no.
non us models are signed with different keys so they will fail to flash as has always been the case as long as i can remember.
if somehow the bl is unlocked then thats a different story but dont get ur hopes up.

A Little Confused..

Hello..
I'm not sure I understand.. If you want an A50 with an Unlocked Bootloader.. why buy a "U" version? Why not just buy an "F" or "G" version?
They have the bands to work on T-Mobile and AT&T... and can be rooted.
You obviously don't care about having Samsung Pay.. so is it just you want to have Verizon / Sprint / Xfinity as your Carrier?
F and G versions are available for under $300.00 U.S.D. at Amazon and on Ebay.

Sorry My Friend...
"You Can't Have Your Cake And Eat It Too"....
I Sacrificed Customization For The $135.00 Out Of Pocket Cost After The Xfinity $250.00 Rebate.. and Samsung Pay.
You Simply Cannot Get This Model In The U.S. And Have It All.

You seem very knowledgeable on the subject whereas I know nothing... I only want to root my A505U so I can restore apps with Titanium Backup. Since it's not possible to root this phone, is there any other way to get full app data from an app from my rooted phone onto this A505U?

that's pretty vital information, i'm trying to figure out how to turn specific bands on/off and get bands to select over others. like the threshold. example. i'd like band 12 to be targeted before band 4

Like this kinda?

First download this version of ODIN: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4952061&d=1581888388 (I used the newest 3.14.1 patched)
Then download this firmware file: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/SM-A505U1/XAA/download/A505U1UES9BTI4/386407/
Download mode: Turn your A50 off. Hold power and Volume UP until you see second Samsung logo and release. Choose Download Mode (Last entry)
Extract files from firmware ZIP. Open ODIN as Administrator. Plug in your device. Choose BL AP CP CSC from firmware folder (Choose HOME CSC if you want to preserve your settings etc). Click Start. after a few minutes you now have an unlocked SM-A505U to SM-A505U1 device. This will allow it to work on other carriers such as Visible which is what I needed.

SM-G955U to SM-G955U1

I noticed after rooting that I went from firmware U to U1.
I guess my question is can I use normal Odin to flash SM-G955U1 firmware and have my phone unlocked so I can use my goole Fi sim card?

Flashing the firmware alone will not unlock the phone. You must have the carrier it is attached to unlock it first.

You can use ODIN to flash U1 firmware for a bloatfree experience, but that WILL NOT carrier unlock your device. It has to be unlocked by the carrier. Either by calling them direct or paying for an unlock service. But if your phone is paid off, your carrier will unlock it for free.

That's a half truth. You CAN purchase the U1 model at Best Buy, but only if you specifically ask for it. They also sell the carrier versions for ATT, Verizon, and I believe Sprint.
The U1 can also be purchased directly from Samsung, as well as the carrier versions.
Yes the U1 works with ALL major US carriers. I.e. Verizon, Sprint, ATT, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and all their MVNOs.
You can try my post i would like to help you

I have the U1 and flashed U firmware, and was trying to go back to U1 and Odin is being a pita about it.
Any pointers on how to get my U1 phone that thinks it's a U now, to get back to being a U1? Get a binary error when I try. I have both firmware. U oddly says it's an XAS file (phone still shows being XAA, but U1 is an XAA file, both from sammob, and both are latest updates, Dec. 1st.).

If your getting a binary error either you are 1 of 3 things. Using older firmware than on the device. You need to flash the combination file then subsequent firmware. Like u1 combo u. Or u combo u1. Or wrong odin. 3.13b

You can with a unlocked bootloader. But to go back to Sprint you need the official firmeware which they do not provide to the public.... I have a G7 had it unlocked, different firmware installed. Had no service, . Tried to flash another firmware and ended up wiith a hard brick.. Got it back to the first unofficial sprint firmware, then had to have Sprint reflash the official firmware for the phone.. What's nice the bootloader is still unlocked.. Right now I would not even try anything. Best bet is to return if able, and buy a already unlocked version, so long as you can use it with sprint.

Man I just bricked the phone, first I tried flashing G710EM using LGUP and Partition DL (Select All) it failed almost immediately, after rebooting the phone it booted straight to Firmware Upgrade mode. Then, I got G710N20f, also tried to flash it using Partition DL (Select all), this time it failed at more than 70% step BackupGPT, now when I reboot the phone, I get the LG logo but after the screen turns to whitenoise like, it seems like it is still in Firmware Upgrade as I can still connect to it using LGUP.
Any ideas how to unbrick it? :crying:

Are you sure it is firmware (bootloader unlcok)? or sim unlock, there is a difference.. If you did a bootloader unlock you will get a waring saying. "Warning your software can not be check or is corrupt, please relock the bootloader". If you don't have this kind of message of this sort, then you just had it sim unlocked.

im just going by the ebay listing. It states"Your phone will be converted to a unlocked firmware version and that i can no longer receive ota updates".
My software version is G710ULM11e and my build number is OPR1.170623.032 and im on security patch level july 1, 2018 and android 8.0. When i go to the update center to check for a software update it states im using the latest version for my phone.
I did try a prl update and update device config and it states profile cant be updated. SprintDM notification shows that it trying update mobile network. it comes on and off every 3 mins or so.
I hope this is enough information to go off of! If you need me more information , please tell.
Also I did contact sprint via chat and they stated i could get my firmware back to stock but its 2 about 2 hours away from my city . itll be a like a whole day trip for me since i don't drive and would have to take a bus. I would love to avoid that.
Thanks!

that problem with the Sprint DM trying to connect every couple minutes is a huge problem with the bootloaders be unlocked you will have to go to Sprint and have them do it it takes about 30 minutes because right now there is no firmware available for Sprint anywhere on the internet. when I get a break from my new job I am going to try and install TWRP on my device and if I do it successfully I will be able to upload some firmware but that's not guaranteed.

Whether you had insurance on the phone or not should not have mattered. Sprint should have flashed the firmware, cuz that's their damn job. They asked me the same question I told them no and they still flash the firmware.

You have to be assertive or act completely aloof. If you are a paying Sprint customer, they will reset/reflash your phone. If no one in your immediate area can help you out, maybe you can mail the phone to someone who can get it serviced (heh I'd happily do it for free but hopefully there is someone a bit tech savvy in your own social network).

How can I update my unlocked AT&T S9 (SM-G960U)?

Hi. I have an AT&T-branded unlocked S9 (SM-G960U) and I have not been receiving software updates. The date of the installed security patch is Nov. 1, 2018, and I'm still on Android 8.0. When I check for updates, it says that my phone is up-to-date. My current carrier is outside the USA. I have also tried updating via Smart Switch but it also says my phone is up-to-date.
Is there any way I could get the Android Pie update?
Thanks for the help!

in short, the U1 is a debloated version of stock without the carrier junk. The different iterations will have different modem files that are intended to work best with the respective markets they are built for, globally speaking. Samsung stopped making a separate version for the GSM carriers in the USA with the S8 which is why all the stock image files are now cross compatible. They technically always were, its just that theyre far more interchangable now due to this physical difference no longer existing

So do you mean that the different carrier versions of U1 firmware don't have carrier apps, but have files that make the phone more compatible with the carrier's network?
It seems as though AT&T can only send updates over their network, which I don't have access to because I'm outside the US. If I change my firmware to U1, would I then receive updates OTA in the future directly from Samsung?

they have very minimal bloatware, they might include carrier apps, but very few. They usually have carrier specific radio firmware to allow the phone to operate best on that specific network, yes.
i would flash one in the very near future myself, but im about to head to Mexico on vacation, so im a tad paranoid to do so. Ill do it when i get back tho. By the end of this month, ill be running a U1 firmware set

So the question is can I install a global firmware or an unlocked firmware on my s9 (SM-G960U) or how can I unlock the device officially cuz I checked the phone its is not blacklisted and fully paid so what should I do plz help and I'm from Pakistan do I can't go to a Tmobile store coz we don't have there service here . Please read this, there might be some restrictions still applied to your phone.
Unlock app requires a TMobile account at least.

Convert SM-A505W to another model (SM-A505F etc)

I picked up an A50 from Koodo, (Canadian carrier) on a sweet deal, model SM-A505W. I thought since they are all Exynos chipsets (vs Qualcomm) it would be bootloader unlockable. Sadly, in bootloader mode I see no option to unlock the bootloader so I assume that is a no go unless I misunderstand. Yes, I went into developer options and set the OEM Unlock option.
It's been a while since I've had a Samsung (S3 I think was my last one?), is there any way to convert between models using Odin and the firmware for another region? Or is this beast dead and I should send it back or sell it off?
Thanks
You can get to unlock bootload screen after its fully off and use combination "VolumeDown+Power+VolumeUp". To get it in the downloadable mode use VolumeUp+Power. The real issue is that I can't find firmware SM-A505W (Canadian) anywhere. It is not even listed in Samsung's firmware website.
Does anyone know where to get it or any other alternatives?

Try SamFirm, old tool for Samsung firmwares. You can find it here on XDA.

I know I'm late, but would you happen to know where I can find the TWRP file for this model? I am having a very difficult time finding it and would like to root my A50.

Many members have tried this with Canadian A505W variant without success. I can't get it to show unlock bootloader option.
EDIT: after several attempts, I did finally get the bootloader unlock menu.

I know this is an old thread and perhaps you have found firmware files by now but in case you haven't, I found them here for example a Videotron variant.

At&t Firmware Conversion to Unlocked

So roughly following this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20-fe/how-to/t-mobile-firmware-conversion-to-unlocked-t4172347
Thought I'd try it on my At&t branded device, and give a little walkthrough.
1. Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed https://www.samsung.com/us/business/support/owners/product/galaxy-s20-fe-5g-unlocked/
2. I had to use a patched version of Odin 3.14.1 linked here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
3. The firmware I went with https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G781U1/ATT/G781U1UEU1ATIG
4. Unzip all files
5. Boot Samsung phone in Download Mode (hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons / hold Volume Down + Bixby buttons then plug-in cable) or adb reboot download
6. Open Odin (dismiss any warnings at your own risk) add BL,AP,CP, and I used Home CSC (does not wipe user data) in the CSC slot (can use regular CSC if you want a full wipe)
7. Run, should auto reboot, and enjoy less At&t junk
Model number before was SM-G781U
Model number after is SM-G781U1/DS
Build number before was G781USQU1ATI9
Build number now is G781U1UEU1ATIG
Have not tested At&t wifi calling because I don't use it, but I've read that it doesn't work
Also OEM unlock is still not under dev options
Great [emoji106]. FYI, for people that wonder if firmware flashing will unlocked network carriers then no.

I guess the question is, why flash unlocked model if no OEM Unlock is available and you lose features from the carrier?

I always buy Samsung unlocked device, but since T-mobile offered a great discount I go with them. Since I have T-mobile unlocked my phone I go with unlocked firmware.

In just got the T-Mo variant this morning. I went ahead and did a data transfer with Switch to maintain setup, from an A71 5G. Then converted the locked TMo from G781USQU1ATL2 to: G781U1UES1ATL3 (unlocked)
Will this wipe your data?

Not if you use Home CSC. Regular CSC will.
I tried your method it didn't work for me. Also tried to remove the OEM lock without any luck.
Do you have any suggestions? note that i'm living outside USA.
