Drained a lot during setting up, but it's been fine since. If you keep having this problem, factory reset, and see if it still happens.

Thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home

Just to verify... you did a full reset, then tested without restoring any data or apps. In this case, I think you got a bad unit.

I guess I don't really sit for two hours on the home screen. In fact, in running Nova Launcher, so I never see the Samsung home screen. I'll load it up and see if I notice any problem.

I just did a quick test. Fully set up phone with my podcast player playing over Bluetooth, sitting on the Samsung home screen, I'm discharging roughly at 12% per hour.

Still, yours seems to be draining at twice the rate mine is, and I assume you aren't streaming over Bluetooth.

bluetooth is off and just sitting there on the home screen. ive also noticed that in games/other apps itll show i only have about 2hrs of gaming(from the game booster) despite being low performance intensive games and i understand partially as to why it would say that but seeing as how others can use their phone for a lot longer, sometimes up to a day but this does not seem good

I've been using this phone off and on for 14 hours today, with just a few minutes of charging here and there, and I'm at 33%. Excellent battery life. I don't game though, unless you count Words With Friends. [emoji1]

I've been about the same but it just feels like the phone isn't lasting as long as it should. I should still definitely go and see my local Samsung just in case. there's a likely chance they'll do what they did with my s8 and say there's nothing wrong with despite clear signs of needing a new battery.

not bad. wish i had the 5g model, wanted to get it but carrier didnt do it and i wasnt going to fork out 2k.

Battery life seems on par with my note 8. I don't have the 5g(no point as by time VZW gets to my area the note 12 will be out), I do have it set relatively bright, and at full Rez.. My Screen off time is extremely good compared to my note 8 went to bed with 95% and got up at 90%. My note 8 would often drop 30%

I received my note 10+ on 22nd August 2019 and i initially charged it full til 100% and started using it. However i noticed that the battery Is draining too fast. So far i have been using it for 4 days and i have the same issue. Even i did factory reset but still same issue.
So far I have recharged it for 4 to 5 cycles of full charge till 100%, and even my device is up to date with the latest software updates.
Kindly suggest and share your thoughts / comments.

Yup, I'm having quick battery drain myself as well. I hoping when getting this phone that battery life would not be a concern. Maybe Samsung can update it to help with the drain? Anyway.... it's a bit disappointing.

From what I've heard which may be wrong, I think upon opening you need to use it till death and then give a full charge. Positive it might be an actual problem now if more people are getting it.

Battery life?

What sort of battery life are you all seeing with this years note? come from the ipad 3 where i usually saw 10-11 hours screen time and 2-3d standby, today is the first time ive had it from 100% and i only lasted 6 hours screentime with 7 hours overall on time, i still havent run it down completely yet but surely i should be getting more than this?
Its such a shame because i love it so much, but i cant deal with this short battery life
It's much better than that. I found it better after a couple of charges. I rooted mine and deleted or froze b.oatware and I get 13 hours heavy use

I came from an ipad 3 as well and had the same problem until I disabled several apps, turned off GPS, etc and over the long weekend I was getting ~12 hours of web surfing.
I haven't rooted yet so that should be a number that can improve. I'm sorta trying to wait for a root that doesn't trip knox. I don't want a custom rom so no reason to install a bootloader and lose my warranty if I can be patient. Tried Cydia Impactor but I had already upgraded to MK1. I'm wondering if the shipping rom (P600XXUAMIE) might have the 4.3 vulnerabilities unpatched.

I thought it was more, but looking at the list.. go to settings, General, Application Manager, select the prinstalled apps you don't want running all the time and click Turn Off. I've turned off BlurbCheckout, Businessweek+, NYTimes, Polaris Office, Screen Saver and Twitter. I think more important was turning off GPS, Screen Rotation, Bluetooth, Reading Mode, Smart Stay, Smart Pause, Smart Scroll, Auto Brightness then adjusting the screen brightness to something a bit less retina searing than the default.

I've had mine since Saturday soooo, 5 days now. I get easily 10-11 hours of screen time. I loose about 1% per 8-9 hours in stand by and i loose about 9% per hour of video streaming from either my Netflix, HBO GO, or Slingbox account and that's with brightness about or just above 50%. I'm also NOT rooted yet. Totally stock with just certain apps turned off and i restrict a lot of the background data on individual apps that i don't need running background data
Have you guys try using this damn thing at 100% while indoors? It hurts the eyes with a white screen.

Hmm, I think I misspoke about the background data on this tablet. I do that religious with my phones (Bionic, GS4) but I went to look at what i did and there is no option to turn off background data. I would normally go to settings>data usage and tap whatever app and the check "restrict background data". I must have thought I did that on this tablet but obviously not.
i think the battery life is great on my tablet - i dont game with it - today it has been running for 13 hours 48 minutes with 5 hours and 48 minutes of screen on time and battery is at 52% - not rooted yet - i have everything i dont use turned off ( ie. smart stay/scroll, air view ) and running nova laucher prime and dont use power savings mode
Face it - it's nowhere near ipads. That's my biggest concern.
It lasts the day, charge it at night, what's the problem, as long as it lasts all day there's nothing to worry about

I dunno, doing pretty good over here. Rooted, but have no froze anything. Only rooted to get gameCIH installed screen is between 25% and 50% brightness depending on what im doing or where i am. I mostly just use it for playing a few games here and there, taking notes during lectures.. etc. This is about typical, sometimes I get a little less, screen brightness seems to play a huge role in battery drain (obviously) but ive never run it dead during the day.. ever. I start every day with 100% charge and dont usually plug it in till I go to bed. If I have a charger around and im not doing anything ill plug it in (I mean.. why not) but I don't ever have to "worry" about it going dead on me.
I'm currently on 9 hours of battery time, probably at least 4-5 hours of that is screen on time reading comics or doing sketchbook pro pictures.
Battery is on 46%.
So yeh, battery is fine. Brightness is about 30%.

Right... It's better then an IPad. I doubt the IPads beat 11-12 hours of screen time at roughly 50% brightness and an IPad has a smaller screen and less pixels to power.

Hi all, I just bought this tablet, I have not turn it on yet...
Do I have to charge the device fully before turning on like some cell phones are?! or I can just start using it right away?!
and what kind of battery it does?! how's the charging process?! should I wait for it to be fully discharged, and then charge it to 100 percent?! or should I keep it between 40 to 80 percent to save the battery life...
in a nut shell, if you have any forum or link or information that could help, please share

Dude, just turn it on and use it. The days of cycling a batter (let it drain and then charge to full) were over in the 90's with Ni-Cad batteries.. these do not develop a memory. From dead, the tab will take 5-6 hours to charge with supplied charger and in the wall. Using it while charging will still cause it to lose battery but a a much slower rate.

Battery drain, of the crazy variety

So it has happened a couple times where the tablet says it has 28% or so and then my daughter uses it and in about 5 min the battery is dead. Has this ever happened to anyone, is it from being uncharged for a while and by that I mean I haven't charged it for about 3 days? Its not to big of a deal just weird.

Probably just a calibration issue. Charge it back to 100% and keep and eye on it to see if something similar happens again.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I've had that problem, particularly when using what I assume are labor-intensive apps (Skype, Candy Crush, The Room). It really bugs me, since the tablet ought to be able to handle these without significant drain. But I'll see my battery go from 40% to 5% in a matter of minutes.

I made this account just for this EXACT issue..... same thing has been happening to me, battery loses CHUNKS in the matter of seconds, its not a calibration issue, i have fully charged it many times.
i just got not even 5 hours of screen on time with my note.... freekin pathetic. its a fresh flash of clean rom too. battery drain like crazy... i think im gonna try to odin to stock and send it to samsung... i think this tab has a battery defect.
Ya it only happens for me when the battery is getting lower at around 40-35% then sometimes it just drops stupid fast. Also I'm not rooted it's a stock tab
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I have the exact same thing. From about 30 - 35% it drops in a matter of minutes until empty.
Did anyone figure out yet what causes this? And is there a solution to it? I also sometimes have issues to power on the device. When pressing the power button it doesn't respond. I had this a few times now, after pressing the button for about 10-15 seconds it finally switches on... Anyone else had this issue too?
Yes im having the same problem. As im viewing this post, ive lost about 3% battery. Last time i buy a samsung tablet. They dont optimize or update to patch their mistakes. Horrible.
Sent from my SM-P600 using xda app-developers app
I had the exact same problem......
And the solution is.....
FORGET ABOUT IT... I know that it turns u crazy and makes u just watching the battery percentage waiting for it to drop....so annoying
But what I decided to do is just forgetting about it and use it normally and dont let the battery percentage go too low and by time and charging and draining the battery over a month or so it became perfect!! It even gets charged in less time (about 4 hrs)
agree
This has now happened to me twice. Id be hovering at 35% ish, and in 20 mins of video watching im down to 16%. Something is amiss
I never had this problem until i recently Rooted the device and installed Clean ROM. Im thinking i should go back to stock firmware with Root and see if this still occurs. Worrying
If people let the battrey drop to 5% then switch off the device. Then put it back on and then connect charger and charge to 100% in one go without using until it tells you to unplug....see if that works.
Obvs dont always do this....this is just to try to calibrate battery. Under normal conditions you shouldnt let the battery drop below 30% before charging anyway to protect the battery from severe degredation.

Had the same issue with mine, sent it to Samsung for what I thought was going to be a battery replacement. They just flashed a new firmware on it and that fixed it. They also put 2-3 scratches on my flawless screen. Idiots.
However, overall, battery life SUCKS on this tablet. It's way worse than the older 10.1 which I am using now because I can't get rid of Samsung's API locked sPen gestures on the 2014.

The problem might lie in the usage of a certain app... dolphin browser for example... enable flash on it and your tablet drops 10 percent a minute or more ... you should look if the tablet is draining also by doing nothing by just having the screen on.... there is also the possability of having a bad external sd card that causes android to loop media scanning nonstop....
Im rocking android for some time now on multiple devices... and it was always some rouge app which caused this ... causing wakelocks and stuff... you can look for whats draining battery with wakelock battery monitor... or better battery stats... try to keep android as clean as possible ... some apps just drain like hell.... even facebook ... because of background services

Battery life not very impressive

How is the batter life for you guys? . I seem to be losing 60% in 6 hours with 30 mins Google navigation and some texting and browsing.

This is what I've been getting for battery life on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 7. I've cut the bloat apps I don't want, almost all of my data connection was on wifi, web browsing, sending and checking emails, no gaming, had to turn it off twice (applying and reapplying a screen protector), used Bluetooth once for about an hour listening to music in the car, made a few calls and received a few calls. I turned battery saver on right around 85% battery life from 100%. The battery saver was custom and I left the screen resolution at 2k just only enabled limit performance and max brightness to 90%. Just over 9 hrs screen on time works for me.
Yeah mine hasn't been great. Think I'm gonna run it until Wednesday and if it's still not good I'm returning it and going back to my s7e in the meantime.
Mine has been doing very well, better than my note 4 did by a good percentage. The other day I tried to use Google maps for navigation but I was apparently in a dead area. Later that night I was checking battery stats and I saw that maps used 11% for a matter of minutes while the next non-system app was like 3%. There might be something wrong with the app on note 7 then maybe.
Mine has been really good. Usually when I leave work I'm at around 40% (on my S6 edge). Today I'm at 79% (on the Note 7).
So far, my best has been down to 14% in almost 16 hours, with about 5 hours of SoT.

Seriously, if you are getting 9 hours of screen on time, you have to have disabled so much of the functionality of the phone that I don't know why you would buy a Note. With every reviewer and average person getting 4.5-5.5 hours SOT, it just seems ridiculous..
I think it's satisfactory.
I find myself actually using it a lot more than the S7E AND the battery is better to boot.
Personally, if I couldn't use the Note 7 any more, I'd go back to using my iphone 6S+ before I'd use the S7E...
Or the Note 5 / 6S+.
From ergonomics, the S7E is just awful. It reminds me of using a Windows 8 PC for the first time! Mainly because of the horrible, horrible touch sensitivity of the screen and edge.
Perhaps the battery life is better because I've never charged wirelessly? I've heard that if you charge with the cord your battery life, particularly idle, is far better. I don't mind plugging in. USB-C connector is long overdue. No more fumbling in the dark trying to plug it in, scratching the bottom around the connector in the process!
The built in battery monitor is bad. I ran antutu benchmark once and it tonight it took up the equivalent of my whole battery. 5 minutes of app time and only 3% in real life. I have done a couple of full battery cycles to just make sure the software learns the top and bottom ends of my battery. Slowly figuring out what is killing battery and what not. If I have extra drain it's because something is glitching. I have been unplugged since 1 am last night. Still at 10% with almost 5 hours of screen on time.

I don't feel I disabled much of the phone, all I did was disable approximately 12 apps that I don't and or won't use, and at around 85% battery left, I turned on a custom mid power saving feature and used the phone a good amount over a 34+ hour span. This whole setup took me less than 15 minutes, so I'm not sure why you seem to have an issue with my choice in phone. It's not like I went in, rooted the thing and froze an incredible amount of apps, slapped in a custom kernel and messed with voltage and loaded some slim lightweight custom ROM. I simply used power saver and disabled some apps. This took no effort at all, simply sharing what I'd been getting, as others didn't seem to get as much out of their battery.
I got a note because I can pull serious hours SOT, multi task like a boss and enjoy multimedia on this gorgeous screen. I've had Notes since the Note 2.

I agree with the disappointing battery life. I had a galaxy 7 active and after a full day of work doing the same thing I had about 75% after my day ended ,with my note 7 I had about mid 60%. Keep in mind I dont use my phone except a little before work and on my breaks.i also turn my Data off when I'm not using my phone and yes all my bloatware is shut off. If we had root I'm sure I would be happy since I get a lot more out of my battery because of my root setup .

Thanks. These white settings pages are blinding me.
Could you please share what apps you disabled and what power settings you are using so I can give it a try? Thank you.

I use Nova Launcher Pro for my icons (out of the playstore) mixed with the themes from the theme store, I'm enjoying it!

Yeah, sure. I've got a couple things to do first but I'll list the apps I disabled and show you the power saving setup I am using in just a bit.

My Note 7 Updated today!!! sh1t!

Anyone else had the same thing?
Just woke up. Noticed my N7 updated itself somehow. I had everything OFF, least i thought i was. May be i have missed something. Still wondering how it updated in the first place. It has not done so in months.
Now the phone will not go higher then 60%. Dammit. Wireless charge time seems to be slower. 50%-60% in 22min
For now, im still keeping n7.
UPDATE: Yesterday was able to fix all. Installed the old firmware using Odin and everything works flawlessly. No more popups, no more 60% cap.
Step by step guide is HERE

This is weird. I bought my note 7 directly from Samsung and it's for T-mobile's network. I had an firmware update alone with 60% battery. Mine still charges at 100% though. Am I missing something? The only thing bugs me is the popup screen(battery recall info) when charging.
Mind taking a screen shot of the 60% battery?

Mine was for Rogers replacement version but I never even been on Rogers. Im on FIDO. When phone came out I've requested through roger because i knew it would work on fido as well.
I will take a picture once im below 60. Right now it just doesn't charge. Stays at 67% and the pop ups are old Dark gray color style popups that come on now everytime i put it into charge.

I had an update awhile back which stating charging ONLY to 60% but mine charges fine to 100%.
Check the screen shot.
Maybe that is 100% of a 60% charge? It just discharges faster due to less capacity?

Mine is actually saying 60%. In addition the battery icon is no longer green

Not that I've noticed any battery quick drainage. It seemed to be fine to me.

Ohh, that sucks dude.
Go grab yourself a quick charge battery pack for standby. In 30 minutes you'll be back and running from 0 to 50%

Yeap same here. I was awake saw the phone go into recovery install **** and i was oh f i know wat it is doing.
def sucks, lets see what else pops up.
Were you guys using package disabler pro and still had the update forced to you?
Nothing yet from Verizon in Ohio. I would be perfectly OK if that's all they did and let us keep it.
Something is a bit odd though. The way I read it, the 1rst recall was for over charging after fully charged (charging circuit in the battery never shut off). The second batch has batteries with the layers so close together they could short out and this is what is causing the new round of recalls. I don't see how limiting the charge to 60% would do anything, other than maybe limit the explosion by 40%..
I don't think there's any technical reasoning here. I believe they're just trying to make it annoying for those of us that still have the phone to encourage us to just turn it back in

Het mate, confiming we've got the same OTA update here in Australia. Charging is now capped at 60%. Anyone found a workaround so far?
Cheers!
Maybe this might help?

Bro even though your phone shows charge for 100 % the maximum capacity is limited to 60% meaning it will show 100 but it will only charge 60 % you will feel how fast your battery drains after that

Correct, but mine drains and feels as if was @ 100% capacity not 60%.

Decreased Battery Life

Has anyone else seen a noticable battery life drop recently? Standby time as decreased noticably dropping from 100% to 96% instead of the original 98% after 8 hours. Screen on time has noticably dropped as well. For the first 2-2.5 months I was seeing a 10-12%/hr drain while doing light tasks like browsing and using the Facebook app. Similar usage now is resulting in a drain of about 18%/hr. Previously it was normal for me to get 8 hours screen on time over like 32 hours off the charger. Now in the last few weeks, with similar usage, I'm getting like 5 hours SOT over like 18 hours off the charger.
I've looked at the battery stats and nothing seems unusual.
Mine has dramatically improved. I get 8 hours + since Feb update. It dips a little if I bring the brightness up over 75% though.
Standby is excellent also. Last night I lost 0 battery over 7 hours. Data was off granted. Still good.
You might need to reset phone.
If not a rogue app may cuaee this. Have you installed any new apps recently

For me it has been bad for weeks but got worse after the February update which is strange since one of the things mentioned in the February update was a battery improvement for the Pixel 2 XL. Almost 2 hours ago I unplugged my phone from fully charged and it's already dropped to 98% in less than 2 hours. The battery stats show phone idle using 1% of the battery with nothing else showing at all.

I really don't want to have to do a reset. It's such a hassle. Backing up, resetting, restoring, putting all my music back on, reinstalling all the apps. Probably 4-6 hour job. No new apps in the past several weeks. Also, nothing in battery info that would indicate any specific app going rogue and sucking up battery.

I second that. My battery life has got worse too, and it's mainly the standby which is getting worse, and phone idle is the main culprit I can see in the stats.

Same. My battery life has been way worse since the February update. I might try to factory reset when I get home from work later.

4 to 6 hours??? Wtf do you have that takes 4-6 hours to do lol. I notice i drop down to 98% really quick after I pull from the charger on this update but i'm still getting more SOT then I did in any of the other phones/patches i've had on the 2xl. anywhere between 5-7 hours of SOT
Massive decrease of idle battery life in this February update

Not necessarily all of that time is spent hands on but to be back to normal usage yes.
Take screenshots of home screen layouts.
Backup a little data. Mainly texts and my Mileage app data and a few pictures that I don't have on Google photos.
Do the reset and go through setup again.
Reload all my music. When I first did that there were some ID3 tag issues that didn't some up on my computer that I fixed manually on the phone plus some album art that didn't show up and had to be relocated.
Reinstall all (or most) the apps several of which need set up that's tricky (like resetting 2 factor authentication apps I use for work).
Restore backups like texts and Mileage data.
Setup home screens.
Again, some of that I can just let go on its own like transferring music and reinstalling apps but the overall process takes a long time to be totally finished.
I'm probably getting about 5-6 hour SOT now too over about 18 hours but like I said. I was getting much better than that before.
The attached screenshot was taken on November 9th. That was with battery saver off and I haven't been able to get even close to that in the last few weeks even with battery saver mode turning on at the normal 15%.
My battery life sucked and for me it turned out to be Facebook I uninstalled and reinstalled fine since, try your phone in safe mode will tell you if it's an app or not
I was literally bragging about getting 37 hours without needing to charge (only around 2ish SOT) 4 days ago. Then like the phone heard me I started having the phone completely die after less than 10 hours with the same amount SOT. That has been the case for the past 3 days. I don't think anything else has changed except the update.
My battery also started to act up so i just clean flashed the feb update and here is the result

look at mine etc - it went from 100 to 5%!
For me it's android core apps which is killing the standby time. It seems to be related to contact sync. Any fix for this
