You can try using an app like LTE Discovery but normally manually switching the band your phone is connected to requires that your phone be rooted and I'm not sure it's possible on newer versions of Android even if you do have root access.
Resetting your network connection or putting your phone in airplane mode for 5 minutes then turning airplane mode off might result in a better network connection since it will be refreshed.
However, phones are usually programmed to default to the strongest network signal rather than the fastest so you might end up back on the same band even though you are unhappy with the speed.

Open the Phone dialer and enter ##3282# (##DATA#)
Then click Edit
Then enter the MSL which is 000000 (6 zeros)
Then click LTE
Then click Band Priority
Select the band giving you problems and move it to the bottom of the list.( By assigning it the bottom priority number which in my case is 18.)
I added screenshots with the options circled

They're primarily LTE now like everyone else. HDVoice (VOLTE), and RCS via Android Messages app. They're moving to all 4G and eventually 5G whenever there network owner King Street Wireless starts building it.
Switched to Sprint for the faster speeds otherwise they do work good in the middle of nowhere.

Yes the code ##3282# definitely only works on Sprint firmware which is a clusterf*ck of CDMA/WiMax/LTE mess. lol
It's one of the last carriers in the US (and MetroPCS) where you have to call them every time you want to move your sim card to another phone, because they have to "update" your MEID/IMEI in their network.
Oh, and that LTE priority band settings only applies to Sprint sim cards, as soon as you change it to another carrier, those settings are not being utilized at all.

Switching lte on

Hi friends who ever bought the t-mobile galaxy note can u try this option to check whether u can change the settings for data connection .I have a galaxy s3 where I used to this option to switch off lte to conserve battery .it worked fine.if this process works and u get the options to change connection type then you are good to buy t-mobile galaxy note 2 to use lte on at&t because I heard both t-mobile and at&t note versions has same chip inside but lte is temporarily disabled in t-mobile version .
1) With phone on, take off back cover and press your SIM card so it releases from the spring. It won't come all the way out as it's blocked by the battery. This seems fine - I didn't bother trying to force it out as I didn't want to break anything...
2) Once you see the message that the SIM card is removed, go to the dialer and dial *#2263#
3) You should see a menu with band selections. The current setting is "Automatic". If you switch to "GSM All", you will be EDGE (2G). If you switch to "WCDMA All", you will be on HSPA+ (3G, though AT&T and others call it 4G) and you will have lte too
4) Press the SIM card back into place until it clicks. For whatever reason the phone will not recognize it until you reboot. Upon reboot you should see your new setting in effect.

Fwiw I believe you can do this without rebooting.
At least when switching the gsm radio bands. I often check 1900 mhz in my area of nyc by doing #*2263#
I have done this for Lte and it just says no service. Perhaps I should get at&t to show up but this far it hasn't worked.
I'm interested in what other people know about this!
If I click the SIM it doesn't come out enough (hits the battery) to tell me SIM removed . No dice on that approach for me.

You can select bands from any Samsung Galaxy device (that I've tried) by entering this code into the dialer. *#*#197328640#*#*
A menu pops up which give you lots of options. To get to band options, choose Debug Screen, Phone Control, Network Control, Band Selection. Don't get excited, every device I've seen has an LTE option in there, but that doesn't mean your phone has LTE hardware.
Another for the SIM not coming out far enough. Also, with the *#197328640#, the 'Debug Screen' was under UMTS.
My GN2 is carrier unlocked and I have the SIM from my AT&T iPhone4 in it. I'm not sure that SIM would even be LTE compatible anyhow since all I had with the iPhone4 was 3G.

If the battery blocks the SIM, can't you just take the SIM out, boot up the phone with no SIM, and do the same thing?
If this T-Mobile version physically HAS the LTE radio that AT&T uses, does anyone know what it would take to get it working on AT&T's LTE?

If you mean being able to use internet during a call, it depends on your carrier and the wireless technology they use.
If your carrier uses cdma technology (e.g. Verizon), then you cant, as cdma does not support voice and packet service simultaneously.
If wcdma is used, then you can used both voice and packet service at the same time.

Is that you mean this is the network operator problem, not Note 2 (phone) problem?
But I tried to use the same network operator (in my country called DIGI, my current phone line) with IPhone, it work fine!!
But, when I put the same SIM card into Note 2, it does not 'always' work!! I mean sometime it work, most of the time it does not work!!

Check to see if thats the case in ur note 2, use the internet and call from home or ask a buddy to call u .

Your area may have bad 3g connection (3g,H,H+) and signal will drop to only GSM (GPRS/EDGE). In GSM mode you cannot make calls and use data connection at the same time.
Try changing your network connection to only WCDMA and retest.

[Q] At&t S3 On MetroPCS LTE/TmobileLTE

Hi guys, i have a s3 i747 that has been unlocked and ready to be used on other gsm networks.
I went to a metropcs store and had the phone activated and sim card inserted, my imei was connected fine and everything went great.
I instantly had EDGE(1x or 2g) and even after hours of searching and phone calls to metropcs all i can find is APN solutions that dont work.
I currently live in Dallas/Ft Worth so i know the LTE coverage for Metropcs/Tmo is amazing it just ill not connect to LTE.
How do i get LTE to work on this device ??
Phone Specs
Has root
Unlocked
S3 i747 from At&t
Worked fine on At&T for LTE
Su keeps for closing at start because it says security issues
Stock rom on 4.3 but it says custom build under about settings for some reason.
Data speed is about 0.09-0.10mbps
Any help would be great. Sorry if this is a repost of other types of threads but i never found answers and did not want to re awaken old threads.

This issue seems popular this week.
If it's like the others, it's an issue from unlocking. the nv file gets damaged. The solution so far is to use nv-reader-writer to copy another phone's nv file and replace yours with it.
have you tested *#*#4636#*#* method? just mess around with the preferred network and see

Sir, i tried to use the nv tool but it keeps saying phone wont connect.
i have the drivers installed, it sees my ports for the phone, i go to connect and it does, but when i click read device it fails. Ive had no boxes checked, one box checked and both boxes for spc and fast read(i think it is) checked. No Go either way. Any suggestions for this? Then i can see if the NV Writer is a solution. Also i can use my own NV file right??? Or would that just be a corrupted file being reloaded ?? If thats the case how do i find a clean NV file for a Samsung Galaxy S3 i747 for AT&T??? Thanks again for the help brother

Ok guys i tried some settings. a guy i know tried to inject the AWS for Tmobiles band freq. and it didnt work.
SOooooooooo im thinking we might have to skip AT&T phones on metro/tmo and get a tmo phone or a AT&T phone that supports AWS band freq.

Wait....How are you getting 4g ?? it might not be LTE but da*m its faster than Edge. Could you tell me your apn, and your settings if you changed anything since you first switched to metropcs.
Like dial star, hash(number sign)twice, the 4636 and star, hash star, hash and go to device info, then screen shot, then scroll down and screen shot again where i can see "set preferred network"
also man are you sure you have the S3 I747 from AT&T??
Make sure you are checking your connection in Settings > About Device > Status > Network Type
You cant always trust what's displayed in the status bar. Especially when using a custom rom or using a device on a different network than it was intended for.
Yea man I know. I've checked everything and says edge still.
I think it's based on your radio and kernel. Brad what kernel and radio you using.?
I'm on 4.3 Rooted and stock.

It needs to be 3845#*850# because its the D850 not the 855
My M7 had an option to switch from LTE auot to WCDMA/GSM Auto - no such luck on the G3?
LTE at work is so over saturated I get better speeds on WCDMA but I can't get my phone to switch besides doing the dialer method.

Tasker should be able to do this for you if the magic menu does not. You can even configure Tasker to automatically sense cell phone towers at work and convert to WCDMA, then auto-switch back to LTE once you are no longer in the vicinity of the cell phone towers. Just one of the many, many amazing and useful things Tasker can do for you.

[Q] Speeding up Data

So I'm new to Samsung and it's glorious Note 4 after having been on the HTC Evo boat all the way up to the one M7 and M7 Max (because HTC and their on screen buttons suck) and back on the HTC phones there was a way to speed up data by zeroing out the sprint proxies with you MSL code in the ##Data# menu. My question is, is there a variant of this procedure on the note 4? I have my MSL code and after looking through the Data menu i don't see such an option, unless i'm blind of course..
It's done the same way.
So what is that actually doing? And what are the steps. I've never heard of this.
The thing with the spark device that helps in increase of speed is the LTE band priority. .
##data# go to lte > band priority....
Change the priority from 25, 26, 41...
To 41, 26, 25

Chat with Sprint on your phone. I just told them I am a ROM developer and I need it. If they throw a fit, cancel the current chat session and jump into another one. Someone will give it to you, I have asked for 3 different MSL's from 3 different phones in the last 2 months with no problems.
