Rooting question

Hi guys,
This is a very nooby question, but i was wondering exactly what benefit do i get for rooting my desire. Is rooting only required to install newer roms?
Also, if i were to simply root the desire would i lose any functionality such as bluetooth not working or wifi not working or the LEDs working?
I'm thinking of following the following guides for rooting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672770
But before I do that, I just wanted to know what exactly is the point of rooting. any comments would be appreciated
Some benefits are:
Flashing Custom Roms
Marked Enabler ( If you cant get payed apps in your country )
You can Customize your phone a bit more
Flaws :
You loose your warranty...
Yea thats what i was wondering too.
I guess I wont root my phone for a bit, until the 2.2 roms are more stable, because i can already search for paid apps
thanks for the response
Even more nooby question.. what is this flashing custom ROM?
yea.. im new
Flashing ROMS enables you to customise the phone. On the ROM i installed i did not put facebook, twitter, friendstream, quick office and many other apps that come with the phone as i dont use them.
The main reason why i rooted the phone was to install a ROM with A2SD+ on it.
On standard android operating system the apps are installed on the internal memory which is only around 140mb, Basically A2SD+ installs all the apps on the SD card.
I have installed around 85 apps and still have around 102mb free.
P.s. i used this rooting guide, http://nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire/
But i did not use that way to install a2sd because i installed a2sd+ instead.

[Q] Downgrade to Jellybean with Root

Hello guys!
When I got my phone I immediately updated to Kitkat. I just like all my devices and apps updated to the newest, no matter how good or bad the new update is After I read that the battery life of Jellybean is incredibly better than the one from kitkat I decided that a downgrade would be a good thing.
I know that this question was already asked by rubez but I don't believe it is as easy as just flashing the jellybean ftf through flashtool. In some other threads people wrote that the phone can easily brake if you don't check the right options in flashtool. I'm very confused over all the different opinions the people had. Furtheron I want to stay rooted when downgrading, so this makes my dilemma more difficult.
So can (preferably) an expert tell me how to do downgrade to jellybean without loosing root?
Can I use the instructions from this thread although it's seems only to be for UPDATES?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688933
Btw, what exactly do I lose if I downgrade to Jellybean?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, you can.

Help! Installing custom rom, kernel and rooting

Hi
I was wondering if some one would help me and answer some questions about rooting, installing custom roms and kernels on my LG G3 - D855. I am a complete novice when it comes to installing any 3rd party software on phones.
I wish to install a custom rom (Cyanengine mod 12 Android L 5.0.2) onto my phone and possibly a custom kernel to improve the battery life. I believe I have to root to do this as well?
One of my worries is that I could brick my phone. If I do this , is it fixable? What order should I go about installing the modifications? Root, rom , kernel? Root, kernel , rom? Also what is TWRP? Sorry for the amount of questions, but I would be really grateful if some one could explain the process, and any thing I should avoid.
Thanks Again
regards

First you must root. Then you should install TWRP. TWRP is just an option you give your phone to do many things like flashing (placing) programs to your phone, backing up everything (Including your current ROM, data, apps, etc.), and deleting everything and wiping your device.
Bricking is possible, but if you follow a guide step-by-step you shouldn't. TWRP should be a major priority. You must root first, then you can do that. This custom recovery will allow you to backup everything. If you brick your phone, TWRP is your only way out BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A BACKUP TO UNDO IT.
I wouldn't worry about a custom kernel because with root you will have access to so many options that you can customize your phone to use less battery.
Therefore, you should root, install TWRP, then install Cyanogenmod 12. There are so so so many guides for doing these and a quick google search will get you right into it.
Send me a message if you have specific questions -- I'd be glad to help you out. I was in your shoes not too long ago as well.
Hope this helps!

Please help me!

First of all, sorry for my bad english,im Spanish and im was trying learn this language.
I write a post becouse i have a problems and i need a hard help with my LG G4.
Okey, now i will post my troubles.
My first trouble with LG G4 it's i have doubts (My lg g4 it's free thanks to the guarantee but will expire early). Playing Clash Royale with my LG G4 have a micro frezees never have it and i doubt from LG, becouse i was battled so hard for change my smartphone (the first was a bootloop problems).
My 2nd trouble it's about bootloader, my phone has locked bootloader and i know, i can't install custom roms but i dont want this, i only want stay in Stock Rom (Changiung stock launcher for other better like nova or similar idk)+ Root + Maybe Xposed + No bloatware.
My initial idea it's have a stock rom (like Lollipop V10G) + ROOT and then have a backup for trying install and uninstall apps safe without staying all of time flashing and rooting but when i try restore backup with Titanium Backup i have a bootloader problems and the only way for turn on the phone it's flashing stock rom (Lose root etc..). ¿The question it's i have a way for do Backups with botloader locked and then restore it and the phone stay exactly the same before install/uninstalling?
And the third and last question at this moment if the 2nd trouble dont have solve,i can't do a kdz with my pc based in v10 or MM (don't care, only want bests stock rooms) and delete all of bloatware and add some app (Like nova for example) (Sry im a noob with that phone and i read hard but i dont understand).
Thank you very much for your help dudes, rly.

about rooting my g960f

I started to think about rooting my g960f, it is a week year old device and the ads in apps annoys me so much. I will be using root to disable bixby through root uninstaller, if you have any other suggestions please tell. also I will be using mother of adblock, if you have any other suggestions please tell. I still have some questions.
- Is there any way to root the phone without custom recovery?
- will I be able to install system updates if I root the phone? if not how am I supposed to install them when the device is rooted?
- will it lose any of its features? if yes, which features?
- will I be able to go full stock again and gain all the lost features back?
I wont be installing custom rom as I already liked the stock rom but it needs some modification. I am sure that most of the people has the same questions in their minds so your answers would help many.
