After being the first person in Florida at a TMO location to report issues with my phone (not explosions) but lag, heat, etc... It's now finally being brought to fruition how bad this phone is. After being flamed by fanboys and people who just couldn't get past a brand name, you're now finally seeing even people like the central slam the phone. I will add, that they also were upset by my posts, videos of the phone(s) all 4 of them, failing.
So, with the Note 7 pretty much done, no matter what they do - what out there does what the Note 7 does? There really isn't anything out there that I can see (That if the note 7 worked as promised) would do what the Note 7 was supposed to do in a fluid nature. And while I want to go back to the iPhone, since they just work, I am trying to give Android's a fair shake. I just can't find anything out there screen size wise, security wise, speed wise, screen quality wise, resolution wise*, that really is 100% (not 99%) to the note 7.
Any idea's on a replacement? Whether I have to buy it overseas or not. I really am trying to give android OS and the companies who use it a fair shake.. Just not impressed from what I have seen out there as of now.

Samsung wants the phone back directly, not through the vendor. They have told me they would replace it as of last Wed. However, they told me in an email today that they will not send me a replacement phone. They said both versions are on hold and to return the phone to THEM but request a refund through TMO. This is really garbage in my opinion.
TMO will probably refund, that isn't the issue. The issue now is finding a suitable phone. One that, as I said " is 100% to the note 7 in specs".. I know performance wise, there is nothing that will touch the apple. I will take a "little bit of a hit" if I can find something with a 2k screen and has all of the other specs. Resolution on a screen is key for me and also to be able to do some other things like penetration testing and what not. Which is why I am avoiding the Apple platform for the first time since the inception.

S7/S7 Edge. Or if you really want the S-Pen functionality with the screen size, then sacrifice and get the Note 4

Can't do penetration testing with it. I have my 6plus and it's amazing how much faster and more fluid it is over the N7 grenade. Unfortunately I do need to test in the field and the iPhone 7 plus can't do it. And now with the jailbreak all but gone, it really doesn't leave much to be desired. IF the iPhone had a 2k screen, it would probably happen, but as of now, looking to see whats available overseas.. =/

I do like the S-Pen.. but really don't want to go backwards in technology. Then again, the N5 just works lol.. bah!
S7e is the note7 minus stylus and eye scanner. The charging port technology ...while USBC is nice, doesn't affect anything charging rate or transfer wise as far as I can tell. Been using the s7e for a few weeks as a replacement .... no issues. Even looks / feels the same.
The screen is a hair smaller but I can't tell the difference in hand and my s7e fit almost perfectly into the case I had for my note 7.

For the last few weeks, I've done nothing but scour the internet, reading articles, comparing specs, watching videos etc. and haven't found anything remotely close the the beauty of the Note 7, Samsung just has a way of designing phones to be elegant and appealing while making it functional in and out. I didn't really appreciate the little gimmicky features us Samsung "Fanboys" get until this recall, left me forced to look for a replacement phone. Being loyal to Samsung came pretty easy, not because of the name or anything, there just isn't another phone maker on the market that appeals to me aesthetically or on the tech front, Samsung stays ahead of the pack and always has some new reason to upgrade, at least for me.
What's making it hard to switch even temporarily to a different brand?
I've grown accustom to the curved screen that i once chocked up as a gimmick for its functionality, I now appreciate for it's feel and look, for example making the Note 7 look bezel-less and feel so comfortable in the hand. So while searching for a replacement I see other phones with curved screens and thing "Ok, here we go ..." then look how that companies curved screen functionality just pales in comparisons to Samsung's elegant, refined, clean UI and layout, even though I fully admit, I rarely ever use the edge function, but the thought of losing it makes me a bit sad. The same can be said for the s-pen, even as a graphic designer and digital illustrator, I don't use the s-pen as much as one would think, granted I do rough out sketches on my Note 10.1 2014 before going to my desktop and Wacom Cintiq almost every time I do client work, but the s-pen on my Note 7 stays in its silo unless I jot a quick memo or feel like playing with the functions ... but its there when I want it.
Wireless Charging & Fast charging isn't as accessible as you would think these days, considering Samsung users have it for years, I don't remember the last time i used a cord on my phone. I have an Official Samsung charging puck (non Fast-Charge) in my office at work, and an Official Samsung Wireless Fast-Charge Stand on my nightstand at home, again both functional and both beautiful looking with and without the phone on it.
Official Cases. Nobody does it like Samsung on Official cases, with every new Flagship purchase I grab all the Official Cases, beautiful, premium, function and overall are deigned to enhance the look and feel of the phone.
Build Material and Quality. Just top-notch.
Button Placement. After only using Samsung phones for so many years, the button placement is 2nd Nature. Laid out perfectly.
Camera, Don't even really need to go into details on that. Some of the best in the business. I use the camera daily, I take product photos for work in our portfolios online as well as print, and I use my Samsung's cameras to record our business videos. Everyone here uses the newest iPhones and still call me to take quick product photos for the clients, because as they say "Your phone takes way better pictures." And I agree lol.
Fingerprint scanner. Use it. It works and is refined to work great.
Samsung Pay. It works, haven't had it fail on me yet. And everywhere. Another reason why Samsung is the best in the business.
Iris scanner, new feature, call it a gimmick, I thought it was too at first, but damn ... it works, like every time, at least for me. And it's an awesome feature, Samsung gives you things like this to show you they are leading in innovation and tech, you don't have to use it, but you can if you want that extra gadget.
S-Health? I use it. I LOVE wearables, and once again Samsung leads the pack, I own the Gear s2 and Fit2 currently, and have owned every Gear since the 1st, I can't wait to dish out the money for the Gear S3 in a month either lol. And while the watch may connect to non-Samsung phones, the integration isn't the same. And I like everything cohesive.
Gear VR, Again, have had once since the Innovators Edition, and bought a shiny new one back in August for my Note 7, Use it maybe every 2-weeks to watch some Hulu or Netflix and explore some content, But again, even though I don't power use it, it's there when and if I want to, adding another cool function and layer to own a Samsung flagship.
Some people hate Touch-wiz, I've owned no other brand of phone since the Note 1, can't say I've ever had an abnormal lag issue that people say they've experienced, snag here and there, but name a device or OS that doesn't snag every once in a while. Touch-wiz, like it or not, is clean, smooth, functional, easy to navigate and customize, modern and elegant. I never have any issue with it and I power use with heavy media use pretty much daily.
That said, Samsung nailed it with the Note 7. They did and I know I'm not alone is saying that. This phone aesthetically, is perfect. symmetrical, minimal but still flashy with the glass and reflection, the shape of the phone is exactly how I always wanted a phone to look, rectangle, thin, flat and the edges only slightly rounded, unlike Samsung's S-Series that are very rounded and almost look like a toy or feminine in my opinion, very round and bubbly, the Note series, seems to look more masculine and business like with harder corners and a sharper less-gimmicky aesthetic. And the Blacked-out understated Black Onyx Note 7? ... c'mon. So freaking sleek.
Inside, Touch-wiz is clean, granted I also use the "Black Edition" Theme and an app that create custom rounded Google Paper-esque Icons for each App icon, making my home-screen so great looking. * App I use is called "Materialize" I highly recommend it.
So I guess to keep ALMOST everything i stated above, the smart and easy solution is to just grab an S7 and maybe I will, but VERY VERY reluctantly, and without a choice, because as I stated above, they're just ugly, the shape of the phone I just cant digest. Spec-wise the phone is a parallel phone, ascetically and feel-wise, it's not even in the same ball-park. My little brother owns and loves his S7 Edge, I purchased an S7 Edge Pink Gold for my mom when i grabbed my Note 7 in August, she loves it, Says shes never owned anything so pretty. But for me, after holding a Note 7, there's no going back, it may not be a downgrade on paper, but in hand and visually, anything but the Note 7 is a downgrade.
After reading article after article and comment after comment of people bashing Samsung and of people trying to bully people or talk them into just exchanging the phone, I figured I'd write this post up as a little bit of insight into why I at least haven't yet, and maybe I'm alone in feeling like this, don't really care.
Overall, I feel safe with the phone. I don't fly often (haven't in years and don't plan to anytime soon) so the FAA Ban doesn't affect me. I own my home, my wife doesn't feel threatened by the Note 7 (also a Samsung user) and I know if my phone does "explode" that it's on me, I take responsibility for holding onto the phone after the recall. I will not sue or go to the media.
But I can't for the life of me, turn this phone in. I can't. lol I want to, so i cant move on and pout this recall fiasco behind me and enjoy my phone and my Gear VR, but after weeks of researching and physically holding different phone options, they all pale in comparison. In my eyes, Samsung finally made the perfect phone aesthetically, at least for me. And now I just gotta give it back?! lol nah. Not yet at least.
I'm on the next plan through AT&T, turned my S6 Edge + into upgrade, so without the Note 7 I'm phone-less, I've looked into just buying a temp phone until the S8, granted that the S8 appeals to me. And even with buying a temp phone, it has to be up to spec and allow me to have the functions I've grown used to with Samsung's latest Flag-ships. So again, an S7 Edge is my only option, and paying $800 for a phone that I originally passed on almost a year, is a hard pill to swallow. To think the S8 is just gonna be another S7 looking phone with only a 5.5" screen and maybe an added iris scanner, isn't really getting me excited, but I can at least hope they took a page from the Note 7's looks for it.
And then to wonder if the Note series in general is dead ... man. lol That sucks. The Note series wasn't built off trend like the iPhone, it was built of merit, its earned its reputation and earns my business. The Note 7 having it's issues is so unfortunate, especially when in my opinion, its THE BEST Samsung phone to ever hit the market.
So while I still weigh my options for a replacement phone, not knowing if I will wake up to that dreaded only 60% charge or even worse a blocked IMEI or bricked phone. I don't do it lightly. This post and my feelings may seem excessive, but Aug/Sept is like my Superbowl, I wait yearly for new tech announcements and I really enjoy it, my phone is on me daily, everywhere. It get used a lot, i have to hold it and use it a lot. I have to enjoy using it and trust my information on it, it has to be an all in one, and for me ... it also has to look good doing it. So that's why I love this Note 7. It nails my criteria and kicks it up 100 more notches.
I'm sure this post will get trolls throwing the "fanboy" crap around or the know-it-all's blowing it up with "just turn it in!" nonsense, But at least here's one persons view of why i still carry a "potential bomb" (laughable) around. And for the people that could easily just return, switch brands or exchange to an S7 and move on, awesome, wish i could too, but for me it's not that simple, I have too much invested in Samsung, money-wise and routine-wise, and too much time and enjoyment invested in this specific phone to just hand it over.

i wish i could like your post a billion times..you my friend jus gave the longest most interesting post i ever read. im not a poster im a reader but reading your post i had to say something..sadly for us in America samsung is releasing a big screen phone over in china..6gbram..6inch screen..im not sure about s pen though..its the C9 coming out in november..hopefully we get a phone very twin brotherly similar to the note 7 because its the best phone i ever used..

Sorry I didn't want to repost everything you wrote. I feel exactly the same way, word for word! Your post is upsetting me even more now, and you didn't even mention the water resistant feature or ability to pin hand written notes/reminders to the Always On Display...this feature meant I never had to turn on or touch my phone to remind myself of tasks when I am at work. Also, I rooted my phone and applied the dual speakers mod giving it the stereo sound with Viper4Android I so badly wanted on my Note.
It is a total and complete phone! How can I replace it???
I've received an email from Samsung saying they're arranging collection of my Note 7. :crying: I don't want to give it up but I also don't want to be in a situation where the phone is remotely killed and I miss out on the refund/replacement altogether. :crying:

I feel the exact same way. I have owned every Note since the Note 1 so I am obviously a huge fan. I actually bought the s7 Edge just in case the phone gets blocked or bricked and I still can't bring myself to send back the Note 7.
I can say I feel very much the same way.. with perhaps a bit the exception of S Health since the measurements aren't always correct (instead, I use a fitbit, and manual checking of heartrate/bloodpressure/glucose (which I then again do enter into S Health so it's not entirely pointless to me)).
As I have to return the Note 7 the same time as my wife (which is the biggest reason I haven't done just yet, our schedules are very different), I keep browsing the net, hoping to read or see something that makes me interested to another phone, but I keep coming back to my Note 4 when the day comes that I return my Note 7. The S7 Edge is in a decent second position (I've already stepped away from the idea of upgrading my phone and decided whatever I get next I'll just buy), and the V20 in a third place. There's still some thought of the Pixel but very little to be honest. I'll need to check them out in the store, maybe even take them for a week or so to make a decision (they don't do restocking fees in my state.
But yeah, so far, nothing has come close to the Note 7, and in a way I'm kind of glad my wife and I have such different schedules that I don't really have to get a new phone straight away.. or actually, perhaps I should, but it gives me a bit of an excuse (to my own that is, I know some people feel different about that, to each their own I guess) to keep it for now. I wont be flying for a few more months so I have time lol
I'm disappointed to have gave up my Note, it was a hell of a device, more so on the design front, it's the best designed phone I've ever had, but I got a Pixel XL now and you no what I'm happy with it, the design is lacking a bit but other wise it's still a good alternative.

Do what YOU want. YOU. You are not put on this Earth to follow orders from others. As long as you are not harming anyone else then do it. KEEP IT.

I bought my first mobile phone in 1989! From that time I have literally owned hundreds of them. I cant think of a brand I have not owned but bet I could mention one or two most of you have not heard of! lol
This Note 7 was something else. It was so much more than 'just' a mobile phone, it just felt superb to own and to hold. It was so feature rich that I have had to keep out of numerous threads here where the OP is asking what to exchange the Note 7 for? The answer is literally so simple. There is nothing presently on the market that combines all the features, quality and performance that the note 7 does-did. Sure some have this or that feature but the Note 7 had the lot and many more besides.
I am so disappointed to have had to return my mobile TWICE I just cant write any more on that point.
My only hope is to get another 'tech junkie fix' in March? Failing that...........well lets see.
The Note 7 in some form must live on and Samsung should be hard at word in their R&D department ensuring the Note range continues.

The only Phone that is comparable to the Note 7 is the Mate 9. Look it up, due for release next month. Makes you wonder, Mate, Note. For all WE know is it is all part of a long drawn out marketing plan.
Besides the official release date for the Note 7 in Europe was (is still listed as) October 28th. Same exact date the Note 2 was released. And the Note Edge. And the Galaxy View. Hmmm. Pattern Recognition alert!

Ever considered the Note Pro 12.2?
Strange how there aren't many other Samsung devices that utilize the SPen Stylus. Was looking for alternatives to the Note 7 and in lieu of following the 'in-crowd' I went completely in the opposite direction. Eye-ing the Galaxy View right now, along with the Note Pro 12.2, but can't find it currently on sale anywhere!!?
If anything resembles the original Note 7 then we are looking at the Mate 9. Mate? Note? SEE how this works.

Yea Samsung has no shortage of unlocked phones to choose from, the remaining problem with grabbing one is no VR comparability still.
I'm locked down to Note 5, S6, S6 Edge, S7 or S7 Edge to use my VR, but at this point I'm looking and open to anything even if just temporary.

Thanks, OP. Very well stated. I feel exactly the same. I'm keeping mine until they set a deadline for a refund, they block my IMEI, or the Galaxy S8 comes out.
The Huawei Mate 9 leaks look good, but no wireless charging, no S Pen, and no Samsung Pay. Plus the higher resolution curved screen may be China only.

Nope, unless there is and I don't know about it, but I'm pretty sure the VR privliges are reserved for the flagship, with the high specs.
I've thought about the Note 5 and i might be willing to lose the curved screen and SD card at least temporarily. Honestly I had the S6 Edge + before the Note 7 and never ran into a storage problem, used the cloud for stuff and never keep a lot of games or anything on my phone anyways, i leep those on my tablet, between VUDU, Google Play Movies, Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Video and Music, storage wasnt an issue. But I'd prefer to never have to go back to no SD card again lol.

The Note 5, S6, S6 Edge, S7 & S7 Edge are all compatible with the new gear VR. There's an adapter to change the USB port to the phone.

I totally understand this. To be honest, I am still trying to figure out why so many people got the Note7, but admit the stylus wasn't important or a thing they used. Why didn't they upgrade to the S7 Edge six months earlier. To me, the point of the Note series was the stylus once the other phones got big screens, too. There is no other phone that makes taking hours of notes easy to do and easy to reference.
I am stuck in a horrible limbo without a true replacement phone. I keep hoping someone is going to post a "I found a replacement" link that has a stylus.

Premium build, Better looking form factor, larger screen, latest tech. etc. I use my stylus, just not as much as people think you're supposed to, that's like saying "why do you have a waterproof phone if you don't go swimming?" waterproof or not, my phone will never see water. If the S8 was an exact clone of the Note 7 minus the s-pen, I'm all over it. But if it comes out looking like another rounded, pebble-shaped, bubbly piece of glass like the S7 I'll once again pass and wait for the Note 8 that i hope has the sharper corners and better overall aesthetics . I work professionally as a graphic designer and freelance digital illustrator, and STILL maybe only pull the stylus out once a week to jot down a grocery list or idea, unless you're someones personal assistant or something like that, I really don't see the s-pen never leaving your hand.
The Note isn't and hasn't ever been just about the s-pen.

The s7 edge has "sharper" edges on the screen the Note 7 are more subtle making it easier to use. The always on display on the Note 7 is MUCH more useful. These are the two biggest and most important differences to me between the Note 7 and s7 edge. I don't use the S-pen all that often but there are some situations where it's unbelievably useful.

My wife's AOD in her s7 edge is practically useless. Basically just a clock.
My hope is that the note 5 gets the AOD when it gets the Nougat update. I just purchased a note 5 to use till the next note comes out.
I'm considering Pixel XL with Project FI. It's a downgrade for sure, but It's a fastest android phone and from Google. And Project FI is only available on Google phones - basically, unlimited text/talk plus some data, best coverage in the US and possibly the world for only $25 a month.
What do you think?

Its no way as useful even with the update.
It won't show you calendar appointments and tasks like it does on Note 7. Other SPen related features like pinning hand written notes on the AOD screen are amazing useful and convenient. These could never come to the S7 Edge.
Without ever seeing the Fold in person and actually handling it I going to miss a few features based on the Specs I've read and videos I've watched. Here's my list.
Features I might miss:
1. Larger front facing screen...my caveat here is if the screen was larger it would probably be way too skinny anyway and would look really weird because of the dimensions..
2. Iris Scanner - love this feature on my N9. I know it's already gone on the S10's but it just works so well.
3. Update :MST for Samsung Pay is Probable for all phones. From what I've read, we're only getting NFC at least on AT&T but their website could be wrong since Samsung says it will have MST & AND NFC. That is always the beauty of Samsung Pay over various other Pay technologies. Worked just about everywhere for me.
4. MicroSD slot. OK, I might not use up the 512GB but do love the MicroSSD option which is great to easily move files and backups around., etc.
5. Waterproofing. I'm guessing that the Hinge is the problem and it would be difficult to waterproof the phone because of it.
6. The Fold would have been perfect if it had an S-Pen...with a selfie camera in the S-Pen (LOL!).
Features I'm not happy with (but I'll still live with):
1. That damn notch with a bezel on the big/inside screen. Almost made me bypass the pre-order. If that screen wasn't so large, I definitely would not have bought the phone. I swore I'd never buy a phone with a notch...Oh well.
2. (I know that this should probably be number one) The Crease! It remains to be seen but every video displays the crease in some manner. I find it funny that any article that I've read where Samsung has replied states that the crease is only seen in these **pre-production** models and the crease will not be seen on the final Fold versions. I'm not holding my breath on this one! So many reviewers stated that looking at the screen straight on and/or with a different wallpaper that the crease is barely visible or not visible at all. Now looking at the screen off to the side, the crease can be seen.
3. The batteries. They should have installed greater mAh capacity batteries. C'mon Samsung! You're using 2 separate batteries, give us more juice. You know we'll be on the 7.3" screen constantly!
4. I'm not really mad that they removed the headphone jack. I love options but 99% of the time I'm using BT headphones anyway.
5. The cameras. OK, we have LOTS of them! But for almost $2000.00 these cameras should have been even better than the S10/S10+'s cams. This Fold phone is Super Special and should have had a little bit more (can you say 10 X optical zoom? Might not have fit though).
6. I am still not fond of the Bixby functionality in comparison to Google Assistant. The Bixby routines are probably the best part of Bixby. I'll probably bypass Bixby.
7. Bixby button also being the fingerprint scanner. I'll lose my mind if I continually activate the Bixby button instead of unlocking my phone. That would make me crazy so I would use other software to disable Bixby altogether.
8. Many early articles on the Fold stated that Samsung would give us a free year of Samsung Premium Care+. I'm hoping that when I receive the Fold, I'll be surprised and find documentation to sign up for our free year. I'm probably dreaming...
9. They should have offered more for Trade-ins. Only up to $300.00 where it was $550.00 for the S10 possible trade-in values. (I'm kind of glad though since I may just need to keep my Note 9 around for awhile).
Unknowns:
1. It remains to be seen if the developers will build apps to work with continuity and sizing, etc. If that isn't done then we might own a $2000.00 boring paperweight. I need my Kustom suite of Apps and if they don't work, the Fold will be almost useless to me).
2. Will the Fold just be too long to easily fit in my pocket. I never put any phones in a back pocket but occasionally put in front pocket. Most of the time it's in a zippered pocket in a jacket or purse or backpack or small waist pack. I'm really not too worried..yet! Hahaha!
3. We definitely need a variety of cases. I'm sure they'll come. The interest in the Fold has seemingly surpassed Samsung's expectations. Samsung kept the final Fold design under wraps so long that I think that's one of the reasons the case makers haven't delivered yet (or they thought that the Fold wouldn't have much interest). I need a super protective Clear Case. I want to show off that Martian green with Gold Hinge!! (and I want to look at it too).
Final observations:
With all of the unknowns and possible negatives, don't get me wrong. I want the Fold!
I love being an early adopter and have saved up for this thing. I've been following Samsung over the years and drooling at all of their foldable prototypes.
With Samsung's track record on gorgeous displays, I know I'll love the tablet screen. I think that the small front screen is not a deal breaker because I liken it to my Lock/AOD screen where I glance at information then move on to the larger screen. It will be just one more step to fully open the Fold. Not inconvenient when you know what's coming! A huge, beautiful screen.
The COOL factor for the Fold is priceless! I am so anxious to get it and I know the feeling will continue as others spot the phone and want to check it out.
If the Fold ends up being a fantastic phone for me, then I'll be selling off a few other Tablets I have as well as my N9.
This is going to be Big! Cannot wait to play!

Based off of the limited amount of people that will buy and have this device probably not, but I could be wrong ?
I'll miss the spen even though I don't use it that often, but the main thing I'll miss about that functionality is being able to capture video as an animated gif (I don't know if this exists on the S series as I've only used Notes as far as Samsung's go). I'll probably use my old Wacom dumb capacitive stylus that's been sitting a drawer for a few years for the simple diagrams I draw in meetings using One note. It did the trick when I used to use an iPad all of the time.
The small screen might get irritating if I want to tap out a message as I already find it difficult using something as small as an iPhone SE. Although with keyboard customisation maybe bigger keys can make that easier.
The notch doesn't really bother me. A hole punch would be equally as distracting as a notch to me on a regular phone, but in a screen that big I can't see it being a problem.
I'm definitely changing the scaling and fitting more on that display. Apparently that's how you get many apps to use tablet mode rather than a big phone layout, so I'll be really happy if that's actually true. But I'd set my mind on getting one even before I heard about that so I won't mind if it doesn't work on everything.
I haven't seen whether Dex is available in tablet mode as it is on the larger Samsung tablets. That would be a killer app for me. I know we can use up to 3 apps, but it's not the same as having a few windows layered and tapping between them, especially if you're copying and pasting between a few documents and you want that bigger layout on each to see text placement properly. Maybe someone will manage to extract and develop an apk that doesn't require root for that.
With regards to the above, I used to have a Toshiba PDA that ran Windows Mobile and with it's 800x600 display you could change the screen scaling and achieve a similar effect. It was pretty great.
The thing I'm mainly looking forward to is reducing my travel kit from a phone, tablet, and kindle to just one device. Ok maybe not just one device, I'll have room for my Switch more often now. Airport security love giving my bags an extra search due to all of the gadgets I end up carrying, and hopefully this will mean I just sail through like most other people.
And while it may be an elitist prick move, I want people to notice it. Most friends and colleagues know I'm a tech geek, but nobody notices the tech anymore, as all of the phones and tablets look so similar. They don't realise it's something new or cool and don't ask. Plus, nowadays all it involves is showing off something a bit faster with more storage and a better camera. Nothing has done anything new for years now. This brings back that wow factor when new phones had something brand new and sparks conversation about the future again.
The US devices will have locked bootloaders just like the other US Samsung devices. Unless I've missed it there is no word on international devices yet. If you're like me and root is a necessity you might want to consider waiting until the situation is sorted out.
Edit... One other thing I ran into today in regards to a potential S-pen is that a reviewer was opining the screen was too soft to support writing. That was a stated opinion not a fact from Samsung. So a guess but not an unreasonable one; It isn't hard to imagine the screen not being able to hold up to a pen.

The specs on Samsung.com for the Fold only show NFC for Samsung Pay. They did the same thing on the Galaxy Watches.

I'm definitely changing the scaling and fitting more on that display. Apparently that's how you get many apps to use tablet mode rather than a big phone layout, so I'll be really happy if that's actually true. But I'd set my mind on getting one even before I heard about that so I won't mind if it doesn't work on everything.

This would be great! I'm wondering if it's for Non US Folds. I'm hoping it's for everyone. I wish I had the eSim/nano sim option but not with my carrier (AT&T).

good that was almost a dealbreaker!!! no MST , because NFC hasnt really caught on the way they promised 6 years ago... at least not in places i frequent.

I'm out of here. I'm a rooter and right now I'm now feeling the love with dropping 2k on this device and then killing the warranty. Before I get started I have ordered my Note 10 5G in Aura Glow, and I'm happy with the design changes.
Ok so we all know or perhaps knew the Note line as being the one Samsung would test or perhaps throw in all the goodies into.....as it is known as the "Power House Device" or "Power Users". This seems to have stopped though and it's now really The S line Refresh. Or slightly updated.
It's at this point I scratch my head and ponder why Samsung bother with Two Flagships and why not or note have 1.....they are after all reminesant of a fruit based company.
Their used to be a difference between the 2 devices more than just an S-Pen but perhaps and true the market was different then than it is now, however casing point that yes people are holding onto devices for longer, so yes Samsung needed to do more to entice people to part with the cash (I'm a tech addict I will buy whatever I feel I like) so yes I do like the Note 10+, but I will also on the other hand say that Samsung did not do enough.
I like to see companies push innovation and yes some innovation takes time. For me personally I would have been happy with just a few things on this Note....the Snapdragon 855+ ok ok it's just marginally overclocked and the 90hz Display....., Could this not have been easily done? I think so but Samsung are a big brand much like Apple....they can get away with it. Also Samsung makes money in the Semi Conductor industry so it's not like they have to go all chips in with their devices.
But I'm yes just a little disappointed in that Samsung are quite content to see the competition not overtake or be leaps and bounds better. However to see others just pushing the envelope as Samsung used to do.
Yes great things seem to be in the works for next year, much looking forward to it, I just think that the Note 10+ could have dropped all these ****ty Harry potter bull, the camera doodle rubbish and focus on what made the Note the Power Users Dream.
So onto why I ordered and like it, mainly from a design perspective, I like the camera layout much better, like the more squared off look, Display is very nice, Cameras are nice, I have never had many complaints. And for me it's ok for another run of the sensors.
The Things like Dex I was getting more drawn in and thinks it's gradually improving so much so that I think more will be inclined to use it now. Gamelink is another decent feature, UFS 3.0 we all knew Samsung would be too dog here...with the read/write Speeds.
I still have it as a fantastic device, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but guess it's people like me or if your like me, that perhaps slows down or encourages these companies Samsung/Apple to simply cash in. Less of them having to really try because Samsung are capable of better, Apple are to, yes the iPhone will be much of the same to (small updates) I just didn't want to see two very different companies look quite so much the same.
I'm sure many will pick apart my arguments & some will agree....I'm not looking for nodding dogs.
Just expressing myself in a relatively balanced way (maybe contradictory by buying, but I do like the Note 10+, just expected more).
Well let's get the fun started....
I have zero issues with their being two notes.
The Note 9 having two versions was a sign of the times and I think the idea that the higher tier sold well solidified the move to have two versions this year.
That said, I don't even pay the non plus any attention, it's not an upgrade for me coming from a 9. Frankly the Note 10 should be the Note 10e.
I get the idea though, the smaller note with the cheaper price tag (and likely to see larger price drops) will be used to lure in people that would've either moved away from the note because of the larger size and folks that think the Note is too much of a phone so stick with smaller form factors. You also have the small hand people but even then 6.3 isn't tiny. Add a case and both are that much bigger.
If this brings more people to the Note then I have no issue with having a lower tiered phone, we can equate this to apple all day and that's a low hanging fruit argument kind of like Samsung going after apple for the headphone jack.
We keep knocking them and saying they are copying apple every time we aren't happy with a decision but they aren't the first to seal in the battery, they aren't the first to remove the headphone jack. At the same time though, being explicitly different from Apple doesn't exactly mean sales will shoot up (the bottom line) so I think there is more nuance than pointing fingers and complaining they are becoming the thing they hate.
So we have choice and are still not happy?
People moaned about the Note being too big so they gave the choice of two.
Others moaned about the Note being too small so they gave us the choice of two.
I fail to grasp arguments why there should not be the choice of two variations?
It must be the most impossible profession in the world working in mobile devices R&D.
We want bigger, no smaller. We want thinner no bigger battery!
We want all screen with zero bezels, oh look it has a tiny camera spot in the middle!
In reality this new Note 10+ is a beast of a mobile! Mine is coming with 512GB and 12GB RAM on a mobile phone?! Superb screen. multiple cameras and the S-pen, ad infinitum.
I regret the day I sold my Note 9, and yes all the same moans where here about the note 9 too, and purchased the iphone XS max. The note series are incredible devices, if you doubt me try an iPhone for six months! That will give you cause for reflection and pause!
I wasn't complaining about the choices in the two variants, however more in Samsung sticking to a set-plan.
This plan is to sell us on marginal gains, slimmer bezels have been a huge marketing thing and we buy into it because it looks nice.
What I mean is Samsung used to innovate and the note line was the bleeding edge, however the S & N line are very much similar, I would have liked to have seen more differentiation
I'm far from saying it's not a device worth purchasing (I have like I said ordered my Note 10+ 5G).
It's still a well balanced device to which I will enjoy, but we as consumers need to be vocal, rather than saying yeah this will do.....

I don't want to be that guy but you should speak with your wallet.
If you see them going down a path that isn't beneficial to the consumer, stop purchasing their devices. We can complain all we want in our niche communities but if the sales are good what incentive is there to change.
I mean this goes from they can do better to, hol up guys, I still purchased it.
Having issues with them but still buying from them is about the same as saying "yeah this will do".
As far as the note line not being the bleeding edge, we have to consider what makes the most money for some Samsung. As long as we keep the context that the S series makes more money, it only makes sense that the lines would blur and more innovation would come to the S series. It's about keeping shareholders happy and not about maintaining the legacy of the Note.
It's a phone, when a year drops that isn't all that impressive or a really impressive phone does come out. That is where my money will go. I have as much loyalty to Sammy as they have to me.

In the past when Samsung was still passing through their plastic phase with plastic backs, plastic stitching and plastic chrome I stopped purchasing Samsung. I went Sony and was very happy with that move. Come the Note 7 and I returned, twice!
I know we can all find something about all smartphones we don't like BUT this note 10+ is a stunning piece of micro engineering. 6 months ago I unwisely purchased an iPhone XSmax PLUS the iWatch 4. the watch is easily the most advanced on the market, the mobile is.....I simply don't have words! The iPhone alone cost 1,450€!!! The note 10+ is 1,230€ and they cannot compare. This Note 10+ is a pocket PC. I cant wait to get my hands on it.
I think one major issue is the line between best features and "bleeding edge" is starting to blur.
In order to really differentiate the Note series from the S Series, Sammy would basically have to gimp the S Series completely. In truth, the people who buy the Note, and the people who buy the S are two separate groups that are separated by more than just a 6-month upgrade cycle.
The S Series people are your base consumer level users who want a flagship Samsung device. They typically don't use it for productivity, but they still want and expect flagship features and quality.
The Note people love the S-Pen and typically use the phone for productivity, i.e. at work, and expect flagship level features and quality.
Yes the two phones are VERY similar, and will continue to be so. What else would you expect? Made by the same company, using same generation hardware, running the same software.
To say we should expect, or worse yet... DESERVE, a more premium device just because it's a Note, and the S Series people should get a gimped device is ridiculous and borders on entitlement.
The Note 10+ is a ultra premium flagship device. Some companies may have 90hz screen refresh, or maybe high MPs on the camera. But those are generally one trick ponies. Samsung gives the best total package money can buy, and for MY money there's no better value out there.
It's not that the S and the Note need to be different or higher or lower quality. They are just packaged differently for two specific user groups. And it's been this way for a while. The S Series is the bigger leap forward, then the Note perfects and marginally updates it. Rinse and repeat. Along with all the annual complaining that they aren't different enough.

I think the issue is nothing is going to be that impressive anymore. We have reached a point where nothing really stands out anymore especially to me. With that being said I am still buying almost every new phone including the note 10 plus so maybe it will impress?
My hunch is that 90Hz refresh may mess with the technology in the digitiser for the pen. As Samsung make the screen for the one plus 7 pro, I can’t see them not including it unless there is a reason like that. The pop up camera in the one plus is a really smart innovation though and is so quick that face authentication feels no slower than an iPhone. This means no interference with cutouts in the screen too. Mind you only apple really has a secure face authentication despite the s10 5g having a front facing depth sensor. Samsung also has very high pixel count camera sensors for mobile use that were ready to go but didn’t use them.
So it feels like the note 10 is a mix of cutting edge and good but not great other aspects. It’s not surprising that it has many people divided!!

I kind of disagree with you about the productivity and pen thing. I've been a note buyer since the note 2 and honestly I've barely ever used the spen.
For me it's always been about top of the top when it comes to specs and typically largest display size on the market
The note 10 (not the 10+) is a very bad joke.
Worse display, no sd card and smaller battery than note9. No led notification, no 3.5 jack.
In conclusion worse than note9.
I doubt anyone with common sense would toss that amount of money to buy at this starting price.
The top flagship mobiles from Samsung vary in features and size exactly like a car. Ford Focus. The focus range come in estate, two door sport, four door sedan and coupe etc. Very different cars all built on the same chassis etc but aimed at different segments of the population.
I have never understood why one would buy the Note line and not use the pen? Its what the Note is focused on and built around around !!!
Stop the comparisons and enjoy the choice. Buy what you need.
Like I said I purchased the Note 10+ 5G.....:good: wasn't meant as a complaint as it's a fantastic device with very little to complain about.
It's just that with such a device perhaps some of us just expected a little bit more than what was presented.
However I have been using since Friday & everything is just dandy, very much appreciate the new design, that for me was one reason to buy, but also like mentioned the S-Pen and it's industry leading, nothing comes close to it's functionality and usefulness.

Which is why is said Note users "typically" use the phone for work and productivity.
The opposite is also true about the S series. They are TYPICALLY used used by just typical consumers, but are sometimes used for work and productivity.
Panasonic toughbook laptops are TYPICALLY used in law enforcement, fire departments, and other industrial settings, but that doesn't mean some there are SOME consumer level users.
I didn't mean to mischaracterise you or your usage, nor did I intend to make you feel left out. But as a matter of practicality, I can not 100% covert ever single user's individual use case scenario, I can merely comment on what I generally see in each segment of the consumer base. There will always be overlap.

This brings me back to my original point though. Forget productivity, if you just use the Note series for top tier specs, then what exactly do you expect them to do with the S series? There's a 6 month difference between the Note and S series release. We are a point in time when even YEARLY updates are merely incremental. There's no large leaps forward.
So again, we would have to ask Samsung to purposely gimp the S Series and alienate at least half (if not more) of their user base to make us happy so we have the best and toppest of top tier.
I mean they gimped the Note 10 so the Plus would be better and Note fans are mad about that. So what do you expect the S Series fans to say or feel when Sammy does that to them?

I wouldn't even say typically without some kind of numbers.
Given the community I've observed from the note 2 on, maybe it started that way when it was more of a niche phone but after iPhone started making larger phones and it become more mainstream, more consumers started purchasing it. More casual users typical of the larger market
Samsung has enterprise device support for business and they push out last year's model of the basic S device.
Most of the Reddit users I come across don't seem like business users. I mean some are sprinkled here and there, but I wouldn't say the trend is towards professionals..
Im working for a company that builds drones and space shuttles and your options for work phones that the company will pay for and allow on our Network are the S8 and some iphone.
The tough book example doesn't really work because that isn't really a big consumer device at all. You're paying for a rugged platform that is a LOT more than its consumer counterpart minus the military spec'd ruggedness. Samsung wants everyone to have this phone.
This reminds me of the people that would state that Nexus devices were for devs, but it was only people in the forum, Google never advertised that way because it's a great way to scare away sales..
