brightness problem - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

My note 8 brightness always goes to max, even when I turn off adaptive brightness, it turns back on and brightness goes to max.

this is a known issue that samsung is not doing anything about. I wont buy another note......
Try the YAAB app, this seems to actually work, and it shuts off the auto brightness built into the note 8!

I never had that kind of problem and you're actually the first person I've ever seen say anything about the brightness. In any case I'm not buying another Samsung either because I'm tired of the locked down phone B.S. and being told what we can and can't do with our phones and not to mention they made fun of other companies for removing the headphone jack and here they went and apparently removed it on the Note 10 that's coming out next month.. I'm going to find a different phone!!

I ONLY bought the note for the stylus. I use my phone for work and people hate signing service agreements with their finger, but I'm with you. I avoided for years. I'll probably look at the Pixl when I'm ready for a new phone.
Oh, no brightness problem here, either

That's why I bought the phone anyway myself for the stylus and work but at this point I've pretty much had it with Samsung and their locking our phones down.. Frankly I can't understand how they're able to take Android and lock it down like this because it's open source software and locking it down makes it like it's their own software! Lately I don't find myself using the stylus anymore I actually haven't taken it out in about a month now so it's really not important as it uses to be.. I'm actually looking at the pixel and oneplus for now but I haven't settled on anything specific yet.

This is what I'm thinking about going for.. Either one of these two phones in this video. https://youtu.be/SNl8lP3roEo

I would go for the one plus if it worked on Verizon. Also will look at pixel 4 before I buy the note 10, especially if the note 10 is missing an sd card, that would be the end of me using samsung phones. I'll take performance, pen, samsung pay and sd card over root, but if you remove sdcard from note and both have similar cpu, then it's an easier switch.

Bro, they definitely took the headphone jack away from both of the Note 10s!! Not only that but they took the SD card away from the 6.3 Note 10 but they put it in the 6.8 Note 10.. I guess they just lost another customer because I definitely won't be paying them for a dongle to use my expensive headphones!! They're freaking being more and more like Apple I swear!! There's definitely some other phone's out there now that can easily compete with Samsung now! Bye bye Samsung!!

The first Note 10 IS missing the SD card slot!! They said they took it away to save "space" but if you want the SD card you have to fork over more money for the more expensive 6.8 Note 10 but I'm not doing it screw Samsung now!!

Dude, I had a customer today with a brand new Samsung and all the apps were on the desktop. There was no app drawer. Maybe there’s an option for a one, I don’t know. These things are getting to be too damn expensive anyhow.

I'm bothered by the fact that they bashed Apple for removing the headphone jack and they even made videos making fun of Apple and mocking them for doing it but NOW if you go try to look for any of those videos you won't find them anymore because Samsung took the videos down! I just realized something after I noticed a 2 1/2 inch section of my screen has burn in already! I had the screen replaced about a year ago because of the burn in issue affecting the colors at the bottom half of the screen.. It seems to me like Samsung's capable of making it so the screens only last a certain amount of time and then they start suffering from the screen burn in problems! I noticed on my mom's phone that I bought her, the screen has not been replaced at all and I looked at it today while fixing something for her and the screen burn in was unbelievable and ALL over the entire screen and I could even see the keyboard when it wasn't even open!! I'm thinking they do this on purpose to make us either upgrade or buy another screen out of warranty! There's absolutely no reason they can't find a way to protect this from happening! I don't even ever have my screens brightness up near or past the halfway point so I think it's ridiculous and purposely done! I can't believe my screen has burn in when I rarely ever keep anything on the screen long enough for that to possibly happen!

Done with the Turbo 2

Well, it was a nice device, in concept. But, after 5 replacements for various defects, I'm done. I ordered the Samsung S7. Never owned a Samsung before, but I have to assume the support is better than the new Lenovo owned Motorola. I've been a loyal Moto customer since the OG Droid in 2010. Plus, these phones are too big. I'm not a huge guy, so a screen that is hard to hold, and fit in my pocket is a non starter. Hopefully, the battery is decent on the S7, and the phone reception is good. Otherwise, I can live without some of the great Moto software features, as nifty as they are. Software isn't much use when the screen is defective, or people can't hear me talking.
I must admit when I saw the title, I thought you were gonna leave because of the lack of MM update. Sorry to hear you've had so many problems with this phone, I hope the S7 brings you good luck.
You will hate how locked down the s7 is. Should of went 6p. I sold my turbo 2 for a 6p and love it. I had 2 turbo 2's never had an issues but the battery life on my 6p is about the same and I get USB type c unlocked and a fingerprint reader so this is more of what I wanted.

I had the S5 and I really miss it. I thought I would like the Turbo 2 but it hasn't lived up to any of the promises so far, except I haven't tested the toughness of the screen. My replacement Turbo 2 came in today and I'll get it setup tonight. If it fails me, I'll get the S7 Edge because of the larger battery than the regular S7.
I've only had this phone for 2 months and it's developed hardware problems. I never had a hardware problem with the S5, just some stupid lack of updates from Samsung AND Verizon. I was lured by Motorola's false advertising of 3 days of battery life. I can't get 1 day of battery life if I actually use the phone. If I leave it face down and don't touch it, I could probably get 3 days. Face up, the stupid motion sensor (that I haven't figured out how to turn off) wakes up the screen all the damn time. The battery lasts 1 day, less than a day or just over a day and a half in my experience over the last 2 months. A day and a half was with VERY minimal phone usage.
I wish you the best with the S7 and I hope it's far better than this POS.

I don't believe Verizon ever said 3 days of battery. What I saw was up to 48 hours with mixed usage.
I average almost 20 hours and 5.5 OST.
Much better than the M8 I had before it.

Sadly we don't have girls (or they're really rare) here to confirm the size really matters
The 6P is a huge phone and ugly as sin. Great for updates, but if you aren't a front speaker aficionado (which I'm not) then it is just ugly and wasted space.

I've had my Verizon turbo 2 since about 2 weeks after release and have had 0 hardware problems and haven't replaced it once. You're either really clumsy or really unlucky. People don't know how to take care of their phone and I'm assuming you're one of those people, considering you've replaced it 5 times. As far as the battery life I'm a heavy user and push 24 hrs before I'm out of battery. Learn how to train it and uninstall stuff that eats up the battery. I see so many people leave like 100 different apps open in the task manager (the built in one of course) and it kills me. They wonder why their phone is so slow or why it's always dead so quick and their too ****ing lazy to click a button and kill tasks. Anyways I'm sure you don't have the ignorance of people like that otherwise you wouldn't be browsing and posting on XDA. The only reason I would see me moving on from this phone is for root and BL unlock. I love my Roms and kernels. When I was still in school I had a gs3 that I had a new ROM on every day I came to school lol. I miss that **** but I just don't wanna go back to Samsung's mediocre feeling phones, just not a trade-off I'm willing to make. But if that's what you want, all power to you man and gl.
Believe it or not, people have been unlucky and have had hardware issues (green line issues and power button issues to name a few), consider yourself lucky.

I can attest to this, my first turbo 2 had a green line the first time I turned the phone on 2 days after release, fortunately I hadn't walked out the door yet so they swapped it out immediately. as for the power button issue, surprisingly making a seal with your mouth and blowing hard seems to dislodge whatever dust might be getting stuck and fixes the issue (found this solution online, it has worked like a charm)
This is truly unbelievable, I paid off my DT2 600.00 that I got in October. Nothing wrong with it, excellent shape. I pre ordered the s7 edge and was going to trade it in and knock down the price a little on my new one. ISYN, they only offered me 36.53 for it! I thought was a mistake so I asked several times. Looks like I will keep this one as a backup.
They always say NOT to use task killers

just for the recordd, i think the hardware issues probably have more to do with how verizon handles. stores and ships devices cuz its nvr seemed to matter what kind of phone ive had ive always had 3-6 warranty exchanges, and we all know those dnt come brand new in the box, usually actually someone elses defect return. there arnt 10000 dt2 out there that are defective, there are 1000 and vzw has sent them to 10 people each :/
Unfortunately, the only way to have a brand new phone is to be first in line opening morning release day. And even then, that you don't receive a phone that has already been tested/used by a Verizon employee and repackaged. Fortunately, knock on wood, I have my original purchased opening morning.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your phone sir. I've had nothing but awesomeness with mine. I will admit I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of dev support for the DT2. I would love to learn how to Dev for this, but I'm way too busy with life. I left Samsung bc I got tired of the VERY SLOW AND LAGGING OS. I would've gone the Nexus route, but I've really been impressed with Lenovarola lately. I know some of you aren't but I'm having good luck.
Anyway best of luck to you on your Samsung!
Okay, had the T2 since 3 days after launch. The Green Line appeared about two months ago, got a replacement. The mic would not work unless on speakerphone. Got a replacement and now the phone all too often heats up, and I get instant battery drain. When this happens, I lose about 30% of the charge in 20 minutes... Plus, little tiny scratches on the phone screen. I have never had a screen saver on any phone, and never had a problem...

Death of the Stylus? Note 7 axed.

As many are hearing, the Note 7 production has stopped. Reports of the line being axed have surfaced and trending on major news site, the BBC has this to say:
Samsung said it has stopped making Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to consumer safety concerns.
The company is expected to permanently end selling the device, a person familiar with the matter said.
Samsung did not comment further.
Assuming the Note 7 is indeed axed, what do you think this means for the Stylus?
My opinion is that Samsung will steer clear of anything Noteesque for quite some time, size aside, something that makes a Note is of course the Stylus, is it likely to die with Samsung? Interested to hear your thoughts...
They will already be too invested in note 8 to kill it as well. They have already gotten patents for components in it, and expected release as early as 3/2017.
Problem is, the Note 4 (only second hand) and 5 (only grey import) also aren't available anymore, so if my Note 3 would die now, I have nothing to replace it with.
I don't agree that they will stay away from the Note platform. That would be handing lots of sales over to other makers, as I'm sure many stick with Samsung for the stylus in a Note sized product. I do hope the next one is a polished, finished product, though.
Would you agree that many buy the Note 7 regardless of the Stylus? I appreciate many buy for the feature, but I have seen so many people on XDA saying they can switch easily to a different device because they simply bought the Note 7 for the spec.
If those same people are a large part of the user base (Samsung would know I guess by Stylus usage statistics perhaps?) then launching a larger than the S7 Edge device under a different name could bode well for them?
It could be that nearly all Note users buy for the stylus, I'm just putting it out there.
I have no idea on how many don't use the stylus. Certainly if someone does not use it, it'd be easy to make different choices. But I don't really see the stylus as the issue here. It's the battery.
What to do now? S7E - don't rly like it after touching the NOTE7. Wait for S8 is too long for me. I still use S4 that is dead (at least battery is new) lol. Other brands don't have good camera like N7 or S7E... Not to start talking about accessorys i bought for N7....

They used that stylus-statistic to slide the S6Edge+ down our throats and not bring the Note 5 to Europe. The S6E+ tanked and is now being sold with 200+ euro discounts to get rid of excisting stocks.
The Note series is the only phone with stylus. You have nowhere else to go. So switching now is an option, since there are zero new stylus phones on the market at the moment.
I hope they do not kill the stylus.
I love the stylus specially when i am at college.
It allows me to write notes or draw sketches and memes and i am arch student. To me a phone without a stylus looks awkard.. They propably will change name of the note brand by next year or dit h the stylus i hope the later does not happen.

Still on Note 4. I think that I have used the stylus once. I keep forgetting it's even there. I bought the Note 4 because it is a good, large, solid phone with a big screen and a REMOVABLE BATTERY. That's the reason that I never went to the Note 5 or Note 7. There are two Note 4s in my family that are just under two years old. I've already had to replace the battery in one because of it not holding a charge, boot loops, etc. To me, the Note 7 was the best of the sealed phones and the only one that I would even bother considering.
What? you thought that for years, people bought a Note just because it has a slightly bigger screen than the S series?
The stylus IS the Note. It's the reason why Samsung had 2 Flagship phones instead of 1. Dude, the Stylus is here to stay, period.

I don't think they'll let it die. Let some time pass, bring it out again and maybe even find a new name for it, that's it.
People forget fast anyway, you can watch that in politics every day...
What do you think would happen if that problem arose with a Galaxy S phone? No galaxies any more?
TL;DR: Samsung is a monstrosity of a company. It's for sure a big inconvenience for them, but it won't break their neck and influence them too much.
Think of what would happen if that same thing happened to LG...

Sure enough they are available... Idk how much they are gonna charge me though. For me to upgrade early to the note 7 they made me spend 200 and send in my s6. They are probably gonna make me pay the tax and put $100 down so it barely increases my monthly bill.. Any advice?

Who's getting rid of the note 7?

Just wondering who here is keeping the note 7 and taking the risk of it exploding? I'm happy to keep mine though little annoyed that they've stopped gear VR support and I'm 80% certain Samsung will eventually force us all to return the note 7 by maybe a software update that renders the phone useless.
I honestly have no idea what phone I'd get, I had the S7 edge as a temporary replacement phone while the recall was going on and it didn't feel as good as the note 7, the software wasn't as good and I missed the little features like the swipe gesture in the camera app for example. I still have my note 4 but it uses a different sim card so will have to get an adaptor but even then the note 4 seems really out dated in comparison but I get to keep the S-pen which is the biggest reason I got a note device in the first place. I also have a gear s2 smart watch and while it should work with other android phones it's just works better with a Samsung phone. I hope Samsung do something quick maybe release a note 8 and replace the note 7s with it lol there's just no alternatives.
What are you doing with your note 7?
Heading to VZW over lunch. No clue what I'm replacing with, or if they will even allow me yet (VZW 3rd Party).

Hanging on to it for as long as I possibly can. If the deadline for a replacement or refund is midnight on 31st December, I'll hand it in on 31st December.
Is a p**s take though like what about people who've brought cases for the note 7 and other accessories? I purchased my gear vr from ebay for £80 as the seller had it with the note 7 but didn't want it and I couldn't seem to find it anywhere online or in shops probably due to the recall. I had the S7 edge at the time so could still use it but now they've cut off note 7 support so I no longer can use my gear VR so I'd at least like to know exactly what's going on so I can possibly see about selling it. Add on top the money I've spent on apps which I can no long use on the gear VR it's just ridiculous. I personally wouldn't mind waiting through another recall as long as I get to keep and use the note 7 I have then just swap it for a new and hopefully completely safe note 7 but looks like the note 7 is done for.
I'm keeping mine. I will treasure it even more now knowing once it's gone, it's gone forever. Now I need to figure out a way getting rid of the 60% charging cap. I love this phone so much!

If I change the build.prop file, do you reckon I can trick the oculus app into thinking it's an S7 edge not a note 7?? I used it on the gear vr before the update and it seemed to work okay without getting stupidly hot even had it on charge lol.
The phones I want aren't out yet... Hoping final refund instructions come out in time to pre order the v20.. or maybe the pixel . I'm in the Philippines... Don't know how I can order the pixel lol

If not today, give it some time. This is still breaking news and info. hasn't flown down yet.
I did notice in my VZW account that my Note 7 now says "Upgrade Eligible". This wasn't there yesterday. Something on the back end happened.
At minimum, I'm going to deactivate this device and put an old phone on the account for now.
TMO has offered to exchange me out of this POS. But as others have said, there is nothing out there right now to really hold it down. So my question is this, Nougat won't be released for the N7 I suppose, what is the true lifespan of the phone with updates not being released for it? And of course, there is the explosion possibility?

Personally - and you have to make up your own mind on this - I am not even 0.000000000001 % bothered about the "explosion risk". You have about as much chance of winning Euromillions tonight, and in my view, that is no basis to reject a piece of equipment.
The lack of updates and also dismal resale value is much more concerning.
But worse than any of that, I think Samsung will send out an update that cripples the phone. They did it with Rev.1. so I have no reason to assume they won't do the same with Rev.2. Your choice to keep it may very well be taken out of your hands, which personally, I think is disgusting.

Yeah, I'm back on my OG HTC One, lol. So far 1 hour on the phone with Samsung and everyone is clueless. About to hang up and just hit VZW again in a day or two. I have to say, though, it's irritating to be paying on a device that is powered down and not activated on my line (Edge financing).
Time to cut loses. Thats what samsung did. The phone hase become a liability. Get your money back if you can.

Why don't you just use it? Seriously there's been like 8 with problems out of what, 2 million, 3 million? Seriously you have more chance of being run over than having a problem with the device.
The thing with statistics is they can be unintuitive and lead to strange conclusions. Let's say one phone in every 500,000 is going to develop a fault and catch fire. From Samsung's perspective, that means they can be certain they will have lots of unhappy customers, potential lawsuits and bad publicity and therefore it's a bit of a no-brainer to stop selling it.
But from your perspective, you have a 500,000:1 on chance that your phone will have no problems. And in the remotely unlikely event that it does, how likely is it to kill you, burn your house down or anything like that. Even less likely. There are ZERO such reports.
So it's up to you, but for me, it's a no brainer to keep using it, and I hope Samsung will respect that point of view and not cripple our phones with some unnecessary and unwanted forced update.

Yeah I agree I'm not so much concerned about the explosion risk but just the lack of support and updates in the future. Wish they'd just let us take the risk I for one wouldn't sue Samsung if my note 7 does explode there's little chance that you haven't heard about the issues from somewhere therefore it's not Samsung's fault that I took the risk.
What did samsung do with the phone after they recalled it, if they didn't fix the issue?
Samsung UK web site has no mention of recall for v2.
Doing nothing until Samsung (who I bought it from) contact me. Even then it won't be going back until it's knocked out by Samsung.

Indeed. Just looking it up now, you are 500 times more likely to die from riding a motorbike than you are to have a fire with your Note 7. (Assuming 1 phone per 500,000 has a problem.)
best buy exchanged mine out with no questions asked. I was told to even keep the 256GB SD card. unfortunate I went to the dark side and got iphone7 plus. The LG was just cheap and I was unimpressed. Buying the Google Pixel XL outright to bring over to Sprint was not a option for me. I am done with Sammy with all the issues I have had with there products since the Note 4 and other house hold appliances. Iphone was my only option.

Some questions on the Note 7 Recall Saga

Hi,
I am the owner of Note 7 (replaced to the Green battery) , I had no issue with the phone (both the initial one and the replaced one). It is actually the 'coolest' (temperature wise ) phone that I had.
Reading all the information that circulated in the past weeks related to this saga of the Note 7, some questions came to my mind:
- Isn’t it strange that, after the recall has been declared, no more Note 7 ‘exploded’???
- Do you really believe that everybody switched off the phone immediately and is calmly waiting to ship the phone back?
- How come no phone ‘exploded’ in any dealer’s warehouse?
- Don't know of any case of phone going in flames in Canada, Europe, Middle East (are these ones 'special' in any way?)???
- Of all the returned phones, even if the carriers had a lot of concerns, was any single case of a device which caught fire?
- How come Samsung is not able to replicate the conditions so one phone will blow, even if they assigned hundreds of engineers? Why don't they seek help from a specialized company/agency in order to determine the causes?
- Is it Samsung ready to scrap all the R&D invested in the design of the most feature rich phone on the market? Why aren't they taking the time (even few months) to make sure they get it right and come back with something aka Note 7s, just in time for the end of year season?
- Aren't all these 'better safe than sorry', 'don't take any risk', etc. a bit over inflated by the media? Is this the biggest risk we take daily in our lives?
Please try to comment on these concerns and try to raise other reasonable questions
You talk about second recall in the first question...and yes it's very strange.
Second: in a video it's showing a gap between glass and metal . Haw hard could it be to insert something small and make a hole into the battery....and make it burn?
Now comes my question: I haven't seen no one video with burning note to show a minute or two BEFORE ignition. Every video shows only after or while it't burning. I must say that samsung now could be in front of a great attack from others...
P.S. I still think that N7 IS the best phone money can buy at the moment and I was PRO for a second excange. Anyway I will buy Note 8 on preorder next year.

We get it, you like the phone and don't want to get rid of it. But this is an unnecessary risk. I guess if you live alone in a detached single family dwelling, the only risk you're taking is your own well being. But the phone is not going to be supported, and will likely be shut off in one way or another.

A video before ignition? Do you have a video camera trained on your phone 24x7? Actually, that'd be kind of suspicious if someone were videoing their phone just prior to it melting.
Sorry, I'm not buying into any grand conspiracy theory on this one. Something was not designed right, and Samsung (and us Note lovers) are paying the price. Simple as that.
I think samsung should and will find the actual issue soon enough, don't think they'd move further without knowing for sure what happened. That said, chances are it'll still be too late for note7, unless, hopefully, they find out there was never an issue to begin with or if the solution is completely software and able to implement it in time.
Let's use the 'explosive' words more careful than the media. There was never an actual explosion (which denotes a violent reaction associated with a shock wave) unless I have missed such event.
This defect probability appears to be quite low. That would explain why Canadian or European market, much smaller, didn't account in burning reportings yet.
Finally, I was reading thru the note's manual the other day. It is clear that it's expected from the owner a decent amount of care in using the device as, for instance, it states, amongst other things, that one should not wear it in his back pocket or sit on it to avoid it catching fire.

If you want to keep the phone, go for it! You talk sense and you'd be absolutely annoyed at yourself if you listened to the majority of the blind leading the blind on here rather than your own intuition. Keep it! For now at least. Fools rush in. Don't be a fool.

If, being powered off and not charging is not making them to 'explode' (they all like the word explode, even if it is nothing like this...), why all the shipping companies are making such a big deal in not accepting to ship back the returns (powered off and in no way connected to chargers)?
How come, no unit which was on display in the showrooms, always connected to charging and handled by hundreds of people in all the possible ways, was not 'exploding'? This is real 'luck' for Samsung...

Is there a case of one going up in smoke that was fully powered off? If so, I retract my comments, but would like a link to that information before doing so. The ones I've heard of were all powered on at the time.
23 cases reported to the cpsc since Sept 15. They are happening...it's just that not everyone instantly calls the verge.

My guess is that those devices could have a faulty battery protection circuit that is attached straight to the battery(inside battery case). Those usually make the lithium batteries go boom when You mess with them. Although I tried shorting out this circuit once and all what happened was pretty much a discharged battery to 0% within a second and it wouldn't charge.
But. In case of those Note 7 explosions I think that this circuit gets waaay too hot and the electrolyte inside the battery is starting to boil and a chemical reaction goes off and BOOM!
Now time for the conspiracy theory with facts
Apple. That is the answer! Apple hired a group of people all around the USA to somehow burn their phones and to make sure that it will look like the battery exploded(hair dryer to the back of the phone?)
News say that most Note 7s are exploding in USA. And this way people would start hating Samsung because their phones aren't safe. And would buy iPhones! Well.. they failed. News report that most people after leaving Note 7 go for S7 Edge.
What do You guys think? Both about the realistic theory and the conspiracy theory?

That's a very reasonable petition and I thought for a moment about signing it.
However, I decided not to, and I'll explain why: Clearly the Note 7 has some safety issues and although we might debate how much of a risk it is, the fact remains that too many have been catching fire and this should not be happening in a properly designed and manufactured device. That being the case, it is unavoidable that Samsung had to stop selling them, especially if it could not be 100% certain what the cause of the fires has been.
Under these circumstances, I think it is fantasy to imagine that Samsung is going to dedicate development resources onto a withdrawn phone with a VERY limited user base. Asking for Nougat is a complete waste of time: it simply is NOT going to happen, ever. Since we can expect ZERO updates, then whether we like it or not, the phone is effectively finished. You'd be mad to plan on keeping long term an expensive product that will get no security or other updates ever.
What I *would* petition for is for Samsung to release a Note 7 mk II at the soonest opportunity. The Note 7 mk II would be a Note 7, identical in every respect except for the overheating problem fixed. I'd switch to one of those in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, I don't think Samsung are going to do that. I think they want to ditch the Note 7 entirely, because of the bad publicity. And I don't think we will see a new S-pen Samsung untll fall 2017, and it won't be called a Note. I think this is a shame.

General Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 faulty

I got my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 on 20th August and less than 2 weeks later the phone is faulty and I have to sent it back. The problem is when I open the big screen as far as it goes it switches the phone off completely and I have to go to the small screen and press the power on button to swich it on. If I half open the big screen it still works.

Meh, the fail is strong with Samsung this year.
At least hold off a bit if you want this phone; let others take the ride before you decide.
Latter production runs might also have issues fixed by then.
Issues with the S21U are also cropping up.

Maybe not. Samsung's been imploding across the board this year. With their apps and multiple device hardware failures. No joke. Multiple threads on XDA of issues and phone returns.
Just had a Wearables update puke all over me last night. It has defied a solution so far and the Buds+ only work right on phone calls.
Never saw that before.

If you really want it, then do the warranty exchange and get a new one. No product line is 100% perfect. There will always be defective units. But that doesn't mean every single device will fail within two weeks. That's the most asinine thing I've heard all day.

The best possible failure scenario is that a device does it within its return window.
So the OP was lucky in that respect.
I be pi$$ed too for all that trouble.
Meh... once bitten, twice shy.
If you preordered, Samsung included Care+ for 1 year for free. Not sure if this is offered outside of the US. It's really a great device kind of a game changer for me.

Samsung isn't imploding. Realize that they sell tens of millions of devices and a small minority of people who purchase their products are here complaining about things on XDA. There is no widespread news coverage of Samsung making faulty devices, well, not since the Note 7. Your post is an exaggeration.

I don't share your optimism or wuv of storage deficient devices.
My first 10+ still looks, runs like it's new, fast, stable and fulfilling it's mission with 1tb of storage, soon to be expanded to 1.5tb.
I rejected the Note 20U because of poorer run time, Adroid 10, poorer color rendering and unreasonable price. Not enough bang for the buck.
So imagine what I think about every release from Samsung since then... and I'm not near as kind as you.
2021 is already a dead year for Sammy

I won’t be getting another Fold 3. if the display fails in under 2 weeks there’s a good chance it could happen again.

That's a good choice... Look for golden reviewer on YouTube and you'll see that this phone while it has Snapdragon 888 performs even worse than 855/865 phones lmao.
It throttles so hard that on games that other phones run at 90fps+ it scores 30 FPS sustained with dips below 10 FPS lmao ( pubg and genshin )
It's a shet performer, buy yourself a better device

There's literally a setting to make it run at max capability. From factory it doesn't run at max. You just flip the setting and it will run at max. They did it to preserve battery. Because realistically only games will utilize the entire power of an 888.
Phone cpus are progressing faster than use case. Oneplus just got in a debacle about this, mainly because they did it without giving you the ability to stop the throttling.
