[Q] Mount SD No Longer Works?

It was working fine yesterday, but today in MIUI (same as yesterday), I can tell the phone to mount the SD card but it doesn't show up on my computer. So the phone says it's mounted, but it apparently isn't.
To make sure it wasn't a problem with the ROM, I rebooted into to CWM and mounted there, same thing. CWM says it's mounted but it doesn't show up on my computer.
I can view and edit the files on the SD card through ES File Explorer, but the SD card no longer appears on my computer?
It's not the USB port, I plugged in a flash drive and it worked. And I'm using the stock HTC Cable.
This is on my Inspire.
I'm inclined to say it's the wire, but nothing happened to the wire between today and yesterday. It was just sitting on the floor, and it still charges the device.
I did reboot my computer and phone...still no luck.
Does USB debugging have anything to do with it? I've been rooted for months and I never disabled and it didn't cause problems :/
Out of the two inspires in my household, one of my cables stopped working only a month after I bought it. It still works for charging but does not work for data. Have you tried a different cable just to be sure.
It might not be the phone nor the Rom since you've done some basic trouble shooting. It could possibly be your PC. Have you tried it on another computer? Possible driver problems or drive letter conflict might cause it not to display in Computer.
You can check whether Windows has detected your device by going to Start > Devices and Printers, it will pop up there if it is detected. Otherwise you can also check Disk Management. To do this just right-click on Computer > Manage > Disk Management. If you see the removable disk and sure that it is your SD card then it might be a driver letter conflict which you can easily fix by right-clicking on the removable disk and clicking "Change Driver Letter and Paths" and changing it to an unused driver letter. I've had similar issues with USB drives in the past. Hope this helps!
Cheers

Can't connect to usb data. Should I unroot?

Hai,
Up until recently my Evo 4G connected to my computer with a USB data cable fine to both of my Win 7 x64 computers. Not to long ago I flashed a rom of MIUI (can't remember which), and my data cable stopped working. Sense then I have bought a new cord, flashed new roms, installed drivers (I didn't see x64 ones), uninstalled/reinstalled HTC Synch. Nothing works.
When I plug in the phone Windows makes the usb connect "ding" noise, then a pop up says the usb device could not be identified. If I wiggle the cord Windows makes the ding noise making me think the phone is only partially connecting? When I connect it nothing pops up on the phone itself. The charge light only comes on.
What should I do?
Hey,
Try booting into the bootloader and mount usb or toggle usb depending on your recovery and that should fix the problem if not, it might be an issue with MIUI! It has been giving me trouble when I tried to flash it so I couldnt use it, but many times between roms and kernals sometimes you will loose usb and it isnt the cable! try flashing a new rom and let me know how it goes!
stevo!
Hit the thanks if I helped!
I went into recovery and mounted usb, and sd card and the windows pop up came up. It said the usb device has malfunctioned, and windows could not recognize it. Same thing when I reboot. Seems to connect/disconnect when i move the cord with that pop up anytime it does connect.
I've flashed CM7 nightly sense then and now I am on [10-11-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [1.3][2.3.7 Stable] #Stablistic. I did notice when I click the pop up in windows it takes me to the info page for the unidentified usb and it says there is no driver installed for it.
Alright, I have two guesses.
I am glad you were able to mount it, and as long as it is reading i really dont think its the cord.
Now did you partition your sd card? because if you did you turned it to a linux file and your windows pc cannot read that
can you reformat your sd card and try it again?
If you keep having issues pm me.
I have had problems with that on my wifes lg optimus so what i did i took out the SD card and downloaded Mini tool partition wizard home edition 7 i used this to reparation the sd card and then reinserted the sd card and it worked after that. note i did put a ext 3 partition on the sd card. also if you have two primary partitions on the card widows will only recogize the first one. not sure if that is the issue in this case but i hope this helps
here is the partition wizard download

[Q] My Passport was working, now I get USB storage is blank or has unsupported

I have a WD My Passport 2TB USB drive. It WAS working fine, I plug it into my PC and my tablet and then yesterday afternoon I started getting the error "USB storage is blank or has unsupported filesystem". I might have unplugged it from android without clicking to safely remove it.
Key info:
-It works fine on my PC, and I did a tools and Error-checking on my PC on the drive and it found now errors. And I deleted files on the drive related to Android
-It's NTFS format.
-I have restarted the tablet, cleared the cache partition.
-Any other USB drive works fine on the tablet.
-IT DID WORK GREAT UNTIL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.
Any thoughts? are there any files within android related to a specific USB deviced that could be locked/corrupt I can delete that might clear this?
This had happened before on a different tablet/different USB device and power cycling the tablet cleared the problem.
Could there be a setting issue that has changed that is stopping the Passport from getting the power it needs?
No one had any thoughts on this?....
does all other ntfs drives don't read too?
does all other ntfs drives don't read too?

Problem with connection to PC

There are a few problems with the connection to my PC:
1. If I try to move a file on my phone memory or SD card to another folder (still on phone memory or SD card) it loads forever and does nothing, if I stop the process, the file is GONE!
2. Same with copy-paste, process never ends.
3. Sometimes when copying files from PC to the phone, after a while the transfer stops, it says the phone is disconnected or not answearing.
It makes file transfering so hard... Any ideas what is it and how to solve?
Thanks!
First things. Have you checked your phone data port is clean of dirt? Have you tried other USB cables? I recent folded one of my cables and it hasn't worked right since.
Next what phone model and Android are using?
Had these bugs before with my Tablet. Here are some tips you should try:
- Change your USB Cable or USB ports.
- Try switching the USB connectivy functions on your phone and switch it a few times between MTP and Camera or others.
- Try with a different Computer.
- Try putting your SD card on an adapter or on another Device to check if it's not damaged.
Hopefully one of these work

I have a problem with my pixel 2 xl and can't figure out why

My issue is connecting to an usb-c flash drive. My usb-c flash drive is Samsung 128gb. It works half of the time. What I mean is it works when I am home and not at work.
Right now work.
I plug my flash drive in to my pixel 2 xl.
ES file manager comes up
Show my usb drive with capacity then disappear
I got notification bar and pick transfer file
My flashdrive show up and disappear again
I have also tried ptp, midi, charge, and supply power. Same thing happens, show and disappear
I enable developer options.
I tried both enable and disable usb debugger
I tried selecting usb configuration from mtm to ptp.
I have an applocker app. I disable it and enable it.
I disable and enable smart lock
Google tech asked me to use their usb adapter. It works when I am home.
When I am home, I have no issue. my usb flash drive works fine.
I hope this is not similar to that star trek card game that Capt Kirk invented, Fizzbin. It aian't tuesday.
does anyone have any idea I can try?
Maybe I missed something.
maybe I enable something I shouldn't have
I am able to connect to a computer fine.
If I left the usb connected and restart, I get "still rejecting Samsung USB drive. Don't remove."
Hmm... are you saying your PHONE recognizes the OTG drive at home but not at work? Are you rooted and have tried StickMount? Sounds more like a drive going bad or a formatting issue and its just working half the time. How is your drive formatted btw? FAT32? You probably already know Android doesn't support NTFS. Also for the record, ES File Explorer is a serious P.O.S. Do yourself a favor and get Solid Explorer. It goes on sale around Xmas time and is worth every penny.
I do have solid explorer. I need to change the default to Solid. I used my phone to format my flash drive. Everyday at work is the same. Doesn’t work before 4:xx pm and works after that. Today I tried a 256 gb with an adapter and it was working (4:4x). After that i put in my samsung 128gb usb-c and it works. Both doesn’t work in the morning or before 4:xxpm.
My phone is not rooted.

I asked how the drive was formatted, meaning what file system it was formatted to? You said you used your phone to format the drive, but the question still stands... Is it formatted with FAT32, exFAT , Ext3 / Ext 4? Whatever it is, use a PC to reformat it to a different one of these supported file formats. Try exFAT first. The whole "time" thing has no bearing on this whatsoever. It is either a hardware issue with the Samsung or a formatting issue with the drive. Note: please use the "Reply" button so I get notified when you respond.

I am sorry for not responding back sooner.
I tried to format my usb to exfat, but my phone said it doesn't support that and need to reformat it. It reformated my flash drive to fat32
yeah I have a 256GB Sandisk Dual M3.0 OTG drive and my Pixel 2 XL always format the drive to FAT32 and can't support FILES larger than 4GB.
Are there kernels out there that support exFat for the Pixel 2 XL???
