Dual sim and SD card simultaneously - LG G8 Questions & Answers

I live in Europe and thinking about getting the G8s (we only have this version). Did anyone try to use the dual sim+sd card hack that you have on samsung phone? Cut a sim, polish it down and glue it to the bottom of an SD card. Then you can use two sims and and sd card simultaneously. One can also use a sim extender to achieve the same result.
Samsung implemented a software block on this since android pie, not sure if LG has the same.
Thanks in advance!
edit: it does work. Just tried on a phone.

Please post instructions so I may try this....

could you let me know how you got the DUAL SIM to work? what settings/software/app's you had to use? I'd like to make it work thru factory software if possible
THANKS,
MS

[Q] SIM Card Connector?

I read online that some Chinese resellers have managed to solder a SIM Card Connector to the Incredible's motherboard that originated from Verizon USA.
Has anyone heard of this? Can we just solder a compatible SIM Card Connector onto the Incredible or are there other things that need to be done?
This would allow the Incredible to be used on their local CDMA network.
Attached are pictures of the authentic finished product with the SIM Card Connector.
I took a close look at the motherboard & indeed there are solder contacts for the SIM Card Connector.
Was wondering if one of those SIM Card Connectors available online & attached here could fit in that slot.
Anyone able to advise on this?
I hope to use my Verizon HTC Incredible on the China Telecom network in the future.
Please advise me...
Google gold card. There is a way to format a sim card to be used on overseas CDMA networks.
How does that thing work, and does it work?

The reseller was touting that it will work on the China Telecom network. I might need to verify if he meant the GSM or CDMA network.
I was wondering if the hardware for Incredible is similar to the Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in that it supports dual radio? Sprint's TP2 has CDMA as primary & GSM/WCDMA as secondary cellular radio.
That could explain why there is a SIM card slot in the Incredible.
On a related note, I discovered that the reseller mentioned something about writing something to the phone related to the following:
Basic communication functions: IMSI, ESN, A-Key EVDO Internet access: AN, AAA Does all these make sense?
I got the above information from this article: http://translate.google.com.hk/tran...=lPv&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivns

tulalhyt,
Do you mean that you have a 'converted' HTC Incredible now?
Which network are you using it on? CDMA or GSM?

spence341,
I googled 'gold card' like you suggested & I don't know what it has to do with this?
Here's an excerpt from an online resource:
What is a Gold Card ?
A Gold card is a special SD card which when inserted into your device allows you to flash RUU files with a different CID to your own device. For example if you have a AT&T branded device it will allow you to flash a generic ROM. As for formatting a SIM card to be used on overseas CDMA network, the Verizon HTC Incredible does not have a SIM card inside now so how can this work?
Or am I not understanding you correctly?
Thanks!
Konker
I am not sure, I came across a post by somebody in china that was creating a gold card to use the Inc in china. I don't know enough about it to give any advise.

Dual-Sim G4 questions

So I decided to buy a G4.
I know about the boot loop issue, but LG fixes it if it happens, so that's okay.
My Samsung devices all had issues (multiple), so yeah.
Anyway, I have a couple of simple questions regarding the dual sim edition.
They cost the same in the country, so I figured I might buy the dual sim one...but...
- Does it have the same, latest (MM) firmware?
- Do you get any annoying notification if you just use ONE sim card in it?
- Does it still have a microSD card slot besides the dual SIM slot?
The thing is, MNOs are becoming popular in my country.
So you can finally get cheap mobile internet, but on a separate sim card, of course.
This way I could just toss in a second SIM once I get a good deal, and hook my mobile data on that.
Thank you guys!

A3 SM320FD ( Dual Sim ) 2017 hybrid slot sdcard and sim simultaneously

Hey guys,
did anyone tried to use 2 simcards and sdcard with the new 2017 A series phones? with the sim card cut and glued to sdcard method?
I tried it, but for some reasons the phone doesn't see the sim card glued to the sdcard. I tried the sim in another phone ( normal microsim slot ), and it works.
I was thinking, maybe Samsung disabled this feature from firmware... curios if anyone got it working.
Thanks.
did anyone tried?
sorry to bump an old thread - i have a 2017 A3 and have the same inquiry. did anyone try this and succeed ?

I think i read somwhere that the sim might be pushing the sd card away of the pins. Maybe adding tape over the top of the sd might resolve it.

I've tried nano sim card adapter/extender and it's work just fine. You can buy one of them at aliexpress.com :fingers-crossed:
it works

I can confirm that it works! both, the 2 sims and the sd-card are working flawlessly!
The whole process might appear a bit risky but in my case it was absolutely easy and the result is great!
I´m using an SAMSUNG 64gb sd-card - i only sanded off the small upstand at the end of the card by using an nail-file.
For getting the chip out of the sim, a simple hair-dryer with approx. 60°-80°C worked!

I don't believe so. While the slot 2 is large enough for a micro Sim, I believe it wouldn't work. Slot 1 uses a nano Sim and slot 2 either a nano Sim or micro SD card. The SD card is oriented one direction and the Sim is oriented a different direction in the 2nd slot. I've never seen an adapter that would make the nano sit sideways in the 2nd slot and I doubt that old micro Sim would trim down that much without cutting into the metal. Surely your carrier will replace the old card with a newer all-in-one Sim.
Maybe the folks that have a dual sim phone will have more of an idea on this.
Hi @Tel864
I thought maybe something like that for S9:
https://www.amazon.com/UTP-Universal-Adapter-Extender-Android/dp/B07C7G35L6
where i can attach this in the sim slot and put my micro sim extern
any idea
thanks

I've never seen that. Something like that may work but I'm not sure about that one since it's for a different brand. When I searched for Galaxy S9 Sim card adapter in Google I did get lots of hits so you might try that. The one you posted is from a 3rd party seller so I'm not sure how easy it would be to return.
If you look at the different sizes of sim card, full sized, micro and nano have the same pin layout, it is just the plastic borders that differs. It could be a bit risky but you could cut the plastic edge off and make them into a nano sim without any trouble. I've done this and it works perfectly on my s9. Don't know if the chip under the contact pad is bigger on older sims though.

People have recently been reporting those adapters being recognised by the OS and rejected with a warning about a problem with the SIM Tray
Why not just get the SIM card replaced with a Nano SIM?
Or trim it yourself if the chip itself is small enough

Might work, but some of those old Sims had a larger contact area, especially those 16 year old ones like he has.

2 SIM cards with SD card not working

I'm coming across from the Note 8 and I have been running two sims plus an SD card inbthe hybrid slot. When I install the same in the Note 10 it says something is wrong with the Sim tray slot. There is zero function of the phone till I remove the Aim card slot.
Does anyone know why it won't work in the Note 10 or someone has it working?
Thanks

Unfortunately Samsung stopped this from happening.
Now, if all circuits (2x sim and 1x sd card) are detected in use, the device displays the Sim tray error and prevents you using the device until you remove either a sim card or the sd card.
This was introduced on Note 8 on certain firmwares and now applies to all newer released hybrid sim devices.
I'm guessing this is to avoid users damaging their devices as the hybrid sim tray was never designed to support all 3 circuits at once and did require some skill to ensure sim tray could still be inserted/removed.
I too was annoyed this happened, but can understand it is to prevent warranty issues.

It's there a way to get around this?
So what I managed to do if anyone else is in the same situation as me is. I took the sim/SD out and I can't remove the sim card from the SD card because the SD card holds it in the correct place. So I just copied all data off the SD card and painted over the connector of the SD card so it won't detect it, and now it only detects the Sim card. So both Sims are working now.
When there is a work around I will do that and use some paint remover to clear the connections of the SD card. But I do have a 1000gb SD card waiting to be filed and replace this one. I didn't use tape because I was too afraid it might come off and get stuck inside.
Because this sim is from a different country where my internet banking is linked to, is very important to have and because I dont go back to that country for 2 months I can't just ask for a replacement. So this is my best case for now.
