N975U and N975U1 Firmware Links Here - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

For those who aren't already aware, N975U is the model number of all of the US carrier versions of the Note 10+. The N975U1 is the model number of the same device, but sold by Samsung SIM unlocked and with no carrier bloatware. Firmware is 100% interchangeable among these models: any U or U1 firmware version can be flashed to any U or U1 device at any time, assuming that you're not trying to downgrade the bootloader. A "U to U" or "U1 to U1" flash does not require a factory reset, but changing from one firmware to the other will require one. Also, U firmware is identical for the 4 base files (AP, BL, CP, CSC) for each individual build, no matter which carrier it comes from. So if you download 2 different carrier versions of the exact same build, the 4 base files will be identical. Where the firmware differs is in the USERDATA file - that's where the carrier bloatware and customizations reside.
This is not a "beginner's guide to Odin flashing" type post/thread, so I won't list basic, step-by-step flashing instructions. My threads are geared towards those who already know what they're doing. If you're new to manually flashing Samsung firmware, I recommend you consult one of the "beginner's" posts/threads - there are tons of them here on XDA.
Happy flashing!
U firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=297979
U1 firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=297980
NOTES:
- DON'T QUOTE THE OP WHEN YOU REPLY, kthx
- I have an identical thread for the Note 10 if you're interested
- My zips are compressed extra small for space and bandwidth savings. The default Windows extractor can't handle it, so you'll need a 3rd party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc
- My naming method for folders on AFH is: build - bootloader - Android version
So "SAT - 1 - 9.0" means the full build number ends in SAT, it's bootloader version 1, and it's Android 9.0. When bootloader and Android versions increment, the first build to have those changes will have its folder notated appropriately.
- HOME CSC file keeps data intact; using the other CSC will wipe data. Flashing USERDATA will also wipe data
- I know AFH servers/mirrors can be wonky sometimes, so if you want to download the latest version of whatever firmware you're seeking yourself, you can do so via SamFirm or Frija (plenty of links and threads here on XDA). I pay for a subscription to a site that gets beta builds and also gets the official releases (usually) before they hit SamFirm, so that's where my files come from. However, I don't have unlimited bandwidth on the site, and it's also quite time consuming to download the files, zip them up, and upload them to AFH. And, I do threads like this for every single Sx and Note x model - so I won't be uploading every single update version. The only full builds that I upload are ones where I get access to a new bootloader and/or Android version early, before they hit SamFirm.
- You can get USERDATAs from SamFirm for everything but AT&T and Cricket- those files will never be on SamFirm. So I'll try to always upload at least one USERDATA per bootloader increment for those carriers, and I'll also upload any full builds if AT&T is the only carrier to get that specific build, because you won't be able to find the files anywhere else.
- For USERDATAS (all the others are self explanatory):
AIO = Cricket
CCT = Xfinity Mobile (Comcast)
CHA - Spectrum Mobile (Charter)
TMK = Metro PCS
- the correct procedure for switching from one carrier's firmware to another is:
1. Flash full U1 firmware package including non HOME CSC
2. Upon boot, insert a SIM of the carrier whose firmware you want
3. Watch for the popup that says "reboot to apply new carrier settings" etc, and do it
4. After that restart completes, reboot back to Download mode and flash the full U firmware package, with the USERDATA file of the carrier whose firmware you want

Samsung firmware never hits until the device is actually released. Maybe a day before, if that

Appreciate the files though. Flashed the U1 firmware, works great.

Looks like your bootloader version is 3. New one is 4. But we have you can Odin files with v4 bootloader. So I will say yes you will get ADB or Odin files to go back or update.

best way to upgrade from LMY47X.N920AUCU2APB2 to MMB29K.N920AUCS4CQA1
Hi,
Thanks a ton for the update!! I have a at&t note-5 being used on t-mobile and is currently on build number:LMY47X.N920AUCU2APB2(mar 2016 update) and I was wondering as to how to upgrade to the latest version MMB29K.N920AUCS4CQA1. Since I can't get my hands on a at&t sim I will need to update it manually. Could anybody please guide me as to what is the best way to get to the latest version. I did search the forum but there seem to multiple and sometimes confusing ways so wanted a little clarity on that. Thanks in advance!!
You can ODIN from your desktop PC directly to *****PK1
After that, you would then use ADB from your desktop PC (USB debugging enabled) to sideload the subsequent updates to your device as Nobarb suggested. However that last step would wipe your device (so a backup will be necessary).
I'm in the same boat as you are, so I'm just waiting for the next official update (or something flashable in ODIN to get me back up to date)

Here's how to install Dev Patched LGUP:
1) Download and install REGULAR LGUP and then go the LGUP folder on C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP and replace the "normal" files with the Dev Patched files (attached to this post).
Install LG Drivers.
REBOOT THE COMPUTER.
2) Alternatively, you can create the folder yourself and just place the Dev Patched LGUP files there.

You should create LGUP folder at "C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics"

I was going to ask the following:
As we await bootloader unlock from LG, will this version of Oreo for the v30/+ be rootable like the Google Pixel 2 XL version or in your opinion, should we wait?
Then, I realized this is the 1 December 2017 update which just proves you should not read after deplaning until you have had coffee lol.
Thanks for the share, ChazzMatt as it nice to have the full of file (I did the OTA from 10b to 10c already).
Do you (or anyone else notice any difference)?
Thanks chazz! Is the main reason for this file just in case you somehow brick your phone?
I just did the ota update and wonder if there is a change log anywhere?

The T-Mobile guys wanted a verified full copy of US998 for their H932 experiments with patched LGUP file.
It's always good to have full version of the firmware you are on, in case you ever need to re-flash. An OTA update is just a partial version of firmware.
I used LG Bridge to update my spare V30 from "b" to "c" -- snagged that download link from the log and downloaded the full KDZ separately, which I then uploaded to mirror.
That's the only change log I saw. Maybe there's a more detailed one somewhere on LG website.

im still too scared update it. what if it ends up like the h930 where they have to fall back to root properly. anyone with the update notice any of the changes? any change in battery life?
I don't notice anything...
As far as changes, they seem to be similar to what was posted here:

Thanks for the post Chazz!
Thank you ChazzMatt.
I donno you remember, but I am stuck with "your phone is not registered yet" on OTA.
I will update with this file.
edit:
This works on my US Cellular US998!
I used uppercut 1.0 with LGUP 1.14, upgrade selection.
Now I am on 10c now.
I updated the op to reflect that we know this firmware also works on U.S. Cellular US998, besides "open market" official carrier unlocked US998.
@rhplusa10 below was one of the people to buy an LG "contest prize" U.S. Cellular US998, many of which were re-sold online by the winners. Because these U.S. Cellular US998 phones were never actually "registered" in the U.S. Cellular inventory system somehow they cannot receive updates. They fall into some kind of gray area. (Read that thread if you want to know more, that's not what's really being discussed here.)
The point is, he and others with those wonky US998 phones (or even regular US. Cellular US998 phones) can use this "open market" US998 firmware and future firmware posts to keep their phones updated.

Somethings to note;
This zip is a monster 7.7gb.
I could not dirty flash and had to do a full wipe.
I could not update Galaxy apps over WiFi, only on LTE. (it may be a network issue unique to me, ymmv.)
Initial boot took FOREVER. It felt like 10 minutes. Loaded on your device its close to 35gb once booted. So what I' saying is be patient on first boot, because activation took another 10.

@6h0st this is untouched (not rooted), from Samsung, so theoretically there wont be any knox problems. @speedyjay I'm not sure if there are any flash restrictions between devices (other than Snapdragon vs Exynos). I haven't had any issues as of yet, but I could be both very wrong and extremely lucky. I can say with 100% confidence it works great on N975U & U1 as this is a U1 firmware on my U device.

Hey guys, I've moved this to the general section for now given it's not exactly a rom and more of a stock firmware. Also any update on a download link? I realize you may have gotten excited and decided to draw up an op which I totally get. It does take quite a bit of time and effort to make one. My guess is that you had hoped it would be uploaded by the time you made it and it either failed to upload or took too long. As I'm sure you know XDA doesn't really like the whole place holder thing so let's try to get the link set for people. Please ping me here when you get it all set. If we can't get the links resolved soon the thread will be of no use and have to be closed. So fingers crossed you can get this sorted out shortly
Almost 8GB???! Great Scott! Does it turn our phones into a cybertruck?
Morning, @Negan. Thanks for the move. AFH failed, I was up until 0200 trying to up the zip, but AFH misfired. I'm uploading to Mega now and should have a proper working link in about an hour or so. Thanks for your patience!
Edit:
Upload complete and hash verified. Enjoy folks!

See this is where it all began... *#1234#* had me on 3 different versions & when I would try to update it would say "unsupported version goto service center blah". So I fired up Odins other half (Frija) and pulled the latest version for the N975U1 with XAA region to minimize bloat. What I downloaded was this 7+gb firmware (that rocks btw), and now it says I'm upto date. Ill know in January when the new patch drops!
Thanks for sharing this with the comunity. A few questions and concerns, first (question), can we revert back to stock non-dark side rom from this?
Second (concern)-you uploaded to mega, not everyone has a mega accnt, an accnt is requiered after certain file size so getting it from there in a no go?.
Third (question), I checked using frija and samfirm, both showed the same firmware with same file size (7+Gb) using diferent CSC's, TMB, USC and XAA, Are they the same?, meaning they ALL are Dark Side edition.
Sorry to bother you with all this, but my note 10+ is on at&t and we all know how difficult the process is for this specific carrier because of the online firmware availabilty and teh specifics on how and what to flash we we switch firmwares.

Not a bother at all! Ill try and answer in their order:
1. Being an ATT device, I think the only challenge is finding the proper stock firmware for going back. I would suggest that you have a copy of the ATT firmware on hand before flashing, in case things go sideways. That being said however, reverting back to any other firmware or rom should be like replacing any other rom/firmware. Because this is stock that has been heavily themed by the OEM in preparation for joint release of the final Star Wars movie, 'Rise of Skywalker'. I think worst case scenario would be you spend all day downloading and flashing different roms until it works.
2. Easiest solution: Open a free Mega account if you want to download it. Or dont make one and don't download. All the choices belongs to you. Finding a (reliable) file host for a file that is sooo big is incredibly difficult. AnonFiles, HugeFIles and a couple more still require the uploader to make an account. I already had a Mega account so I used it.
3. I don't know, I would bet yes if its 7+gb. Happy flashing!
I started with an Unlocked note 10 plus SM-N975U1 downloaded the zip from Frija used odin it booted with the dark side theme applied and December patch.
Also you can use the default theme which is what i was use to. Thanks

Probably not, it's merely 5Gb.
Downloaded and installed. As expected, a wipe ( or using CSC, not Home CSC) is required. Since I got the 10+ I haven't done a clean install , so besides the visual dark theme, it feels like the phone is responding quicker. Pretty sure it isn't placebo, but a result of starting all from scratch. Thanks for the link to Mega to download. Feels a bit like the good old flash OCD days ..

Question Convert to Global ROM

Hey,
It's been quite quiet in here so I am guessing not many people purchased one an X30.
Do we think like most of the previous Moto and Lenovo chinese phones we will be able to flash the global rom once available?
I managed to do it on my Lenovo Legion phones before and most chinese sellers do this too.
What do you think?
hi,
edge x30 will be available in europe 24th february
it wll be rebranded edge 30 pro
apparently maybe it will have onscreen fingerprint (instead of on side)
hope we can flash this rom even if it's not the same name, but it's the same phone
Yeah I am aware that it's out on the 24th which is why I posted above. I am hoping it's the exact same hardware!
I was try to use this global rom from Brazil, but it doesnt work out, reboot looping, I believe Indian ROM more compatible to Chinese version, waiting for someone share the stock rom.
Pls try on this link brazil version, got any fix let me know.

i tried to flash the retail global rom while keeping the original radio of the China version rom. it booted successfully. but i can't get NFC to work. Also noted that the global rom has wireless charging, which the x30 doesn't have. it appears that the hardware is not exacly the same.

doesnt work for me
I already placed the firmware on data folder of the app
the ROM works, but the bootloader and radio have to be Chinese version, it is using a lot of battery and it heats up more than the Chinese one

Yes flashed with complete wipe of the device, still heating issue NFC not working, battery drain so fast, @gersonrsj is correct.
I've tried RETAPAC and RETAIL firmware, both NFC broken.
on progress with RETBR
RETAPAC, RETAIL, RETEU. RETBR all broken NFC
the global ROM is not fully compatible with the X30, the Edge 30 pro has induction charging and other networks so I think the bootloader and radio doesn't work
So the edge 30 pro not similar hardware spec of edge x30 isn't?
We have to wait for some team to work on the updates I guess.

General New A13 update for T-Mobile OP9Pro

T-Mobile has finally released the long overdue Android 13 update for the LE2127 which is called LE2127_11_F.27 and apparently the rollout has begun. I never got a push notification but I've been checking for updates for the last few days and it just finally became available this morning.

It doesn't seem any different from the global or eu firmware. Just hopefully it doesn't come with the network issues that I had while on the global/eu firmwares, because on the F17 and F72 I had an issue where the person I was talking to couldn't hear me. Sometimes everything was crystal clear and sometimes the person on the end of the line just heard total silence.

I use to run custom roms years ago. But these days, from what I have been seeing, the phones work best with the firmware that matches the phone model for best operation and hassle free.
can you upload the update somewhere?
You don't download TMOA UPDATES, and trying to catch the update before rebooting is difficult.

That's not something I know how to do, but if you msm back to stock then go through all the updates it should be available.

Well the consensus seemed to be that the full ota to A13 on the global and EU firmwares fixed the network issues as long as you didn't take any initial OTAs after the initial update to A13. That wasn't the case for me though.
I used to use custom roms a lot too back 5-10 years ago but now it seems everything I used to know is obsolete.
I MSM'd back to 11 and took the OTA to get to A13. It's working nicely. No more battery drain or 5G issues (losing connection, slow to connect after reboot).
Now just waiting patiently for someone to post the LE2127_11_F.27 boot.img file so that I can install MAGISK.
Nevermind, I was able to extract it via the MSM Readback method mentioned in the following post
[GUIDE] Root and keeping root options

I don't know anything about using the msm tool to pull partition images from the phone, but here's the way I do know.
1. Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked
2. "fastboot getvar all" or "fastboot getvar current-slot" to see which slot is active
3. "fastboot boot name_of_twrp_recovery.img" to boot twrp recovery
3. run the "adb shell" command or launch the terminal emulator in the advanced section of twrp recovery
4. Once you've launched adb shell or the terminal run the "su" command to get root permissions
5. Use the command "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot_a.img of=/SD card/boot_a.img" if slot a is active, or "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot_b.img of=/SD card/boot_b.img" if slot b is the active slot
After a few seconds you'll have a copy of the boot image in the root of your internal storage.
Alternatively, you could just flash the latest magisk apk through twrp, but as I understand it this method is not recommended anymore, and I don't think you'd have an unaltered copy of the boot image this way.
Has T-Mobile rolled this update out in the states? It's quite the lengthy process for me to upgrade, with about 9000 apps to restore lol.

I just took the ota and haven't done a factory reset. I have noticed that the voice/data signal icon doesn't match the wifi icon. I haven't noticed any other issues yet.
I didn't think they were suppose to match since two different types of network.... Per your image
