Screen casting a MI A2 Lite to a Sony Bravia Smart TV - Not working - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello everyone!
I'm trying to screen-mirror my A2 Lite to a Smart TV Sony Bravia KDL40W605B, but for the moment I cannot do it.
Both the devices are connected to the same wireless network, they browse happily without any problem and have the latest software updates installed.
If I choose "Cast" from the notification bar and choose the Sony Bravia TV from the device list, nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to solve this issue?
Thanks to whomever will answer me.
P.S. Just for saying, my old Samsung A3 (2015) and my old Huawei P8Lite (2016) did screen mirroring with that Sony TV without any problem.

I don't think there is a solution yet, except trying some 3rd party apps. I also tried to use this phone with screen mirroring or whatever Samsung TV's function is called, and it briefly worked, the image freezed on the tv, followed by the phone failure to connect to that device again until unplugged and plugged in again, followed by the same error. Sometimes it would work for hours, sometimes not at all.
On my friends Samsung (A5 or something like that) connecting to that TV works just like charm.

Hello TheoXSD, thanks for answerring me.
If the built-in "Cast" software doesn't work, then I'll use third party apps, there's no problem for me. The question is: which app should I use? I searched a bit on google play store and found tons of applications regarding this topic, but the majority looked quite obsure and strange to me...
My goal is to just duplicate my smartphone screen into my Bravia TV, nothing more.
Can't really understand why Samsung decives work so well when casting the screen...

I really have no idea. Better software support and licensing I presume.
As for which app to use, I have no idea, check them one by one, which fits you best. I gave up on screen mirroring since that day.

I understand. May I ask once again if anybody has any solution to this problem?
Because maybe I am doing something wrong, without knowing it.
That's just it, I choose "Cast" from the status bar, it recognises the Bravia TV and then...nothing happens and it loads forever.
Please somebody help

Look for scrcpy (PC software), it connects via usb. On linux it works fine.

I guess the only problem would be that I need to screen cast my smartphone's screen through wireless and not through cable. Thanks anyway.
However, yesterday something happened, both positively and negatively and I managed to cast my Mi Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite to my Sony Bravia KDL40W605B.
I followed a tutorial on YouTube by Geeki Review and it worked once, just once, perfectly, and then it stopped and I couldn't manage to make it work again ever more, even though I replicated the same exact steps.
The tutorial was like this:
1) Go to TV -> System Settings -> Setup -> WiFi Setup (Or simply go to SEN, Settings, Network).
2) Activate WiFi and WiFi Direct and then go to WiFi Settings
3) Press Options on the remote and choose Manual, Other method, No WPS
4) Now the TV offers you a WPA Key, take a picture of it or write it somewhere!
5) On your smartphone go to Settings, turn of the WiFi, find the Bravia Wifi network and connect it using the WPA Key
6) Wait untile the registration process completes and the choose to forget that WiFi Network
7) Now on the TV remote go to Soucres and choose Screen mirroring
8) On your smartphone choose Cast from the notification bar, choose Bravia TV, choose Accept on the TV and then wait, it may take some minutes.
It worked perfectly only ONCE.

[APP] Samsung Smart view Dual View

I will not be monitoring this thread, I have a T-Mobile T999 but wanted to share this with the SGS3 community at large. Feel free to post results, and any additional mods (ie. Getting it to work with ASOP Rom's) in my original thread
For some reason, beyond my comprehension, Samsung have this great app, but have yet to open it up to the SGS3. I have been resorting to downloading it and installing it on my HTC HD2 (Running CM9) backing it up with Titanium, and then copying the backup over to my SGS3, and restoring the backup. A bit round about, but works.
The App, for those that don't know, allows you, with a Samsung high-end TV or BR-Player, use the app to not only as a remote, but as a second mirrored screen, with audio. Great for trips to the kitchen, bathroom, outside, or in another room (although range is limited by your router).
[Supported TV Models]
- Samsung Smart TV released in 2011:
Models greater or equal to LED 7000, PDP 8000
- Samsung Smart TV released in 2012:
Models greater or equal to LED ES7500,(Models greater or equal to LED ES7000 in Europe, Models greater or equal to PDP E8000 Models(E7000 Models in North America)
[Supported Phone]
While technically only SGS2, it works with SGS3 stock rooted rom, but should work on most with a stock base. It will not work on CM9/10 and ASOP ROM's but you could give it a try and let me know.
Here is the actual app, I extracted it from my Titanium backup figuring someone could use it until Samsung get around to updating the Market to let you just download it. The only thing I can't get to work is Bluetooth power on. I can pair with my TV, but it just doesn't show up until I have turned it on. I also had an issue with it working over the the 5Ghz 802.11n band, but with 3.1.9 that doesn't seem to be an issue anymore.
Version 3.1.9 - 39MB - Confirmed Working for me with 2011 PDP51D8000 Model
Version 3.2.0 - 40MB - Also Confirmed working

What about the 3.2.1 version? Can anyone share it?
Thanks, i didnt even know such an app exists
Anyone? I cannot download it with the sgs3, but could be done with a sgs2. Please share the 3.2.1 version.
Hello,
I have an issue with the App. I can´t see, what there stands. The Display always turns on and off.
I´m using Omega v34.
Edit: I´ve connected it with TV. It is working fine. But the Display turn on and off issue still exists.
App is working with Omega v34. But for me only the remote control and the gaming control.
NO dual view and the other stuff. My TV is UE46C7700.
Screen off and on issue is after device reboot gone.

I can no longer access the new file on my old HD2, it no longer shows up. Tehrefore I can't post 3.2.1 but the viersions here work, and nothing major in 3.2.1 that would require an update and if you look online, it says nothing new. So while 3.2.1 may be nice to upgrade too, I can't see any requirement to do so, if the version you have works.
Just read teh comments on the 3.2.1 version of the app, looks like 3.2.1 doesn't work more than it works. Numerous comments about it breaking dual view, or issues with Flicker. So if 3.2.0 or 3.1.9 work for you, then stay with them
Dual View is only guarenteed to work on Samsung TouchWiz based ROM's. I have it working on both my GIII (Now ith Jelly Bean) and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Custom ROM's may not include all the components that are required to make this work. I doubt anything in 3.2.1 will change this, and make it work for some who aren't working now. Both the TV and the phone have to be compatible or you just get a very large file for a remote control.
Also in the main thread, see link in OP, there is an even earlier version for those to try who are having problems...
works great
bluetooth power on : (selected model tv only.. 7000 and 8000 series have this. others , wouldnt know)
first start app you would turn off bluetooth and wifi and let the app complain about the missing radio and quit app (clean memory in taskmanager to be sure)
now pair your tv > within 50cm reach of the TV (security feature)
turn off bluetooth
start app and wait for it to nag about missing bluetooth. turn on bluetooth with the prog and see in the popup if your tv is listed as paired. if not do the pairing again. (it needs a few tries sometimes) press back and now see if it shows your tv and press bluetooth power on icon and wait for the tv to respond and after that to connect to wifi and connect to your phone.. takes about 40 secs or so.
3.20 works best for s3 i9300 on stock rom
app requires DRM , decryption service and samsung movieplayer and offcourse a samsung build.prop
3.21 porting to s3 > not so easy, you may want to read a little more about the crappiness of it.
edit: using version 3.20 still works great with 4.1.2 luxemburg stock rom rooted with CMW philz touch, modded bootloader, led-mod and signed multiwindowmod, apex 2.4 pro launcher. BT power-on works. in multi-window with other app works. if u dont see controls in fullscreen turn off gesture control and or taskbar hiding or just press where the button supposed to be normally. version 3.22 from market doesnt work, only remotecontrol.
working on perfect on 4.1.2
I am paired but still doesn't show up to power on.

I have the 2011 PDP51D8000 Model TV, and have looked at all menu options, but still can't seem to get power on to work. Not a big deal, would be nice, but I can live without it. Just glad Dual view works flawlessly on both my SGS3 and Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Finally!
I've been looking a long time to get my remote back. Thanks a lot for this!
I can also confirm that this app works fine with Samsungs C8705.
Too bad i got a UE37ES5500 TV and it doesn't support this option.
It works on Galaxy S5
Tested and Working perfectly on Galaxy S5
Can't fint TV.
This app can't find my TV (C8705) any more and I'm using a Nexus 4 with Lollipop. I think it stopped working before I got Lollipop but I'm not sure. I've set a DMZ between my device and TV in my firewall, so that can not be the problem.
Any ideas?

Miracast to Sony TV ?

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has been able to screen mirror via miracast their Tab S to a non Samsung TV without using a dongle (to a miracast capable TV)?
Thank you for taking the time to look and especially if you can help!

Yes,
I was able to connect my Tab S 10.5, 32GB version to a Sony KDL-65W850A television without any dongles, or problems at all.

You bet! All I had to do was turn on the screen mirroring by pushing the "screen mirroring button" located in the drop down menu(the toolbar that shows up when you pull down the notification bar, sorry, I can't think of the actual name of the menu right now). Then go to your TV and go to the input menu and scroll over to the right and you should see an input for a wireless device, or something to that effect. Click on that input and it will start searching for your tablet. The first time I had to restart the scan from my tablet because the television didn't find it. Almost instantly after restarting the scan from my tablet, the television found it. I'm not by my TV now, but if I remember correctly, the very first time you try to connect a new device, the TV comes up with a list of devices and you have to click on the tablet. After the TV has successfully connected with a device, all that needs to be done next time is simply turn your mirroring on, and click the wireless device input on your TV, and it will connect without having to choose your device from a list. That's all I had to do. Good luck!
Sounds good! I have a w905, so hopefully it works as well as for you. Thanks for the help!

Hello,
I did a little checking around for you. From what I read on Sony's website, it looks to me like a USB adapter is required for a wireless network connection. The adapter is a UWA-BR100, but after doing some research on the adapter, it looks like it won't work for miracast. Now, I couldn't find it on Sony's website, but several people made the comment that the adapter specifications state that it does support miracast, although nobody seemed to have been able to get it working. It may be possible to wirelessly stream through the adapter, but I wasn't able to find anybody that had been successful. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I have a Chromecast, and am hoping the Tab S gets the update for screen mirroring that way. Just thought I might be able to do it before the update.

Chromecast freezing Samsung Galaxy tab s

I just installed Chromecast to use with my tablet. The screen freezes after 3 to 30 seconds when viewing youtube and other online videos but seems to play videos installed on my tablet without a problem. I have tried just about everything I can think of to overcome this issue but with no success. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app many times, and have reset the chromecast many times as well. From my online searches for an answer, I see that I am not the only one having this problem. Has anyone found a solution to this issue?
No issues here, are you casting natively or screen casting?

Why are you screen casting when you can cast directly to Chromecast?
Screen casting can tend to be laggy.
I don't know how to cast directly. Lagging is not the problem. After anywhere from 3 to 30 seconds, the screen freezes on the TV and on my tablet and then the tablet reboots automatically and then I have to start over (with no success).

The whole point of chromecast is that it plays streams directly.
You can mitigate your problem by doing this.
Practically any stream, be that Web, local, or server based can be cast to Chromecast natively.
For casting from the Web there are 2 great apps one is Web video caster and another is Vegacast. Both will cast practically anything Web based.
Simply open the page where the web stream/media is then click the More button in stock browser then Share and then Web Video Caster.
Finally select the media you wish to play.
It should then cast.
Or just open Web Video Caster first and then navigate to the Web page required using its in built browser.

Thanks for your help. I was able to get things working by following the directions in another post "How to directly cast from android device in tethering WiFi AP mode" quoted below:
"I directly sent both local media from my device and internet media to chromecast connected to WiFi AP in tethered mode from same device: a thing that was deemed impossible.
Procedure:
1) started WiFi tethering on main device (Galaxy Note 2, N7100, 4.1.2 firmware, N.E.A.K kernel);
2) long pressed chromecast button to reset and start configuration;
3) used a second android device, with chromecast application, to configure the chromecast dongle with main device WiFi cloud;
4) turned off second device;
5) started Bubbleupnp on main device;
6) in devices tab, selected chromecast as renderer and "local media server" as library;
7) then in library tab, chose a video, and believe it or not it started playing on chromecast yabbadabbadoo!
I also successfully casted music files, Google plus photos, dropbox files, and whatnot from Bubbleupnp.
Then I tried another app, mirror4cast, which mirrors the android device screen to chromecast, and you know, this worked perfectly too
Finally, I got arrogant and decided to try YouTube. The official app does not recognize the chromecast dongle in this setup, so instead of using it, I opened my browser (mobile Firefox) and loaded a web page with several embedded YouTube videos. To send them to the chromecast dongle, I used another third party application, Web Video Caster. Full success, in fact I am enjoying a Rolling Stones video while writing this
Now people please experiment and confirm my findings, to exclude I am hallucinating or I got an happily defective unit…"
you didn't mention in your original post you were tethering.
if you are using the Screen Mirroring option on the newer Chromecast 2015 model (the puck), unfortunately it is not supported on the Tab S line.
I found this out after trying to contact support for a week to get a straight answer. They finally told me its a beta feature and will not work with all devices. When asked if they will be updating the supported device list they told me they had no plans to do so.
So basically, if the mirror feature works, it works. If it don't work correctly with your device, you are sol until they decide to add more supported devices when they feel like it. Don't hold your breath though.
Some of the poorest customer service for a new device if you ask me. I still like it for streaming YouTube, Vudu, Google Play movies and the like.

I guess that would have helped. (I had to look up a definition of tethering.) Anyway, all's well that end well. I was able to get it to do what I want it to do. I was ready to take the Chromecast back to the store before I started asking questions on this forum. Just about every new piece of technology that is acquired requires a lot of information that most of us don't have.
Thanks again

I only wasted about 4 hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working. If I had known what you know, it would have saved a lot of time. It seemed like such a simple solution when we bought it, but nothing is ever simple when it comes to technology.
You can cast the screen using the official chromecast app, works for both chromecast 1 and 2.

Strange how it works on the t805 and not the t700.
Well there's hardly ever a time when you need to actually cast the screen.

yah i find it odd, but it shows that there is clearly a difference in the two that we are missing somehow.
Only thing I would use screen mirroring for is if I wanted to play some games on the big screen that don't have a cast feature already built in.
Screen mirroring works on my galaxy tab s 10.5 (t800) but not for video.
I can cast the screen just fine, but if I start a video on the tablet it will freeze and restart. Sometimes it happens immediately, sometimes it plays for some minutes and then freezes.
It has been like that since I bought the tablet. Many updates, but the issue was never solved. Happens on chromecast 1 and 2.

Miracast / Play To / Wifi

So I took the plunge and forked out for an Asus Miracast dongle now that Netflix is finally available where I live.
I had seen several demos and explanations on internet suggesting that you can mirror the screen of any app using the Play To function. That is technically correct, but what I can't understand is that in both of the links below, the video / screen shots clearly show the "Play To" mirro function being connected to a display device AND the phone's Wifi connected at the same time.
I cannot replicate this. Every time I connect the Play To / miracast, my phone gives me a message saying that the Wifi will be disconnected while the Play To connection is active, which effectively means that I have to rely on mobile data through the SIM card to stream the media from Netflix!! Not exactly what I had in mind.
Has anyone actually achieved what the links below suggest is possible?
Is my problem due to the fact that my ZF2 is a 550ML?
Or could it be an issue with the Asus dongle?
I also have several other older Android devices with "Play To" / Screen Mirror functions, and they both behave the same, but I thought that the ZF 2would be capable of handling both connections at once?

Seems to have been a glitch. It was connecting via Wifi, not Wifi direct, but trying again the next day it worked perfectly...
I've got a zenfone 3 x008dc and since the latest update firmware, the "play to" function has disappeared from my quick menu setting and also from cellular networks. i tried searching for it in settings and it comes out blank. I'm not able to mirascreen or miracast on to my tv anymore. can anyone tell me what I have to use now as an alternative or where to find this function?

Screen mirroring on a Sony KD-49XD8005 AndroidTV not working (anymore)

Greetings,
I'm trying to mirror the screen of my Samsung Galaxy A3 Smartphone (using the pre-installed "Smart View" app) on a Sony KD-49XD8005 TV (using the pre-installed "Screen Mirroring" app) and it just isn't working. More precisely it isn't working anymore, because some time ago it did work. I can't provide many details, sadly, because it was the TV of my sister back then. I got it from her only a few days ago. Just one thing: it was definitely an older Android TV version back then.
I see the TV on my smartphone, but the connection attempt fails after 1-2 minutes. I see that a WiFi-direct connection gets stablished inbetween, then everything disappears.
I've searched on the internet in the hope to find a solution, but it didn't really work out. Most "guides" are rather useless like "restart everything, install the newest updates on everything" and so on. Some articles advice to turn off the bluetooth connection, which I did.
Some articles suggest to use Google Chromecast via the Google Home app, but that's a bit too much for what I wanted to achieve. All the privileges the app wants, all the stuff about adding "rooms" and what not... Casting via the Google Chrome browser was mentioned a few times as well, but I don't see anything related to this on my smartphone.
So from my understanding there are 3 options:
- getting the current setup to work somehow (not very likely, probably)
- replacing the current "Screen mirroring" app on the TV with the appropriate app from one of the current Sony TVs (would be my preferred solution, I think, but not sure if that works)
- installing some third party Miracast screen mirroring app from the play store (any advices?)
Would be great, if you guys could point me into the right direction here... If there is another option, please let me know. Was looking for a complete AndroidTV ROM as alternative first, but there seems not to be one as far as I saw.
Some details:
After the latest update Android TV 9 is installed on the TV. The version of the pre-installed Screen Mirroring app is 4.1.A.0.8 and it apparently originates from screnmirroring.com
Not sure if the missing "e" is a typo or if there was such a domain at some point. Currently I only can reach screenmirroring.com (with double "e") and this website is about an app called "Castto" from SoomApps, so it's something different, apparently.
Before this TV I had a very old one (not even a smart TV) and was using an Amazon FireTV stick 4k on it. Screen mirroring with the stick was working just fine. Also mirroring the screen of a tablet is working fine with the FireTV stick, so it's the TV, that is causing trouble, not the other devices.
Have you tried Chromecasting to the TV? I Chromecast to my 900e from various devices, including a Samsung tablet.
