Hi, did you modify the display or font size? Nokia's Pie builds have some issues when you use custom values there.

tiny writing on pull down notification

Hello I am now the (Proud?) owner of this phone because I have gone bill pay - moved from a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, which i did like but the camera didnt have OIS and the camera lens was in such a silly place many a time I used to accidentally cover it with my finger when i wanted to take picture . Anyway very similar specs, same snapdragon chip, same 480dpi screen 5.1.1 on the SU6 (is it only 5.1.0 on the GX8 as standard or 5.1.1? - info in about/settings says 5.1
On my SU6 I liked that you could pull down the notification bar at the top of the screen and the writing was legible, but on this GX8 the writing is so tiny in the notification especially for the time the notification came in on the left hand side, how is anyone supposed to read that even with good eyesite - what are my options apart from root and app settings and change the dpi for systemui?
I know im getting on a bit and the ol eyesite must be failing but does anyone else have a problem with the font size? - I went into settings and chose 'huge' and 'extra huge' font size in display but it doesnt have any effect on the system fonts it seems.
Hello Valued Customer, you can adjust both the size of the font and the text on the device. To increase the size of the font, go to Settings>Font and select your desired font size. To change the actual text size, go to Settings>Accessibility>Captions and from there select your desired text size. Anyone else experiencing this with their dialer keypad

Because of my eyesight, I have to increase the display and font sizes to 'Large'. 'Large' isn't the highest option... it's the step right above default. When I open up my dialer and make a call, and open the keypad, it is scrunched. Take a look at the photo. Anyone else experiencing this? Will some of you increase both your display and font sizes to 'Large' and see if the same happens on your XL?
Thanks!
I have that issue. I was on 7.1.2 Beta2 and now on final 7.1.2 non-VZW (N2G47E).
I also have my text size set to large and don't see that at all. Even the largest size doesn't "scrunch". The lettering does gets a little smaller on the smaller size option though. I am on stock rooted 7.12 with the stock Google dialer. If you're using a different dialer or a theme, those might possibly be causing your issue.

How can I change display size for one app?

Hello,
in display settings on Android Oreo there is an option to change display size and i allways have it on "small" but there is a problem with one app that seem not to adjust to this settings and it is impossible to use it because all buttons and text are deformed and they overlay on each other. The problem disappears when i change the display size to "default". So here comes my question: is there any way to keep overall display on small and somehow make it change automatically to default only for this app?

Oreo number of rows in quick settings

Hi,
can somebody please tell me how to add the 3rd row of quick setting toggles in the Oreo update like it was with Nougat?
I've tried Oreo for the third time now but several things simply don't work anymore or got worse in comparison with Nougat.
I could live with a few of those but only having two rows of quick setting toggles is definatily not one of them.
I tried gravitybox (it's missing the option to manage the vibration strength of the virtual buttons and the battery tile now has additional text which takes up all the space so the temperature part isn't visible anymore.)
Furthermore I had to buy a substratum theme to not vomit from the white quick settings panel. With the march security update the installation is now as tedious as with Nougat due to the forced reboot.
The Xposed module HowGiveLolli doesn't work anymore and the centered normal letters instead of all upper case was a real nice feature.
Why are the points in the settings app regrouped so it's harder to find specific settings?
There are simply so many bad design choices in my eyes I can't bring myself to live with Oreo due to not finding substitute functions for the missing ones.
Kind regards
I know you posted this last month so you hopefully figured it out, but either way I thought I'd share the answer since someone else might want to know in the future.
It has to do with the display scaling in Settings\Display\Advanced\Display Size. If set to default or large, you only get two rows of quick settings. If you set to small, the UI shrinks and as a side effect you get three rows of quick settings tiles. You can always increase the font size afterward if it's too small, but reducing the display scaling is the only way to have enough room to display three rows.

Thanks for posting the solution. I simply restored my Nougat backup as I never upgraded my bootloader for that matter. I don't think I'll be using Oreo until I get a new phone which possibly can't be a Moto Z3 because I'm not really convinced they will release anything more than the Z3 play.

Hi and thanks for this trick : as a matter of fact I was always on "small" in Nougat and it worked nice with 3 rows, but with Oreo I needed to switch to "smaller" to switch from 2 to 3 rows :silly:

Issue with dialer on higher custom dpi

Hi Guys, so I've increased the dpi to custom under developer settings to 581. Everything seems to work great except for touch position on the dialer and it's pretty irritating. Anyone knows a solution to this or to selectively reduce the dpi on tbe dialer app? I'm not rooted. Look at the screenshot of the issue. Thanks!
I use 589, and no issues, but with 600, the notifications panel becomes very narrow, but no issues with anything else
i use 480 w lowered font size and "fineprint" font.... everything works perfect

Tried 589 and same issue. Can you confirm you don't have the issue on your dialer? Weird why this would be.
I just double checked, at 589, the dialer is normal, but, I have the screen resolution at wqhd+, fhd gives me some troubles in the zone of the nav bar, and I say zone because I hide the nav bar, gestures work ok, but, buttons appearing there become unresponsive, the same for the bottom row of the keyboard

For some reason I still have the issue in the OP screenshot. I've resorted to 520 now with QHD+, things are slightly better on the dialer but still largely the same.
