Questions Before I buy The Mate 20X - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Hey guys... I got some question before I buy this phone:
1) Is the wifi signal since the last update good or bad?
2) Is the wifi range good?
3) Is there dark mode?
4) Can you add themes to make it look cool since the UI looks dated?
5) Any reason why I shouldnt buy this phone?

1. Wifi is good enpugh
2. There is Dark mode
3. You can ad theme
4. If you need big display than you can not find any alternative of Mate 20 X. It is the best 7.2 Inch big display phone. But if big display not must then overall best phones are made by Samsung. The only reason you shouldn’t buy mate 20 x is it software and camera is so bad. But surely interms of big display phone it is the best

Why would you say the camera on Mate 20X is bad? It has the same exact camera as Mate 20 Pro and that was rated as one of best cameras of 2018.

Actually I am using Mate 20 X and practically I am seeing the camera is ok but not very good. Software issue mayb! May be on papers it is a excellent canera but in real-life I am not feeling it has good camer. But its ok and not bad. But samsung provide the best camera. Samsung hase no 7+ inch smartphone so I have to use Huawei Mate 20 X. Ohh, it has side which is far better than samsun, and it is it's battery backup best an unbeatable

1. Signal is better on the 310 update compared to the 300 & 208
2. Range depends on if you're using 2.4Ghz vs 5Ghz, your router and obstacles in the way; but overall range is decent
3. Yes: Settings-Battery-Darken Interface Colours
4. Yes; You can use custom launchers easily on the international model EVR-L29. I use Nova Launcher as an example.
5. Reasons to not buy this phone really depends on your preference:
- The screen is really big (7.2") so it's not for compact or thin lovers.
- It has a teardrop notch, so it's not for notch haters
- Bootloader is currently locked, so can't root for new users
- If you're in the U.S, then you have to consider the trade tension involving Huawei (It's ok now, but the situation is volatile and can change anytime)
- Mate 30 X MAY come out end of the year. So if you're willing to wait and see, the new one could be better. But then again, 30 X may not come.
Just to balance out the cons:
- Amazing battery life
- Great performance both on games and everyday use
- Great camera. I use the superwide & macro mode alot
- Huge clear display
- Decent dual speakers

What phone to get after Desire?

I had HTC Desire for nearly 3 years, and it is a great phone, but I think it is time to upgrade, because:
- it is annoyingly slow with my regular set of programs installed, even on fastest available roms
- it doesn't have kernel 3.0, and because of that JB roms have shortcomings
- a little bit too small screen for GPS navigation
- really crappy camera
- somewhat short battery life
Some time ago I had a chance to look at Galaxy S2 in person and it looked like a perfect phone (at least for 2 minutes I had it in my hands).
Somewhat bigger screen, more internal storage, kernel 3.0.
I use custom roms, so big development community is important for me. I have been spoiled by Desire as it (still) has a large one.
Galaxy S2 would cost me around 170-200 euro to get it.
Should I take that, or look for something else in this price range?
My requirements:
- larger screen (not necessarily much larger)
- android (duh)
- solid build quality
- large development community
- noticeably faster CPU than Desire (Dual+ core would come in handy)
- microUSB
- good/very good camera
- good battery life
- price up to 200 euro (used)
- would be nice if it had FM transmitter (not receiver) but it is not necessary
- it must by BLACK or therebout
I also considered s2 but there's one serious setback to it. Namely, the screen is amoled and without pentile matrix.
What's bad about it you ask? pixels that are frequently used lose color and items that you have on screen for most time are somewhat paler than the rest of the screen, and you can see their shadow for the whole time, ppl reported that with all amoled displays and non pentile of s2 is even more susceptible to that. That happens even to devices 3 months old, depending on how heavily they are used I guess. You can google it to see for yourself, just type galaxy s2 amoled burn in. There are also few good YouTube vids showing that. Items that you usually can see are burned in status bar, soft keys from your most used app, keyboard, alarm icon and "fully charged" sign across the screen as during night charging the phone lights up when battery is full and keeps the screen on until you turn it off or unplug it/on some ROMs at least, stock including/.
Is Desire not affected by that?
Then what else would you suggest?
Only first edition of desire pvt1 I believe had amoled screens, the rest are sporting slcd which is not organic and does not suffer from this burn in effect.

Go for SGS2+. It is newer phone, available almost at the same price as SGS2, probably have warranty and no burn-in effect of any major cosmetic wear.
But I think there is no black variant, but dark blue.
Price is 200-230 EUR.

S2+ makes no sense, is more expensive than regular s2, has same screen with same setbacks and worse gpu, videocoreiv vs Mali 400.
Sensation seems good, but I've got no experience with that phone.
If you want a dev community supporting your device, avoid htc phones. HTC is terribly slow when it comes to releasing updates and sources.

I disagree with you. But again, it is on him to pick something that he likes. We are here to suggest him.
I like HTC Because of Sense, speed (on some new devices) new features big rom list's etc. I dont like samsung bcs every new phone (LG,ZTE,Nokia,Sony, and many more) are copy of Samsung,Same android UI, same phone design i will say. JUST A COPY .
HTC Have some original from begining of production for me that is a great and like i sayed i will suggest you to buy some HTC Model (HTC One X, HTC Sensation.not new but very good, HTC One v (it is not so special but it is very good, speed, and it is very Cheap)
But if you want to buy some other phone mark Yes i will suggest you to but SGSII or SGSIII Mini. Mini have small Display but have great camera great speed great support and what is importatt you can find it for 170/80 Eur
If i helped something to you give FIRST THANKS to my profile
+1 for the sensation, i baught mine used for 100 euro and its like brand new, i got it off a guy cheap coz it was stuck in bootloader lol, i got it home, flashed a ruu then s-off & rooted and it has great dev support, loads of sense roms, 3.5 - 3.6 - 4.1 - 4+ and now waiting for team venom to release sense 5. Also loads of JB - AOSP roms and 4.3 JB roms, really is a great phone with good hardware to handle all roms.
About sensation, the newer roms have working camera/video or is it stuck with that issue like our old desires?
And how do you cope without the trackpad, I tend to write lengthy emails/forum posts and it's a great tool when I want too correct something, yet no other phone has it. does it mean trouble for guys like me?

everything works, and i never really used trackpad on the desire.
I would never buy sensation. Death grip issues and dust under screen glass is way too much for me. Sgs2+ is ftw in my opinion.

Meh, I am stuck.
I read around here that s2 display is horrible when compared to s3.
s3 has even cheaper feel, and is 100-170e more expensive
Sensation is useless to me.
Price of S4 is absurd...

What bout One X/S? In ireland they going for bout 175 - 225 euro, good all round phone and fairly solid.
One S would be good bargain, but no official 4.2.2 for him. He is eol already, unfortunately. One X is expensive, like S3.

My friend is selling his One X for 200 euro in mint condition, he dont use it, its just sitting in his drawer. I was gona buy it but i always wanted a sensation lol. If ur interested i could say to him, he has it a while so maybe i can get it cheaper for u. Postage would be round 10 euro. Let me know
P.S - im not dodgy r that, user k3lcior had no gps antenna so i gave him mine from my desire (coz my desire is dead), free of charge, and i posted it to poland.
well if I may make a suggestion, I would say get the Nexus 4
Pros: (according to what you listed)
larger screen and clearer screen
will always have the latest and greatest Android OS since its from Google
I don't remember the build quality on it but I know its at least better than the desire
haven't checked the dev support but since its a bit more open.... should still be better than the desire
very fast 1.5GHz quad-core CPU
microUSB
8MP camera and a 1.3MP front cam
decent 2,100 mAh battery
and most importantly it comes in Black
Cons:
its $300 which about 224 euros (so slightly over budget although sorta worth it)
no FM trasmitter
limited storage and no SD card expansion
so really its an amazing phone, its mainly only brought down by not having an SD card slot but if you find the 8 or 16GB models fine then I'd say go for it.

LeEco Le Pro 3 Review (Real User Review)

I've had my Le Pro 3 for over a week now and just published my full detailed video review which covers pretty much everything from the design, cameras, dual loudspeakers, benchmarks, GPS and wifi range and speeds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfTIx-DWcmo
I also ran a speed test and comparison against my Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus just to see how they compared as both have Snapdragon 821's and 4GB of RAM.
Overall it's a very decent mobile however, it still has the flaws from the Le Max 2, large black bezels, no MicroSD or 3.5mm port are deal breakers for some. Audio from the type-c to 3.5mm adaptor is very clean and sounds great. No static and loud too.
The camera is a bit of a let down, no OIS still and while it can take some decent photos in good light, low light and video is not the greatest for a flagship mobile. The Chinese need to really step up their game on the camera department. I wouldn't by this mobile for the best camera, I would buy it for good performance and great battery life. I was able to get around 11 hours of SoC (continuous)

Thx with this first review
Thank you And great job !
I was planning to ditch my Axon 7 for this phone, but not really that sure anymore. Seems like a lateral transfer, not really an upgrade in any way (except for battery life I suppose?).
wow..12hr screen on time. That is impressive.

I want to buy the phone because it has great specs (does it feel as good as it sounds?) but I want to know if google services work flawlessly e.g. contact syncing, play store. Since you have this phone what is your general opinion about it, does it work buying it?

I also have this phone. No problem with Google services or Play store. Contactar syncing was perfect, with Google account and others account.
Two days with It and i like It a lot.
In my experience 6:30 of screen with 4G and almost without wifi.
Sorry for my english.
Thanks for the review. Maybe the Pro3 is not the best phone ever made. But it seems to be very very good, will most likely not explode and - taking into account the price - there is simply no competition. Hopefully, my phone will be delivered soon ...
I've received it today...very beautiful and work really good. We need an international ROM however.
I have this problem...it doesn't let me change or delete default APN. A problem I read is already present in other EUI smartphone someone has solved this Problem?

Thanks for that great review. Just some questions. Believe there are some like me who do not have access to LeEco products but are still keen on buying from an online reseller but have some concerns.
1. Are there any noticeable hardware issues? - understand that there are some complaints recently even on the le 2 that the display was not installed properly. Wondering if there are other types of defects that could render the device unusable for the obsessive compulsive people out there
2. What sort of rom is your unit using? - Importers/international sellers are known to meddle with the device to cater to the demands of their target demographic especially to those outside of china, hence, they can install fake roms (custom miui roms that don't receive updates for example) or install play store (after a restore to factory option, the gapps disappear)
3. The rom US units use seem to differ to the non-us units and the model numbers also differ. Would this be an issue if say the international rom is released and its not compatible with a unit bought from an importer? - had an issue before with a mi5 where the rom was an unofficial one and had to go through the hassle of unlocking the bootloader and installing the global rom instead
4.Any idea of software support in the long run and how prompt are LeEco's updates; ie Android N?
Thanks in advance and patience!
I know that US version x727 should be only 4/64 4gb ram and 64 GB ROM. It should have different LTE bands...in order to be used on us market.
Probably the us ROM couldn't be used on Chinese units.

Thanks for a great review. I am ordering this when it becomes available in the US. Can't beat the price for what is in it.

I have been using pro3 (x720) for three weeks. The screen display picture occasionally shake for about 0.2 second. This is the most disturbing issue. You can find the same complain in the Chinese leEco forum. Beside, mobile signal is not as strong as the nexus 5 I used for almost 3 years. If you can ignore these two issue, it's a great phone to have.

We all running stock rom with/without root. I hope it's rom related issue. As of now ,no official rom zip is available from LeEco.
Hi,
Just bought the 6/64 nonUS Version to use in Europe. Bought it after watching your review, thanks for that!....
Will directly root the phone in order to remove the chinese App's but wating for some plain Android rom's (stock Android). Had CM9 or so on a galaxy before and i wasnt that suprised as i supposed to be, but will also give it a try if it comes available to the Le Pro 3....
I'm sure with the actual specs and this awesome price the community behind the Pro3 will grow fast. Also i would donate 10€ to support the devs.
Sure to be here more often in future.
Thx&Rgds,
Maxcyber
I just got my Chinese version (6GB/64GB Dual Sim) - The phone is lightning fast. Screen looks great - camera is okay (I just snap pics anyways not really a photo person). The screen is decent if not a bit washed out. Indoors is just fine - outdoors I have to crank it to about 85% to see it. The fingerprint reader seems lightning fast if not 100% accurate. ( I get about 4 out 5 times). It let me add multiple fingerprints to unlock left or right handed. Overall the build is pretty solid. I put in my att sim and did not have to do anything else. Picked up all my settings. My antutu scores are 162397 - just shy of iphone 7 scores. Apparently the install is not google certified. I cannot run Pokemon Go or Android Pay (and snapchat I am told I don't use it). Pokemon Go is the soul breaker for me...
The GPS seems to lock lightning quick. I have not had any issues with Google apps although some updating had to happen (google services, play app, mail app etc...).
The battery seems amazing. I am getting great times out of it I don't have exact numbers but so far so good at least as good as my s7 edge.
I was able to put the google now launcher on it so no issue with the leeco skin.
Hopefully with the US launch tomorrow it will have a google certified image so I can run Pokemon go if not I am not sure I will keep it.
Pokemon go functions on official ROM ...see my screenshots.

Any body already bought the phone ??

Hey Peeps,
I am planning to buy this phone very soon in India...!! As always expecting cool Development stuff to be started on this Phone. If anybody has bought the phone, it would be great if you could spark up the discussion here in the forums.
How good is the Display ?? How are the Dual Cameras ?? Battery Backup ?? stuff like this.
Hello! I'm from Brazil and I bought one, here are my review:
-The screen is very good, does have a good brightness control (low is very dark and high is very clear.
-Speaker is not stereo, but I believe they removed that option on past devices already, but is very loud for a one-speaker.
-Battery can reach to a entire day plus half the next day if you use it moderately.
-Does not have a dual camera, this option is only for G5 plus not G5S - but for a 16mp camera its very good, and the frontal one (5MP) looks it does have decent quality on daylight ( I did not tested on during the night), does have led flash on both sides (frontal led =) and backwards led)
-I tried the dual window function and I left twitch app running in pop-out mode (it like to have 3 windows at same time) and the phone did no have any problem to execute them.
- does not have NFC
-If I'm not doing it wrong if you have the dual version the external sd card can be put on sim 2 slot but you will lose the dual sim function.
thats it, overall I liked the device and covered most of my needs but I really miss a root/recovery and bootloader unlocked at least to use xposed functions which I miss the most. But lets hope somebody help us with cool devs stuff!
Any other question I might have missed, let me know!
Hope to help you in your decision =)
Hi. Got it Today in Germany. I'm very sad about there is Case Available in Germany. I haven't Unboxed it. Its Birthday Gift for my Daughter. Have you a Case or a Link for some?
Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
Bought it today and so far I'm loving every aspect of it (my previous one was a Moto G 2014). I just really wanted to install TWRP and root but I only found methods for the G5S Plus. Does anyone know any way of doing it?
Got the phone for a few days now after destroying my Sony Z3 compact and like it so far. Camera and screen are very nice. Battery lasts 2 days so far, now at 29% on the 3rd day.

Not true. I used NFC to start the migration from the old phone.
Hello all!
Got G5s a couple of days ago; I'm moving from a Nexus4 and I was looking for an Android stock experience.
Pretty satisfied of phone: good screen and general usage, I'm loving fingerprint sensor and gesture associated to it!
I'm waiting for G5s modding because I'm missing root I hope G5s' threads will populate in next days...
I'm only disappointed about battery duration (just a full day, not more than this) but I have a strange battery consumption by 'Google Play services'... anyone has the same problem?
- Very pleased with the phone. It's less bulkier and does look better in real life than in review video's on youtube.
- Battery lasts almost two days and a turbocharger is included.
- Screen is beautiful. Had my S7 edge on 1080p default and in my opinion this is as good.
- Fingerprintreader is great and extremely fast (compared to the S7edge) and I like the swipe thing.
- Loudspeaker could be better but it's okay
- On apps like Plex and Netflix I do not loose my connection with the chromecast anymore
- Love the almost stock UI and the moto features
- 16mp camera is okay
I did install the moto key apk from the X4, so I can login to websites with my fingerprint. Lenovo should have made it available to the G5S too, because it just works, so why not include it.
Looking for a good phonecase now. Any suggestions?

Am in the same boat here in SE Asia can't find a case or a screen protecter and had the phone around 6 days now ..
Bought it two days ago for my wife.
+ screen is nice
+ aluminium unibody feels premium
+ fingerprint sensor is good
+ camera is OK, missing OIS
+ battery is good
- OS updates lag - no new ones for WIFI KRACK vulnerability. OS version is from June
- searching or case still
- speaker volume is average. Though good output.
Price performance is very good.
update came today. Oct 1 security patch and bugfixes.
I have few questions about this phone:
My phone will came to me tomorrow
Working fast? No lags with fb,messenger apps?

PD root & camera (two questions)

Hi Guys,
I've gotten a PD now which replaced my S7, apart from the battery, bigger screen and 256GB storage there is not a lot better.
1. I'd at least like to have root - I've now only found one thread where someone nearly bricked his device.
But this thread is far more than 1y old - are there any news for root?
2. Camera: While I had the S7 before - I think the double camera here does not perform any better. From what I've seen this might be also related to compression.
While the Huawei camera-app does not support to change the compression ratio / quality, is there any know camera app which utilizes the double-sensor and does perform better than the Huawei app?
Thanks and regards,
Maeffjus

Hi,
Congratulations on picking up the PD!
I own this and the note 8 and I can honestly say the camera on the PD outperforms the note camera by miles. Active shots, where either the camera or the subject are moving come out crisp.
The only reason I bought the note was because my banking apps kept saying the Huawei is using rooted firmware when it wasn't.
Performance is much smoother than the note and just all around the phone is better. I hope you find this as well, but as you use it more, I'm sure you will agree
Hi Charm,
Normally I had not abandoned the S7, but our GM came up one day with the brand new PD and said that this phone is for for me.
(in general: I'm using a company contract that I'm allowed to use it for all private things - so this is my only phone).
As per my opinion especially in low-light the P9Pro is a lot worse.
However, I'd like to know if there is an 3rd-party cam-app that can handle the two sensors.
And while you said that due to the root your software is complaining - do you have the PD or the "normal" one? And if it is the PD, how did you root it?
Regards,
Matthias

Well consider yourself lucky to be given such a nice phone for free haha!
I use full stock and even the phone is full stock. I have not rooted it, but the banking apps were saying it was rooted which is why I had to abandon it. So I have no idea how to root, but to be honest, I wouldn't root such an expensive phone.

I'd like to root it because I then can use a NFC emulator and combine my companies key for the door and the fob used for "arrival" and "leave" in our time-tracking system from my phone.
What I have found out and what is annoying AF: My bluetooth turns of from time to time by itself. This is especially no fun since I drive in my car with handsfree at lest twice a day plus got a BT connected smartwatch. Any idea how to solve this?

Op7t is a good phone already. Personally if i had that phone i'd keep it as is, if you jist plan to use it for phone, browsing, youtube, etc you're not gaining anything.
But benefits of the phone are.
- UFS 3.1
- more ram
- better benchmarks if thats your thing
- excellent gaming
-crazy long range wifi
- 144hz refresh rate ( again if thats your thing) i use 60 to 90hz
- has a fricken cooling fan built in.
The rom is surprisingly stable and seems to work well.
For android 10 there is a bootloader bypass, that allows you to root and install custom recovery without unlocking your bootloader ( unlocking bootloader corrupts your fingerprint reader)
There is already a official beta for android 11, it has a few battery bugs but should be fixed soon, with a global release a few weeks after china official release.
Now not so much.
- not water proof at all. ( There is literally two huge holes on either side for the fan) water = paperweight
- camera post processing could be better
-limited 5G supported bands ( be mindful the 5g does not work great everywhere, and it only has a few bands to support so check eith your current and local Service providors for 5g signal info.
Overall its a great phone. Worth it if you not fussed over 5g support, and the fact its not IP rated at all.
Replacing an already decent phone thsts up to you i replaced a 6 year old phone for it so it was worth it to me.

My main reason behind the idea of changing is because that my op7tp battery degraded also much its now 85% battery health, and there is no any op support here in the country where i stay in so thats why im thinking about a change
If you want a game solely for gaming features, then it is a great phone. I wouldn’t use it for daily use as my primary phone though.
The software is not great for everyday use. I get regular restarts and cant share screen captures, laggy when swapping between open apps after using for a while. Call quality is not great, everyone has trouble hearing me no matter what app I use for making the calls, including video calls. I wouldnt say the high refresh screen is any better than my huawei mate 20pro or note 9.
I wont use mine anymore, it was a waste of money as I didnt buy it for gaming. Because of the software issues i wouldn't even give it to my kids.
