I just backed to OOS using msm tool. Didn't show any error while flashing, rebbot recovery, it turn to first page and still there.
I have faced the same thing as well. Flashed in recovery and then reboot to recovery and got stuck. It doesn't reboot to recovery.
Kind of interesting that a handful of people are experiencing this issue and a handful of other people aren't.
I'll have to take a look here soon. Will keep all of you posted
maybe the previous recovery's version cause the difference?

Don't flash it from any other Recovery based on TWRP 3.4.0.
Either stay on TWRP 3.3.1-18 or flash this Recovery from TWRP 3.3.1-18. Doesn't matter if TWRP is official/unofficial build...

Yes but this one is said dealing with dynamic partition. A must have.
Is it planned to have a release devoted to Curtana.
Thanks
EDIT:
I've just tested it on Curtana in order to test file copy/modify in system via file explorer.
Unsuccessful trial. System is still kept at read only state.
Anyway a real nice interface design. Thanks to devs.

It is working from what I can do on a Curtana. It cann't install because digest is not in accordance but should be working well on Joyeuse and at any point better than LR modded fix release available at T.me.
Just boot it on your phone and try it like that.
Recoveries struggle to get stable on this device/system it seems (what is the status of PBRP: alpha, beta, stable?). I saw something about a Android 10 Boot Partition causing the problems but would like to understand better if and how Recovery will work nicely with this device and Custom ROMs. Can someone point me to a explanation/thread why on RN9P, Android 10 it is so difficult to get a working Recovery for Custom ROM Install/Updates?
hello,
bravo for this excellent work, since the time we hoped functional custom recovery. Are all backup and restore functions functional, micro sd recognition, etc? ... Thank you
the right commend for Flash the recovery.img is "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
second, i get decrypt data after i reboot to recovery.
I have curtana twrp on joyeuse phone. Can ı flash via curtana twrp?
Edit 1: I tried install via curtana twrp. Error 1 fail...

Are you referring to the xiaomi.eu rom v11.0.5? If so, there's alot of people reporting problems booting after flashing that version. You're probably not referring to the stock rom, as I don't think there are any recovery flashable zips for that available.
In regard to fixing your wifi problem, in reading through the GSI rom thread, there are many reports of wifi being lost after flashing the boot.img from a different version of the stock rom than that which users were originally on without updating the other partitions. If the v11.0.5 boot.img was flashed to your phone, but some other partitions failed to flash, that may explain things. You could try downloading/extracting the v11.0.4 boot.img, either from the stock or xiaomi.eu rom package depending on which you are using, and flashing that again from fastboot using "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
Otherwise if that fails, reflashing v11.0.4 in its entirety should hopefully get your wifi working again.

TWRP might never be as before and thats something we all have to accept. Google did some major changes and it will take some time to fix that.
I'm using my 7T now for more than a half year without fully working and stable TWRP. I still don't miss it. For root there are a few instructions and custom ROMs can be flashed with fastboot. Kernel can be flashed easily with Kernel manager. Let's wait and see...
For kernel flashing you need root.

Sure you will need to have root. but that's common and possible without TWRP.
Thanks so much to mauronofrio for that TWRP port!

Official TWRP 3.5.0_9 works fine with official LOS.
I didn't get the point on this release yet, TWRP says their _10 versions are for devices released with Android 10, so _9 is correct for the good old Mi 8...

Spot the difference. I'm on Android 10 as well of course, soon on Android 11 and the official TWRP _09 branch supports this. Could you please explain the benefits of your unofficial version? I'd like to understand the facts before considering a test.
Tried to compile it on my own with your device Tree.
Got Error
FAILED: ninja: '/[...]/out/target/product/dipper/obj/SHARED_LIBRARIES/libcryptfs_hw_intermediates/export_includes', needed by '/[...]/out/target/product/dipper/obj/SHARED_LIBRARIES/libcryptfsfde_intermediates/import_includes', missing and no known rule to make it

Did something change on TWRP?
Greets and thanks

Did you ever figure this out? I'm getting the same error trying to build official TWRP for the mi 8 Pro.
EDIT: Turns out you can get around the error by removing the line: "TARGET_HW_DISK_ENCRYPTION := true" from your BoardConfig.mk but I'm not sure if it will be able to decrypt.
Hi, all day trying to flash TRWP. I want to switch from miui.eu to lineageos, so I wipe data and then try to flash LOS. Nothing work and I decided to upgrade TWRP from FASTBOOT. Nothing work, the phone got stuck on fastboot. Then with MIflash I was able to install miui global, but now I simple cant install TWRP over the MI-Recovery 3.0
I'm using diferent TWRP versions and the following commands
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot boot recovery.img
After that black screen for a few seconds and the it boot normally to MIUI and MI Recovery 3.0 still there. Dont know what to do or combination to use
Please help!!

I installed this recovery and it works very well. Date and time are correct, and backup and file manager work as expected. Thanks for this up-to-date recovery!!
No problem
I don't know if you remember LgPwN'd and the Pizza guy, Electimon, but does this Orangefox recovery need that AIO Toolkit that he had or can you install this OrangeFox recovery using the stock OS.

This is completely separate, you can just flash this how you would normally
How do you “flash to recovery partition”
Try,
fastboot flash recovery OrangeFox-Unofficial-surfna-1.img
in bootloader using adb terminal
MTP does not work on this OrangeFox
Still working good?

It works great for me. I use it exclusively. By the way, MTP works for me.

6-9-21 TMO Stock Rom XT2005-3
Whenever I try to use the wipe function, my device won't boot.
I was able to replicate this by:
- Using the rescue and smart assistant to recover it
- After it boots, get into bootloader from power off and flash this recovery
- Boot into recovery from fastboot menu
- Wipe data option
- Reboot
- It boots to the motorola logo, but never into the "hello moto" part of the boot animation
Xfinity variant device
The recovery from @scottyrick2 works fine, wondering what's going on?

Read the title of this post, notice it says F2FS, stock does not support F2FS by default. It is meant for my custom ROMs. Thank you.

So this was designed for your Lineage rom (not mentioned in the post) or others that use that file system. I was not aware of that, thank you for the clarification.
Perhaps append the original post so people don't make the same mistake as me?
I can fastboot flash it on moto e6 and go into OrangFox's recovery menu. I tried the menu selection for built-in Magisk install, it said it can not find Magisk file. What's the correct way to use it to install Magisk on moto e6 ? Thanks!
