Music control first - Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Questions & Answers

Is it possible to put the music control on the first page, so i don't have to go through sub menus every time?

You don't need to navigate submenus to reach music control: it can be accessed also with a single left or right swipe from the clock face.

You realize if you swipe right or left on the watchface this will bring up the music controls?
Global version both ways, I think with the Chinese version swiping one way brings up Alipay the other music control but can't tell you which way. ?

[Q] App for easy music control

Hi,
Istore recently released an app for iphones which helps control your music just by tapping on the phone. ie. if you want to pause/play music you tap once on your iphone, if you want to go to the next track you tap twice etc etc.
This is useful for sports or at times when you dont want to open the whole screen just to change the media or pause it; its a shortcut.
Now i know we have Wave Control for Android, but its not convenient enough, do we have anything similar to the one iPhone has for android? I mean tapping system?
Thanks In Advance
And i think this can be useful for a lot of users around the world!
Why no answer
maybe theres wasn't available yet..
Yep, thats just too bad...

The lock screen in PlayerPro supports double tap to play and pause, and swipe left or right for next track / previous track.

[Q] New Phone Queries

I got the M8 yesterday, but I have a few queries.
Where is the gallery / photo album widget? I had one on the HOX.
When I plug in a set of headphones that have a single button on the mic, what are the button combos?
I was hoping to press once to hang up calls, and use it to control the music player (one click to pause/play, two to skip tracks)
Can you change what button controls are?

Change the default ordering on the App Drawer to Alphabetical and look for Gallery. If It's a WWE you'll find it. If it's carrier branded I've no idea whether it's installed or not .. sorry
Headphones ?? ... I don't want to sound corny, but did you know that there's a downloadable full user guide on the HTC support site to supplement the Quick Start guide you got in the box. It says so on the front page of the Quick Start guide ...
Here's the link to it ... http://dl4.htc.com/web_materials/Manual/HTC_One_M8/HTC_One_M8_User_Guide.pdf ... dunno if it has anything about the ear buds but I hope it does
<later edit>Nope ... 200 pages and nothing about earphone control!! but trying it out ...
In all cases
Single click to kill phone call if in progress otherwise ..
Single click to pause/play current track
Double click in music - select next track
Double click outside of music - Last number recall
At the lock screen
long hold brings up voice dialer
Not at the Lock Screen
Long hold Google Voice Control
Hope that helped .. I ran out of ideas after trying all those

Its not the gallery app I'm after, its the widget so I can have a picture on one of my tabs that I can scroll through when I want.
Also, Single click didn't end current call.
In Music, single click seemed to go back a track, double click skipped a track.
I may end up getting the Headset Button Controller app again

Launcher with buttons on bottom/side?

Basically my HU is one capactive buttons but only for home, volume up/down, and back. They don't work all that great so I'm looking for a launcher perhaps can incorporate some custom buttons at the bottom or side of all screens sort of like the top bar w/ the home and back buttons. I'd like to put a navi, volume+/-, and a pandora button where I can easily switch apps without having to go back then to the app. Currently I'm using next launcher.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Dave
which head unit do you currently have?
This one
i was looking at one of those, what goes wrong with the buttons?
Nothing really it just seems the way I have my install it is hard to get an entire finger onto the button to activate it.

oh, I see how that could be a problem
Yeah it is behind a bezel so it looks flush but it eats up a bit of real estate since it the bezel on top of it is curved. I just hope I can find a launcher that has software buttons on the bottom.

How about a xposed module? I think Gravity box allows adding of pie controls.
Researching this now but can it be always there rather than triggered by touch?
I've played w/ pie and it isn't what I need. Really want perm. buttons down there that I can program. IE, volume up/down, navi, pandora, next, previous play. Even if it just shifted everything up a hair, i'll have to see if there is a launcher to do this.

There is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270198 Not sure if it would work on our devices. I returned my unit with the capacitive buttons on the side and went with one that has actual push buttons so you can get property feedback from them.
I'm looking or one that will not float atop other apps but rather occupy a predefined amount of space and push up the apps. I would lose maybe 3/8" of screenspace but then I can access apps directly from thoese buttons. I found an app called auto hide softkeys which allows me to sort of customize a bar but i need to swipe up to activate it. I can only add volume up/down and apps but i cannot find a way to add buttons to pause or skip songs. I'm looking into that apps XML file now but I don't thinK i can edit it.
Dave
You can always try adding the line
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
to the build.prop file, might not work since I think it is heavily dependent on the framework, but its meant to force the soft navigation bar by tell the ROM that there are no hardware buttons. I'm not sure you will be able to customize it fully the way you want. Does your car not have steering wheel controls?
Right but I also need to customize the navigation bar. I will try to modify that line and see. That app you linked me to is just like what I've been playing with and neither has the option to allow forward/next of audio.. Changing that line to 0 just messed up resolution and didn't actually make that bar permanent. Even if I have to swipe up it isn't a huge deal but I do need to find a way to get a next button.

The xposed module xposed additions allows you to remap the buttons, but I don't think you can add additional ones.
I think you will find you have an either or choice, either you can have a permanent navbar that you can't customize or you can have a floating 'widget' that you can customize.

Perhaps I can find a launcher that has this capability built in. Even the customized navbar doesn't allow me to skip to next song in pandora. Not a deal breaker but it'd be nice if I could find something that would display the navbar permanently even at the expense of a bit of screen space.

anyone use pie controls?

I discovered pie controls back with my g3 in 2014. Loved it, easiest way to swap between apps IMO. I really enjoy them and wanted to see if there was any other side launchers or "pie" style controls that people are using? Also for those who don't know if you double tap the recent app soft icon "square" on your phone you can quickly and easily swap between the 2 most recent apps.
I now also use pie controls. Though I use them as navigation controls because sometimes it's difficult for me to reach the navbar buttons at the bottom. I like that I can swipe from the edge and pull the notifications down instead of pressing the navbar button.
I recently started using Meteor Swipe. I put all my most used apps there instead of in pie controls because I find apps are easier to reach from the edge and feels more organised. I also included Tasker shortcuts that toggle Bluetooth, WiFi, and Autorotate so I don't have to reach for the quick settings up top (though I also have these set up in pie controls as long presses).
Oh! And Meteor Swipe also has floating widgets! I find this very useful with Unified Remote as i often use it to control my PC media. I don't like having a persistent Unified Remote notification controls.
Yeah I really like Nougat's double tap Recent Apps button to switch to last app.
I've used many pie apps from root to no root and this app won me over hands down the best

Dasaita PX6 Touch Buttons

Hi,
I just installed a Dasaita PX6 Max 10 in my nissan. It has touch buttons down the left hand side of the unit to select the menu, navigation, music, volume down and volume up.
I can go into the touch key study and remap the buttons without issue, choose a different program for the navigation button to load etc but I can't choose the buttons to load custom applications. There is no option to change the default music player so I am hoping there is a work around. I have tried a couple of button mappers from the play store with no success.
Does anyone know how to change the buttons?
Thanks.

Nothing. I have looked and followed posts to bind the buttons, albeit this only allows me to choose from a predefined list. It doesn't allow me to choose a specific application as far as I can see.
I haven't read posts where someone says this can't be done, nor have I read a post with instructions. Therefore I am wondering if I am missing something obvious and hence why no one else has this issue?
My software appears to be the latest available according to another forum post.

I'm not sure if that's a glitch. There could be a reason they don't want you assigning apps to the touch buttons... I don't know, but you can always customize your launcher or even install your own with customisable app buttons.
Thanks for your reply. For the time being I have downloaded Agama launcher which appears to integrate well, and I have disabled the music button.
From other research it appears that if the device was rooted then I could possibly use mtce tools or services to re assign the buttons so I'm currently looking for instructions for doing that, as the other articles appear to refer to px5 devices.
did you have any further success? I'm very much interested in that, too.

Unfortunately not. I didn't want to try and root it incase I messed up zlink and my vehicle specific parameters.
I just disabled the music button for now and use agama to launch everything.

Hi,
Yes I found that a different version of mcd tools which I downloaded from here:
Post in thread '[Release][PX3|PX5] MtcdTools-Control music players, customize buttons, voice control' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-buttons-voice-control.3436789/post-83416527
Allowed me to custom bind the music buttons to dab+.
I just had to change the factory setting for the music button first. I set it up to launch the radio on long press only. That way when I bound a short press using mcdtools it didn't open the default radio app in the background.
Yeah! Found that too and wanted to post it here, but haven’t had time to further play around with it. Works on my Dasaita Max10. Good tip the factory setting thing!
by the way: rooting worked flawlessly with this instruction (also based on posts in this forum):
It's all working great now. I have set the touch buttons up to open the media player on a single click and disabled that application In settings. This has allowed me to set it to open dab z on short press and Spotify on long without it opening the media player at all.
Previously I used it to open the default radio app and that caused issues with it going back to Spotify or dab z.
would you mind describing a bit more detailed, what exacly you did (which exact settings). Would apreciate that very much!
I'll post proper instructions tomorrow, but I went into factory settings and set the music button to open the media player on a short press. Then in Android applications I disabled the media player applocation so it didn't launch anything when pressed.
I then used mtcdtools to create actions for dab z and Spotify.
Then I bound the action to the key for the music button. Choosing dab z for the short press and Spotify for the long press.
thats proper enough for me, Thanks!
I downloaded poweramp from play store and it integrates with no hacking or rooting. I set it as my touch key default music player. Very much recommend it.
