Help installing magisk on OxygenOS 8 Oreo

Hi, i now that everyone seems to be able to use magisk under oreo, but i can't get it to work since the first oxygenos oreo beta release.
the funny thing is, it seems to install correctly, but after the reboot there is no magisk manager, and no root functionality.
What i tried:
* Dirty and Clean flashed every beta and stable build.
* Tried the last 4 magisk releases, last version 15.3
* Supersu, wich works every time
* TWRP 3.2.1 blu spark 8.61
I deleted everything except /data/media/0/*
Also, a log file from a magisk install after a clean flash:
Code:

Hi, i now that everyone seems to be able to use magisk under oreo, but i can't get it to work since the first oxygenos oreo beta release.
the funny thing is, it seems to install correctly, but after the reboot there is no magisk manager, and no root functionality.
What i tried:
* Dirty and Clean flashed every beta and stable build.
* Tried the last 4 magisk releases, last version 15.3
* Supersu, wich works every time
* TWRP 3.2.1 blu spark 8.61
I deleted everything except /data/media/0/*
Also, a log file from a magisk install after a clean flash:
Code:
Installing zip file '/sdcard/Backup/Magisk-v15.3(1531).zip'
Checking for Digest file...
Skipping Digest check: no Digest file found

try installing the4 manager from the playstore. Ever since Google added this stupid encryption there have been issues on encrypted devices. Thankfully not many run encrypted so it doesnt com up often.
hm..., the app is not (anymore) in my localized playstore. I can only sideload it, but i already tried that. Same result
Also, isn't every recent Android device encrypted by default? I mean, i have changed the default_password, but that's it

Yes but many disable the encryption and leave their devices unencrypted. Hell it's the first thing I do to all my devices.
I would post this in the magisk thread and see what he says.

I have the same problem. It freezes on the TWRP splash screen.
I'm running the latest Syberia Project ROM (syberia_dipper-v2.1-20190113-1557-OFFICIAL) and I flashed from fastboot.
I don't know if this logcat is helpful...?

Was on EU.MIUI 9.1.24 then restored a previous backup of Havoc and the installed the new RR
It freezes even if I load it with fastboot boot twrp 3.2.3-0-dipper.img.
I checked MD5 sum and it is the same as that shown on the androidfilehost web page.
I don't understand what is the issue.
P.S.:
If it could be useful my Mi8 is 6/128Gb CN version with MIUI 10.2.2.0 global stabile and Magisk v18.
I also flashed disable no-verity ForceEncrypt to allow O.S. to boot

Ok, can you share also a full dmesg? do you know how to make it?
Maybe can you also share a full logcat? you can copy it on pastebin
EDIT: no more needed, can i ask you which twrp you are using actually?

Decompression Fails on any PIE ROM installation

PROBLEM:
Unable to install any PIE ROM by flashing with TWRP. Any flashing attempt of a PIE ROM will be terminated with the error 7 and the Log message the ROM failed to decrompress. OTA updates works, and flashing Oreo ROMs works.
WHAT I TRIED:
- deleting the assert line from updater script
- several different TWRP recoveries, including Orange Fox and official TWRP
- checking "use rm-rf" in TWRP
- decompressing the ROM with 7zip works always
I am at the end of my creativity. Has anyone an idea what else I can try?

Every PIE ROM that I download via my PC and then copy over to my mobile does produce the above decompression problem. Only PIE, not Oreo.
Every PIE ROM that I download via my mobiles download (browser) function produces the same problem.
Every PIE ROM I download with my mobile and with MIXplorer decompresses and installs.
Sounds strange? yep.
can you try different recovery?
twrp-3.2.3-5-whyred (unofficial) is the latest.
also, format DATA, then flash (this will delete everything so i hope you have taken backup)

YasuHamed thanks for trying to help, but I did try different TWRP.
It seems not the TWRP. For some reason my phone does not like ROMs that were downloaded with a browser. But I am fine now, as mentioned in the 2. post.

If you are on other base rom, best practice is to factory reset prior to flash rom and new gapps.
After this steps if rom does not boot, probably you are encrypted, remove encryption and repeat the steps.
If after removing encryption rom still does not boot, make a factory reset again after flashing rom and gapps, then all will be fine.
Also be sure you are using proper firmware.
Relative to gapps, the advised ones is nano package for PIE ( ARM64 ):

If you are on other base rom, best practice is to factory reset prior to flash rom and new gapps.
After this steps if rom does not boot, probably you are encrypted, remove encryption and repeat the steps.
If after removing encryption rom still does not boot, make a factory reset again after flashing rom and gapps, then all will be fine.
Also be sure you are using proper firmware.
Relative to gapps, the advised ones is nano package for PIE ( ARM64 ):

For those searching along: The ROM is still maintained and currently up to Version P23. Downloads can be found at https://tugapower.net/?dir=TP/OP5/PIE
Currently you'll need to install firmware 9.0.6 which isn't hosted over there (yet?) but can be found in the OP5 OOS thread at https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76943628&postcount=8
I'm receiving error 255 for flashing the 9.0.6 firmware as well as the ROM. Is this because I haven't formatted? I'm on the Android 7 version of TugaPower.
Where are the ROM sources mate? Would you kindly provide, or is it closed?

Root on Android 8.0.0 OxygenOs 5.0.8

Hi everyone,
I've got all the oneplus 3 stock, I've install the last TWRP but when I install Magisk or SuperSU (flashing on TWRP) nothing happens. And root checker say to me that there isn't any root.
I followed the "popular" guide to have a custom recovery and also for root but for me not working for root.
Any solution?
provide the logs from twrp when installing magisk, then somebody might be able to help you
This is the log of Magistik installation, can you help me?

There is no error in your logs as i saw it
You could try Magisk v17.3 here, and then update it via magisk manager later
or
Dirty flash the the full rom OOS zip along with magisk with TWRP, if fails then try clean (wipe everything first). Still fail then better to report in the magisk thread (or maybe somebody know better than me below)
Last successful rooting oos was with v17.3 on my phone.

One of your attempts seems to have already modified the boot image. Better dirty flash or clean flash the ROM and then attempt flashing Magisk as the previous poster says. May be 17.3 and then update to 18.1 though for me, 18.1 straightaway works. Hope the Magisk Manager is also installed. Also open the Manager and check what it says.
Ok it works for me, root is now on my OP3, I've just flash the 17.3. But now how to upgrade to 18.1? If I update on magisk manager, it upgrade only the app and no the complete magisk

Here is it, if I tap on update the second message appears, and if I download and update it update only the app.

Update the Manager first, after sometime the message for the Magisk will appear and you can install it.
