall (actually too big....great phone though). I'd prefer a phone a little wider than the A70 but it's still much better than many of the others. Hope that helps.

Hey dude. You said you own the mate 20X. I was actually thinking of getting that phone instead of the a70. But you also said the mate 20X is too big. So I assume its hard to fit in your jean's front pocket. I also assume you prefer the a70's size to the size of fhe mate 20X.
I'm crushed between the a70 and mate 20x. Could you give me more details as to their size differences and how you came to choose the a70 over the mate 20X? And which do you recommend for me given my size preference and your experience with both of these phones?

The 20 X fits in my pockets fine. For me, size is an issue with just using the phone....it's really big. I prefer the Mate 20 X over the A70 in almost every way except size and weight. The 20 X is faster, has real dual speakers, unbeatable battery life (the A70 is very good with battery too so far), and also has a great AMOLED screen (A70 is slightly better in my opinion). Oh yeah, the 20 X also has a fingerprint sensor that actually works.
Having said all that, the 20 X is just slightly too big for me for everyday use. I had a regular Mate 20 (not the pro) before buying the 20 X and should have kept it. It's very similar in width to the A70 (it's shorter than A70) and has similar performance to the 20 X. I almost bought another regular Mate 20 but with all the stuff going on with Huawei lately I decided to try the A70 instead.
This website (https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Samsung-Galaxy-A70,Huawei-Mate-20-X/phones/11160,11027) shows them side-by-side and layered which makes it easy to really compare the sizes.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Plus you have to be careful with which screen you get with the 20X. I know they had issues with the screens from one of the makers. It had green bleed or something like that

Btw what do you think of the a80 with the auto flip cam? I wanted to buy this phone originally. But since I couldnt find it on ebay or amazon for USA I decided finally to order the a70.

Either they have the wrong model # listed or you bought the wrong model # The model from the seller on ebay has these bands
4G bands LTE band B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B7 B8 B12 B13 B17 B20 B28 B66
The model you are showing me has these bands
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)
The model you bought has 1 LTE band for tmobile 5
The model I bought has 4 bands 2,4,5,12 for tmobile
I would refuse delivery and buy a model that at least has 2,4,5,12.

This is as big as they get.... but to answer your question
1. not really off the top of my head.
2. no I wish it was bigger and definitely wider. (I"m a big guy i'd honestly go for a 7" to a 7.2" phone)

Ok now I'm very confused. You said you bought the one from amazon and works fine. But scottsonj says its the wrong one and to deny delivery. But the amazon link shows its the model a705m which is the most compatible a70 in usa for tmo of all the a70 versions. That's where I'm very confused about.
I asked scottsosnj for a link from where he got his. Still waiting.

This is the one i bought off of Amazon.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RWFC6NY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Works great on T-mobile in the USA.
T-Mobile uses 2 4 5 12 66 and 71
This A70 has 1 2 3 4 5 7 8 12 13 17 20 66
So far I'm having no issues. FYI they did send me a SM-A705MN/DS, not a SM-A705GM/DS (I'm unaware of any differences between them)
I know the global SM-A705F/DS, SM-A705FN/DS are the ones to stay away from.
In response to scottsonj issue..... Maybe they sent him the wrong model? one other reviewer on there claimed to got a SM-A705FN/DS not the M or MN
I hope this helps you.

Hey man.. this is the same exact one I ordered from amazon. So I should be good on tmo. But I may switch to spectrum which uses verizon's network.
You said before that you wish the a70 were wider. I'm now having second thoughts about ordering the a70. Now thinking about the 20x.

best deal at gearbest

I am a little confused here.
Both TD and gear best carry the 1 pro. Gearbest shows that the phone has band 7 (2600) and until today, tiny reflected that as well.
6 days after ordering from tinydeal, I have received an email from them stating the phone does NOT support band 7. Every other seller and device specification site says bands 3&7 are supported.
Finding official documentation has been a bit of a daunting task.
Advice, anyone?
I'm kind of confused about the phone, too. There seem to be three models floating around in stores, a regular one with bands B1/B3/B7/B38/B39/B40/B41, one with B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B12/B17/B25/B26, and an International one with different bands listed as well. Yet the manufacturer only seems to list the B1/3/7/38/39/40/41 model. Is this true? Does the second model I listed with B2/4/5/17 have full AT&T LTE support in the US?
Im really not sure. Too many conflicting reports. I think I'm going to cancel my order in the morning. I asked about the bands on the official tech support Le forum, and they referred me to their Hong Kong forum while completely dodging the question.
Update: A forum moderator sent me to the 'official' sales site here: http://cn.lemall.com/le_1pro/parameter.html
Three variants listed. All three have the same FDD-LTE bands of 1/3/7
In today's email from tinydeal they told I that the phone ordered supports B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B12/B17/B25/B26.
I'm kinda torn now.. at under $200 it's not a huge risk.. But I'm already kinda tired of dealing with the crap of finding just the basics on this device. How much harder will it be when I have it in hand and need to do something more advanced?

I just received mine from Coolicool today. Popped in my Cricket sim card and LTE Discovery lists me as being connected to Band 17 right now. This must be an updated model, as it appears that the newly listed bands are correct. Maybe this is a sign that they're actually moving forward with releasing the phone in the US? If anyone suspects that LTE Discovery might be wrong, please point me to a better utility.
For the record, I purchased mine from Coolicool. As of today, all of the other models have been removed (the two with the different bands listed and the international version) and this is the sole model up for sale. It won't allow me to post a link because I'm new here, but it's the featured product on the upper right side of the screen.

The option is missing from the first menu. The second menu says CDMA and has a box you can check. I have no way of knowing what it did or if it works, as I don't live in an area that using Band 20. All I know is that I'm definitely getting Band 2 and 17, which haven't been available up until this new batch started shipping out apparently. The specs on the site I bought from specifically says no Band 20 support, so I'm guessing this doesn't work.

I cancelled the order, ordered another from gearbest that did indeed work on bands 3&7 ( 7 being the important one for me - Free mobile in central France). Sold it after a couple days because the phone was just too damned big and the software was a mess.
Actually thinking of buying another one as a spare. My Nexus 5 did something wonky yesterday and I don't want to have it fail and get caught in a situation where I don't have a phone.

No, I decided not to order another one. I thought I could get past my dislike of 5.5 inch phones, but just too big for daily use for me. 5.2 inch seems to be the sweet spot, so that's where I'm focusing my attention at the moment - though that is presenting it's own set of challenges.
I'm using a nexus 5 at the moment. I would like a little better battery life and a little larger screen, but I'm not dying for a new phone at the moment.
If I do find myself in a spot where I have to replace my phone and I can't find a 5.2 inch that checks all the boxes (big one being budget), I'll probably just stick with a 5 inch phone.
Right now the top two are the xiaomi mi4c and the huawei p8.
I would rather go with an Mi5 or P9 but they're out of my price range.

I don't think an official international version exists. At least thas what I gathered from talking to some LeTv support people on their forums. Everything sold outside of HK/China and India is considered gray market, as far as I can tell.

Mate 20 X 5G Final Specs Emerge [Disappointing!]

I have been waiting to get my hands on the Mate 20X 5G model for a while. It is now becoming more widely available around the world (Kuwait, UAE, Finland, Switzerland and China and the UK by the end of July as the T-ban has been partially lifted, Lol). Here are all the key differences between the ORIGINAL version and the 5G variant and some are very disappointing. I think I will skip this version and wait for the Mate 30X or the Mate X.
In the meantime, if anyone has bought the new 5G model, you can update the thread with more information.
Model Number: EVR-N29 International Version/EVR-N00 Asia Version
THE GOOD NEWS:
Networks: 2G-4G on original vs 2G-5G SA/NSA on the 5G model
RAM: 8GB identical to the memory size of the China version with 8GB/256GB
ROM: 256GB identical to the memory size of the China version with 256GB/8GB
GooglePlayStore: Included on the original International model vs also included on the 5g model (except the Asia variant which does not include GooglePlayStore)
Charging: 40W Super Charge vs 22W Super Charge on the original.
Wireless Charging: Included (according to unboxing videos online, but not 100% confirmed) vs Not Included on any of the Original variants
Colour: Emerald Green vs 2 colours on the original (Good for some and possibly bad for some)
NOW THE BAD, THE REALLY BAD NEWS:
Battery: 4200mAh vs 5000mAh on the original
Headphone Jack: No Headphone Jack vs the Original with the Headphone Jack and 3.5mm headphones (5g model comes with Type C headphones)
Speakers: Single Stereo Speaker only (top speaker has been removed) vs Dual Stereo Speakers on the original variants
Damn so many downgrades.
Wont be surprised if the the reason is to put 5g antennas.
I wouldn't change the Mate 20 X for the 5g variant for only one reason : Stereo Speakers... Dangg, this phone is loud ! ?

I'd wait for 30 X (hopefully there will be one). 5G will take at least a year or two to become universal.
High price in Germany, it will be €1000. Also ''NOW THE BAD, THE REALLY BAD NEWS''

any news if it can be rooted - flashed ? tnx
is the 5G varient going to be any faster than the EVR-AL00 model with 8/256, when it comes to daily use, or is it going to be the same speed but. just be faster when it comes to surfing the web/ downloading content and streaming? Cause if my daily useage is getting improved then I may step up but, if im not seeing an improved when it comes to using the phone other than that then ill just stick to the OG version.

Totally agree. With these spec reductions and the crazy price tag, we are better off waiting for (hopefully) a Mate 30X with Android or ArkOS or whatever it may be called(BTW, I like the new camera setup on the Mate 30 Pro that has been shown on some renders this week)
If Mate 30X is not released in time, I will just wait for Microsoft to (hopefully) release the Surface phone in January with Android compatibility and the Hybrid Windows 10 OS for mobiles. That I think would be the ultimate phone setup. This I think would be the most credible chance for Microsoft to remain relevant in the mobile space again and offer a good alternative to IOS and Android systems.

is the 5G varient going to be any faster than the EVR-AL00 model with 8/256, when it comes to daily use, or is it going to be the same speed but. just be faster when it comes to surfing the web/ downloading content and streaming? Cause if my daily useage is getting improved then I may step up but, if im not seeing an improved when it comes to using the phone other than that then ill just stick to the OG version.
Daily use (speed etc…) should be the same as the only addition is a 5G modem (simply for accessing 5g SA/NSA bands) and the removal of some really important features such as the 3.5mm jack, reduction in battery size and the removal of the top speaker. If you can live with these then I would say then you can step up but I would say if 5g is not really important then wait until Mate 30x or another alternative comes. Don't forget IFA 2019 is just around the corner and other brands that are aware of Huawei's success with the original Mate 20x may want to tap into its success model. I must say I had my hopes high for the Mate 20X 5g but now my only option is to either go for Mate X as my first 5G phone or wait for Mate 30x which should have integrated CPU with 5G in-built unlike the 2 chips that are separately positioned on the new Mate 20X 5G. Due to the space management, Huawei appears to have made some serious compromises.
Personally, with 5g rolling out, I would want my next phone to be 5g so that I don't have to think about changing my phone for the next 2-3 years at least. Then hopefully 5g and folding phones will be more common.

The biggest problem in the end could be if this variant will result to be impossible to root or flash with lineageOS IMHO...
Is the china al00 5g or not 5g
Also: will there be soon a separate thread in the forum or will it be in common with the non 5G Mate X 20?

The Only 5G Models are:
EVR-N29 International Version 5G Comes with GooglePlayStore/Google Services Preloaded
EVR-N00 Asia Version 5G No GooglePlayStore/Google Services
The above models are only offered in 8GB/256GB RAM/ROM combinations and only offered in Emerald Green Colour and has 5G printed on the back cover.
All other models/variants are NOT 5G. For example; EVR-L29 is the 6GB/128GB for international markets, EVR-AL00 is the China Version with no GooglePlayStore and is offered in 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants.

Question Rootable S22 available in the US?

I know the S22 variant made for the US market does not have an unlockable bootloader. But is it possible to buy a rootable S22 that will work with a Verizon SIM? Order it from overseas maybe?
yeah you can get a Korean 908N version on eBay with a very reasonable price. I got mine several days ago.

Awesome, thanks. I wasn't sure which country to look for. I prefer a pocket-sized phone and it looks like SM-SS901N is the small one and it's readily available.
I'm still running SABS on my old S9 (installed before Samsung killed it) and I was afraid I'd have to switch to a Pixel to get root, but the smallest Pixel 6 is bigger than I want. The small S22 from South Korea seems like a perfect choice.

No problem at all. I always got the Korean Variant instead of US one. Works for me all the time. I just didn't understand why they didn't provide an option of unlockinh BL on US variant. I feel like it's not even necessary.
are you looking for exynos or snapdragon? there is a large performance and compatability difference. Hong Kong and Singapore are where I got my last two phones from, bootloader unlockable snapdragons.
I'd have to say Snapdragon, which is also the South Korea variant (I'm guessing this is why it's popular for US buyers). Would there be any reason to consider an Exynos for use in the US? According to the reviews I've read, performance & battery life on the Exynos vary between meh and unusably awful.

Hello, may I ask what carrier you're using this with in the US? On Ebay, it says that it doesn't work with Verizon (due to CDMA).
I'm aware that Verizon does a little bit more than CDMA these days, but their base is still CDMA from what I understand. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that. I have 3. Looks like 5G won't work. Wish I had seen this before.
It looks like it will work on a 5G network, but not everywhere ..

Thank you sir. I guess I don't have much option but to stick with 3 since I renewed a 24 months contract less than two months ago. Plus I am indoors most of the time.

Question Slovak sim card

Would T-Mobile locked phone work with Slovak T-Mobile sim card?
Can you please clarify:
Where ( region/country) are you intending to use the phone. It feels like it's going to be in the country the SIM is from, is that right?
I ask as it maybe easier and less headache to convert the phone to a different region.
Im sure someone with my more knowledge and experience maybe able to help you more than it have.
I want use it in Slovakia with Slovak sim card.
If T-Mobile is your carrier in Slovakia, then yes it will work. You can verify this at a T-Mobile store just to make sure with the added assurance!
Seller from AliExpress said everything works perfect no problem don't vory and guy from TMobile Slovakia said we don't know but better buy phone from us

Only problem with buying from AliExpress, you can't be 100% sure that you will get what is described on the website. I have heard from some in these forums ordering from different websites that what they actually got was different from what was described. So yes, ordering from TMO would be best, but one way or another with the support of everyone here in XDA, you should be OK either way.

its ok. in EU always from oneplus.com.
1. In Slovakia we don't have offers like in USA. 2. I don't pay 1000€ for phone. 3. I buyed 4 phones from AliExpress without any problems, 1Poco 2Xiaomi and 1 OnePlus 6 that I use fourth year till now. 4. With this OnePlus 9 pro's is the biggest problem that people don't read full description and then are surprised when they become TMobile USA locked phone. 5. Mi question was would this phone work with Slovak sim card?
If you genuinely trust the buyer and that you're 100% confident you're going to receive a genuine TMO (le2127), then the choice is yours.
I feel that people are saying it maybe beneficial for you to buy directly OnePlus 9 Pro (EU) LE2123 (Global), LE2121 (India), LE2120(China)
As there could be a chance the seller has bought the phone from another region and converted it to TMO.
All I'm saying is be confident, ask for a picture of the box ( IMEI scrubbed out ), look for the phone model number, ask for a clear photo of the back of the phone, look for the model number at the back near the base of the phone.
The other benefit if you buying direct from OnePlus is you get a full 3 years warranty.
I agree with AndyC76, otherwise the phone should work with Slovakia TMO SIM card on TMO service.

I ordered new OnePlus 9 12/256 from TradingShenzen... But they sent a badly refurbished one with no original battery cover and also the camera lens was out of the phone when I opened the box.. Also, other lenses had fingerprints on lenses from the inside. Previously I ordered from there mi 11 ultra and 2 times it was a scam.. dust under the lens and so on.. so I do not recommend buying this from Chinese anymore. Buy it from oneplus site or for example, I bought OP 9 pro 8/128GB from here in Slovakia for 467€ from nay...
