Wifi and Mi account not working - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

Hi all, i have a strange issue with my Mi Mix 2
Coming from Lineage 16 official, i flashed last global miui rom pie stable (with all wipes needed) but after the installation i get a bootloop on splashcreen (mi logo). Every restore in recovery end with error 255, so i tried to flash global fastboot rom 10.3.5.0 oreo (i cannot find the last pie rom) with miflash. Now the phone boot correctly (bootloader relocked) but i have two problems:
- wifi cannot turn on , mac address set to 02.00.00.00.00.00
- cannot login to mi account "Couldn't verify, wait a minute or two and try again"
Can someone help me? My mission is to install last global stable rom.
Thanks in advance

Download global beta 9.6.27 fastboot rom and extract persist.img, flash orangefox recovery and flash persist.img to /persist partition. I had the same issue.

how can i flash orangefox recovery with a locked bootloader?
Unfortunately i cannot unlock it due to mi account login issue.

you have to fix your mi account or go to a repair center, there is no other way around it.

hi, I have the same issue, can you backup persist and post here, i have tried many by orange fox but not solved wifi issue, I accidenlty deleted persist. It will be good if you mount persist, and copy its folder too into sd, and upload here. I am in trouble from the past few weeks to solve it.

I solved a similar problem ..

I had the global beta Android 9 on Mi Mix 2, then I put the oreo ... a disaster!
I used a tool and it worked!
it's called XiaoMiTool created by an Italian.
I don't know if I can put links ... then use google you will see that you find it!

I did use this backup but it did not solve wifi, but Bluetooth is working now. I saw a thread where they have same issue, and they just copied some files by root explorer, I will be thankful to you if you copy persist folder or just wlan folder.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/fix-mac-0200000000wifi-hotspot-t3454211

check this I need this file and folder only. Mount persist and just into persist folder just copy these two or just full folder. It will be much appreciated.

Did u solve the problem ?

I'll explain my situation to you.
I had previously installed the global beta version (MI mix 2) Android 9. I put Oreo and nothing was wrong, but I managed to magically access the phone's home screen without SIMcard.
because the sim was associated to my MI account (wifi module didn't work, and my ISP ILIAD didn't create automatic access point. in this phone)
if you need to enter an original FW version you don't need the unlocked bootloader.
if you can get to the HOME screen .. unblock the bootloader and use Xiamotool to reboot a rom you want, I have the Omni rom on xiaomi I mix2, (even if now I bought a MI9t PRO)
I reinstalled the global beta, then I put TWRP and OMNI ROM.

Whith xiaomitool 2 i solved all the issues. The tool ask xiaomi for unlock license, unlock the phone, flash root, and all the stuff. Flashing miui 9.5 i recover wifi mac.

Unlock help - Binding Device

Im trying to request a bootloader unlock, so i can get Global Rom installed. When i run the unlock tool it says my account is not bound to the device. When i go in to the settings a click Add Device and Device, i get a message appear in chinese. I assume its an error as the unlock tool still says it isnt bound. I can go to i.mi.com and the device is there, and i can use find device. I assume the only way i can get rid of the chinese message is installing Global Rom, but cant get unlocked to install global

Use a VPN app such as Super VPN and connect to a China server, then try to bind your phone to your Xiaomi account and you shouldn't get that 1008 error anymore.
Sent from my Mi MIX 2 using Tapatalk
Hey guys. This is not working for me. I've tried about 8 different vpn apps and its the same error every time. The vpn connects to china just fine, but I cannot get my device to bind. What should I do?
---------- Post added at 06:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:46 PM ----------
WOW, I ain't kidding, the 9th freaking app I tried worked. For those wondering, this is the vpn app that works. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.musjoy.turbovpn&rdid=com.musjoy.turbovpn
None of those other vpn apps I've seen recommended would work. This one does.
It need a few days,
I requested the unlock for my mi mix 2, got it about 1 hour later via SMS, then i tried to unlock every day, after 5 days it worked and i got my device connected to my account using "Totally FREE VPN" and "OpenVPN Connect" with an Chinese Server, worked fine
And, you dont need to Unlock your Bootloader to Upgrade from Chinese Stable to Global Stable, just download it, throw the zip in downloaded_rom folder, use the miui updater, choose update package, and it should work
No guarantee that it will work with the Miui Updater, i uses ADB&Fastboot to install TWRP + Global Stable
If you want to flash TWRP i can give you instruction how to do it.
(Windows instruction)
Unlock your Phone with Xiaomi Unlocker
After your Bootloader is unlocked, boot in Fastboot Mode.
open cmd from the folder where your twrp.img is, check via "fastboot devices" to check if your Phone is connected
Run the following commands:
"fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"
"fastboot boot twrp.img"
Your Phone should now open TWRP, do a Full Backup with EFS Partition - important!!
Then wipe System, Data, Dalvik, Cache
Now Install the Rom (+Magisk or what ever you want)
After it is installed DONT boot system! Boot again to Fastboot Mode, connect your Phone to the PC and run the command "fastboot format userdata"
Then normaly boot your Phone and it should work, if it doesnt just restore your Full Backup
im using this TWRP Version downloadmirror.co/W9u/xiaomi-mi-mix-2-chiron-twrp.img , rename it to twrp.img or your commands must be "fastboot flash recovery xiaomi-mi-mix-2-chiron-twrp.img"

I don't understand why you are recommending people try something that doesn't work(your second paragraph), especially if you haven't tried it. You cannot go to the global rom from the chinese rom with a locked bootloader when using the built in updater app. It won't work. I've tried it and it didn't work, and I did some research on it and found that you cannot upgrade that way.
You have to use the miflash tool or fastboot.

Wont install through updater app. And you need an unlocked bootloader to do it through ADB
this is painful. Using the tool, i tried unlock and got a message about "after 72 hours of trying to unlock the device". i havent requested an unlock, but i did for my mi5s so might have permission already. So, now i have to wait 72 hours to try again?

Yea man, I'm in the same boat as you. This unlock process really sucks. I don't understand the whole approval thing if you are just going to have to wait 72 hours anyways.. Like pick one or the other but you don't need both.
I'll let you know Sunday at 8PM CST if this works or not, as that is when my 72 hrs is up.
Nightmare. Cheers for the help

I heard it was to discourage resellers placing dreaded vendor roms on the phones before shipping them out.
Update: The 72 hour wait is real. I waited patiently, and was able to unlock. I used the XiaoMiTool to install the global rom. WOOT.
I installed mine, without unlock, using the xiaomitool.
I am now having some issues with google sign in, will not bring up the accounts that are on the phone. (Have fixed this, posted a solution on the Mi Forum)

Help with my Redmi Note 5 Pro

Hey guys, I don't know much about this but I have decent knowledge with computers so that's why I tried to fix it by myself.
My problem is: I was trying to fix my IMEI so I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone, all good.
Then when I tried to fix the IMEI with the qcn file, QPST and all that stuff I noticed my SIM card and Wifi stopped working so I freaked out.
Before I messed with the qcn file I made a backup of my own qcn just in case something went wrong but after I lost SIM detection QPST wasn't detecting my phone so I couldn't restore my original QCN.
I tried doing a factory reset but then I got the MI lock screen where it says that this device is linked to an existing MI Account and you have to enter your password in order to unlock it, that wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't because I have no way to access the network now (No SIM and no wifi).
Then I tried to flash it clean using MiFlash to bypass this screen but I couldn't do it, it either showed an error or did the "flashing" in one second.
I entered TWRP and did a wipe, including system. Now I got the "OS not installed" message, I'm thinking about installing stock MIUI ROM with TWRP, is that even possible?
Please help me out
Why do you want to fix IMEI number .

I've been thinking on this. Will I have any chance to bypass the Mi Account lock screen if I flash a custom ROM like LineageOS? One that apparently has nothing to do with MI or MIUI.
Also, if that's the case I want to know which kind of problems will I encounter with Antiroll back (if any)

I recommend you flash Aosip(because lineage os has Device encryption which i think it will cause more problems with TWRP and stuff). You won't have any more Miui account problems and you'll be freed from Anti Roll Back stuff.

I flashed Resurrection Remix without GAPPS because I couldn't get pass the Google setup screen without connecting to WiFi (Impossible in my case). After that I was able to enable USB Debugging and then I followed this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/fix-empty-imei-unknown-baseband-sim-t3480781
Alternatively, you could also do this from your computer over adb with the following commands:
Code:
adb shell 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst1'
Code:
adb shell 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst2'

find device storage corrupted your device is unsafe now

Im using MI 6 since last two weeks i am facing Error "find device storage corrupted your device is unsafenow" and already it’s been reset two times!
the wifi is not enabling and some of sensors are also not working i am in very big trouble
the bootloader is locked and i am not able to flash the official stock ROM
i have tried to download latest package from update and installed but not get success
I've seen many tutorials to solve this problem, but the thing is I've to unlock bootloader! My phone bootloader is still locked
What should i do now!
Experts please help me to sort out my problem!
Thank you.
I've heard xiaomi phone can use 'fastboot oem edl' even if it is not unlocked.
Maybe you can search something about that.
Hope that helps.
Good point. I have the same problem. I will try edl mode.
i am also getting this, have you solved?
---------- Post added at 11:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 AM ----------
Reflashed using edl, problem still continues.
Edit, posted in wrong topic
You can try to use XiaomiTool and flash your phone with instead..
Check if your device is still encrypted, if not, that's likely the reason why it tells You storage is unsafe.
Is it solved? The same problem
Help
I had same issue. I unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp format data and then flash xioami eu and it works.
If you want to flash Global or other official you have to use miflash and tgz rom. If you, after flashing, see a corrupted memory try from fastboot the command:
fastboot format userdata
I also have this problem, but my status is strange. I use Xiaomi Flash Tool to flash the offical rom 10.3.4. When I boot to system, I get the error message, "find device storage corrupted your device is unsafe now". I flash the newest rom 10.4.3 from miui.eu, everything is good....><"
When I get this error, I have tried to enter fastboot mode and enter the command, "fastboot format userdata", but it's not work.
Have anyone also this problem and solution?
Were you able to find a solution?

I have the same problem in my Mix2 having followed the instructions to move from the now stopped Global Developer ROM to the Global Stable. I followed the directions carefully and after unlocking the bootloader, flashed using the fastflash method choosing to lock the bootloader again. On starting up the phone, I have all the problems you describe, including no way of signing into my Mi account to reflash the phone. [email protected] have been contacted but their suggestions have not addressed the fundamental problem of the corruption also blocking my ability to log into the Xiaomi account to unlock the bootloader.
This has been a very good phone but now!!!
Did you find a way to unllock the bootloader? It seems to be a problem for quite a few people and it would be helpful to know if it is still worth trying to rescue the phone.
Thank you in advance. You described the problem very clearly,
Chris
On xiaomi mi 9t I installed
Code:
davinci_eea_global_images_V10.3.12.0.PFJEUXM_20190801.0000.00_9.0_eea_1d38ae0ec5
and
davinci_global_images_V10.3.11.0.PFJMIXM_20190802.0000.00_9.0_global_ea6683ef55
two times . device storage corrupted every time
3rd time installed davinci_global_images_V10.3.11.0.PFJMIXM but logged in with miaccount during first configuration and error is gone..
i have this problem in redmi note 8, after trying xiaomi.eu rom, i have flashed stock rom again via twrp and now i have that error.
is it solved already?
I have removed the problem, but I don't know the root cause. I install third rom and rollback to miui eu rom, then the problem is disappeared.
1. Install OmniRom(clean dalvik, cache, and internal).
2. Install magisk to root OS(clean dalvik, cache, and internal).
3. Boot to os and reboot to twrp.
4. Reinstall xiaomi.eu_multi_MI6_V10.3.1.0.OCACNXM_v10-8.0.zip.
5. Boot to OS and I find the problem is fixed.

MiFlash Problems, Device Bricked?

Tried it serveral time, get allways the error message as shown in the attachement.

Re-download custom ROM again. Use file manager if needed. Most likely a corrupt download.

Hi Robert,
My apologies for the short answer earlier.
Your device does not seem te be bricked. Yet. At least, not with the info you provided thus far. I am guessing you already googled "MiFlash crc check fail." Some of the options were; use a different archiver, re-download, sideload, rename file and folder into short names or boot a custom recovery (instead of flashing) and install that way.
I've had this exact same problem before (see bottom of post), hence my short reply.
Do you have custom recovery? Can you tell me what happens if you flash custom ROM for the Mi Max 3 that way?
It seems your goals is to flash official. Out of the top of my head, you could also install Official Global ROM through adb & fastboot. This needs unlocked bootloader though if I'm not mistaken, not sure if that's the case here. Alternatively, you can try using another computer. Or don't use MiFlash.
My issue with installing Global ROM was that the first 85% of the download took 3 minutes. The last 15% 5 seconds. I downloaded from official site. Install gave CRC Check Fail everytime. I tried 3 times. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I then used a Google Drive link with matching size and details and everything worked like a charm.
I sincerely hope any of this helps. As with everything Mi Max 3 related, please be aware of arb. Sorry for the generic warning but you can never be sure.

Record conversations on note 8 pro android 10 global

Hello Everyone.
I have xiaomi redmi note 8 pro and global mode with android 10. Soon I will be able to unlock the bootloader and do root.
I wonder if there is a way to get the ability to record a conversation?
Is there perhaps some Roma who supports recording conversations?
Thanks in advance
You can flash Indonesian rom

Or with root use call recording app (trial)

Thanks
I unlocked the bootloader yesterday, installed the Indonesian sw, did the root and finally installed Axet's Call Recorder through the magisk manager, set it up and the recording works perfectly, and during playback my voice and the interlocutor's voice are heard literally perfectly.

Indonesian rom should have miui call recording,
so no need for another recording app. But glad it works for you.
Hello, currently with Global variant redmi n8p, on Global Stock miui 11 with bootloader unlocked, and Magisk, LTR TWRP installed.
Question 1: Wonder if i can use twrp to install Indonesian miui 12 by wiping system, dalvik, cache, and then installing complete Indonesian miui 12 zip? Anything that i need to pay attention to with this route?
Question 2: Anything i will miss swapping from Global to Indonesian rom?
Thanks in advance!
I am very satisfied with how the Indonesian rom works. I didn't notice any difference in relation to the global rum I had. Indonesian rom is not installed via recovery. It is installed using miui tools. I will try to find the video on youtube so I will hang it here. Just so you know that after installing Indonesian rom you will have to unlock the bootloader again and reinstall twrp recovery and magisk, but all this is done in a few minutes so it is no problem. Since Indonesian rom is the official miui rom, it means that it is as stable as global rom so you have nothing to fear.

Fastboot ROM Installation
Fastboot ROMs come with a .tgz file extension and require a Windows computer for the installation, as well as a phone with an unlocked bootloader. However, despite being comparatively more complicated to install than Recovery ROMs, Fastboot ROMs are sometimes the only way to boot into a working system. For instructions on unlocking the bootloader of your phone, check your device’s subforums on XDA.
Download MiFlash Tool on your Windows computer. The latest version can be found in Step 1*of this link. Once downloaded, extract the tool and install it. It is also advisable to have*ADB*and Fastboot installed, just in case you need it.
Reboot your phone into Download mode by powering it off and then pressing both the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
Connect your phone to the computer using the appropriate USB cable.
Download the Fastboot ROM .tgz file and extract it. Remember the extract location, as you will need to paste the address into MiFlash Tool.
Run MiFlash Tool on your Windows Computer and in the address bar within the tool, paste the extract location from Step 4.
Click “Refresh” within MiFlash and the app should automatically recognize your device.
Click “Run” within MiFlash to flash the ROM file to the device.
The progress bar within MiFlash will turn green, which indicates that the ROM was successfully installed. Your device should boot automatically to the new version.
