Is there a way to pass the lock screen and go directly to home screen? - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
New to Samsung phones and upgrading from a Motorola X Pure Edition. The Samsung is an upgrade in many, many ways. It's sophisticated and will make the user feel sophisticated. But it has a few downsides too (camera) but I'm working to get the phone to how I think it should be.
I have Always On Display enabled. But when the phone is not locked, I can double tap on the screen and then instead of going to the home screen, it just goes to the lock screen which I then have to swipe up again for.
This is like passing through two locked gates in order to get to the home screen and this can be annoying. I need to open my phone quick or minimize distractions.
Is there a way to bypass the lockscreen? The fingerprint sensor is not very good and if I have Smart Lock enabled and the phone was turned off but is not locked, it would be great to just double tap on the screen and go directly to the home screen.
Thanks.

I think this is the only way. But keep in mind it will completely disable any kind of lockscreen security.

Yeah, I'm not trying to disable security. Thanks anyway.
I just want to go directly to my home screen when the phone is off but unlocked due to smart unlock.

I had the same problem. Instead of having AOD on all the time I set it to 'tap once' to open AOD, but I realised it's basically a secondary lock screen, so I disabled the AOD completely and just use the lock screen instead, it not only provides more info than the AOD but it's also a lock screen where the AOD is just a novelty and an extra gate. I just double tap to wake the lock screen instead of single tap to open AOD.

I took your advice and turned off AOD. Phone is better this way, and I'm not missing much with the AOD off.
Thanks.

[Q] Swipe Screen Lock Behaviour

I have my Screen lock set to "Swipe" (the default) but I feel it's too easy to unlock the phone. As well as swiping where it says "Swipe up or down to unlock", you can also pull down the notifications menu and then go into Settings and press the Back button (which unlocks the phone rather than going back to the lock screen, which is the behaviour I would expect and want). Also, if I swipe across to the camera and press the Back button, this also unlocks the phone (again, I expect it to go back to the lock screen).
However, if I change the Screen lock to Pattern or PIN, the lock screen actually functions as expected and I cannot pull down the notifications menu or leave the lock screen via the camera.
Is there any way of replicating this behaviour with the Screen lock set to "Swipe"? In other words, I want to swipe to unlock, but I don't want to be able to pull down the notifications menu or leave the lockscreen unless I have actually swiped to unlock.
Well I think this is the standard and right behavior for all phones. It was the case with the GS2 too. There's no point in disabling accessing the notifications menu when there aren't any locks. It's only makes sense when you lock your device with pattern or pin.
Unfortunately I don't know any apps or modification that can help.

Hmm, OK - thanks for the information. The point is that it is too easy to accidentally unlock the phone - the lock screen should, well, lock the phone. I guess I could have a pattern or PIN unlock but it should be an option to have the same behaviour with swipe.

widget locker has pretty fine control over that sort of thing, including a disable notification bar toggle. i'm not sure if that actually works, though: i'm using delayed lock as well and that overrides some things.

Screen off and lock - Without button?

I'm used to switch off the phone tap (or swipe) of the screen, without using the power button. But this method for HTC 10 is not working.. I tried to put different applications (for example Screen off and lock), but they are in conflict with the scanner - scanner is not working . Does anyone have any ideas?
Custm rom will give you this feature but you'll have to unlock your BL
The only app that can do this is screen lock pro by Prahallad, but it's a paid app.
It's achieves this via a workaround, which has a side effect that the screen is not actually locked until about 10 seconds after u initiate the lock.
Gestures in Nova Launcher can do this. I have it set to lock when I swipe down on the homescreen. The one catch to this (or any other third party solution) is that fingerprint unlock will be disabled until the device is locked with the power button.

Thanx, u method is working...:good: ( Screen lock pro by Prahallad)
I discovered this behavior with the A9 and 6.0.1. What happens with a lock screen app, most will actually lock the phone, then when you try to use something like a double tap to wake, the phone acts as if it did a reboot, and requires a PIN to unlock. You can't use a fingerprint/face etc..upon a reboot...a PIN is always required. All the apps did this I tried.
The way I use a lock screen/wake is to 1) Root the phone, 2) Install Xposed, 3) install Gravity Box for MM, 4) Navigation buttons, 5) then use the Home button and set the double tap to Sleep.
Have to reboot after activating Gravity etc. You need to be familiar with Xposed and the modules/activating them.
Then if you double tap home to slepp. Then, also put your finger on the Fingerprint for example, and it unlocks and goes right to the screen. You can use the PIN/Face etc as well...but the lock programs always fooled the phone into thinking it rebooted, and only a PIN would unlock it..annoying. This method stops that, so you can still have security, and simply double tap to lock the screen, and easily wake the phone/unlock it with a variety of options.
Not sure if this is how you are using it, but none of the Lock screen apps will work. I've tried them all on the A9 6.0.1 MM. Only Rooting and Gravity Box will give you an ability to do something like a double-tap to sleep, without the reboot PIN always prompting you when you do unlock the phone.

I personally use the double tap home on venom rom.. Works well.
Double tap screen will be kernel based, not sure how efficient it'll be on battery so I'd avoid it and use the double tap home key, not a massive difference.

Using Gravity Screen to wake phone when you pick it up

I was searching for a way to make Tasker wake phone when I pick it up, so I just have to at it to unlock it. In looking into this, I discovered Gravity Screen, which amongst other things, can wake your phone when you pick it up, straight to Face Unlock. It seems to work well but I'm not sure of the impact on battery. I'm not using it to lock the screen... Really only using it for the one thing.

I've been using this app on my last two phones in order to be able to double tap the home screen on my launcher (Action Launcher) to turn off the screen, WITHOUT locking the phone. For some reason though, this no longer works on the OP5T, double tapping just simply won't trigger the screen off shortcut. Really disappointed in this, are you able to get this to work on yours?
I do also use its proximity sensor feature so that it automatically turns the screen on upon removal from my pocket, and it turns the screen back off once I put the phone back into my pocket, which triggers the angle needed to turn the screen off. That feature still works as intended, and better yet, preps the screen for the face unlock. And as far as I can tell, hardly uses any extra battery.

Hmmm... I use Nova Launcher and I use the double tap to lock the phone. I've never wanted it to not lock. I wasn't aware that there is a double tap action in Gravity Screen? I'll have a look.

It's not really within Gravity Screen itself, you'd have to use the launcher to set up the double tap on home screen to a shortcut. From there, you can pick one of Gravity Screen's shortcuts that allow you to either just turn off the screen, or do a persistent off screen, where you have to use the power button to bring it back on. I believe the problem I had with using the double tap to lock screen feature built into the launchers is that it forces you to have to enter in a password afterwards...face unlock or fingerprint do not work.

Hmmm. Not true with Nova. I double tap to lock and I can use fingerprint to unlock. However, I believe that I requires root for this lock method. Do you have root?

Nope, I don't have root. I did try the same shortcuts with Nova, and it didn't work there either.
have used the app on my old OPO.. now on 5T it's just perfect.. just pick up the phone.. and prepare for landing on homescreen without any tap or button press
does not consume a lot of battery
I've used this in the past as a way to turn on the screen when it comes out of my pocket

This application wakes up your phone, and it works well on my OP5T, it's called "Always on AMOLED"you can download it from F-Droid open source apps, Yalp Store and Google Play. I like that it is low on resources, double tap wake up screen option, lock screen clock, date, battery, custom message and notifications.

G7 Pre Purchase Questions Please

Ready to upgrade my V30 to a G7. Trying to find out if it has lift to wake like my old Pixel. I miss being able to just pickup the phone and see the clock and notifications. Thanks for your help.
Yes it has, even better, lift to wake and face unlock without swipe up.
It doesn't have lift to wake up but it has Always on display wich shows you the clock and what nothifications you have.
Yes it has. Just enable face unlock... Also you can enable swipe up to unlock if you want to see the lock screen...

Not really the same. Lift to wake turns the screen on when lifting. This option unlocks your device.
This option turns my screen on. Period. I think the OP has the sollution.

Fingerprint icon - No tap to show?

So on my s10 i can tap the screen to reveal the fingerprint icon so that i know where i need to place my finger but this setting is missing from the note 10?
This means i have to double tap to wake the screen and then use the fingerprint scanner! Its much quicker the other way and enables me to bypass the lock screen altogether!
Anyone else know what iam talking about and do you have the setting on your note 10 plus ?
I can single tap the screen to get the sensor location. AOD is set to "tap to show". Hope that helps

Oh interesting! Maybe AOD needs to be on so! AOD is off on my S10 but i can still tap to show the indicator. The settings on my S10 that give me that option are not available on my Note 10 +

I tried that and it works but then the clock is displayed too which i dont want! Basically i can unlock the phone from sleep using my fingerprint and bypass the lockscreen but have no idea where to place my thumb! On the S10 you could tap to see an indicator but you cant on the Note 10 for some reason! You have to guess or else your forced to use the always on display

If youre just unlocking it right after tapping it, why does it matter if the clock shows for a split second?
I turned off my AOD and tapping the screen brings up the place to touch without anything else...
Don't know why software experiences can be so different, I'm in Oz if that helps with a stock Exynos variant...
