S9 night mode camera crashed - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

I most cases after taking photos in night mode, the camera would crash while the photo is being saved and wont save after all. Does this happen to somebody else too?

I'm trying to find the night mode option. I have the latest camera version, according to Samsung (9.0.03.22). Where is the option?

You need the June update on the Exynos S9 to have night mode

Good times. I have the snapdragon. Thanks Samsung!

Should be coming soon I think going from this S10 article
https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-plus-update-969909/

I've written it in another post. I've found a fix, choose 16:9 resolution and you will not have errors.

Yes, me too, a lot. It happens when I took a photo while moving (such as moving my hand or taking photos with moving objects such aa cars). I get warning, camera failed.

Probably because you need to keep the phone steady for Night Mode to work

Yup. Not only that, you should have a static background too. When I'm taking a photo at night when there's moving cars, and I'm holding my phone still, I still get that error

Yep, not really an error, just the way night mode works, otherwise the photo would just be a blurry mess

I just installed june update and I tried night mode. I try to keep my hands steady as much as possible and I still get the same error 90% of the time.
PS : There isn't anything moving in the picture frame.

Tried clearing "Data" on the camera app?
I can make it fail by moving the phone about when taking the shot but otherwise it works as intended

I tried clearing data. Seems better now, but sometimes it still gets me the same error without moving my hands, for example before finishing saving, it closes the camera suddenly and says camera failed. But after resetting settings and clearing data it seems to happen less often... Thanks !

Night mode is perfect now, but I'm having heating issues after June update, especially when charging.

Camera Problem

I hope that someone can help, my camera will not focus anymore. Every picture that I take, other than close up, is blurry. I've tried turning the Auto Focus off and then on again, restarting, and cleaning the lens, but nothing has worked.

Have you rooted your phone or loaded a new rom? If so, return it to stock and see how it does. If not, or problem is still there after you revert to stock it sounds like a defective camera and you need to exchange your phone.

Camera crashes every time I launch it. (caused by LastPass)

*Edit 2* This is apparenly caused by "LastPass" which I just enabled prior to this crashing. Thank you to EddyOS for helping me out.
Good morning, *crazy realization / edit down below*
I just got my HTC One M8 yesterday and it is really nice, but one problem is that every time I click the camera app button, or launch the camera from the lock screen, I get this crash every single time.
I have reboot my phone, not installed anything weird or crazy, and this is just nonstop happening.
The only way I can actually get to my camera and use it, is if I turn t he phone off, flip the phone 90 degrees so I’m holding it like a camera, and pressing the volume down button to do the quick launch camera.
Everything else I try to get to the camera with crashes.
This is beyond frustrating.
Thank you for your time,
-----------------------
*Edit 1 - I realized that whenever I am holding the camera in "landscape mode" it works fine and doesn't crash / launches fine. As soon as I 'stand the phone up tall" it will crash. I can even launch the camera anytime if I am holding it in landscape mode when I press the camera app and it opens fine. As soon as I stand the phone up the camera crashes! This is the worst bug I have ever had in a phone and is starting to make me regret going with HTC again (going on 7 years straight with HTC but I feel let down).

If I had to factory reset this phone less than 12 hours after I received it in order to get the most basic functionality out of it, this sucker is going back and it will be the first time in 6+ years I have not gone with an HTC Flagship.
Nice phone but very disappointed with a few things (this crash is beyond making me mad) and this is coming from an HTC fanboy. I just can’t stand to see Samsung be the only ones with no competition thus bringing down quality for everyone which was the main reason I support HTC as well as their innovation. This just sucks though.
personally i'd reset it.. if it happened again i'd agree with you.
Tech is tech.. sometimes things go wrong. I've not seen a single other user with the same problem.
good luck
It's LastPass causing the issue, there is another thread saying so elsewhere on here

[Q] Server error occurred. Restart Camera.

The video camera function on my camera is no longer working and I’m not sure why. This phone is less than 5 weeks old and I have already taken videos with it. This upsets me because I have a 4 month old that I love to record especially when it comes to his firsts. The led flash light comes on when I push the video button, the screen switches and freezes. The message saying error prompts and when I close the camera, the led light will remain on until I reopen the camera. Hopefully you can help me figure this out, many thanks!

Which indicates you have been making changes to your phone related to video. Did you remove that or are you still using it.
Without knowing what your phone condition is in, it is very possible that other changes you have made is causing the problem as well...

Most don't need to update their modem and if you installed software that modifies how your phone works, you might try turning them off or uninstalling them to see if they are the cause of your problems.

u could try booting in safe mode and test if theres any app or tweak that is causing it. or u could enter Service / Test / Hidden functions by dialing *#0*# on your phone dialer and u gonna get to the service mode and check camera itself. also theres another one of those USSD codes that brings u to check the phone gadgets hardware /firmware version to see if it same as the camera app... u could also do a full factory restore from recovery screen if nothing else works remember to do a backup first @ titanium backup.. or if you have fair tech skills u could remove the back cover and remove the battery plate and check if tje battery connectors are in place im sure u could find a note 3 tear down video around.. i had the same problem but with the frontal camera and ended up been the camera was defective and replaced it and worked like charm
I know this thread is kinda old, but since it is on the first page on google's query, I'll post a solution here (found on another site).
The solution is to turn off the phone and remove battery for 10-20 seconds. This should resolve the issue.
Some users report that the issue occurs when you charge your phone via PC or laptop USB port. So, to avoid this, prefer original charger.
thanks
thank you for replying even if the post is old! it simply worked while i was about to sell my phone ! good thing i saw your reply first!
Did you ever find a fix?

N975U1UEU1ASJ3 update

I just received this update notification.
I just got it as well
Just got it too, CMON BETA.
I took the update and now when I take a picture I get this message. I turned the phone off and it cleared but as soon as I take another picture, it comes up and will not go away. It's also a notification that can't be turned off. So tired of the Samsung BS...

I didn't see that problem with ASJ3 or with the subsequent ASJ8. I don't think it's inherent in the update, so if ASJ8 doesn't fix it today, I'd suggest the usual debugging steps to try to resolve it.

I actually went into battery options and made sure the camera wasn't set to immediately be put to sleep after it's closed and it seems to have fixed it.
Thanks for your reply. It's great to have a community like this.
Anyone notice anything different in picture quality?

Yep same problem, you can solve it by tapping to focus before pressing shutter, and also night mode during the day seems to work too
When I manually updated my phone I had the same issue. Try to wipe cache partition in the recovery. It worked for me.

Tried that, didn't help, it's trying to focus which is why tapping to focus first fixes it, hopefully fixed in another update
I'm also facing this issue, I'll try the tap to focus and see if this helps until they fix it
Maybe try to clear data for camera app? I've read somewhere that it helps.

I have the same problem. I tried all your suggestions and still takes at least 5 seconds to take the picture. In Live focus is even worse rejecting completely to take the picture. Any other suggestion, please ?
