It seems so fast to me?. you just need to capture your fingers well and turn of the touch sensitivity...

Well it's "faster" in that I don't have to try 3-4 times for the damn fingerprint to capture. Now fingerprint is actually usable. Thanks!

One more thing to add - if I just push a little the finger on screen, response of FP is great now.
Test yourself

fast firgerprint whit june update

this trick worked for the first day then back to been slow again the next day !!!

It doesn't work. It just the same if you delete your fingerprint and it again. Works only for 1 day and goes back to the same.

Exactly !
Increasing the sensitivity has nothing to do with the fingerprint sensor detection speed. It increases the sensitivity/response of the screen & not fingerprint sensor.
Developers at Samsung can increase the speed of indisplay fingerprint scanner if they improve the Fp_Api, service routine & hal vendor.
It's currently not open source, ofcourse, hence no Open side development is possible.
Btw, Jerry rig confirmed on his A50 teardown that the A50 fingerprint sensor is of newer generation.
Cheers !

Face Unlock much slower after today's update =(

After updating to 43 OTA 004, Faceunlock is no longer instant. now you see first the lockscreen flash and then UI slide in. I went back to 43 OTA 003, but same situation.
before it was just press powerbutton/doubletap screen and the screen turned on showing instantly UI whereever you left off. just like all the reviewers showed it. I dont have file to go back to inital firmware 001 .... :/
VERY DISAPPOINTING, it really breaks the "instant" feeling. hope they fix it soon.
meanwhile, no speed increase in fingerprint reader. still slightly slower than OP3.
UPDATE: solved - it is Nova Launcher with a custom wallpaper that caused this -> back to Oneplus launcher, set new wallpaper = FaceUnlock instant again!
Not a terrible trade-off for more security.
FP sensor still fast af.

ewww i hope not, then there is no difference than what was on the OP3/T smart lock, i liked the option that u didn't have to swipe up, i will prob return mine if this is the case.

sooo, not security focused then. also doesnt explain why it now shows the lockscreen, instead of unlocking straight to UI... like with fingerprint

thanks, ok then i did something to cause it... hm too bad
Here on 4.7.2 its also slow.
I had the same problem and factory reset: face unlock is back to being instant, and the finger print reader is noticeably faster. It is troublesome, however, that an OTA forced me to factory reset a 3 day old phone...
I have also reset after update but not solved.
I updated homescreen and lockscreen wallpaper with a custom one and experienced a slight drop on face unlock speed. Meaning that I was able to see the lockscreen for 1/10 of a second before the homescreen was there. I reverted the wallpaper choosing one of oneplus 's and face unlock speed was back to instant. Just a tip.
Works fine for me. I'm on FreedomOS based on Oxygen 4.7.2.

Fingerprint is always faster and more secure. You can go back into settings and add more face data for faster unlock.

Yeah it's cool if your hands are full I guess. Or you have something on your hands like gloves or chocolate
It works good in the dark to with brightness up
I am using face unlock with double tap to wake up screen from motion control settings. It is kind of fast but finger print unlock is way faster.
I fell that the FU is pretty good compare to others in the mid game but compare to iphone x or 5T is nothing....but in anycase using it in lowlight is pretty bad but i prefer the finger is faster but you can use both remember that.
Mine unlocks in less than a second with face but I use fingerprint as well.

Fingerprint solution ?

This worked for me....try it!!! dont waste nothing
simple.....install NiceLock, download and install Lockstar module...and see the difference!

Lockstar module doesn't make any difference on the fingerprint.....
Lockstar just give you the possibility to personalize the lock bar...
STOP TO OPEN THREAD TO TELL BULL**** ABOUT WAYS TO IMPROVE FINGERPRINT UNLOCK
The only way to improve is by software optimization
You can make it a little fastER by enable touch respons in the options. Notthing else.

I have installed and tested whole day yesterday but all was the same. Nice Lock is another apk to customise locking in combo with LockStar module but nothing else then that...
Samsung must work on software that controlling FP nodule.
Sent from my Galaxy A50 using Tapatalk
The nice lock lockscreen is indeed more agile than the stock one, but it does not improve the fingerprint scanner, just the speed up the unlocking process. My guess is that's lighter than the stock one.
Speaking of lock star, changing the task changer to carrousel, scale animation and toggling the mini mode makes a huge difference on the overall smoothnes of the device too, I recommend you to try it.
You are a very young user of this community and you must learn more. If you browse this forum you will notice, that many users already reported that they have found God blessed remedy for A50 fingerprint. As time passed it appeared, that it was only temporarily. A50 is working in strange manner: many times in row perfectly and next suddenly degrading performance.
The gold thought here is: what is good for me not necessarily is good for me and vice versa.
We do not know why FB is so erratic. Maybe it is hardware problem. Maybe your skin is genetically softer then other. Maybe in your place air humidity is higher or lower and that is why it helped personally you but it doeas not mean it will help anyone else.

[No root] Finally, an app to enable native Lift To Wake (lockscreen)

OnePlus Lift To Wake
TL, DR. Where is the download?
github.com/xubowenhaoren/OPLiftToWake/releases
What does it do?
This is a simple app to enable Lift To Wake for OnePlus 7 series.
It is not the Lift To "Ambient Display" in the stock Settings App; it enables the true Lift To "Lock Screen" like other phones.
Why do I want this feature?
You've probably already known that OnePlus, in Android 10, reveals the notification content on the lock screen after Face Unlock.
But to see those notifications, you either need to:
1. Pick up the phone and unlock with your finger at the Ambient Display. A two-step process.
2. Pick up the phone and press the power button. Again, a two-step process.
Now with the app, you can pick up the phone and the lock screen immediately shows up.
How does it do this?
It listens to the native system sensor (`oneplus.sensor.pickup`). In my testing, it is very power efficient.
What phones does it support?
I have tested this on a OnePlus 7T with Android 10. It should also work with other OnePlus 7 series.
Note that for earlier OnePlus phones, there is also a [pickup sensor] but with a different name.
If you want this app to work with earlier OnePlus phones, you should try replacing this line in `Utils.java` with the correct sensor name:
```
mSensor = Utils.getSensor(context, mSensorManager, "oneplus.sensor.pickup");
```
How do I use it?
You probably want to turn off the Ambient Display first.
After installing the app, turn on the "Lift To Wake" toggle.
You should also consider turning off the battery optimization of the app for a more consistent background performance.
Do I need Magisk for this?
No, it is root-free.
Credits
Much of the code is from the Lineage OS team.
Other code references can be found in the code comments.
This is brilliant!! Appears to be working great... Will provide an update on power efficiency in a while

I've made efforts to enable this service after reboot. It wasn't successful, however. Oxygen OS has a strict whitelist of apps that may start automatically after a reboot. One way to work around this is to use Accessibility Service, but that could cause more battery drain. Lol, I think it's better to leave things this way.
Very useful app, this was my most demanding functionality after bought OP7T
Thank You For this
Can u add to the store please?
Nice app. Thnks
It works great for op7t, but doesn't work for Op7.
On op7, the screen lights up, but faceunlock is not available.
You need to click on faceicon first to work (screens in atach).
But, if you unlock op7 via the power button (second screen in atach) - faceunlcok works great!
Is there any solutions for op7?
Works as it should! But screen wakes a lot while inside the pocket.
Very useful mod, thx for that
Only issue that it doesn't work anymore after some hours,i need to start the app again to get it working again for a few hours. I already have disabled battery optimisation. Any ideas to fix this?
Regards ysco..
Hello, how can i make it work on Oneplus 8?
This app is great, something I've been looking for a while. But, it doesn't work consistently. It stops after a few hours after I enable it. Then I have to open the app and then it will 'realize' the switch is still on and start working again. Is there a solution for this?
Thanks bud!! It works like a charm!!
Looks really helpful.
Works good also.
Thanks.

Motorola Edge 5G fingerprint reader

The Motorola Edge fingerprint reader has problems with recognizing the fingerprint. It all depends on what animation you use. It's responsive enough with radial waves setting, but, the others, not so much. Which one do you use?
Interesting theory. I'll test it and post back if I find a difference.

Hopefully, the next(??) update will fix that. I would love a bigger choice of animations, or the ability to turn it off.
I've noticed this as well. Doesn't make any sense.
Gave up on using it. Face unlock, with pattern for now. Maybe a update, or rom will fix it someday. Even if face unlock doesn't recognize your face, the pattern grid pops up. The fingerprint reader, you have to keep pressing, til it gives up, then you get another option.
